Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Hello everyone. I have not posted for ages because I felt my story was a bit too depressing. I have had gastric side effects on both Wegovy and Mounjaro so have been taking fibre supplements and probiotics for months alongside 1 mg Wegovy and gradually gaining weight. I have made the switch to Mounjaro recently. I had a quick gap when my weight gain accelerated but now that I have started the Mounjaro I’d also reigned in my eating at the same time I have started to lose a bit of weight again, thank goodness. On the bright side I’ve not had any gastric side-effects for a long time but now I have to lose all that weight that I gained since last May which was when I stopped completely for a bit as I just wasn’t tolerating Wegovy at all.

I genuinely think that I can tolerate both the drugs really well until I weigh about 72 kg. And then I don’t seem to be able to tolerate either, even in quite low doses. I am back up above 80kg now. I’m not really sure what my long-term plan is. I don’t think I want to go above 7.5 mg on Mounjaro. Maybe I will plateau at about 73 kg if I’m lucky and be happy with a BMI of 28.5. I certainly can’t live with the side-effects when they’re at their worst.

Edited

Thank you for sharing your experiences on both WLI’s @BackToWegovy and I hope your onward journey on MJ helps you lose the gain and beyond 🩷 and that this time around your tolerance will ease around the 72kg marker 🤞 It’s a hard balance and I hope you find the doseage that works best for you soon. I had to step my dose back as the gastric se got too much, although the weight was coming off better at the higher dose so am creeping it back up a little to try and find the best compromise. I guess it might still be early days but are you finding things better or worse on MJ so far?

@PlodAlongPolly Thanks for the emphatic reply!I have nearly lost the 3kg I put on over Christmas. Short term target to get to 100kg, currently at 106kg.
What are everyone’s short term goals? I had lunch with a few very thin friends who don’t know I’m doing this & they were sharing success of others on the jabs & really disgusted that people need to use them. I’m glad I didn’t mention it. I did realise my choice of lunch from the menu was like a thin persons lunch!!

tryingtobesogood · 21/01/2026 07:27

My short term goal is to lose 7lb before I go away mid March, in 8 weeks. I will need to put some effort in to do that though and do that exercise I keep committing to and ignoring 😂🤦‍♀️

@PlodAlongPolly I am tempted to go up a little, maybe to 8mg from 7.5. I do feel like I need a little more to lose more consistently. I think I will try a little harder first, track my calories for a week or two and do some exercise every day. If that doesn’t work I will creep up.

BackToWegovy · 21/01/2026 11:35

Thanks @PlodAlongPolly, so far I am pleased with the MJ and also my sugar avoidance and have lost about 1.5kg which is great. Not sure whether to increase the dose on the next order while it’s working but I probably will as this just feels a very low dose. I had thought I might double up on week 4 with the extra dose but I think I will do 5 weeks at 2.5 instead. Assuming there is still an extra in the pen? I heard they were going to make a new design with less in it but it does seem exactly the same to me so far.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 22/01/2026 14:34

Anyone else suddenly feeling a lot hungrier? I was literally shaking with hunger last night on my commute home and woke up ravenous this morning. I’m already on the max dose.

I confess I didn’t read any more than the headline, but there was someone in the email who’d lost 8st. She used to eat 2 packets of Super Noodles in sandwiches! Ugh!

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 24/01/2026 10:18

Having stalled last week, I’ve dropped another pound this week and my bmi is now 29.9! I think the last time I was this weight was about 15 years ago, and I am also only a pound away from the next stone bracket, although I reckon at my pace that’ll take 2-3 weeks to achieve.

That’s amazing progress - well done to you. And that next stone down is tantalisingly close.

AlmostStoppedII · 25/01/2026 20:19

Glad to see you back @PlodAlongPolly ! 💛

I have no pearls of wisdom about how to get back on track in January I’m afraid. My result for the last 4 weeks is a gain of 1 lb. I have at least now kicked alcohol back out for the most part which is a start. Struggling to get motivated with anything - disappointing as last weekend was very productive with the decorating - thought it would put me on a productive roll…I know I need to start recording what I eat and drink in some form. I think this is contributing to my low motivational energy too.

Plan to write down my goals tomorrow and start reflecting on what I have done towards them, if anything, each evening. Anything would be a bonus!

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 26/01/2026 07:18

@AlmostStopped I hear you! So frustrating to put on so easily what it takes ages to get off. I put on 3lbs over Christmas and our long weekend away. I’m not feeling very friendly towards my scales at the moment - and we have a difficult relationship at the best of times!

PlodAlongPolly · 30/01/2026 10:06

Happy Friday fellow Plodders! Hope you’ve all had a good week, has been a long one here so looking forward to a slow start tomorrow morning (busy rest of the day but an unrushed morning at least!). Lots of eggs needing using up in the fridge so was thinking to do pancakes with some added fibre as fibre not been brilliant so going to add some milled flaxseed and leftover porridge to the batter, maybe a bit of avocado too if I can be bothered (my youngest will complain if they see any green ‘bits’ in the pancake 😅)

Suppression has been better this week since increasing dose back up after my break from MJ in Nov. Still haven’t weighed I think I will go by clothes feel for now and weigh when there is a noticeable loosening!

Hear you on the difficult scale relationship @0ncemorewithfee1ing and the struggle with motivation too @AlmostStoppedII I heard this is a reported effect in some (reduced motivation, feeling flat, fatigue, brain fog) which is definitely the side of the camp I’m in although others (the lucky ones!) can get the opposite effect. My total Dec/Jan gain crept up to 4lbs in the end. Interestingly in the middle of my MJ break when it was clearly wearing off with the return of appetite and gastric se calming down, I got a surge in energy, motivation and my brain fog got better, had better mental clarity and more oomph! but..I gained weight! 🤦‍♀️ Since climbing back up to near my previous dose it’s gone back to before but has helped my weight stabilise and start to lose again. Is hard, I really want and need to lose weight but do think in many ways MJ doesn’t agree with me and hits my energy, motivation and brain fog, sometimes pain (all pre existing problem areas). For now though I think this is the only way to manage sustained weight management and hopefully more loss, so will stick with it but long term if I can reach a healthy bmi I will take breaks from the drug during longer term maintenance.

Hope you all have a good weekend and well done for all losses achieved and bmi milestones being reached and keep on plodding on for those on the flat :) x

Yeah I did when I had a break from MJ in November and re started on a lower dose in December. After climbing back up the suppression has kicked back in nicely, especially in the last week. The downside is I gained from being in a break and lower dose period until getting back to this point. So can’t really recommend a temporary break from a weight loss perspective but it has definitely helped the suppression kick start now and at a lower dose than previously (am now on 10.5 mg and was on 13.5 before) I think my gain would have been less if it hadn’t landed over the Christmas period!

Well done on the sugar avoidance and 1.5kg loss and hope the dose is still hitting the mark. It’s a hard one to gauge re: increase, especially now the higher dose pens are so ££ expensive. For me in the end when I was on the cusp of needing a higher dose I opted for a higher dose pen and just counted clicks until I was ready to move up. It cost more but also the pen lasted longer, so maybe it balanced out a bit. I do go over the 30 days though when click counting and know not everyone is comfortable doing that.

Hey @Beachcomber74 well done with the loss post-Christmas and hope your short term target is going ok? Lol for the ‘thin persons lunch!’ 😂 it must have been hard to hear judgemental comments on something that has helped you and so many of us to lose weight though. I also have some very lovely thin friends and don’t divulge about being on wli but have told some supportive family and a close friend who has had a positive experience of wli.

I don’t have a particular short term goal weight loss wise as motivation is quite flat atm (I don’t think all the cold grotty weather has helped) but have plenty of house sorting related ones so am focusing on them for now! x

💛💛 I don’t know if this helps but is an area I’ve struggled with too on MJ. It’s weird I don’t crave sugar in the same way as pre-jabs, but it’s almost like other things have lost their appeal or become distasteful, so the sugar is just left behind by default when it feels like other things have been knocked out!

What do you find helps you? I’ve resolved to switching back to dark chocolate and just having a little bit rather than zombie buying petrol station chocolate because I’m tired!

Hey @tryingtobesogood that sounds like a great way to motivate for your short term goal! Are you heading off somewhere nice? The exercise is a head scratcher for me too as lacking the energy and motivation. It makes me smile when I see my DC running around going crazy playing tag and giggling with their friends - that’s a work out right there and is, you know, actually fun! Maybe thats what we need to do, get to the park and chase around playing tag with our friends and galloping for half an hour a day 😁

I guess the adult version of this is some kind of team sport lol! 🤭

Right off to do the shopping now and will be adding Greek yog, berries, cherry yoghurt, lean steak, maybe a roast chicken. Marmite, watercress and those thin seedy bagels or wholemeal, and the dark chocolate for tired slumps! God speed lovely Plodders and catch up again with you soon 🩷 x

OP posts:
0ncemorewithfee1ing · 02/02/2026 16:05

Sounds like a good shopping list @PlodAlongPolly And I personally love Marmite too.

I don’t find the tiny amount of dark chocolate thing does it for me. I’m convinced that people only have a square or two because it’s basically horrible! It’s a bug I tried to catch - alongside the running bug. I did it for a year and hated every minute - and it didn’t make any difference to losing weight so I stopped.

tryingtobesogood · 03/02/2026 18:29

Well, I accidentally took too high a dose this week. I am on 7.5 but did the 'golden dose' with a syringe and gave myself over 10 🙄 I have had some pretty good supression and the sulpher burps are back. I am thinking of dropping back to 8.75 next week as I had noticed I wasn't getting the full effect since christmas.

In the meantime, its like the first week again

Beachcomber74 · 03/02/2026 22:38

@tryingtobesogood Hope the 10 works well for you, am on 10 & sulphur burps first few days. I weighed in at 104.5kg in Sat which is still heavy but if I can just get sub 100 I will be so pleased!! Started Jan 2025 @ 126.4kg In March I was 117 so I am definitely in the plodders club and messed around too much over Summer & Christmas but feel motivated to keep on keeping on.
@PlodAlongPolly how’s the house organising going?

Thanks I wanted to get cooking a bit more, opted for diced chicken in the end rather than whole which was easier to bung in a stew and use up some sad looking veg! Yeah marmite is great, do you have a preferred bread to go with it? (I’ve struggled to settle on a bread since being on wli)

Yeah I found the same with dark chocolate and have been on/off with it for years. I found the ones with fruit flavour like orange or raspberry nicest. I tried Montezuma’s black forrest dark this time which was nice. You’re right though dark definitely hit differently to milk!

Oh no trying! It’s so easily done, I hope the burps have settled down for you and you get a loss from the suppression kick 🩷 let us know how you get on with your next dose and hope you get to keep the first week vibes a while (but not the SE!)

I don’t eat a lot of bread (and I use Marmite for stirring into soup for example) but if I do, I like the seedy stuff - Jackson’s usually.

Although one of life’s great mysteries is why bread and toasters seem to only be made by people who have never seen the other product. It’s the only explanation for why bread almost never fits in a toaster.

You’re so close to the sub 100 @Beachcomber74, keep going! I think 22kg is a great loss in a year 💖 :) I hope to be around a similar loss before long (currently 20.5 kg total), looking at the online kg calculator that is only 3.3 lbs, which sounds doable!

Thanks re: the house sorting I made a good start with a dump run, charity shop drop and sorting through some boxes. Have put together a big baby bundle and going to offer to friends first then anything left to a local families charity.
DC got sick which put a halt to things a while but clothes are next and need to be brutal with a purge!
