You’ll be fine with the ones from Amazon, they’ll just hurt slightly more going in, advice was more aimed at those who struggle with needles x

Ahh brill. Yeah I'm pretty ok with needles. I mean I don't particularly like them (who does?!) but I had fragmin through my pregnancy with my son and those bad boys hurt like a bitch haha these are SOOOO much easier 😂

StrikeForever · 25/04/2025 10:45

Grrr! This is my injection and weigh in day. I weighed myself yesterday (as we do). Weighed again this morning and the number is 0.6kg more than yesterday which would only be a tiny loss for the week. I’m feeling very indigent and I’m taking yesterday's figure as the real one 😳

I’m W4D2 and am struggling with constipation a bit. Since I started I’ve gone from every day to every 2-3 days which was fine as it wasn’t causing me any discomfort but now it’s getting to 4 days and it’s not great. Think I’ll be going to the chemist for stool softeners this morning, any recommendations for other things to try? Coffee usually does the trick but it’s had no effect 😬

What have you been eating? Are you getting plenty of leafies?

I eat a fair amount of veg but haven’t had as many leafy greens this week to be fair. I’ll up that and see how I go.

I have had issues with this. It has got slightly better with me eating 6 prunes a day and 3 litres of water

wordywitch · 25/04/2025 11:26

3 lites of water would see me living in the loo all day! 😄 Wish my bladder was what it used to be

I am Having stir fry every day at the moment and am very regular, maybe twice a day 😖 TMI but we need to discuss ladies 😂😂

combined with the tablespoon of oil to fry it, it gives a nice combination of leafy and crunchy veg and is veg heavy, anyway just an idea

topped with salmon/chicken and you can put a spoonful of seeds in - getting up to 60-70g protein!

I'm about half way through week 2 and struggled a bit yesterday, this week has been very inconsistent for me in terms of food noise coming and going. I have even checked the quantity in the pen a couple of times as I have been wondering if I somehow managed not to inject myself properly as it's been so different to last week. Ended up going to bed at 7:30pm last night to read just to stop myself trawling the fridge and cupboards to see what I could eat! Feeling much better this morning though and very proud of myself that I got through it with only four unplanned mini eggs consumed and still below my TDEE 🎉.

Part of MJ use for me is about help to develop better long term habits so I probably shouldn't be surprised that when I'm at a bit of a loose end in the house my instinct is still to have a snack of some sort, it's only been 10 days after all and we know the 2.5mg is meant to be to let our bodies get used to the meds more than anything else.

First week was great so I was thinking I might stay on 2.5mg for my next pen but I'm now also leaning towards doing 3.75 if I can get that out for my 'golden dose', seeing how that goes, and then stepping up to 5 after that. Will be really interested to hear how those ahead of me get on with similar strategies, it's so good to have the benefit of everyone else's experience.

Ethela · 25/04/2025 11:52

Whats going on with me - lost 9lb week one - nothing since - now W4d5.

Anyone read the older threads and seen this?

I am doing IF at max 1200 a day which has been easy as I am getting good supression.

I live out the toilet at work at the moment lol. Hoping my bladder gets stronger!

Some good steady losses, well done everyone, I think it can be disheartening when it’s not a big loss but 1-2lb a week is better as you’re less likely to be losing muscle.

For those looking at needles for the golden dose I would recommend using luer lock syringes, any random needle to draw the liquid from the pen, and then an insulin needle (yellow base) to inject.
the ones on Amazon will work fine but when you pierce the pen and draw up the liquid you will be blunting the needle a bit so it’ll hurt more when you come to inject it in your skin.
With the above you use the random colour needle on the syringe to draw up the liquid, then change the needle tip to a yellow insulin one and then use that to inject into your subcut areas like stomach/arms.
someone up thread has linked the pharmacy supplies website.

I have bought the Luer Lock syringes and small, superthin needles to inject (33G 4mm)
But I didn't buy any needles to draw up the liquid. Which ones do you recommend? Thanks :)

W2D2 and constipation has hit. Not a fan of prunes. So, fruit, veg, water, water, water...... Fingers crossed this does the trick!

Appartently 3 chopped up kiwis (skin still on) before bed does the trick for a timed morning evacuation.

Peppermint tea and dried apricots were recommended to me post surgery and they did the trick.

Love kiwi fruit - but skin on......
Already on peppermint tea before bed so will continue with that, and love dried apricots so will buy some of those. Thank you!

Love kiwi fruit - but skin on......mix with yogurt?

BadSpellaSpellaSpella · 25/04/2025 12:55

I eat kiwi fruit like an apple with the skin on which sounds like insane behaviour but it's honestly fine and alot easier to eat.

Crikeyalmighty · 25/04/2025 13:42

I didn’t know kiwi fruit skin was eatable!! You learn something new every day on here

Bigfatsunandclouds · 25/04/2025 14:01

I've just ordered my new pen as I didn't want to wait until w4 in case it didn't arrive in time (I'm currently w3 day5) and despite my insistence when I started that I would remain on 2.5 I've found in relying on my willpower a lot more so I'm going to try 3.75 and eek up to 5 if I need it!

I agree - I tried using a syringe that had the needle already attached, I managed to draw up the dose ok but the needle was so blunt it would not inject into skin - bit of a panic stab ensued! Won't do that again, so have ordered from UKMEDI 1ml syringes plus 25g needles to draw up and 32g needles to inject ( as finer). Was frustrated at lack of suppression by w3 dose so went for 3.75 as my week 4 - not actually getting much from that either! Onwards to 5mg methinks!

Ah now I’m really worried about getting the bonus dose! I got syringes with the needle already attached.. any way to avoid blunting it/blunting it less?! I’ve already got them so don’t really want to waste them.. how bad was it with the blunt needle? Was it particularly painful or just required a bit more force?

I've done the same with the needles already attached 🫤 I won't be trying the 3.75mg until next week so let me know how you get on. I'm guna give it a try anyway I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

@fox919 Sorry to scare you! It wouldn't go into the skin when I applied the minimal pressure that you need with the pen. It did take a bit more pressure, and it did work; I wouldn't say it hurt - it was more of a panic about wasting a dose and what was I going to do!

I won’t be doing it until after you (4th 2.5 next week, then bonus dose the following week) so please let ME know how it goes 😊

NotsosunnyShropshire · 25/04/2025 16:14

I took my 3rd jab last night. Just ordered the 5mg syringe. Plan on using the golden dose after my 4th, thenI’ll start my new dose. Figure it might ease me in to the next level (plus, I’ve paid for it, lol).

Try having one electrolyte drink a day, I find it helps me retain water better, I still go to the toilet lots but it doesn’t feel like it’s flushing straight through me
