Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Took my first dose on Thursday evening. I’ve not really had any side effects. It was my first day back at work today and since dinnertime, I’ve been so lethargic. I felt like if I’d sat down, I’d of probably fell asleep. I’ve come home and just been struggling to stay awake. I work in manufacturing so I’m always busy and I’ve never had a problem with temperature before. How does everyone manage this during working hours? Any advice?

SausageCatYellow · 31/03/2025 18:49

I took my first dose at 5pm yesterday. I woke during the night and again in the morning with quite bad nausea, however it has subsided on its own.

So far today I have had a few spoonfuls of no fat yoghurt and a banana. I have no desire to eat. Want to stay healthy so will make a better effort to eat if lack of hunger persists tomorrow.

37, 16 1/2 stone.

TC4 · 31/03/2025 19:27

I took my first one on Friday evening I’ve not really felt to bad a bit of a headache/dizzy head one morning but i think I needed to drink and I also had something to eat which helped. I’ve not experienced that feeling of I must eat now and I need to eat sugary stuff. I definitely listened to my body tonight I had dinner and had a very slight uncomfortable feeling of fullness, I could have pushed through it if I wanted but i didn’t and now I have tomorrow’s dinner half sorted already - I’m guessing that’s the affects of the injection but I was also out working all night last night so could be that reason that I don’t want to eat but we will see.

ValliBec · 31/03/2025 19:43

Hi everyone, can I join?
I received my pen on Saturday and trying to work out the best time to jab. Im also really nervous about side effects and feeling exhausted - I have small children so definitely no chance of taking a nap and sleep is thin on the ground as it is! 😅
ive put on 4 stone over the last 6 years and I just feel so heavy and sluggish. My confidence is really low too so anything that makes me feel a bit better about myself is very welcome! Think I will jab tomorrow eeek!

66babe · 31/03/2025 19:51

I got my pen at 1410 Saturday and jabbed by 1600 !! Just go for it
No side effects
No amazing transformation yet 🤭however I finished my dinner and thought “ oh I do feel quite full” so not snacked since and not planning to either

Not based on anything scientific, but I'd recommend taking your dose close to bedtime. That way you will hopefully sleep though any immediate side effects.

Good luck!

ValliBec · 31/03/2025 21:10

@SausageCatYellow Thank you! Sleeping through any side effects would be the dream 😃 I hope your journey is going well!

wordywitch · 31/03/2025 21:47

I ordered my first pen on Saturday, got an email this morning saying it will be a few days before it gets approved due to delays and then have to wait for it to arrive so am hoping I’ll be able to start by the end of the week or early next. Desperate to get going! I will live vicariously through you all until then.

SausageCatYellow · 31/03/2025 22:15

Good luck to everyone else starting out. I'm only ending day 2 but feel very positive about actively doing something. I've spent every Sunday/Monday for years trying to convince myself that this will be the week I get it together, but it never works out. Having something new to try that really seems to be helping is so encouraging.

I'm loving having access to this online community, other than my immediate family I haven't told anyone. I think I feel a little embarrassed, not that I would think anyone else should for doing the same thing! Does anyone else relate to this?

Led921900 · 31/03/2025 22:26

Joining! Expecting mine next week.
anyone seen a good thread for tips on starting, avoiding exhaustion etc?

Queenelsarules · 31/03/2025 22:31

I've just done my first dose, now off to bed, let's see how tomorrow goes, night all 😴

I can relate. I have told only my middle daughter (19). I guess there’s a stigma, isn’t there, like people might think we’re taking the easy way out. Not true - it’s not like it melts the fat away! We still have to put the effort in for it to work. And for many of us, who’ve been on yo-yo diets over the years, it’s a last resort. But I’m sure a very good one!

@Led921900 for tips and ideas, do a search for earlier monthly starter threads. I started on New Year’s Eve so have gone through with the January 2025 group who are really nice and very chatty. But I also read the November 2024 starters threads in full, right from the beginning and they are great fun. The topics have flowed as the group progresses from nervous at the start, to delight with the first few pounds lost, confidence as goals start to get ticked off, and boredom as members realise they are in it for the long haul. Several are now moving to maintenance and others will be in the group for months to come. I’ve learned loads from them including the benefits of kiwi fruit to avoid constipation, and beauty hints and styling. I haven’t told anyone irl other than DH, so the threads have been my support group, though I’m very much a lurker. I hope you find your cheerleaders on here.

JMSA · 31/03/2025 23:32

This group is great but I’m mindful that it will move on quickly.
Does anyone know if any good Mounjaro Facebook groups, for success and idea sharing?

JMSA · 31/03/2025 23:32

of not if

Keep an eye on your thyroid symptoms, I had to reduce my Levothyroxine dose as I was over medicated after starting on Mounjaro. It's been great for me, I've lost quickly when I really struggled to lose at all before 😊

Hi I’m also on levothyroxine and just about to start Mounjaro. I only have a blood test once a year to check my thyroxine levels, how did you know you needed to alter your Levothyroxine and by what amount? Did you have an extra blood test? Thank you.

I lost 3 stone with 4 pens. Mind you, my body did not agree with the 7.5mg pen so I had to do clicks to get 3.75mg out. That pen lasted for 8 weeks. I know there is a 30 day limit, but I did not want to waste precious doses and it was absolutely fine with good suppression. With discounts, 3 stone cost me £500.

If someone had said "would you pay £500 to be 3 stone lighter, be a size 12 not size 18, improve my health and self confidence...?" I would do it in a heart beat.

My dad died of diabetes related illnesses after having a quadruple heart bypass, leg amputation and going blind. My health is my wealth.

I started in July 2024 (13st 4) and reached my goal in October (10st 8). I am now 9st 11 (5ft 6 and size 10) and have maintained (or lost 1.5lb per month since finishing MJ).

It worked for me. Good luck April starters!

Hi when you say you lost it with 4 pens, how does each pen work, do you automatically go up a dose with each pen or an you stay on a lower dose if you find it works still. I’ve read about people ordering stronger pens but doing less clicks? to make it last longer?
Also do you know anything about the bonus dose in each pen and ordering extra needles to make use of the bonus dose. Thank you.

2025health · 01/04/2025 06:51

A round up from last couple of days - took jab on Saturday evening.

No side effects other than feeling ever so slightly nauseous a couple of times for the last 2 days.

Food noise completely gone- I see delicious foods that I would normally be picking at all day and feel completely benign towards them- it’s a weird feeling! I wouldn’t say I had suppression / still able to eat just no desire to

Currently sat trying to eat a small breakfast and can’t get it down, feels like suppression has kicked in today. Interesting day ahead!

No nasty side effects yet but given the suppression… maybe todays the day :-)

There isn’t a page 29?

What happens when you reach goal? I have read somewhere that the weight piles back on once people stop injecting. Is this true? Well done on your weight loss!

QS90 · 01/04/2025 07:36

@diian You look incredible, well done!

Hope this isn't a rude question, how is your skin doing? I've currently got very similar body to your "before" photos, and a similar amount to lose. I'm mid 30s.

Mounraine · 01/04/2025 08:12

Diian and I have very similar starting points. The thought of being 10st 8 in 18 weeks is unfathomable to me.
