Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

Hi guys 👋🏼

I’ve been following your journeys and wanted to say well done to everyone regardless of the effects! It’s never easy starting new medication and not knowing how your body will react.

Ive held off starting Mounjaro as it was my birthday this month but today is day one! Argh haha!

I have ME/CFS which is debilitating, depression and binge eating disorder. I went from 10 stone to 19 stone due to binging and I’m miserable as I can’t control it.

I’ve done my research and based of the side effects some of you have had I’ve decided to start with half doses hoping any side effects are minimal as people with ME/CFS are more sensitive to medications.

Soooo… starting weight is 18.6 😭 I’m about to inject 30 clicks on the 2.5mg pen and will see how I go. Goal weight in my head is 10 stone, I’m 5’4, but will see how I go as any loss is a win! My main aim is stopping the binge eating urges as it’s ruled my life for 12 years.

I’m so glad for this thread and everyone is so supportive of one another!

Keep going everyone! Apparently the side effects ease after a month or so 🙏🏼

It's acid, sulphur burps, diarreah. I'm losing so much sleep as I'm up all night!!!

Sorry - doesn’t sound fun. My provider says this although only so helpful!

Additionally, if you’re experiencing mild side effects, like an upset stomach, nausea, diarrhoea or constipation, try avoiding spicy or greasy foods, sugary drinks or desserts. Choose bland, low-fat foods that contain a lot of water. These are easier for your body to digest, and mild flavours are less likely to irritate your stomach.

SharpOpalNewt · 24/03/2025 11:13

I've lost 10lbs now since first jab on 1st March. Absolutely delighted- have gone from heading towards obese to BMI 27.6 and that is just on 2.5mg. Hopefully this will do wonders for blood pressure and cholesterol also. NSV - my jeans were falling down yesterday when I was working in the garden- apologies to my neighbours for the builder's bum. Generally my size 12 clothes feel nice and comfortable and more capacious than a few weeks ago. My 5mg pen has just arrived and I will start that on Saturday.

I don't think I was getting things massively wrong before taking MJ- it is literally eating 200-300 less calories a day which has meant I've lost 2lbs+ a week. I did about three hours heavy work in the garden yesterday and couldn't even eat 1400 calories. It is smaller portions and fewer snacks really, and less alcohol. I am satisfied by small meals of 400 calories and don't tend to have a carb accompaniment in the evening. Am quite happy say with chicken tenders and a salad or a couple of portions of cooked veg and to not have a portion of baby potatoes. But then I quite often do have bread or pasta or potatoes for one meal a day, sometimes two.

The hunger suppression is not uniform or constant and I have to watch out for emotional eating/stress but generally speaking I am finding it so much easier to eat a bit less every day. I think the odd day I've had maybe 1800 calories - I hope this would be about my maintenance level when I get to goal.

Amjam2025 · 24/03/2025 11:21

Hello,

Hope you don't mind a late joiner!

I started MJ on 11th March (2.5mg) so I am almost at the end of my second week now, but I've only just discovered this wonderful thread. Hoping to get some support and advice too from anyone who started a little earlier than me :)

Stats:
Height = 5 foot, SW = 10.10lb, GW = 9.2lb ish depending on how i look.

First week I went down to 10.6lb so 4lb loss which i was happy with.
Due to weight in and do 3rd jab tomorrow (Tues 25th) but had a sneaky look on the scales this morning and only lost 1lb so CW is 10.5lb. I'm not going to lie, i was a bit disappointed. I know that slow and steady wins the race but i've eaten the same the past 5 or 6 days as I did the first week so not sure why the big difference in weight loss? Before I started on MJ I has already really cut back on my eating and lost 2lb so i dont think it was "water weight" in the first week of MJ loss!

I tend to eat: 2 weetabix for breakfast, crackers and yoghurt for lunch, half portion of family meal at tea time (chilli, spag bol etc). No snacks, plenty of fluids.

First week, felt full and had great supression most of the week. Second week, felt full for first 3/4 days then started to wear off past day or so. Suppression not as much as first week.

Anyone else had a much smaller weight loss in second week despite eating similar calories to first week?
Thanks :)

TheBossOfMe · 24/03/2025 11:29

Reweighed today after a Sunday at home when I had more control over food. One thing that I'm liking about this is it isn't dimming the pleasure I get from cooking - I absolutely love it and find researching recipes and cooking amazing meals a real stress reliever. I can still do all of that - just have no desire to then demolish all the food, am satisfied with a small portion size. The "food noise" suppression is more around snacks in between meals. And starting to feel some in regards to alcohol now. So last night was a fabulous dinner of Osso buco with risotto Milanese - loved prepping it, loved eating a small portion of it, had two glasses of a light white wine (as opposed to the heavy reds that I usually go for but have no desire for right now), no pudding, no late night fridge snacking. Scales starting to move again.

W3D4
SW 10st 4.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk)
CW 9st 11.1 BMI 24.3 - 7.5lb down. (Still overweight because of ethnicity)
GW 8st 6lb BMI 20.9 (low BMI advised as target by doctor)

Amazingly my waist measurement (which was a shocker and one of the reasons my doctor was so concerned about my weight) has shrunk significantly - now at 34.5, which is still ridiculous for my height, but much, much better than 4 weeks ago.

I'm happy with that progress - feels steady and achievable, and I'm managing to keep up my exercise routine on that loss (3x cardio, 3x weights a week), which is important to me.

Wk3 Day3 and I'm hungry! Not ravenous and no food noise for unhealthy food but I have had 2 healthy snacks already. Definitely increasing to 3.75mg on Saturday.

Was just about to post similar took my third jab last night. The previous two I had an instant fullness after the jab which continued to day 3-4. This time I don’t feel full and started to think about food again. Hands and feet’s still cold though let’s see tomorrow as that has been my peak “symptom” day so far

Hi - I've got long covid/CFS also - so can't up my exercise, although I'm trying really hard to keep mobile.

I'm also taking half a dose for now and on week three. I want to lose slowly and so far I'm 7lb down which I'm really pleased with.

As I've said above, for me it's been great because I don't have any 'diet side effects' of headaches/exhaustion which are just too much to manage on top of daily CFS symptoms. Good luck!

Wow, sounds like you're doing brilliantly, that's amazing!

TryForSpring · 24/03/2025 11:54

@cmh18, when I was finding out as much as possible about Mounjaro before starting, a lot of the info was from Americans as they were ahead of us. Lots of them recommended Peptobismol for acid and diarrhoea. You can now buy it in Boots:

This is so reassuring to hear 🙌🏼 I’ve read a couple CFS threads on here and some are having such a difficult time with side effects especially fatigue on top of their normal symptoms. I’m always worst in winter and already finding day to day really difficult, I’m hoping slow and steady will be the key!🙏🏼

I’m not worrying about the exercise part until I’m a few months into this and hopefully by then I’ll be feeling a bit better and able to return to weekly Pilates classes. I’m lucky as there’s a local class for people with health issues so it’s a lot lighter than normal Pilates but it still does me in for a couple days after. I’d definitely recommend Pilates for anyone with mobility issues though and it works on your core strength, posture and muscle strengthening.

Fatmumslim01 · 24/03/2025 12:17

Wk1 day 3 (?) here. Do people count jab day as day 1? So I injected on Fri and today's Mon so is that day 3 or 4?

Anyway I'm hungry today. Felt so stuffed Saturday and Sunday but now I feel like my hunger is back to normal. Was looking at the clock at work all morning waiting for lunch time. Just eaten it now and id say I've eaten a pre MJ portion which is unexpected. I've had a m&s salmon and potato salad (255cal) a cereal bar (128cal) and a tangerine. I thought I'd barely eat today but no.
Is this normal?

Justformounjaro · 24/03/2025 12:31

Well, I’ve had the weekend without DP being here and that’s normally a time when I start mooching round the cupboards as I’m usually procrastinating about something else that I really should be doing. However, I was surprisingly good.

I don’t have major suppression but I am not tempted (too much) by lots of biscuits and chocolate. Whilst I did have a KitKat Chunky on Saturday lunchtime, I kept to healthy meals otherwise.

Normally I don’t eat breakfast but by 11am this morning I was ravenous and started to feel quite nauseous. Previously, I would have put this down to having low blood sugar as I frequently have similar feelings when I can’t tell if I feel sick or just hungry - and eating food makes me feel normal again. I imagine this may have been the case today as well since I’d not eaten since 7pm last night.

I’ve ordered a 5mg pen. I’m not sure if I’m going to use a full dose to start with but at least I have the option to titrate up if I want to. I’ve also ordered everything I need for a golden dose which I’ll do on Saturday.

capybaraqueen · 24/03/2025 12:56

Hello everyone 👋

I did my golden dose yesterday and it was easy peasy! Wasn't sure about injecting into my stomach as the needle is slightly larger so did it into the fleshy fat part of my thigh, didn't feel a thing, had to check the needle was even in!

There's still some left in the pen, I would say .3 ml. I'll use that next week.

Still excellent suppression, tummy rumbling like mad but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING appeals to me.

Went through deliveroo in desperation trying to find something to tempt me. Nothing. Been having a banana and going to bed.

Sneaky weigh in today - jab tomorrow. Not lost a pound! have tracked as under but trying not to get too despondent as i'm drinking way lass alcohol, definitely eating less so upping water and walking. Clearly im not going to be a fast loser!!

TervenAcademicals · 24/03/2025 14:16

Hi all 🫡
Did 2.5 jab last night and woke up in the night with a really dry mouth but that's been it for side effects so far (long may it last).

Struggling with no appetite but have a load of Cambridge diet products left over from a failed attempt so going to use those as at least I know they've got vitamins and minerals in them and they are quite small to try and get on board.

Thanks for all of the good advice on here, so helpful!

Afternoon all, been catching up on the messages- the thread moves so fast! When I came on today it said 89 unread replies! I am reading through everything but by the time I read it the moment has passed to reply to people but just wanted to say well done for all the successes folks have been having, and also I’m very sorry for your loss @soupforbrains

I went for a full day out with the family (partner and kids) yesterday- train to another city. The kids had Costa hot chocolates and pastries on the train in the morning and before, I would’ve definitely joined them! Instead I had water and brought a protein yoghurt with me. We went for a meal- I enjoyed a nice halloumi burger (I’m veggie) and hash brown tater tots 🤤 I chose a Sprite Zero rather than a milkshake or cocktail. I didn’t get dessert. I felt satiated and didn’t need anything for the train on the way home. Before, on a day out like that I would’ve been eating all day- ice cream, bakery items, train snacks there and back. I would’ve felt my enjoyment of the day would’ve been tied up in what I ate while there. I would’ve then got home in the evening and after putting the kids to bed I would’ve thought “well since today’s already ruined I might as well have XYZ” chocolate bars, crisps, whatever I had in the house. To be honest I would’ve even found it hard to get back on track again today, the day after. Instead I enjoyed a day out with the family, enjoyed my meal, drank lots of water (kept having to find a loo!), got lots of steps in and felt good, and this morning the scales were actually 0.4lbs down from yesterday morning. I really hope this can heal my relationship with food for after I reach my goal weight and come off mounjaro.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 24/03/2025 14:44

@TryingMJ I drank a pint of water overnight after my first jab!

Overjiggly · 24/03/2025 14:56

Sorry for those feeling unwell.

I've had a wobble these past few days, just felt so sick and bloated and horrible that I wondered if I should continue. But I'll see what tomorrow brings hopefully it will ease.

My period decided to make am appearance 5 days early! So I think half of what I'm feeling is also due to that including my low mood.

@TryingMJ loved your post, I know exactly what you mean about a nice day out revolving around food and also then carrying it on the day after.

I've found I actually have more time in the days now the food noise, food eating, snack buying, multiple trips to the fridge has reduced.

SharpOpalNewt · 24/03/2025 14:57

Sorry I didn't post my stats earlier.

SW 13st 4lbs (1st March)
CW 12st 8lbs (today)
GW 11 stone - aiming for sometime in June🙏

This is pretty much where I am too. Im jabbing tomorrow evening (3rd Jab) Had a cheeky look on the scales this morning cos i felt excited after a good week and was only 1lb down but I think that's also partly because I didn't drink my usual cup of tea this morning so probably haven't lost anything at all this week.
Bit annoying as I've eaten the same as last week and then i lost 4lb :(
I'm probably just being a bit dramatic and need to listen to others peoples advice and look at weight loss over a month but its hard to not feel disappointed!

Twinsandsome · 24/03/2025 15:34

I’m on day 2, injected 9pm Saturday night. Today I have terrible stomach cramps and I can’t work out if this is a side effect or just poor timing? My sister has texted into the family WhatsApp that she has a v&d bug without the v. Mines is more really crampy and feeling rotten. Yesterday I had no effects and on Saturday night a sore neck and funny taste in mouth.

if anyone did have crampy stomach and feel rotten as a side effect did you just wait it out and it pass or did you take anything? Xx

Try not to loose hope on early weigh ins , I check daily and gain weight at the start of the week settle down mid week and loose all last 48 hours before jab.think a lot is water weight these early days as I lost 40% second week completed to first week. Took third jab yesterday and constant hunger but when trying to eat I can’t take more than a few spoons/bites. All fullness etc is gone , a very difeeent week. This is journey for the long run and many don’t loose until further up the doses (I love looking at the August thread as they done 7 months and you can see that this is not a straight line journey)
