Thread SEVEN of this lovely community. Anyone using weight-loss injections to lose more than 5 stone or 30kg is very welcome to join us, no matter what stage of the process you are on. Share your losses, your non-scale victories (NSV), your frustrations and your love of Longley Farm cottage cheese and kiwi fruit here!

Nothing is off limits to discuss - from protein sources to B bellies; Hammocks to smart scales; feeling chilly to easier bum wiping 😃

Please don’t post discount codes on this thread as your post will be deleted. These need to go in the dedicated thread on this board

NSV today, DH was going through the pictures on our security camera and deleting old ones, I saw one of me from last August and there was an enormous difference in my size ☺️

MooBaggage · 23/04/2025 22:35

Feeling better after having a litre of water and some food!

I'm still chuffed that I was wearing new, smaller work clothes today - I just have to accept that I'm still big, with 60lb+ to lose!

This time next year, the Teams cameras will hopefully look very different 😃

Hi, May I join please? I’ve ordered Mounjaro , and will start asap. 5.7 and 16,11. 5 stone would be wonderful. My main motivation is mobility issues, very bad back, and prediabetes. I have to get healthy. I ea5 proper food, just way too much of it. I have read the thread, and you all seem very lovely. I’ve started eating today as if I’ve already used the pen, a woman at the pharmacy advised this, but I know I need help to keep it up. I’m angry that I’ve come to this.

MooBaggage · 23/04/2025 23:08

Hi @Zebracat I can relate to the feeling angry bit - I felt that too - and ashamed of myself, for letting myself get in the state I was.

Hopefully that will subside though as you make a start, because this time it really will be different. For me, seeing the MJ as medicine which is treating the disease of obesity has really helped re-frame it and remove some of the guilt I've felt. I need MJ like I need my thyroxine and other medication - so don't beat yourself up too much! You're treating your body with medication it needs - so welcome to this group and keep us posted!

Hello and welcome @Zebracat. Sorry to hear about your mobility issues and back pain. Life is just shiteola when your body tries its damned hardest to make it as difficult as possible.

Some people on this thread calorie count with some really good results. I don't because I'll end up in a dark place I don't want to be in. However from my own experience and from what I have read of others, MJ will do its thing food wise and you may well find that you restrict food without thinking about it. I used to eat a LOT of cheese pre-MJ. Now, I still have some of my mother's day cheese in the fridge (chocolate isn't really my thing so my kids got me some good cheese instead)

@alwaysscared life with a child who has complex needs isn't always easy. My youngest has an ever increasing list of 'things'- from memory our boys have a similar profile of need. I know you said you find it very difficult to get out, but have you tried reaching out to places like your local carers organisation? Mine aren't that great for parent carers tbh, however they do some stuff for those who can't leave their own homes for whatever reason. Valentines afternoon tea by post was one they did.
I also know of a few online groups especially for parents who experience CPVA & VCB (child-on-parent violence and abuse & violent and/or challenging behaviour). If you think it would be of any benefit to you then please do PM me. Above all though, I want to let you know you're not alone. Being a parent of a child with complex needs can be so, so isolating at times. If you need a handhold/positive thoughts/a listening ear or just a damn good moan then please do reach out.

Does anyone use rehydration sachets? I'm really struggling to get enough fluids in during the day. I've got some vidrate ones but as I don't like citrus flavours and loathe anything tropical/coconut tasting with the fire of a thousand suns I'm getting bored and then some with peach and berries. I can't have squash in my house though (ds obsesses about it but can't have it because it sends him off like an exocet missile) so no liquids please. He won't touch rehydration sachets though as he thinks they're too close to medicine to want to try them himself.

alwaysscared · 24/04/2025 00:45

@alltablenochairs thank you so much for your post. We are lucky that DS doesn’t show any violent behaviour at all. His needs are all based around anxiety and sensory issues, though CAMHS have warned that it could develop as he gets older and goes through puberty etc.
Having a child with complex needs is hard, I hope your child is doing ok.

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/04/2025 05:17

Hi @Zebracatand welcome to the thread. I agree it’s a good idea to start eating better before you take your first dose, for some people it kicks in really quick and you don’t want a belly full of ‘final hurrah’ chicken tikka just when you decide to deliberately slow your digestion down 😂 My recommendation is to do the jab as soon as you get it, don’t dwell on ‘is this the right day of the week, should I wait till….’ Just read the instructions, do it and see how it goes, you can always move it a day or a few hours later the next week if you find you would prefer to jab on a Friday or in the evening etc as time goes on. The first jab can feel intimidating but it’s remarkably easy to do and so pain free you might find yourself unsure if you actually did it right.

Ditsy79 · 24/04/2025 06:29

@alltablenochairs I've not been using rehydration sachets while on Mounjaro, but have found O.R.S Hydration tablets good in the past when we've been travelling. They're fizzy tablets in a tube (like Berocca) that you put in a glass of water. They come in Blackcurrant, strawberry and lemon flavours. While I wouldn't say they taste amazing, they are definitely more palatable than Dioralyte etc. I think you might be able to get them from Boots, Amazon etc.

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/04/2025 07:48

@alltablenochairs Sainsbury’s sell these powder squash packets that DH says are really nice

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/04/2025 07:49

Oh or you up could try one of those ‘air up’ bottles that flavour water through scent pods.

MooBaggage · 24/04/2025 07:57

Eeek! Payday tomorrow so I've just ordered those Eufy scales 😃

Am starting to make friends with scales, so thought it was a good time to get them (any excuse to place an Amazon order... 🙄)

Still haven't ordered the hammock yet 😬💪

@alltablenochairs For rehydration, I use Zero tablets. They come in a long tube with a lid. Add one to a 750ml water bottle. I try to do that every morning. And then have another 750ml bottle in the afternoon with a squirt of the Robinson's mini on the go squirty squash bottles. Both can be hidden away from kids, eg in a desk drawer or handbag, and added to an opaque water bottle without them being visible. The Zero tablets have no sugar, and are blackcurrant flavoured.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 24/04/2025 11:10

Hello you lovely lot. Checking in. I haven't read the whole thread but I am sending solidarity to the other parent-carers here. DS's dreadful sleep was a huge factor in both my significant weight gain over the years and the breakdown of my marriage. Things improved significantly when I started giving him a low dose of melatonin but I still co-sleep with him every night. It is not a sustainable long-term solution but does mean that everyone gets some sleep.

I took a break from MJ last week. I had some lovely meals and quite a lot of drinks Blush and then returned to reality with a jab on Tuesday! I weighed this morning and interestingly although I've gained a couple of pounds in weight (which I was expecting) my body fat percentage has reduced. I was very, very active and did a lot of walking across the week which may have been a factor.

While I'm here, can I thank @WeAllHaveWings and @Arglefraster for jumping to my defence in response to a really nasty post on another thread on this board last week? I really appreciated the support.

WeAllHaveWings · 24/04/2025 11:37

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping that poster was wired to the moon! Their posts were well out of order with such "breezy confidence" 🤣 for someone talking pish!

SilenceInside · 24/04/2025 12:03

I should probably stop posting on the threads which attract the posters who want to express their uneducated opinions on WLI and their beliefs or even hopes about what the future holds for people taking WLI. Managed to get my second ever deletion of a post on another thread, when I probably should have just hidden the thread once it started collecting the usual kinds of negative uninformed posts and not risen to it.

I also have a DC with SEN, generally we don't have too many issues at home but sleep is a problem area. My DC's anxiety tends to come out at bedtime and can prevent them from getting to sleep, meaning bedtime can take an age. And if DC wakes in the night then getting back to sleep can be equally problematic, sometimes leading to co-sleeping. Which generally means I don't really sleep in those situations.

I have only recently come to realise how much sleep affects weight gain, and the inability to lose weight. Mounjaro seems to improve my sleep, although I know that other people have the opposite effect. I don't have the same tendency these days to stay up super late just to get some time on my own. I seem to prefer going to bed at a reasonable time and getting up earlier than everyone else for some time to myself instead. I am not snoring anywhere near as much in duration and volume, and I think I had undiagnosed sleep apnoea which has resolved as well.

MooBaggage · 24/04/2025 12:41

I'm due to have a medication review and have to fill out a form online, so thought I might as well ask whether Mounjaro could be prescribed on the NHS for me - I detailed how well it is working so far and the benefits I've found.

I got a standard reply saying my geographic area doesn't issue NHS weight loss prescriptions..! Like, at all...?! I'm really surprised - was expecting a 'no' because I haven't been through other their weight loss treatment services, or something, but a blanket no - that no-one in this region is prescribed it at all - seems a bit odd. Ah well - was worth a go - will have to keep saving and spending!

@SilenceInside I relate to a lot of what you say. One of the silver linings of STBXH leaving is that once my DC are in bed I can go to bed myself with a book. I used to stay up far too late and snack into the night!

I don't know if I had apnoea but I certainly snored badly, and as a related issue I also ground my teeth and had awful TMJ pain. In desperation I ended up having Botox in my masseter muscles a few years ago, which did help. I recently had a cold and for several mornings I woke up feeling awful after a night of mouth-breathing, with a sore throat and dry mouth. I realised that that was how I used to feel every single morning. My sleep quality must have been awful.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 24/04/2025 14:34

@SilenceInside I would say it would be a pity to lose your well reasoned and clear responses to some of the uneducated opinions we see on some threads! I always look for you and cheer you on😁

SilenceInside · 24/04/2025 17:15

@IReallyNeedThisToWork Ah, kind of you to say, thank you. I get a bit dog with a bone about responding, and definitely need to practice some mindfulness around taking breaks from social media if I get into that head space!

Arglefraster · 24/04/2025 17:45

that sweet of you to say @VelociraptorsVelociRappingthat poster really was an astonishing mix of ignorant & arrogant with a good dose of rude 🙄🤣

@SilenceInsideabsolutely protect yourself but if you want to post remember the lurkers - they are benefiting from your good sense & experience even when those you are directly replying to are incapable of learning!

QueenOfHiraeth · 24/04/2025 19:28

@SilenceInside We really need some kind of an idiot klaxon so , when any one of us, is dealing with an arse we can summon help!
