Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

I’m probably in the minority but I went with Boots. I know it’s more expensive but after speaking to my GP and hearing his opinions I wanted to go with a reputable company that do all the proper checks etc and have good support with qualified medical staff. I might switch down the line if I get on with it ok.

I had exactly the same logic. I'm starting in Wednesday to try and time any side effects for my WFH days.

QS90 · 31/03/2025 00:35

Hello everyone! Ate sensibly and until full today, didn't feel like I was denying myself anything / forcing myself to eat pants meals I didn't want. Even had 6 squares of 70% chocolate and enjoyed it and felt sated, which is unheard of.

At the end of the day, counted my calories, more out of interest than anything, and I had eaten about 1,400 of good quality food! At 16 stone, and having walked quite a few miles today, I'm really pleased!

Glad to hear it sounds like it's also going well for those of you who have started!

My levels should peak tomorrow I think (three days after the jab)? Hoping it won't bring on any side effects.

I'm using NutraCheck to keep an eye on my macros rather than worrying about calorie-counting. I've been focused on eating fibre and got that pretty much sorted, but more recently I've been looking at my protein. In just a few days I've learned that I am really eating too much salt (which I didn't realise).

Might be worth looking looking at the salt you lose when you lose weight though. I'm no expert, but I think when a person starts a diets, they lose water weight at the beginning, before the fat. Something to do with glycogen stores. So in some cases, a lot of salt can get "flushed out" of your system.

Just a thought, it might be worth waiting a couple of weeks before trying to reduce salt. Although if that's not the case, hopefully someone will be along to correct me!

I used the monj website that lists all the providers and current discount codes. I intend to swap about as needed to keep the cost down as I really don't have £100+ a month spare but my kids each have more spent on their hobbies etc per month so I feel like I need to prioritise me. Im hoping that the fact I'm investing in this will help me stay on track.

I used that too. I went for Farmeci since it was the cheapest with the code. Did you go for that one? I completed the application form today, but I haven’t received an acknowledgment. That’s a bit disconcerting. I’m hoping it just means they don’t do computer responses, just humans.

Rosiejovi · 31/03/2025 07:44

Hello all! Can I join you? I took my first dose of monjaro last night so I am treating today as day 1! I am 43 19 stone 8lb 5ft6.

I'm still reeling from getting on the scales for the first time in about 3 years! So I've got quite a lot of weight to lose. It's quite s daunting task but I'm hopeful this will work.

No side effects so far, but I do feel hungry this morning so maybe its not kicked in yet. I'll start off with a pint of water and some multi
Vitamins and see how I feel after that.

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Morning everyone, and new people. It's so helpful hearing how everyone is getting along, and even though I can't start until 13/04, reading all the updates is really informative.

I'm tracking all my calories and exercise this week on My Fitness Pal, out of curiosity: am keen to see what my protein levels are, as I'm a bit of a carb lover!

Good luck to all those starting this week.

lovelylight · 31/03/2025 09:02

Hello all! Took my first jab this morning and I was so nervous my hands were shaking 🙈 I'm a real wimp when it comes to nausea and vomiting so I'm hoping to avoid those side effects, but I know that MJ is my only real option to finally shift some of this weight - I have PCOS and I normally have to be so so strict with calories and exercise just to maintain my weight.

Breakfast today was a small bowl of porridge with raspberries and pumpkin seeds, a probiotic drink, and a large glass of sugar free squash! Good luck to all new starters, we've got this 💪

RhaenysRocks · 31/03/2025 09:14

@StrikeForever no I used Curely. No photos required just a 5 min video WhatsApp call. Got an email today to say it's been dispatched so hopefully starting in a couple of days.

Doing mine this morning - found this which might help others. One of the comments said that although the video is longer - it only takes 15 seconds.

Thank you, I’m in to fasting though, so keep an eye on electrolytes already 🙂

Hi Skinni

Did you forget to post a link? Smile

Second full day for me today (I jabbed on Saturday night), no side effects as yet. I'm not getting that feeling of being 'full' and needing to stop yet but I am eating less and not been ravenous like normal. Yoghurt, fruit and some seeds for my breakfast which has satisfied me

Whoops - just injected.

Proud of myself for getting through each of the steps right from considering my own health is worth it and I need to prioritise it.

@Skinni that’s really helpful, thank you.

clayspice2 · 31/03/2025 12:40

Am starting this week look forward to seeing everyone's posts and sharing the journey. I am 15 stone 12, menopausal and underactive thyroid. Despite being very active am struggling to lose any weight and if I lapse at all - holiday/night out etc I gain weight. This hasn't been helped by a recent injury which has led to me gaining 10lbs in the last 3 months, and injury slow to heal because of weight - vicious circle. I suffer from food noise all the time, am hoping this helps.

Queenelsarules · 31/03/2025 13:05

I only ordered last night and my first injection has arrived already! I was expecting it to take a few days. Does anyone have any tips for the best time of day to rake it? I've heard some say before bed as then side effects less noticeable, what works for all of you?

taylorsdoingapart · 31/03/2025 13:30

SW 206lbs, TW 133lb. 42 5ft4

Took my first jab yesterday morning. Feeling really proud of myself and I'm really scared of needles. It took me ages to actually do it and then I was amazed that it was fine. No appetite suppression yet, but two things that I think might be symptoms - my stomach is gurgling really loudly, two of my family (who don't know I'm on mounjaro) have asked if I'm hungry and I had really really vivid dreams last night. That's all so far.

Keep an eye on your thyroid symptoms, I had to reduce my Levothyroxine dose as I was over medicated after starting on Mounjaro. It's been great for me, I've lost quickly when I really struggled to lose at all before 😊

I've always done before bed but no particular reason beyond being able to start a whole day fresh once I was on it. So I weighed in the morning on the day I started, then jabbed at night. I was lucky enough to have suppression from when I woke up, and it was easy to change most eating habits very quickly.

The one I struggled with was eating everything on my plate, and portion sizes, so have reduced plate and bowl sizes, also serving an amount and know I can come back for more if I need it.

That is the change I needed to make so that I'm more able to cope with maintaining in the future

Wow! I’m jealous - I ordered Friday and not even an update email. When are you going to take the plunge so you think?

I’m a however, really pleased to report I’ve been to Lidl and not bought any crap..was thinking I maybe feel better already because there seems to be an end in sight. Usually I’d binge right up until the last minute before starting a new eating plan

anyone else had similar???

Namerequired · 31/03/2025 14:46

I take it we aren’t allowed to share codes as my message was deleted?

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 31/03/2025 15:13

There is a specific board to share codes otherwise the monthly starter groups would drown in messages of people sharing codes

Great news. Thanks for the heads up about Levothyroxine. I take it too.
