checking in - I have another couple of days until 2nd weigh in but 6 lb down so far - last week was really tricky as was away from home with no access to a kitchen so too many protein bars and yoghurts in leiu of meals. I realised after I forgot to prime the jab so may have slightly underdosed and feel the suppression fading quicker this week - I might bring my jab forward a day.

Sorry if this has been done but can someone talk to me about collagen / marine collagen? Its v expensive in H&B but found capsules on Amazon cheaper but are they similar strength etc? Can't really afford to splurge or waste money but at 49 probably would benefit. TIA.

Thanks so much @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy think I’ll just take it easy and try to eat little and often, I did feel a bit better after some breakfast and am going to try a small lunch soon.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 14/04/2025 12:15

I’ve done my first MJ today at the local pharmacy. Nervous but hoping for success.

starting weight is 20st 7lb.

I wfh and have a very sedentary lifestyle, and eat when procrastinating! Hoping to reduce some of this.

JMSA · 14/04/2025 12:25

@CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease
It will definitely help! I’m the greediest person and it has reduced my food noise considerably.
Best of luck!

Why are people recommending collagen with the jabs do they make you lose collagen? I’m about to start for a month only to lose 6lb. Starting weight 8.9st goal 8.2st. Wondering what delightful side effects in store.

What is your bmi at that weight?

Hi, hope the headaches dissipate soon - I was headache free this morning after waking 2 days with a slight headache. In the morning before I even want it, I make myself a big glass of water with ACV and low calorie cordial and make sure I drink that over the day. I am also trying to train myself to just have a smoothie for breakfast - 100gms 0% fat organic Greek yogurt, 10ml maple syrup, 80gms blueberries, 5gms ground flaxseed, 5 gms freeze dried blueberry powder, 10pms organic vanilla protein powder, 100ml water and then whizz- 200cals with 20gms protein and 20gms carbs, 5 gms fat and has 1 or 5 a day. I love it. For lunch I found 60gms precooked chicken cut up into one of the healthy vegetable soups available was quite good, easy, healthy and filled me up. Or soup with an egg ( cooked like shakshuka) with a small bit of cheese on top…….Both lunches coming in at about 200cals but good on protein and helpings of 1 of 5 a day. I just hope I can continue to do this without the help of Mounjaro…….

W1D3 here. Woke up with zero appetite but also no thirst. Which is more challenging as I had an awful dehydration headache yesterday so I'm guna have to be mindful of that going forward.
I'm doing some menu planning and a good shop today to help me get some more protein into my diet. I think protein yogurts are going to me a firm favourite for a work day breakfast.

What do people have for breakfast?

Today I had a toaster crumpet (a rectangle one rather than round) with peanut butter and strawberries for 270cals and 9.5g protein.

Yoghurt is always a good option, top it with a sprinkle of nuts and seeds for extra protein. I find nuts very filling. I eat eggs everyday but appreciate it may not be an option when you’re rushing around in the morning before work etc. I try and make my own cereal bars too as I’m terrible for not eating breakfast so a cereal bar is a good option for me and when you’re on the go, just be careful of the awful sugary ones, or make them yourself like me. I make my husband overnight oats for work, I prefer warm porridge but only use the small sachets ones you get which does the job, again with nuts and seeds or berries :)

NicPapr25 · 14/04/2025 13:26

Taken first jab this morning, not very good with needles, but truly didn’t feel anything. Long way to go as about 6 stone to lose, was horrified when got on scales to send pictures to get prescription. Don’t really feel any different today, maybe bit of a headache, but no drastic side effects. X

Day 3 and I have a bit of a headache but nothing else. I don't think I've had major appetite suppression as I've been able to eat normally, but I don't eat breakfast anyway so hard to tell. I don't have scales in the house as DD1 was anorexic as a teen, so am weighing in work on a Tuesday so it'll be 4 days. Not ideal, and off next week!! But feeling OK...

Incognitoburrito88 · 14/04/2025 14:13

Hi everyone. I’ve not checked in for a few days. I’m on wk 2 day 4 and things are working really well now. I felt last week was a bit up and down and there was definitely still food noise. Since Friday evening there has been none. It’s amazing.

I’m on holiday so still not weighed myself and I’m not counting calories. Eating much less than I normally would though and I think maybe my jeans are feeling looser!

Also, no real side effects to speak of. Headache if I don’t drink enough and occasionally slightly nauseas in the morning but it goes away once I brush my teeth and have a drink of water.

StrikeForever · 14/04/2025 14:23

GreenSalon2 · 14/04/2025 10:53

I’m a few days post second injection. No weight loss in week 1 and not due to weigh again until Friday but I can now very much feel the suppression has kicked in and made me not crave my usual sugar fixes. Very interested to see what this week’s weigh in brings.

I’m also 3 days in (injection day is Friday) and no weight loss of course. Despite that being perfectly reasonable, it pissed my usually rational brain off 🙄 I was the same when dieting. Weighing myself makes me a bit neurotic!

MJafterWLS · 14/04/2025 14:35

Hey all, joining this thread as I started on MJ just over a week ago and took my second dose of 2.5mg on Friday. So far I’m down 9.6lbs (weighing daily) - obviously pleased with this, but expecting to slow down to a more reasonable rate of weight loss this week.

I had WLS a few years ago and managed to lose around 11 stone, but have gained about 3 stone back due to pregnancy and also being diagnosed with a chronic illness which has limited my mobility, and meant I was on some steroids for an extended period of time. Hoping MJ will help me to get the weight off again. I’m also interested to see how the inflammation caused by my chronic illness is affected as I’ve heard good things, hoping for some improvement!

Side effects wise I had a really good first week, good appetite suppression and no other symptoms. Since my second jab on Friday, I felt quite nauseous over the weekend and had no appetite at all yesterday, but this seems to be improving today.

Exercise wise, I’m quite limited as to what I can do currently however hoping to get to the swimming pool this week at some point.

@ParsnipPuree I am really surprised you were approved for MJ with such a low starting weight ? I do not say that to be goady , just really interested how that is suitable for you , would you mind telling us your BMI ?

SunnyPop · 14/04/2025 18:13

I did my food shop today and cannot believe how much cheaper it was compared to usual without my usual snacks etc in it!! Add that to not spending £25 a week on takeaway and it covers the cost of Mounjaro. The price initially put me off but I actually wish I'd started sooner!

Potato1234 · 14/04/2025 18:43

Not had a good day today. Been really emotional and stressed and SO hungry. I’ve had 1,800 calories and still hungry. I really don’t understand how it can vary so much? I took my second injection on Saturday night

Me too, in fact I actually checked the receipt when I I got home as thought it was far too cheap to be correct 🤦‍♀️

WorkingOnGettingSmaller · 14/04/2025 19:26

Hi everyone! First jab done on Friday so W1 D4 for me. I have ALOT to lose. Disgusted to say 9/10 stone but aiming for 5 stone to start with. I’m not going to bang on about the past though. I am where I am and now I’ve just got to get my s**t together and actually do this!

I’ve not really had any side effects except for a headache a few hours after taking the jab but that was gone by the next morning. A bit of eggy burping (sorry) and bloating today but other than that nothing. I found the appetite suppression kicked in straight away to the point where I’m worried I might be under eating. I just don’t feel hungry at all. Maybe there’s a silver lining there and I might be able to stay on the 2.5mg for longer and save myself some pennies!

Good luck to everyone else on their journey!

lovelylight · 14/04/2025 19:29

Week three day one for me. Bit disappointed to have only lost a pound last week but today I noticed some nausea and diarrhoea for the first time, so perhaps this is the first time I've really had enough of the drug in my system to have an effect? I also changed my injection site to higher up on my stomach this morning so perhaps that's made a difference?

CreakyandSneaky · 14/04/2025 19:34

Hi, so pleased to have found this thread and so many people with similar stories. I've yoyo dieted all my life with some elongated periods of success. But seemed to lose my way in covid (snacking + too much wine everyday). That, combined with menopause and a new job/career that I started in September has left me the heaviest I've ever been! I now drive to work and have very early starts so no time for the morning g runs I used to fit in. My lifestyle is way more sedentary than before and I'm addicted to the dopamine hit of food and wine! Started MJ last Thursday and first 4 days were brilliant - very little appetite and total reduction in food thoughts. No side effects either, for which I'm very grateful. Have to say my appetite is coming back now, so just hope I can stay 'good' until my next dose on Thursday! Trying to eat healthily and do some HIIT workouts at home as I'm off for 2 weeks (then find time to keep that going when I'm back at work).😕

Hello, may I join in please? I am expecting my first dose in the post tomorrow. I’m looking for some advice, should I take it straight away, or wait until after the weekend? I’m cooking for 15 people on Sunday. I love food, and preparing food, and I’m wondering if this works, if it’ll take away the joy of food over the weekend, if that makes sense. Is there a right time to take a first dose? I am also excited to get started though.
Age 57
SW 15st 11lbs
Height 5’ 9”
BMI 32
i’m also a bit worried about saggy skin! Would collagen help this?

SausageRoll90 · 14/04/2025 20:21

Gosh I've eaten too much/drank too much water after a meal because wow my stomach is uncomfortable. It's like I have a stitch but more uncomfortable.

I had a medium jacket potato with homemade Bolognese and salad. I didn't eat all of the potato as it was too much but then I finished my drink afterwards and in total was nearly a pint of sugar free squash and now I'm uncomfortable 😣 rookie mistake.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to drink more between meals so I don't make this mistake again in an attempt to keep my fluids up. xx
