Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

@50FootWave same - I’m really terrible at remembering to drink water and a bit nervous about how I might feel if I don’t drink enough!

Anyone know how much we’re supposed to drink?

I have collected my pen and it’s waiting in the fridge until til I get back from holiday next week.

RhaenysRocks · 28/03/2025 17:33

@violetmondays 2 litres a day is the usual recommendation. I find it helps to treat myself to a nice new bottle with timer markings on.

Mounraine · 28/03/2025 17:40

Water is one thing I don’t struggle with, easily put away 3 litres a day, more if work is a talking day or I’ve done a gym class.

I almost wish my pen could come before Thursday. I’m obsessed with reading and planning.

taylorsdoingapart · 28/03/2025 17:51

I'm starting on Sunday. Been lurking here for ages. Can't wait

Hello all! I’m hoping to join you in April too.

I’ve been on the fence about WLI for a while but after doing more research I think it’s worth a try. I piled on 20kg in the space of 9 months in 2022/23 due to a medical condition that limits my mobility and a hormonal imbalance. I’ve been trying for over a year to lose weight but have only lost and gained the same 5kg over and over. I eat relatively healthy already but being limited on exercise makes it difficult to lose and I have a sweet tooth. I also tend to overeat when I’m stressed or upset so I’m hoping to change that.

I’ve got an NHS health check on the 7th and assume they will do my BMI, BP, bloods, etc.. which I was thinking I’d wait until I have the results of that to start and also to see if I might qualify for them on the NHS though I think that’s unlikely from what I’ve read? My BMI is currently 34.2 and I have mild hypertension (not medicated) and non-alcoholic fatty liver.

I have tried to get it via the nhs and it’s a 9 month long program and you’ll likely be turned down.
I did all the counselling for bariatric surgery a couple of years ago and did everything they asked of me then at the end said I wasn’t heavy enough
my bmi is high and I have autoimmune problems which affects my mobility
this is why I decided to just bite the bullet and pay private for mounjuro

wordywitch · 28/03/2025 18:19

That’s what I’m thinking @lovemycbf that I’m unlikely to qualify so might as well go private. I think it’s probably useful to get some baseline bloods done anyway though, so that I can see how those improve after I’ve lost the weight.

Did you have any side effects and how do you feel now you’ve finished it? Are you starving all the time or has it changed ged your approach to food?

Edited

I was fine up until the 7.5mg pen then I got terrible diarrhea every week. I am a teacher and running to the loo was unbearable. I dropped down to 5mg, but still the diarrhea continued. I ended up doing clicks for only 2.5mg and the side affects subsided. That is why my pen lasted nearly 2 months rather than 30 days. I stayed at 2.5mg until my pens finished. By then my BMI was 24.

I am not starving all the time. I am more mindful about what I eat and portion sizes. I have continued the exercise averaging 11-12k steps a day and running a bit when no one is looking!

MrsCastle · 28/03/2025 19:52

Just went to the leisure centre and weighed myself. Not as bad as expected but I just don’t want my knees to hurt anymore!!!

4.5 stones to loose but I’ll feel a heap better after just 1-2

just ordered, waiting for approval!! If so will receive next Sunday

im not seeing as expensive as I’m spending at least a minimum of £10 a day eating crap at the moment in addition to food shop and that’s £300 a month I won’t be spending if it works!

Doidontimmm · 28/03/2025 20:44

Started today 4pm. Bit of a funny taste in my mouth. Couldn’t even feel the jab!

Tried every diet & think my age (52) means it’s just so much harder.

SW: 11st 9lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs
5ft 1

Any reduced hunger or "food noise," yet?

I was 2pm jab, had usual dinner, which was big. Felt very full afterwards, and didn't want pudding, which I usually have.

Sat here watching films, not snacking! I do also have a cold, but that's never stopped me wanting to eat previously 🤷‍♀️ Wondering if it's a placebo or something, because it seems it's worked quicker than I expected.

No side effects as of yet.

TC4 · 28/03/2025 21:13

Hi everyone, I’d like to join the group. I have just done my first jab (now sitting here worrying about side effects lol) but fingers crossed for good results. I’m glad to have you all along for the same ride.

SW 98kg

GW (for now) 80kg

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 28/03/2025 21:56

@QS90i normally jab at night and have full effect by morning, its very quick. Good luck with everything 😀

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 28/03/2025 22:16

I've just collected my 1st pen and suddenly very nervous about side effects and how I manage them. I can't decide when to do it. I work from home Thursday /Friday so maybe wednesday night if side effects happen quickly or Monday if they take a few days. Does anyone know?

My diet is pretty bad so I'm wondering how I improve it. I don't think I really know how to eat well. I'm size 18 and have a lot to lose.

Hi @HateThese4Leggedbeastsi was nervous too, but once you’ve done it once you’ll feel better. The needle is very small and doesn’t hurt. I’ve not had many side effects but the effects feel strongest for me 2-3 days after jab, others have a more rapid response. I found I had burps and mild nausea at the beginning but have now learnt that occurs when I’ve not eaten enough. A couple of crackers, a baby bel or small bit of chicken really helps. Rennies and buscapan are useful to have on hand just in case you get symptoms. Try to enough drink water as I ,issued thirst signals at the beginning as all the thirst and hunger noise was so much quieter.

i find lean meat or fish with green veg is a great main meal, i tend to have yoghurt and paleo granola for breakfastlunch. I like salad with chicken, and if you’re out an need a lunch the subway chicken salad is pretty good. I find a 2 meal day works best for me as I don’t really fancy food until mid morning on MJ, which is saying something, I’m not naturally one to miss meals in the past 😀

50FootWave · 29/03/2025 07:35

Morning everyone, how are new starters feeling?

@OpheliaABC are you starting this weekend?

Mine is arriving today. I'm desperate to start, but if I end up with awful side effects whilst we're away (and it's a city break), I'll be so cross. Plus I'll ruin it for others.

I'll use the next 2 weeks to increase my water and stock up on healthy freezer staples.

lovemycbf · 29/03/2025 07:50

Good morning
feeling absolutely fine
first injection was Tuesday and only a metallic taste so far 👍🏻😬

50FootWave · 29/03/2025 07:52

Thanks, @lovemycbf ! Has your appetite noticeably reduced?

I'm just soaking up everyone's experiences until I start on 13/04!

Doidontimmm · 29/03/2025 08:14

Good morning,

I had a strange taste in my mouth last night and have woken up with a mild headache and nausea. I also have a very strange heavy feeling in my stomach.

I don’t feel like eating anything so have water & a black tea at the moment & I normally have breakfast at 7.15 before work.

lovemycbf · 29/03/2025 08:19

Yes appetite has significantly decreased so I’m hoping long may it continue!

50FootWave · 29/03/2025 08:31

Appreciate the update, @Doidontimmm and I hope you feel OK over the day and at work.

TC4 · 29/03/2025 08:34

I’m feeling fine so far I’m not out of bed yet as I’m being lazy but feel ok at the moment

QS90 · 29/03/2025 08:57

@50FootWave Big appetite suppression here too. No negative side effects as yet - long may it last!

TC4 · 29/03/2025 09:38

Yeah im not hungry at all, haven’t had breakfast who knows if thats the jab or just me 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ im about to go out for the day so have to see how the day goes the plan was for fish and chips later. I think I had better take something to have on the drive as I don’t want to start feeling strange after not having anything at all

wordywitch · 29/03/2025 09:41

Where is everyone ordering their meds from? Which ones are most reputable?

Skinni · 29/03/2025 09:42

Is everyone planning to just respond to their appetite and eat less or to count calories / macros and proactively eat different healthy foods? I suppose I am asking are you taking a passive or active approach?
