New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

And weekend accountability weigh in:

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 2.3lblb/128.3lb BMI 22.7 - 16.3lb down, 61.3% of target achieved.
GW 8st 6lb/118lb (26.6lb total target loss, 10.3lb to go) BMI 20.9 (low BMI advised as target by doctor)

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.2lb so far

I'll very likely gain a bit over the weekend, out for two lunches, and hosting a cookery class/dinner party for some friends tonight that is a calorie dense menu, and I'm not going to be particularly fussy about holding back on either food or wine, I don't see these friends very often, and they're all real foodies (annoyingly all super slim though!). So I suspect this week will end at Monday's weigh in with either a no loss week or a small gain week, but that's ok, it's the overall trend that matters. It's not linear, I'm seeing my loss pattern start to emerge, which my data loving brain likes!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 26/04/2025 10:13

Re Fatigue - I can't stay up beyond 10.30 and am sleeping like a baby. Does it go? I'm yawning my head off anytime after 9. I used to be up til at least midnight and up before 7. Now it's 10/10.30 and I'm sleeping til 7/7.30.

@GiveMeWordGames Best style advice I ever had was to find a good tailor who can adjust clothes to fit properly. Even clothes from places like Zara can be made to look like high end when my tailor gets his hands on them and makes them fit beautifully.

Morning everyone. I’m having a very lazy lie in start to the day so haven’t weighed in yet but will do in a bit.

@Illbefinejustbloodyfineyes completely agree ive barely touched alcohol the whole time on MJ (special exceptions for funeral day and my birthday) I’ve a wine rack full of wine and a cabinet full of gin but just don’t fancy it ever. It’s one of the primary reasons I am not bothered at all by the cost of the MJ. It’s definitely being offset.

@Paulahoustit depends what you by after the 30days. The 30 days only starts when the pen is kept out of the fridge. If you keep it in the fridge they keep for months just fine.

@soupforbrains that's brilliant as I always keep it in the fridge, my reason for asking is i got 3.15mg golden dose out of my 2.5 pen on Wednesday but feel nauseous, sluggish light headed and have a 5mg pen waiting for me next so am now thinking I should have got another 2.5 pen but as others have said they are the same price! Maybe thinking I could split 3.75 in to 2 doses, half on Wednesday and half on Saturday 💁‍♀️ but the pen will be more than the 5 doses x

TheBossOfMe · 26/04/2025 10:25

@Paulahoust I think that's fine - I know people who are buying higher dose pens and then using a syringe to get twice as many shots on a lower dose out. So long as you keep the pen in the fridge it's fine.

soupforbrains · 26/04/2025 10:28

@Paulahoustyes that’s fine. In fact it’s what I’m doing with my next pen. I’ve stayed on 2.5 for the first two pens but have my 5mg pen in the fridge. I split doses into two because I had bad SEs and with the 5mg pen I don’t intend to actually go up to 5mg but to very gradually increase my dose. So yes if you keep it in the fridge you’ll be fine.

It's something I've thought about and never acted on. I think when I get nearer to where I want to be weight-wise, I'm going to look into doing that. It will be a nice reward.

soupforbrains · 26/04/2025 10:55

Just weighed in. End of wk8.

SW:19st10
CW:18st2
GW: 11st7

i lost 1lb this week. Which I’m disappointed about because last week I didn’t lose anything and it felt like I’d got things moving again this week, which I suppose I have, but I was hoping for more. Still, I’m happy with the overall loss so far and at least the scales are moving downwards.

im increasing my dose from today too. Have a 5mg pen but I’m actually only going to d a 3.33mg dose (40clicks) split into two 20click jabs per week. And I’ll see how I feel on that. If the Side Effects stay away then I’ll gradually increase it as the weeks go by.

doing my injection today from my golden dose though with syringe. Can anyone help me figure out how much actual liquid I need to inject to get to what would be a 40click dose from a 2.5mg pen?

taylorswift1989 · 26/04/2025 11:11

Is anyone having any menstrual or menopause issues with MJ? My cycle has gone a bit crazy. I seem to be having a period every week at the moment. I'm 53 and have been peri for a while, not on hrt. Just a bit worried that MJ is not helping here!

To add, I'm going to talk about alcohol. Specifically wine. For many years I've had a problematic relationship with wine. Pre MJ I was drinking wine at least 4 nights a week , often more , often 7. Often, in fact always a whole bottle. If it was in the house I opened it. If I opened it I finished it. If it wasn't in the house I was ok with that, and didn't drink (multiple bottles of fancy gin available that I rarely touch)

So, a bottle of wine most nights, and then wine induced snacks.

I'm on my 6th weekend (I think?) And have had a bottle of wine each weekend only. 1 bottle a week. The first few, finished the bottle in one night. Last week I had 2/3 then a glass the next night. Last night night I had 1/2 and it felt too much and just habit, rather than want or need.

This is honestly, bloody amazing. The difference to my health must be huge

I know what you mean. My husband is a big wine lover & we’d have a bottle between us most nights. So often I’d say ‘I need to drink less’ and promise I’d only have it at weekends but after a stressful work day he’d suggest a glass and I’d be unable to resist. Even when I did resist I’d crave it and feel sad about it on the evenings I didn’t have it. Now it really is restricted to weekends and I don’t miss it - it’s great!

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine That's me on a normal night anyway 😂

@taylorswift1989 Possibly - my period has gone on for almost 8 days now. I'm in peri though so cycle is all over the place, skipped last month completely.

@TheSpoonyNavyReader is it gross but also sort of impressive?! That MJ slows my digestion so much..

TervenAcademicals · 26/04/2025 12:15

Afternoon, am so bad for contributing on here but love reading all the comments so thank you everyone for sharing.

Finally lost a stone after 5 weeks!
Height 5 foot

SW 13.3.1
CW 12.2.8
GW 9

Still on 2.5 and have another month on it so will see how I fare but still getting good suppression so not eager to jump up too quickly.

It's hard to know though isn't it, if we're all peri/menopausal. I had an ablation done 3 years ago that was supposed to stop periods, it didn't, but they were manageable. Then last year started taking mini pill and they gradually tailed off. Until last month. It was very half hearted but lasted a few days

Yeah it's hard to work out what is just "normal" menopause weirdness!

soupforbrains · 26/04/2025 14:43

I am not peri menopausal yet. I have not experienced any changes at all to my menstrual cycle since starting MJ. All normal, on schedule, same pains/symptoms etc.

that said. MJ is a combination of two hormones, and although they aren’t menstrual cycle related hormones, the intricate balances of hormones in our bodies can be a little unpredictable in my experience.

@taylorswift1989 Ive only had one period on MJ as only been on it 5 weeks but it arrived with no PMT and was alot lighter and less painful than usual. I am on tranexamic acid and mefanemic acid and my periods are very heavy and I sometimes have to take a day off work due to the period diarrhoea 😱 however my period on MJ was what I suppose a "normal" period is for other people and it was quite manageable so if this is a random side effect of MJ then it's a very welcome one!

Bipaloss · 26/04/2025 15:34

Not premenopausal but had my TOM twice now and due third in about 10 days

both was much more heavy then usual , the cramps was stronger and lasted a day or two longer then normal

prior to both I felt the bloatiness far more then normal about a week before and even if I lost 1 lb the week before there was a big weight loss the week after

deffo feel like MJ has kickstarted my hormones somehow

  • I had a few chin hairs which has now disappeared
  • although my hair loss has accelerated (I have always lost hair and have thin Nordic hair) it feels thicker and looks more shiny
  • my skin is dryer but looks more “alive” and I feel like my face is looking younger (deffo less puffy)
  • TMI but I’m more moistured downstairs and feel more often “up for it”
Tormundsbeard · 26/04/2025 16:43

Another bout of diarrhoea on 5mg, having had no side effects on 2.5mg. I am going to reduce my dose this week to see if that helps. I am struggling to eat anything with such an upset stomach.
