Week 42 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 88.1kg (13st 12lbs), was 88.6kg (13st 13bs) last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 7.5mg, 32 weeks on this dosage.

A 0.5kg loss this week, a pound. Takes me to a round 8 stone loss since starting on Mounjaro. Again this week the scales said 87 point something earlier in the week, but I have definitely learnt not to rely on mid week weigh ins!

Congratulations @SilenceInside That is phenomenal!

Happy dancing here - 4 stones down, at last. These last 2 pounds have been soooo slow to come off, but they are gone!

Started 2nd September:
SW: 18 stone 11 (263 lbs. BMI: 43.8)
CW: 14 stone 11 (207 lbs: BMI: 34.4)

I now want to get another 4 stones off, so half way there. Not sure if that is doable, but will keep plodding on and see where I am nearing the end of the year.

Very much enjoying it all and will up my exercise when I get more time (which I will have in a month's time as I have given up a very time-consuming job which gives me zero time to do much of anything, although I am on my feet all day). I am desperate to get swimming and more walking in, but I am eating fantastic food which is making me feel great. My nails and hair are growing at a ridiculous rate and I am sleeping so well. Everyone comments that I am glowing which is lovely. But yes, I do need to up my exercise - there is certainly room for improvement.

Going on a 3 week holiday to the sun next Friday. Mostly self-catering so planning to eat fabulous food (Spain, so lot's of lovely fresh produce) and will be able to choose well eating out too. I bloody love the sun, so cannot wait.

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage and here's to all of us lovely losers.

And, I have just reminded myself today is injection day and I completely forgot until I wrote this post!

That's amazing

You are all fab

Sw 19.7

Cw 14.11

Aiming for 28lbs more

Hoping I can manage 1.5 lbs per week
On 5mg

Best of luck all

Week 6 here and a 3.75mg jab this morning. Weighted myself and it turns out I've lost a stone and 4 pounds since my first weigh in! Still got a long way to go but I definitely feel happy about that.

I ate a whole bar of aldi white chocolate over the course of yesterday - the first time in a while I've wanted to overeat chocolate and I don't feel bad about it! But it's so crazy to me that I can have nice food and treats lying around and not have to eat them all in one go! If anything makes me feel committed to MJ, it's not the weight loss, but the feeling of ease around food.

NicPapr25 · 25/04/2025 13:42

Hi, reading the posts, you have really inspired me in sticking to it. I was recently asked my weight at a medication review for hrt, I had no idea how much I weighed, so said 14 stone, which I thought was about right😀. To my horror I got on the scales a couple of days later and was horrified that I was 18 stone!

Having just had my 60th birthday and the odd problems with my knees and swollen ankles, decided I needed to do something. Was really scared of taking the jab, both the actual injection and possible side effects. I can truly say the injection did not hurt at all, and no real side effects. Currently doing 2.5g mounjaro, so deciding if will increase dose or stay with for bit longer.

That's a brilliant loss 👏 Do you weigh monthly?

I can totally relate to your comments about feeling at ease around food. The calories seem to balance themselves over the week. I can eat out now, and know for certain that I won't over eat. It's good to feel fully in control in all circumstances. I took my first 3.75 dose this week too. Good luck with yours. I feel great but the suppression isn't as high as I'd hoped unfortunately. No side effects though so I will do 5mg next week.

MooBaggage · 25/04/2025 15:10

Yes I can relate too to the feeling way more at ease around food. Today is very unusual for me in that I've been out for lunch (tapas) and am out for dinner (Indian) - but am OK about it because I'm not having desserts, not eating tons, not drinking alcohol and in the early part of the week I know I'm under my calories because of the suppression. So today I will definitely be over my calories today, but it's not the end of the world and won't lead to a huge binge fest, which would have happened previously - shocker...!

BTW I think this has been mentioned on previous threads, but I've just asked my current MJ supplier (IQ Doctor) to price match the cheapest dose available (looked on monj.co.uk) and they've agreed to do it, which is great - so I don't have to palaver around changing suppliers again! So thought I'd pass on that IQ Doctor (and I think others do but I can remember which suppliers have been mentioned previously) will price match - hurrah!

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/04/2025 15:39

I'm more comfortable around food too but, weirdly, I find that when I am being "good" and eating things I plan like protein with salad, roasted veg, etc I tend to feel more need or want to eat than when I am eating less perfectly. Not sure if that is psychological or not.
I've always said I don't get this appetite suppression others talk about and was not sure if that was just physiological or maybe because I don't recognise hunger and satiety cues but I have noticed this week, which has been very busy socially with lots of eating out, that I may have some but it is, possibly, more related to the type of food I am eating.

I'm going to have the next week being mindful but not calorie logging to see if I can manage to eat more intuitively. I have never managed before but who knows now?!

Thank you! That loss is over the six weeks since I started MJ.

I tend to weigh myself randomly, if I'm passing a boots! I don't have scales at home and I find that's better as I start obsessing about numbers and honestly I don't want to live that way! I was tracking calories for a while but now I've decided that MJ is giving me an incredible opportunity to relax and be easy around food and weight loss so I want to enjoy that and turn this way of eating into a way of life.

I know it will probably mean being on MJ for a couple of years and maybe even beyond that but I do believe that I can reverse the damage to my body caused by obesity (or whatever caused the obesity!) And I can change who I am around food and eating for the rest of my life.

It's going to be a long process and I think the weight loss itself will probably be the fastest and easiest part of it!

Sorry, editing as wanted to say, good luck with the 5mg. I'm going to try to stick to lower doses if I can. On 2.5 I didn't get much suppression until the last week of it when I realised how it had built up in my body. I actually don't want too much suppression because as I say, I want to be able to live like this forever. But obviously the suppression from MJ is a big part of being able to develop an easier relationship with food. I do think for me it is medicating my adhd! And that is making so much difference.

RainbowConnection1 · 26/04/2025 10:54

I have just taken my 7th dose of 2.5mg and weighed myself and I haven’t lost any weight this week after losing 3lbs last week. I’m now feeling disappointed and wondering if it’s time to consider moving up to 5mg? scared of that though because of all the horror stories!

taylorswift1989 · 26/04/2025 11:14

Has anyone had any menstrual or menopause issues with MJ? Since starting I've had a period a week early, and then having another one a week later. I'm 53, deffo peri, but my periods have been mostly regular for the last couple of years. I'm a bit worried that MJ is affecting this.

Darlinghag · 26/04/2025 11:33

Morning folks. Happy Saturday!

This week I have lost a 1lb, taking me to 14st 5.6lbs.

I’m finding MJ has become my new normal now. I find myself less excited about it - not in a bad way, but I don’t seem to think about it too much. I take my dose and move on. Its probably reflected in how I am here less, but I am creeping up 9 months on it and I guess that it’s just nothing new now!

Some things to note:

  • my dose didn’t do what it normally does this week - which is 1/2 days of very high suppression that eases off gradually. I’ve been hungrier and craved more sweet things. This has happened before back in January, and I bumped my 7.5mg up to 8mg after a couple week of it its settled me. So I will do another week or two and then if need be, bump to 8.5mg.
  • I nearly told a friend who has discussed MJ before again this week. Almost did and then she mentioned some thoughts that made me think she might negatively judge me so I kept quiet.
  • Need to figure out my dose schedule for my trip in a month. I haven’t ever shifted it, but with the time difference, my usually high suppression early on and the fact its a secret, I think I need to move it to 24 hours earlier, it will mean I’m travelling alone at those highest points of suppression.
i hope everyone is doing ok!
SilenceInside · 26/04/2025 12:16

@RainbowConnection1 I would look at the whole period of time that you’ve been on your current dose. Has your weight loss consistently started to tail off or is this a one off blip? Are you still feeling the effects of the medication or does it wear off more quickly? If your weight loss has slowed a lot and you’re not feeling the effects of the medication then I’d consider moving up a dose.

if you take 5mg and it’s too much suppression or side effects are long lasting and severe, then you can do a part dose and go back down to 2.5mg or between eg 3.75mg.

I’ve lost 14lbs since I started and it’s been consistent. I’m hoping this week is just a blip but will know more at the end of this one so will see how it goes. Just frustrated at myself.

Hi - I'm post-menopausal and have been on HRT for about 5 years and the MJ has definitely had some effects on what was my menstrual cycle! I'm getting (TMI alert...!) some spotting - brown/dark red and just bits, rather than anything like a period - and some EWCM sometimes 🙄

I'm kind of ignoring it, but have booked a medication review with my GP as I'm on several drugs at the moment and was overdue a review anyway. I've read something somewhere that talks about women on MJ maybe needing an increased progesterone dose, so I'm wondering if it's that.

I've had 2 x hysteroscopies in the past few years - the last one was only 6 months ago or so, so I'm not worried it's anything sinister, just a change in cycle due to starting MJ and should hopefully settle. But I'll be mentioning it to my GP - always best to mention it, I think.

OP posts:
MooBaggage · 26/04/2025 12:58

I'm eating very little today after 2 x meals out yesterday. Just coffee, water and a tiny bit of fruit smoothie so far - and it's a physically busy day for me today, so I'm feeling good and redressing the balance!

It's so weird though, because I don't feel like I'm punishing myself or starving myself - just v happy to back off eating much today and stick to liquids (not gin 😁) and will have a small meal for tea later. I bloody love the control MJ gives!

Having said all that, I think my weight loss is properly flattening out now - I'm seeing less dramatic change in my body as compared with the first couple of months when it was bonkers. Must be patient with my slightly-too-small Vinted purchases - I'll be in them by the summer... 💪

Yes, good idea to let the GP know. My GP is almost impossible to get an appointment with unless your leg's fallen off or something, so I may give it a little bit more time to see if things settle before attempting to see the doctor!

@MooBaggage @taylorswift1989 and anyone else on HRT. Mounjaro and/or the weight loss have played havoc with my hormones. I was 56, 2 years post meno, no HRT and was fairly symptom free before starting. But since losing significant weight all the meno symptoms came back - hot flashes all night meaning little or no sleep, vaginal atrophy, low mood etc. So I started HRT in January and it has been much better - I sleep through the night and don't even need to get up to pee, but I am getting some bleeding (might be not enough progesterone being absorbed or might just be it still settling in as I have only started HRT a few months).

Have you seen the threads about HRT oral progesterone advice published very recently by BMS and PCWHS. Mounjaro can impact absorption and efficacy of oral progesterone (which we all know is so important for endometrial protection during HRT)?

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/04/2025 14:18

Been to the veggie market & have done some meal prep for the week. Butternut squash Dahl, a great salad of cabbage, fennel, apple, pecan, mint, cannellini beans. I will also make a tabbouleh with cauliflower instead of bulgar.

Assembled my hammock

now I’m going to spend a few hours on my annual houseplant state of the nation, repotting etc. love this day.
