I just broke through mine then went away and regained it but have managed to reach a view that memories and family time outweigh it. It's only a number and i will go again soon
Have a great holiday!

Thank you!

MooBaggage · 18/05/2025 21:46

@InfoSecInTheCity I love your graph and use the tracker sheet religiously now - but I can't get the chart to work - how do you get the data to translate into the chart?

I'm someone else who has mini goals- in my case it's linked to key dates e.t.c. I don't have an end date yet- 20 years of all sorts of diets and slimming clubs have given me a bit of a horror of setting and end goal which isn't yet achievable.

The first goal was the weight I was when I was critically ill last year (20kg lost and nailed it), the second goal was the weight I was with my booking in appointment with my second (29kg lost) lost, the third will be the weight I was when I was at the booking in appointment with my oldest (37kg lost) and the 4th will probably be the lowest weight I can ever remember myself being (53kg lost). I should be achieving the second one in the next few weeks. I've been on MJ since October last year but as I don't walk (I'm a wheelchair user) none of the tdee calculators actually are anywhere near accurate for me! I'm still losing though.

Long timers might remember my frequent moans about 'that bloody dress'. I've got a family wedding coming up quite soon and in my wisdom thought it would be a VERY good idea to buy a horrifically expensive dress on Ebay to wear to it. In a size 16. I haven't been that since my early 20's. I don't actually know what clothes size I am now but I'm not a flipping size 16. If a miracle actually happens I'll post a picture of myself wearing the dress. If a miracle doesn't happen I had best get looking for an alternative dress. Time to recruit my bestie (who is the only person apart from my husband who knows about the MJ) to go dress shopping.

MooBaggage · 18/05/2025 22:44

@alltablenochairs If you don't end up wearing it for the wedding, you'll have a perfect excuse to book a fancy schmancy meal/weekend away when you are ready - the dress must be worn! 😀 and obvs we need photos..!

I'm so impressed that you are losing weight and a wheelchair user - do you do any hand weight exercise stuff at all? It must be extra hard to have physical constraints - I am hugely impressed 💪

OP posts:
alltablenochairs · 18/05/2025 22:55

@MooBaggage No I don't do any hand weights. Mainly because picking up anything heavier than a pint of milk means I run a pretty good chance of dislocating something, usually my shoulders and thumbs. I do like to go swimming but the hoist at my local pool has been broken for what seems like forever now.

So I keep my mind exercised instead! I'm SE but don't work full time though. I also find stuff like Scrabble Go and Wordle interesting. A lot of my work can be done from my sofa/bed- my clients all know me well enough by now to accept that this is a possibility. Plus caring for my son keeps me busy too. I find that an interesting piece of work can be just as exhausting as a damn good walk. I used to do a lot of walking and I have pics of me and my youngest in a hiking rucksack halfway up a Munro!

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/05/2025 22:55

It's a shame we don't all live near each other. Imagine the fun we could have sharing clothes and shopping!
@alltablenochairs Not sure of your body shape but there's a shop near me sells Saloos clothing. I had some stuff from there and liked it, it might be worth a look online

Now those dresses are lovely. Might be tempted to buy a few as I'm very much a tunic and trousers kind of person. Thankfully the wedding is one of those where presence is what's important. The bride just wants people there and tbh doesn't give a damn what people wearing. Slightly outing but a lot of my family are bikers. They'll be turning up in their leathers!

I've already got an outfit in mind for if it's sunny. If it's anything but sunny then I'm stuffed. As the only side effect I have ever had from the MJ is being perma-cold I'd best get thinking about a colder weather outfit JIC.

QueenOfHiraeth · 18/05/2025 23:13

@alltablenochairs My dad loved bikes and I was raised on the story that mum insisted he sold the bike and sidecar when I was born! I love bikes in theory but always leant the wrong way on corners much to Dad's disgust 😂
I'm finding clothes weird at the moment. I've come down from a 22-24 to a 16-18 and, where I expected to feel glorious, I actually feel a bit self-conscious so I struggle to decide what to wear any time I go anywhere

MooBaggage · 18/05/2025 23:28

@alltablenochairs that's frustrating re: the swimming hoist - hope it's fixed soon.

I know what you mean re: mental challenges - I'm addicted to my Suduko app and will only allow myself to do the extreme level - I only finish about 10% of them...! I also love my jigsaw app on my Kindle Fire - not really taxing - more mesmerising and lovely to do in the evenings as it makes me sleepy..!

I’m another who loves mini goals and data, it helps me to refocus when I start losing the will and gives me something to work towards. Actually not sure what I’ll do when I hit the final goals. I think I’ll have to set some new ones related to muscle mass and body fat percentage.

Wow! Love the graphs. Did you do this from the start in excel?

MabelSpan · 19/05/2025 12:23

5mg is kicking my arse!!

First dose was fine, bit of minor nausea for a couple of days but that was it. Took the next dose on Friday past and good God. At first all was well but on Saturday night I had a loud grumbling stomach, totally bloated and so uncomfortable. Very strong nausea too.

It’s not been as bad since then but I can barely look at food as the suppression is so strong. Also waking with some nausea which passes as the day goes on. The constipation is kicking in too so have ordered some probiotics and some psyllium husk.

I know it could be a lot worse but I’m heading for the chemist to get some Pepto Bismol to see if it helps, though I’ve heard it’s rank.

Hoping all of this settles with time!

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/05/2025 19:28

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!

Went to a sports physio this morning due to pain in shoulders and hips. He was firm and decisive in his actions, now I feel like my butt and back have been beaten up by a very strong man.

Apparently my muscles were very knotted and needed to be ‘released’ and I need to do more weights based exercises to build better coverage, strengthen and grow my glutes.

Currently laying under my heated blanket feeling sorry for myself.

MooBaggage · 19/05/2025 19:34

@RainbowConnection1 I was like that when I moved to 5mg - it was very rough going for a while! For days when I couldn't face eating, I kept my liquids up, including a protein shake and fruit smoothie, so I at least had some vitamins and protein in me.

For constipation, I find milled flaxseed has worked wonders! I put it in either the smoothies or protein drinks - plus 3 x dates a day - and that seems to help 😊

Hope you feel better soon - fingers crossed it settles down...

For anyone considering, or heading towards maintenance, below is screenshot of what Medexpress replied to me....whilst photo gets checked, basically says at discretion but they would prescribe if BMI is not below 23.5

WeAllHaveWings · 19/05/2025 20:22

BMI 23.5 is 11st 3lbs for me (174cm tall). Not sure I will ever get to that (especially post menopause in my mid 50s) but never say never! I wouldn't like the idea of being cut off by policy if I hit 11st 2lbs.

iI’ve been doing the same, keeping up the fluids and I am finding smoothies a bit of a lifesaver! Went into work today feeling gritty but was kept busy enough that I could shove it to the back of my mind…or just about.

Thos too shall pass 🙂

GiveMeWordGames · 19/05/2025 21:53

Oh yeah, the first two weeks on 5 were when I resorted to pepto bismol thanks to the sulphur burps, threw up for the first time and stocked up on Immodium! Hope it settles for you soon. @RainbowConnection1

alltablenochairs · 19/05/2025 22:32

@InfoSecInTheCity you'll feel 100% better for it in the morning. Trust me. I like nothing better than a really good shoulder massage myself- the kind of massage that's intended to inflict pain. However the day or two after it feels fantastic. No, I'm not a masochist but I find it helps to loosen and relax my muscles.

Warning for anyone taking pepto bismol. If you have a salicylate allergy don't take it. I tried it without thinking and found out the hard way it wasn't a good idea.

@RainbowConnection1 the jump from 2.5 to 5mg wasn't much fun for me either but it settled after a few days. I mainly felt nauseous too. In my case sipping on plenty of water with lots of ice in it helped.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 19/05/2025 22:58

@RainbowConnection1 I hope you feel better soon. My first few days at 5mg were dreadful. I felt sick and did throw up once the day after my jab, was very off food and prone to diarrhoea if I ate anything that wasn’t bland for the majority of that first week. It was much better the second week though and has continued to improve. I’m three jabs into my second 5mg pen now and am sticking at this level for now. I’ve not had anything like that reaction again, but it has put me off going up to 7.5mg until I really feel I need to.

Ok, I feel like this is a bit of a silly thing to do, and I may very well name change after this, it depends on if it goes wrong but I wanted to share with you lovely ladies as you have been my biggest supporters, commiserators and general nonsense chatters throughout this journey. There is 8 stone (81 kilos) between these 2 pictures. Back then the idea that the second picture would ever be a possibility would have bought me to tears, it would have felt like yet another cruel tease designed to humiliate me and make me feel small.

Wow. Wow!!! You look amazing!! Really given me hope and inspiration

I was the same going from 2.5 to 5. I actually felt so rough that I went back down to 3.75 for a few weeks then slowly increased to 5 and it was much better. I’m now on 7 and though I can still get a bit of nausea the day after the jab it’s manageable.

I hope it settles for you.

Slowrunning · 20/05/2025 06:51

Whoop whoop - quick mid week weigh in this morning and I am down 50lbs and for the first time in many many years I am in the 12’s!!

I’ve still got a long way to go but I’m feeling quite chuffed this morning 🙂

dimples76 · 20/05/2025 07:07

Well done @slowrunning!

It was my birthday yesterday and I rather overindulged. I did have a session with my personal trainer in the morning though. I was saying to him that if someone had told me a year ago that I would choose to go to the gym on my birthday, I would not have believed them. Back on the wagon today.
