@InfoSecInTheCity woah..! I genuinely cannot imagine that, ever! The smallest size in my head that will ever exist for me is a size 14...!

I was going to ask you - I can't remember if you've said before - what are your plans re: maintenance? I started reading a MN thread about it, with people choosing to come off MJ altogether, but the thought terrifies me as my plantar fasciitis and IBS both disappeared after only a few days on MJ, so I know I need it for more than just weight loss. I suppose the good thing is that that was a 2.5mg dose, so it might be OK to work down (in the end!) and stay on 2.5mg or even hopefully 1.25mg indefinitely. What are your thoughts on the long term/being on it indefinitely now you're more or less at the end of losing weight?

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping 😳knowledge is still growing as only been looking into it for the last few weeks to try to work out why I am so tired and after I got Dr to do blood tests to check them and said all was well when it clearly wasn't. I am sure lots of people know much more than me so correct me if I have picked anything up wrong. These summaries are interesting about the types of B12 and its co-factors.

There are lots of files in the B12 wake up facebook group that goes into them in more detail.

One thing I also noticed while reading, is the recommendation not to routinely supplement iron for older adults unless there is a deficiency as iron can accumulate in the body and cause liver, heart, joint problems. I swapped to a women 50+ multivitamin (Metagenics), most of the vitamins for older women do not contain iron (I was also using the Better You iron spray which on top of my previous multivitamin was way too much). I also noticed the one @taylorswift1989 mentioned (Inessa) which is not only for older adults says it does not contain iron for similar reasons.

Interesting, I didn't know that about routine supplementation of iron after 50. I'll remember for when I get there!

@MooBaggageI’m about 8lbs away from my ultimate goal, and there’s still a fair bit of fat under the skin on my belly so I can afford to loose it without being gaunt but I am thinking about how it will work a couple of months from now. I’ve got my next round of diabetes bloods booked in next Friday and I’m hoping my HbA1C has stayed steady, I’m going to be advocating for long term prescription of MJ as it does a really good job of regulating my sugars and keeping them in the right range, it was prescribed to treat that and it is treating it so I want to stay on it. I do want to reduce down though, currently on 10mg am hoping they will agree to long term 5mg dosage.

MooBaggage · 29/05/2025 09:54

Ah yes I'd forgotten re: your diabetes. Hopefully you can stay on it then - will be interesting to see if you have to increase food once you've lost the 8lbs, to not lose weight! I cannot imagine that world - but this time next year I should be done too 😀

@alltablenochairs Sorry you are freezing too, a tartan blanket would have really capped off the look! I am currently wearing a t shirt as its 20c indoors, which is warm for my house, but I am getting waves of shivery goospimples and have two big blankets sat next to me that I am ready to dive into! Surely we will warm up eventually!😁

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 11:54

I am also constantly cold - which is really novel as I've been a "hot" person all my life. I have resisted big oodies etc, but I do have a lightweight Uniqlo down jacket (mens XL of course as the womens jackets never used to fit & at my biggest this one wouldn't do up either) - I wear it most days over the top of whatever else I am wearing, especially when WFH.

My wardrobe now includes a few warm jackets - I've never really worn these before. I'd either be in a winter coat, or at this time of year I'd be quite happy without a top layer. Now I wear jackets.

I find if I am active/moving around I'm not too bad, but sitting down & working I'm freezing.

Congrats on dropping anothe jean size @InfoSecInTheCity My Size 16 jeans & cargo's are both too big now but wearable with a belt (which also needs resizing). My wardrobe is full to bursting with so many different sizes of "wearable" clothes & I am resisting buying new jeans for now. I went to wear my sz 18 jeans this morning & had to think again & add them to the unwearable pile. Maybe I'll look for some size 14's in charity shops over the weekend. I do need some new yoga clothes too as I'm in danger of too big leggings falling down.

I can't recall wearing sz 14 before.

I don't feel like I can get rid of my too big clothes at the moment. Its a lack of belief in what is happening to my body, plus a very real fear of weight regain. I can't decide if these are reasonable fears, or undermining what I am doing.

Some of the clothes, although too big, I really like. I need to bundle these clothes up and at least move them to the garage/out of sight.

Zebracat · 29/05/2025 12:02

Oh my @RobinEllacotStrike , those are problems I want to have. I’m wearing my size 18 jeans. I know I was around this weight ( 98-99 kg) when I bought them 6 years ago!, then they were lost to me for a few years, they are very comfortable, but I can’t wait to have to buy some 16s. I just depressed myself by looking at size guides, according to M&S, I’m a size 22. Damn.

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 12:08

They will be your problems before too long @Zebracat 👗🥻👖😁
When I started MJ I was wearing sz 22 M&S jeans (at 124kg 5'8") - its real!

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 29/05/2025 12:41

I’m also at a new jeans crossroads - my size 22s are getting very baggy. Just waiting for my new (to me) size 20s to arrive via Vinted. I don’t have my old size 20s as my thunder thighs put big friction holes into them! Am going to keep my size 22s to show me how far I’ve come whenever I need a plateau pep talk.

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 13:05

that's a good idea to hold onto a couple of pieces of clothing as irrefutable evidence.

Zebracat · 29/05/2025 13:18

Crikey, you have climbed a mountain to get here, @RobinEllacotStrike , really appreciate your posts. @ANutAsBigAsABoulder , buying jeans on Vinted is brave, are they a make you’ve had before? I bought my other jeans from Next clearance, ordered a 20 in one style, an 18 in the other. The 20s were too small, but the 18s were fine🙄

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 13:23

a truly crazy thought has just occurred to me - I might simply be able to borrow my teenage daughters (17 & 14) jeans soon.

Its unfathomable.
Fat Mama no more.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 29/05/2025 13:57

@Zebracat I’ve ordered M&S boyfriend jeans as I know the cut and style suits my bottom-heavy shape. They were only £4 and look in great nick - I do wonder if lots of people on WLI are buying and selling on Vinted as they go down each size. There’s a decent amount of choice.

I don’t really want to buy too much brand new. I’m hoping to be passing through the next few sizes over the next year, and also being able to fit back into stuff that’s sitting sadly in the ‘too small but too nice to get rid of’ section of my wardrobe.

AnneinEdinburgh · 29/05/2025 16:04

I'm loving Sainsburys wide legged and even better carpenter jeans. Nice colours, inexpensive (and positively cheap in the sale) and really comfortable. Currently in size 16 having started off in 20s. However either my jeans have got baggier and longer or I have shrunk again as I tripped over them at work today! Might be time to break out the 14s eek!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 16:17

Sainsburys jeans are great - I love my barrell leg ones & for £18 on offer they were a bargain.

Stay safe from those potentially treacherous baggy jeans @AnneinEdinburgh

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 29/05/2025 16:38

Breaking out the smaller sizes is amazing @AnneinEdinburgh@RobinEllacotStrike. and @InfoSecInTheCity - It’s really heartening to hear. I can’t wait to be in a clothing size that starts with a 1 again.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 29/05/2025 17:10

Fuck! Weighed today and only quarter of a pound since last week. It has been a weird one, and I have been cold and tired a lot so eating more. Only on 5mg so hoping this is a blip. But a bit fed up! now at 5.1kg.

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 17:16

remember its a long game @Hotflushesandchilblains and also your weight can vary loads from day to day. Keep going.

QueenOfHiraeth · 29/05/2025 21:29

I don't understand how I am consistently bigger sizes than everyone else! I'm now just under 80kg and just got in M&S size 18 jeans. Started around 115kg and in size 22-24 (usually from Yours)

Zebracat · 29/05/2025 21:53

It’s a mystery to me too, Queen. I weigh 98.6 kilos. My measurements are 48,41,45 definitely an M&S 22, but I’m wearing size 18 jeans, size 14 knickers and a size 20 t shirt. At 80 kilos, I think I will be a size 12. My daughter is 80 kilos and a size 12.

Zebracat · 29/05/2025 21:54

Maybe you prefer a looser fit?

RobinEllacotStrike · 29/05/2025 22:08

I don’t think there is any such thing as standard sizing. while my size 16 jeans are getting loose, my wardrobe is chokka & I have sizes from medium to Xxl & 14 to 20.

those are just the sizes I am still wearing.

apart from my boobs (fairly large) I do seem to carry weight very evenly. Over 110kg (and menopause influence too) I really noticed my bum & tum getting disproportionately larger. But until I hit 110 kg my body fat felt/looked evenly dispersed.

some body types have thick torsos, but slim legs.

I can tell you I was carrying fat on my feet & toes. I might have lost a bit of height from my feet being less fat.

Now I am carrying a bit more on tummy & arms but moving back towards more even distribution of body fat.

Evenstar · 29/05/2025 22:26

I’m sending my size 16 dress back as although it fitted it was a little tight and I don’t want to put pressure on myself with only just over a month to go till the concert. I have ordered the 18 and think it should be OK when I lose a bit more with the elastic panel in the back.

It is very odd though, I was comfortably a size 16 last time I was near my current weight, I honestly think with Mounjaro the weight is coming off in different places and I am post menopausal now so maybe that is making it stick on my tummy a bit more. I think it is disconcerting to still be a higher size and links to the feeling many of us have of not feeling a lot thinner.

Evenstar · 29/05/2025 22:27

I have been able to add two more things in a size 20 to the too large pile this week

MooBaggage · 29/05/2025 23:17

Am utterly pissed off at the moment - I'm having a really heavy, full blown period - my first for around 5 years.... It's horrible - I'd forgotten about the stomach ache and leaking through pads and feeling knackered... 🙄

I'm thinking it's because I started on Estriol cream 2 weeks ago - so will stop using it (which is really annoying as my poor foof needs help!) and will have to phone the GP to let them know. I'm a bit worried it might be the MJ, but I haven't had any issues with it and it's been over 4 months.

The GP will want me to have a hysteroscopy and I bloody hate them.

Grrrrrr....! 😥
