Excellent effort @Slowrunning !! I loved getting to 40lbs - just such pleasingly big numbers...! I'm 44lbs down now and already looking forward to the big 5-0 😀

Happy birthday @dimples76🎁🥳🎉

alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 16:27

I just ate a square of milka chocolate with a tuc cracker in it. Man, I miss nice food 😬
Do any of you have overly hungry days? It’s my second week on 7.5mg, and today I’m famished!

Zebracat · 20/05/2025 16:32

Chocolate and tuc? No never eaten that. Is it good? Doesn’t really appeal. I had a bacon sandwich for lunch though and it was absolutely delicious.

MooBaggage · 20/05/2025 17:13

I injected yesterday so don't want to eat anything ever again!

OP posts:
alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 17:18

Yes it’s a milka tuc bar. I got loads of different ones for my husband for his birthday and I asked him to save me some of that one. It was nice!!
@MooBaggage I only injected on Saturday! So shouldn’t be feeling so bloody hungry 😡 I think I’m broken

3 days a month immediately before my period is due I could eat and eat and eat regardless of when I last jabbed. I allow myself to go over calories those days if needed but make sure that what I eat is high protein, high fat. If I NEED chocolate and we all know that those days happen, then I have a Barebells protein bar because they’re pretty good for fake chocolate or a protein chocolate pudding or a small amount of Nutella/chocolate peanut butter or an options hot chocolate.

QueenOfHiraeth · 20/05/2025 18:51

@alwaysscared I still have chocolate now and again. I try to think before I eat it if it'll be worth it and I only have it in moderation but I think we all have to accept that no food should be forbidden, otherwise we are just on another bloody diet!
I know I've said this before but I do not get appetite suppression as others describe it. I may not be ravenous all the time but I can always eat so I do have to think about and control what I am eating (the plus though is I can eat out and enjoy social occasions). MJ makes it easier for me to resist temptation most of the time but doesn't stop me
I wonder if this is because my system has been screwed over by age, menopause, endless dieting, etc and, although you are younger, being diabetic may make your system a bit more resistant too. You are not broken, just a challenge! Grin

alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 19:03

My problem is my sweet tooth. That just hasn’t gone away. For sure I am able to resist way easier, but the sweet tooth is still very strong. Hence the fruit, protein puddings etc. I have these every day, but I am trying and doing better than I was. I’m still finding it so bloody hard though.

I have found that the less sweet stuff I eat, the less I want it and that’s from a woman who was eating 2-3 full size chocolate bars a day and a slice of cake. I could polish off a big sharing bar of Cadbury’s during an advert break. There was basically no limit on my sweet stuff consumption I never said no to myself or to anyone who offered it. I’d stop in Morrisons, buy a 2 pack of the fresh cream filled scones or palmiers and eat them both in the car before setting off home.

When I first started this diet I was still fighting the ‘want’ for sweet stuff so had a jar of silver skin pickled onions in the door of the fridge, every time I got the urge for a snack I’d go and eat a couple of pickled onions, they are sharp and vinegary and put me off wanting anything else for a little while, over time I started leaning more savoury in general so if I get peckish now I want something spicy, vinegary, salty or intensely cheesy like a really good strong cheddar. Now on the occasions that I do have sweets I’m finding they are often too sweet and become sickly really quickly so a single Ferraro rocher is enough. I actually remember watching Britains got talent years ago where someone’s ‘talent’ was that they could eat 6 Ferraro rocher in 1 minute and I laughed with DH about the fact that I could double that without trying.

alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 19:54

@InfoSecInTheCity yes I was the same. And have found that my favourite chocolate (dairy milk) just doesn’t taste right anymore (I had a square of my husbands)
But the other stuff, fruit, protein puddings, drizzilicious rice cakes, I am still eating all these. I know I should stop but I fit them into my daily calories.
And then I have days like today where I could literally eat so much.

SqueakyDinosaur · 20/05/2025 21:10

2.5 to 5 is the only time you actually double your dose, so it's unsurprising that so many of us have reacted badly to it. I think it would be better to have, say, a 2-dose 3.75 pen and a normal 5 pen together at that point (or advise people to titrate more slowly). After that, it's a 50% increase to 7.5, a 33% increase to 10, etc etc.

MooBaggage · 20/05/2025 21:37

@alwaysscared I know it sounds really boring, but have you tried eating dates to help with the sweet craving? They help me take the edge off it. And the chocolate protein drink, which is my go to when I'm really struggling with neeeeeeeding something sweet..!

<worried I'm double posting but 99% sure the app lost my reply>

I was "eat a scabby horse" hungry yesterday always. For me it was a lethal combination of really awful sleep, stressful day, PMT and then I ate bread.
( I don't eat bread/wheat because it is definitely addictive to me, makes me high as a kite & crave more but my youngest made butter which you can't really try on its own....with hindsight & a bit more sleep I can see an oatcake would have been a safe solution!)

The advantage of tracking is that rather than thinking I had eaten 3 days worth of food so may as well throw in the towel I could see it was actually not much above maintenance calories so I've chalked up to calorie cycling 😆

I strongly agree with what info says sugar begets sugar so it's easier to stay away. There's some research that says artificial sweeteners dont help because your body expects/prepares for sugar due to the sweetness being detected. I can't speak to it though as I don't eat artificial sweeteners.

is tuc in chocolate like pretzels in chocolate?

Dates aren't boring!! They're like nature's toffee & a bit too tasty 🤣😳

alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 21:42

sorry but I just can’t do dates, not my thing at all!
Do none of you guys eat protein puddings? Should I not eat them? They have sugar in, but not too much and it’s a good way to get my protein in!

Hotflushesandchilblains · 20/05/2025 21:43

I am so glad to be reading about plateaus. I did not lose last week, so disappointed by that, but feeling a little better reading this. 3.8 kg so far, but a long way to go - 105kg at the moment, want to get to 76 or so= was 70 at my lightest, but not sure how that would feel now. Started taking inulin which has made a huge difference with the constipation. And prunes!

alwaysscared · 20/05/2025 21:50

@Hotflushesandchilblains I was in a plateau for about 9 weeks. Finally started losing some now, but only a small amount, very frustrating. I’m eating well within my calories but I think it’s the sugar that I eat. I’m trying my hardest to tone that down! 4st 10lb down in 6 months, then 2 months of nothing shifting.
@Arglefraster a little bit like a pretzel and choc I guess, because of the salt mostly. One square wasn’t really enough to make a proper comparison!

Oh oh oh, I have a product for you!

Good guys bakehouse melts, they come in cheddar cheese or peppered flavour.

https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/SearchResults/Good%20guys

They are crackers/wafers and each one is only 6 cals and 0.01g sugar, they have a wafer/melt on tongue texture but are crispy and strongly flavoured, a great vehicle for cottage cheese, butter, cheese spread etc without the bread effect.

alltablenochairs · 20/05/2025 22:08

They're hard to find in the UK but fresh dates are absolutely fantastic and not a bit like dried dates. I've got a friend who gets them for me. Mmmmmmmm, could really fancy some now. Alternatively, fresh tamarind are also equally nice. A mix of sweet/sour at the same time. Warning, fresh tamarind pods are definitely NOT something that you want to eat for their looks! Sweet stuff doesn't really appeal to me anymore- hasn't done for a while though.

@InfoSecInTheCity I also don't get suppression as such. Just a total indifference to wanting to actually eat. I haven't had tea tonight, mainly because I was snacking most of the afternoon. Plus the Firstborn decided she needed pancakes when she came in from school so I had 2 of those at 1530.

I do, I have these ones because the size of the pot means they are less calories than the other chocolate protein pots which come in bigger sizes. I don’t have them that often because I like to save them as a treat for when I really need chocolate so I don’t get back into the habit of having it every day, but you could eat it every day it’s only 6.5g sugar per pot so really low.

thank you, those sound yummy & amazingly not full of weird things but sadly are full of wheat so would basically be a gateway drug for me 🤣

I don't because I don't eat artificial sweeteners or some of the other things they have in them but sometimes do Greek yogurt & plain protein powder with inulin (it's sweet), cocoa & maple syrup which is basically the same thing I think!

ETA just looked at info's link & it's no higher in protein than the same weight of 0% Greek yogurt but higher in calories so my recipe above would be closer without the protein powder

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/05/2025 22:33

@alwaysscared or vary up the flavours, there are loads of fruit based protein yoghurts or qvark (think I’ve spelled that right) that are slightly less sweet but give you the protein hit while not being savoury.

The raspberry flavour in particular is one of my favourites it has that slight zingy sharpness with the sweetness to balance it so it still feels like a dessert without setting off the sweetness cravings.

Another favourite of mine is the full fat Greek (not Greek style) yoghurt with crushed up walnuts or pecans and a squidge of maple syrup swirled through. Again it gives the dessert feeling, the hint of sweetness but high protein and satisfying.

if you like protein shakes, then one ‘hack’ is to add lots less water (100-150 ml only) and whisk it till it thickens then leave it to stand for a couple of minutes and it turns into a mousse you can eat with a spoon. Or you can make it with the usual amount of water and then heat it up in the microwave for a high protein hot chocolate (delicious if you have mint chocolate protein powder), or get a latte protein powder, chuck it in a blender with some ice and you have a high protein Frappuccino.

Jelly pots are also good if you want a sweet treat generally somewhere between 0 and 5 calories for the whole pot.
