New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

@MamaBanana12 I think that’s ok, I think the pharma company that make it say so long as 3 days between doses it’s ok. And you’re only missing one dose whilst away which is also ok.

@Fatmumslim01 If it were me, given how bad your nausea was, and how your suppression has reduced I’d split doses. But that’s just me.

soupforbrains · 28/04/2025 20:42

@Paulahousti do mine on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

@Fatmumslim01can I ask why you’re against splitting the dose? Not going to push you but I’m curious. In terms of sticking dropping down or going up, I’d have thought dropping down will mean that you’ll struggle with suppression. And going up to the 5 seems a bit high risk considering. If I was in your shoes I’d definitely stick with the same dose for now (split or not) to try and let my body get used to things.

Woohoo the nausea has finally lifted! Realised this afternoon it had just disappeared so think that was 72 hours post 3.75 jab. I'm really hungry now though and trying not to give in to ice cream that I really want!

Now to decide whether to stick to 3.75 again (i don't really want to start splitting doses) or go back to 2.5 or just get the whole 5 done 😱

Just out of curiosity are you eating enough the first few days after jab. I only had nausea a couple of times on 5 mg and it was when not hungry but hadn’t eaten for 20+ hours.

also try sea sickness bands , used them with both of my pregnancies and helped a lot (also know people on chemo using them for nausea). Might be worth looking at (it’s like a stretchy fabric bracelet with a plastic bit which presses a nerve that affects nausea and is only around 5£ in boots

i would stay at same dose for another week to build it up in system and eventually the SE should disappear

Its just I don't know if I'll manage to keep count etc of how many doses etc it felt weird enough doing the 3.75 and counting the clicks. I think I liked the way with the 2.5 it was 4 measured doses plus bonus dose.

I'll have a think about it. I did feel that 2.5 was wearing off by day 5 each week hence my reasoning for going to 3.75. just so annoying when I had no side effects on 2.5!

I suppose I could try splitting the dose for just one week. Especially this week as I have a big event on Saturday (I normally jab Fri). I was going to possibly leave jabbing until Sunday but I'm thinking if I was to split the dose would I do 2.5 on say Thursday as I know I don't have side effects on 2.5 and then another 2.5 on Monday? Id need to get more needles and it means piercing the red bung twice as much doesn't it what about germs etc?

TheBossOfMe · 28/04/2025 21:07

@Fatmumslim01 - just get alcohol wipes to clean the red bung before you extract. It’s fine to do.

museumum · 28/04/2025 21:18

hi.
a question please for those who have done a “hard twist” - does the pen still click? Do you know how much you’re getting?
I'm due jab 8 of 2.5 on Thursday but its stopped working (I should have gone up to 5 this month but was scared) so I was hoping to hard twist with a fresh needle to get another 2.5 jab and go up to 5 before starting my 5 pen but I don’t want to inject more than an extra 2.5 as that would mean jumping to more than 5.
thanks.

akaFrosty · 28/04/2025 21:19

I'm not having a good week on 3.75 either. I couldn't eat on days 2 and 3 as the suppression was far too high. Then on day 4, I was like pac man. I couldn't fill myself up. I stuck to healthy stuff, but I stopped counting cals when I got to 2000. Today has been the same. I seem to have gone from one extreme to the other, and all I can think about is food.
I was planning on doing a 5mg dose on Wednesday, but I don't like the swing from zero food to eat anything I can get my hands on. I'm thinking of splitting next week too. I might do 2.5 on Tues, and 2.5 on Sat.

Mine didn’t click once I’d done the hard twist, so I just counted the markers instead.

museumum · 28/04/2025 21:41

Thank you @seasidehunter - that makes perfect sense of course.

soupforbrains · 28/04/2025 22:07

@Fatmumslim01that does make sense. I was worried about the same. I just use the Shotsy app to track it and it lets you set custom doses too. (I only have the free version and can do this).

Piercing the red bing is something which has been fear mongered a bit. It can increase risk but if you use sterile needle tips and clean it every time it’s a minuscule risk and these pens are the same as insulin pens which can be used WAY more than 5-10 times since insulin doses vary constantly.

SmallSoupcon · 29/04/2025 07:38

Morning, it's weigh day today for me. Happy to report that after two weeks with no change I've lost 4lbs! That's 19lbs so far.

My son is type 1 diabetic and his insulin pen is used numerous times and also he does not use the same pen all the time he swops he has a pen here, at work and his supply at home and he will use whatever one is handiest.

I little NSV, very tight engagement ring with red nails at Christmas, the one with pink nails is today. I can really see a difference.

Excellent NSV @TheSpoonyNavyReader !
I can really see the difference in MeThreeSixty now. I'm tall and carry most of my weight round my middle, so it can be hard to see my progress. But the pics don't lie!

Morning, just wondering for anyone that comfort eats has found a way of controlling it. This is the first time I've really encountered it since been on injections I'm on week 6 , this weekend has been particularly hard, I've ended up eating bits of chocolate which is fine as I have stopped before eating too much but obviously if I wasn't full so fast I would have polished off way too much. Feeling so stressed since Friday and keep getting the fuck it feeling I will just eat everything in the house even though when I think about it I don't actually want it but I need something to replace it.

Hard twist didn’t work on mine so I had to use a needle and syringe to withdraw and inject 0.6ml is a full dose. In theory there should be 0.9ml left in the pen so if you are moving up you could do a middle dose. I struggled to get the dose out on mine but managed it after some faffing

TheBossOfMe · 29/04/2025 09:27

@TheSpoonyNavyReader - that's an amazing NSV, I can really see the difference. Beautiful rings, BTW!

@akaFrosty - I'd 100% do the split dose if that's what you're experiencing.

@Beinthepresent - I am a terrible comfort eater, it's the dopamine fix. I wish I could say there is a magic bullet, but I don't think there is, I think it's just about not relying on suppression alone and having to retrain your brain to find comfort from other things. When I get the "comfort itch" I'm trying to just get out in nature and go for a walk, and eat some fruit (berries, citrus) rather than anything else. It's not easy though.

I've also realised that Monday is a "danger day" for me - I've gained a pound overnight. I ate a lot more than usual yesterday - and looking at MFP, every Tuesday morning weigh in shows a similar gain. Still losing across the week - but need to be more mindful on Mondays. I think it's because I do my long run on Monday morning (glutton for punishment!) and feel like I need to refuel, when I probably don't need to refuel quite that much. Hopefully the down trend will continue - my 7.5mg pen is due to turn up this week, but I think I'll stick with 5mg on Thursday with the golden dose from my old pen.

MJMabel · 29/04/2025 09:29

As I recall my pen didn’t click. I am on a 2.5mg pen and think I probably gave myself a little too much, ad I did have high suppression that week. I wasn’t overly concerned as it was the lowest dose pen so didn’t feel I’d hugely overdosed even if I took a little over the standard 0.6mls. I think realistically I may have taken about 0.8mls, as there was not much left after I’d done the bonus dose.

That is an amazing difference, how tall are you? I carry a lot of my weight on my hips and back! I did not know that app existed off to download it.
Thank you x

It's a cool tool isn't it!
I'm 5'9" and an apple shape like my mum (who is 5'2" and round). I have no hips or bum - cannot wear jeans at all. I'm doing lots of glute exercises so maybe a bigger bum will mean I can keep them up when I reach my goal weight 😂

Amjam2025 · 29/04/2025 10:14

Weight day today (jab day tomorrow)
I'm week 7 day 7 on 5mg (I jabbed last Wednesday morning so counting that as day 1)
SW 10 stone 10
CW 9 stone 8
TW 9 stone 4 then go from there

No loss this week, I've lost track somewhere along this line and stupidly haven't got a record of my week by week weight other than on here and can't find last week's post!
I did go away to the lakes for the weekend which was amazing, ate some lovely food (tried to stop when I felt full!) But also had a few alcoholic beverages. Didn't feel any negative SEs which was good but think that's all contributed to the non movement on the scales.
Trying to think more about habits and what I will do when I stop taking MJ. I'm definitely a grazer and still have to stop myself now, even with suppressed appetite. I was also a snacker before mj which has now stopped and hopefully I have broken that habit now. Working out my TDEE and calorie counting has really helped and made me realise I was massively misjudging what my maintenance/loss calories are and how many calories are in the foods im eating!
Still getting good suppression with one more 5mg dose tomorrow left in my pen, not sure whether to stay on 5mg or move up. Worried that if I stay on 5, I'll get half way through second pen and effects will wear off!!

Well don't to everyone so far, some amazing achievements, big and small, loving the updates, photos etc! We are smashing this!

Thanks for the new thread!
I work in a school so have been off for two weeks now, usually go for lots of lunches out with family and friends but have tried to find alternative activities or managed to eat healthier/less when eating out.
I'm due to take my third 5mg jab tomorrow, still no real SE which I'm pleased with. Weighed in today (as my jabs day used to be a Monday but I'm trying to move it to a thursday in prep for my holiday at the end of May.)
SW 10 st 10lb
CW 9 st 9lb
TW 9 st 4lb for now and then go from there
Lost a stone which I'm absolutely over the moon with. Couple of ppl have commented, think it's because I'm only just about 5 foot tall so weight gain/loss is quite noticeable.
On Saturday morning I got "break through hunger" i was absolutely ravenous!!! However I had a cup of tea and waited and it went away and hasn't returned since! I tend to eat 1 weetabix for BF, a very light lunch of around 300 kcal and then a small portion of family meal later, around 500 kcal. I'm not getting major suppression but other than the break through hunger, I don't generally feel hungry which is good!

Well done to everyone on their journeys and thanks for all the support on my journey!

Here’s your last weight update, @Amjam2025.
