Hi all, have finally taken the plunge after years of yo yo dieting and have ordered some MJ … really need to lose 4 or 5 stone to be healthy and happy so nervously looking forward to starting and trying to avoid any scaremongering stories online !!

I need to loose 5 or 6 stone. I’m now in my 2nd week and must say I’m delighted so far. I’m a bit tired now (in my 2nd week), but other than that I’ve had no problems so far. I must admit to weighing every day, I always have on previous diets, so doing the same - so now week 2, day 4, I have lost 8 1/2 lbs so far!

lovechocolate · 13/04/2025 09:43

@SausageRoll90 this is similar to me too. Took my second injection yesterday, did all the right things all day and am a pound heavier today!

Hopefully, if we just persevere, we’ll get there.

Dobbysdad · 13/04/2025 11:45

W1 D2 today, yesterday I didn't really feel much food suppression I don't think, I was really cold last night. I'm also a weigh every day gal, and scales showing 3.5lbs loss since yesterday. I know this will all be water and it'll balance out!

Curvyandstrongblondie · 13/04/2025 11:56

Hi all, I started last Monday on 2.5mg so a week tomorrow. I’m also doing an OMAD low carb for the first week and drinking 4 litres of water. I started at 86kg, I’d like to loose 13-15 kg. I’m quite muscular and even at 86kg I can wear a size 12. I decided to only weigh once a week but yesterday morning I gave in and I was 5kg 11 pounds down. I know this is a lot but OMAD really works well for me and I will continue doing it this way.

No side affects so far and injection day tomorrow. My suppression is good but I started to get hungry last night which I think is normal coming up to injection day.
weight yesterday was 81kg. A great weight for me is 71kg so I’m hoping I will get there and considering micro dosing to maintain.
Hope you all have a great Sunday

I have just registered with Pharmacy2U to start delivering my NHS prescriptions and if you look on their weight loss section ('online doctor' or type mounjaro in the search box) you can order the 5mg for £119 which seems pretty good value.
2.5mg is £109 - there is a code to use on the site but no referral codes required (I havent had any luck to date trying to get my 25% off Zava code used!).

I've noticed bruises at my injection sites. Wondered if anyone had any tips to avoid them? Thank you.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 13/04/2025 13:22

Don’t rub them, maybe apply a little pressure for 20-30 seconds after removing the needle (use the alcohol wipe or a clean cotton ball). Don’t give the injection where your waistband may be rubbing it.

QS90 · 12/04/2025 22:35

@pandymoanymum Can I ask if your shoulder issue, is to do with inflammation? I've heard that certain diseases to do with inflammation (notably endometriosis), are improved by WLI, but there aren't enough good studies yet to prove it.

Yes, I think there's inflammation pain-It's a rotator cuff issue/wear & tear, so that's the muscles & tendons holding your arm in the socket and that let you move your arm becoming painful. I haven't heard about the possible link to inflammation, that's very interesting!

Pandimoanymum · 13/04/2025 15:17

50FootWave · 13/04/2025 09:02

I've bottled it.

Sat looking at the pen, ready to inject, and I just couldn't do it.

I can't explain it, other than I've lost 5 pounds post holiday, probably due to all of the walking. But it's made me think that perhaps all is not lost, and I'll try upping my exercise.

£114 down the drain, of course, but I'll have to suck it up.

Wishing each and every one of you all the success, and thank you for being such a supportive group!

Oh, that's a shame! Is it fear over the actual injection, or something else-like side effects?

FizzBe · 13/04/2025 15:25

I've just done my second injection and it was easier mentally and physically than the first. No bruising this time so goodness knows what I did first.

Have lost 6lbs in the first week and really felt the suppression all week long, so have high hopes for shifting my stubborn menopausal tyre.

Lundier · 13/04/2025 15:47

W2 D2 SW 86.9kg CW 81.3kg

(I also think that's a bit scarily too much and yes I am in contact with the doctor.)

I pushed my dose back to this morning but when I came to it I couldn't bring myself to inject the full amount; my body was telling me not to. So I went with half and so far have not had the extreme reaction I had last week. 🙏

I can definitely now eat. I'm successfully consuming normal food like chicken, salad, peanut butter, porridge, fruit, cheese, even a biscuit with my tea. I'm just eating portions on side plates or olive bowls, instead of dinner plates.

Out of interest I did a few kettlebell rows and I feel distinctly weaker. I'll go and lift some heavy things to try to defray that. (I'm a strong lass normally.)

Was at the pub yesterday with mates and they were so confused that I looked the same if I'd lost 5.7kg. (Rude! 😂) But I think it goes like that the other way too! I am genuinely big boned and think really I look more or less the same (clothed) at any BMI between 22 and 30. Unclothed it's obvious because I have a big tum and saddlebags and so on. Clothed, I'm not expecting to look drastically different with Mounjaro. I'm just really focused on reducing the fat I am carrying around with me, because it's heavy! It's really heavy!

I feel tired carrying this weight. I'd like to put it down.

Pepperwaggytail · 13/04/2025 16:35

Any tips for dealing with the tiredness?
im sleeping like a baby at night - a good 9 hours and could happily have a nap mid afternoon and then ready for bed at 7pm!
My hubby is really supportive but rolling his eyes a bit at all my 🥱 😬

The side effects, i think, and just reading through the leaflet properly again, I just decided this was not for me.

I think it's a game changer for so many people, and it should be discussed more openly regarding the way it can destigmatise how so many of us who are overweight are viewed (a burden on the NHS, lazy etc). I'm glad I've educated myself about it, and I think everyone here is marvellous for trying it.

I just can't take that final step!

Summerbay23 · 13/04/2025 17:30

Just taken my first dose. Forgot to wipe skin with alcohol wipe and forgot to pinch skin (don’t think my instructions said that), but seemed to go in ok so hope all ok and I’ve not messed up already.

The pill sorted mini sharps bin is too small for the needle to fit through the opening which is a bit bizarre. Anyone else had that?

I feel a bit anxious about side effects and I’m imagining I’m feeling light headed already although I only took it 45 minutes ago.

Ill weight and measure self in the morning as for some reason I always like to do that on a Monday.

Bear in mind that there are potential side effects of every drug, including paracetamol and they are no more minor than those listed for Mounjaro. The risk of cancers has not been shown at all in humans, only in the poor rodents they tried it on and they always give animals huge doses of drugs when tested ‘just to see what will happen’. This continues despite it becoming bloody obvious decades ago that, due to the completely different physiology of rats/mice to humans, testing on them is a waste of time!

Apparently, 1 in 8 people in the USA with a population of 340 milllion take one if these drugs and about 220,000 people in the UK have been taking them over the past few years. Then there are many hundreds of thousands (at least) around the rest of the world. There hasn’t been one case of a serious side effect when the drugs are obtained from a reputable source.

StrikeForever · 13/04/2025 17:33

This is my second full day (first dose taken at 16.40 on Friday) and I have great appetite suppression, but not in the weird way it felt with amphetamines (years ago from a slimming clinic). Just a comfortable lack of interest in eating too much. I had a very light breakfast and a drink of milk and one ginger biscuit when I felt like a snack earlier. Really happy.

No tips but just wanted to say I'm there with you. Feel absolutely exhausted and I already feel ready for bed despite having a few extra hours earlier while my toddler napped 🙈🤣 what day are you on? I'm only W1D2 so I'm hoping it'll improve as my body adjusts.

hotshota · 13/04/2025 19:06

Wonder whether anyone else is experiencing knowing ur stamoch is empty but feeling full at the same time?

Have to say today is W2D5 and this dose has hit me today in terms of feeling full really quickly. The previous days after the shot I haven’t and managed to eat a bit but today it’s ramped up for some reason. Shows you how weird our body reacts to it? Makes me wonder whether I should go to 5mg in two more weeks or stay at 2.5. At the moment they havee ordered a 5 for me and as I was starting to eat more I thought I needed it

sometimes you don’t know what the right call is!

Pepperwaggytail · 13/04/2025 19:15

Im on W3D6. I’m so so happy with the weight loss, and also a positive and unexpected side effect is that my normally anxious stomach (I have anxiety due to PTSD) has completely stopped, possibly due to the slower stomach emptying?

The tiredness seems to peak around day 4 each week, and eases a little day 7. But then of course I inject again! I’m planning on staying on 2.5mg until the weight loss and hunger suppression eases and hoping that the tiredness eases a little. It’s a small
price to pay though for all the benefits.

Galadali · 13/04/2025 19:17

W2 D7 and I've had huge suppression today. Went out for family lunch after no breakfast and didn't fancy anything! I've just had a very small portion of veg chilli and salad for tea and I feel stuffed. I honestly don't recognise myself. Anyway, it's jab night tonight and wondering if I should hold off for a day or two. What do people think of delaying if still feeling strong effects from the previous one?

Ethela · 13/04/2025 19:21

I read somewhere that if you forget a dose you can inject up to D3 beyond that you need to wait until the end of the week D7 and inject then.

Potato1234 · 13/04/2025 19:24

Being on maternity leave I’ve really started to get a coffee addiction, from coffee shops. Decided to buy myself a coffee machine and make them myself so hopefully can keep an eye on the calories! I already have almond/oat milk no sugar - any other suggestions? I also picked up a coke habit (the drink😆) whilst pregnant as I had severe HG and couldn’t tolerate anything else, and I have to still have one can a day. So I’m drinking a lot of unnecessary calories! The diet ones just don’t hit the spot. Any tips from anyone who’s weaned off the sugary drinks?

On a side note, I wish I did MJ years ago, so far it’s actually changing my life

Stepfordian · 13/04/2025 20:04

I don’t know if this is a side effect or just coincidence but I’ve always been a nail biter and for the last two weeks I haven’t bitten them, they’ve actually grown! Has anyone else had the same?

PinkCatInATree · 13/04/2025 20:14

I need to lose half my bodyweight to be a good healthy weight and have a call with BUPA tomorrow. I want a GP led programme and luckily we have the money to pay for this (and I am hoping to save money on crisps, bread, chocs etc). I have been overweight for 50 years and am looking for willpower really ... And for the energy to get back to moving more.
