Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

Hi guys,

I’ve ordered my first pen today so I’m completely new to this!
Super anxious about side effects.
My starting weight is 18st 11lb.
I had lost over 3st just calorie counting in order to have fertility treatment but I’ve put all of that back on now. My baby has just turned 1 and I have lost 17lb counting again over the last couple of months but feel like I need more of a push and help to block out all of the “noise”.

Any tips for starting would be really appreciated please!x

I had my first jab last Friday evening. I was quite apprehensive at first, and I’d waited a few days to do the first jab. Honestly, it was painless. I know everyone is different, for me though the food noise was gone immediately. The difference this had made is unbelievable, and my head just feels clear! Good luck, I hope everything goes well for you.

@EchoNova I've suffered a bit with constipation and prune juice did the trick for me, plus increasing fibre in general. I take two psyllium husk tablets a day with a glass of water and am having a glass of prune juice every other day. I definitely think consuming fibre is helping. Last night's dinner was quinoa, roasted veg, nuts and seeds and no bathroom issues this morning. I've heard eating kiwi every day is also helpful.

I'm still feeling good. I'm not sure whether the suppression is there or I'm just relying on willpower at the moment but in general I feel clear headed and in a good place. I've ordered 5mg for my second pen but will do 3.75mg to start with and see how I get on. I figured I could always use a 5mg pen to do a 2.5mg dose but couldn't the other way round.

In other news my GP has just contacted me to inform me that the online pharmacy has informed them I'm taking Mounjaro and do I consent to the GP sharing my medical information with my prescriber. I was actually pleasantly surprised that they're doing due diligence!

I'm stuggling the other way with consitpation (really bad) so does anyone have any remedy's - I'm taking lactulose each morning which doens't really seem to be helping. I had all bran and a pear for breakfast, and have ducloax in the cupbaord for emergencies so might need to take that out I think just to clear it. I drink 3 to 4 litres of water a day so I'm at a loss. I think it's probably the increase in protein that is causing it.

Took my 3rd jab yesterday and weighed this morning and I've lost 3lbs! so I'm really happy that's 8lbs in 2 weeks which I'm thrilled about.

GW: 10st

Psyllium husks help me. You can get them as capsules but I use the powder which I have to take in water very quickly as it’s awful stuff - it turns into a gel type mass. I know the capsules would be easier or I could sprinkle the powder in things but you have to make sure you drink enough at the time so it’s easier for me to use the powder.

Prune juice (benefit one it’s in a brown carton) can get from Tesco. Dates (4 a day) and lots of fibre! Sprinkle sunflower seeds on dinners etc. and minimum 2-3 litres of water a day x

Eeek just took my first jab, I’ve been debating it since I picked it up over a week ago! But I’m wfh tomorrow so just went for it. Has anybody had any nice bonus unexpected POSITIVE side effects? Eg I saw something about how there may potentially be a link with improving depression and anxiety?

Yes, i've long suspected I have ADHD or similar - my brain has always been noisy, disordered and i feel emotions to the extreme. I've also bordered on alcohol issues for a while. I took my second jab yesterday. I only lost a pound in the first week but the effect its had on my mental heath is nothing short of miraculous. I've had a couple of drinks but only when we have been out for a meal i don't crave alcohol, my brain chatter is pretty much non existent and for the first time in years i feel level. I hope it continues - but if it doesn't its given me an insight into how i should feel and i'll probably try and get a diagnosis.

I have literally just taken my first dose so I guess I will join you all as a March starter. I am only just on the cusp of obesity so I am hoping to keep my dose as low as I can.

Kate240 i only started Monday but yesterday I had a slice of Wholemeal toast for breakfast, a banana and a handful of cashew nuts for lunch, and for dinner I had a small portion of spaghetti bolognese, mostly meat and sauce because I wanted protein. I had some indigestion last night and a very rumbley tummy, I think it was the onions. I had the same breakfast and lunch today, having roast chicken for dinner tonight. I will try to eat a good portion of chicken and veg, will probably skip the potatoes. It's very weird not feeling hungry. The advice seems to be small portions of plain food, concentrating on protein, and drink lots of water.

@Kate240 I'm trying to focus on keeping things very simple meal-wise. Back to basics, increasing the amount of veg and pulses in my diet, less snacking and viewing it as a lifestyle change. I'm trying to keep protein and fibre in mind too.

It may be of no use but here is my list of meals I jotted down at the start of the month which has formed the basis of my food shopping.

Took my third 2.5mg last night. No side effects but food noise is back today! I'm at work and there is a plate of home made chocolate chip cookie staring at me which up until now I wouldn't have been interested in!
Anyone had similar experience and its gone away again over subsequent days or did you have to wait til dose increase for it to disappear again?

I'm not sure if i'm just becoming a tad obsessive over the whole thing and that's what is making me think about food all of the time....i think to myself...ooh is my dose still working, am i thinking about food?...yes I am now!

I definitely noticed in the third week of 2.5 the food noise was creeping back. I just ate a bit more mindfully and tried to hold on for 5ml.
5ml seems not a lot different to working 2.5 actually. Food noise has largely gone and I only eat what I fancy, when I do.

@Whereissummer24 me too with the brain chatter and mild addiction, it's just switched off, this is the calmest I have been ever I think, and I'm in my fifties. I've long suspected neuro differences, been mis diagnosed with anxiety, depression and been on every anti depressants going plus diazepam at times, None of them have ever worked, this is a miracle drug for me, considering that many of the anti depressants made me feel even more ill. I'm also losing the weight which is obviously why I started it so win win. If only I could get this from the doctor, but I doubt it. Surely when this drug was trialled some people must have reported feelings like this no?

@Kate240 the "what I ate today" thread is really helpful.

Today I've had
0% fat greek yogurt, strawbs, granola
Ham salad wrap, veg sticks, houmous.
2 yogurt covered rice cakes
Dinner is chicken and roasted veg.

Some people are eating very very little, which for me wouldn't be sustainable. I'm trying to eat in a way that I can carry on post MJ. Changing Mt eating habits, eating good healthy meals that are satisfying. Far fewer snacks, abd better ones when I do have them.

Just catching up with all the updates, it's great most people are doing well so far.

Alas for me I have zero suppression on 2.5mg and am feeling very hungry. I can't tell the MJ is making any difference at all. Bit disappointing as was hoping for some early wins but I know it doesn't work like that for everyone. I presume this is unlikely to change until I go up a dose, I am two doses in so far. I have pre-emptively ordered my 5mg pen for next month. On the plus side, also means zero side effects.

I am trying hard to eat well anyway and have had zero crisps, biscuits or chocolate for 8 days which is a new record. I very much enjoyed my 2 days of appetite suppression in week 1 and sincerely hope to have some back again in a few weeks! If I can lose a bit by myself in the meantime that will be a bonus.

I've had an awful week this week so far with side effects, contact nausea, constipation which has resolved but now really awful wind pains. Fridays are Jab days so I expected to feel a bit better by today but it's still bad 😕

Week 1 done and 5lbs down 😁so happy with this and luckily I’ve had no major side effects and have felt good all week. Did have a cheeky couple of pints of cider on Sunday afternoon and got 3/4 of the way through the second and couldn’t finish it then the stomach ache, sickness and eventually 💩 came through but woke up
monday morning fine so just need to watch for next time 😉

i have lost these 5lbs many, many times before only to put them back on with a couple of indulgent weekends. I hoping to keep losing.

i was lucky and no real side effects, no snacking felt easy which was a help.

do people get the ‘hot neck’ with the second jab as well as the first?

this is my first day on MJ and I’ve really not eaten very much today at all, I know I need to increase the protein but how? ironically I usually eat quite a lot of protein, Greek yogurt & nuts for breakfast, tuna pitta for lunch, chicken rice and veg for dinner, but today I’ve had hardly anything because not hungry…..is the aim to eat even if not hungry? I’m confused. Also what exercise are People doing for muscle preservation.

@Ally638 I didn't eat very much at all my first day, but have settled into a bit of a routine now. I often have a protein yogurt for breakfast, or greek yogurt and fruit. Lunch varies, but I'm enjoying either a wrap (ham, sakad, houmous today) or ryvitas snd f/f philadelphia, veg sticks and houmous. Dinner usually chicken/fish, stir fry/roasted veg. Brown rice. Or a nice sakad.

I’ve just done injection 3. Went full 2.5mg.

hopefully not a mistake as I felt seriously awful last week with nausea. Here is hoping it settles.
Has been contemplating fewer clicks to get 1.25mg.

Effects are amazing. I’ve only gone over my calorie limit once since I started and that was down to poor planning/ Habit purchasing my usual itsu sushi box (which was actually too much food) .
