Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Hello plodalong, sorry you have a cold. I’ve been dragging myself around as well this week, I’m hoping this means I’ll be better for next week. I’ve wrappped nothing and still need to buy presents. Even though I promised that I wasn’t going to leave it to the last minute again this year.

I am happy staying the same, as I’m eating out a lot at the moment and that’s not going to get much better for the next 2 weeks. Plus I’m just so tired and it feels an effort to think about what to eat. Again, hoping that gets better while I’m on holiday for the next two weeks.

@PlodAlongPolly be kind to yourself, it’s a busy time of the year to be down with a cold.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 21/12/2025 14:32

A nasty cold is definitely doing the rounds. Hope everyone feels well - and not overwhelmed - by Christmas. I’m into the swing of regular chocolate log slices which is obviously not good for weight loss - but I’m not going worry until after New Year.

PlodAlongPolly · 22/12/2025 11:53

Thanks @tryingtobesogood and sorry you’ve been under weather too, I hope you’re feeling better now and able to do your shopping and wrapping? We’re coming out of it now, has been nearly a month of back to back for me and the kids so relieved tb over the worst. Same here am so behind with wrapping and last min shopping(!) but just trying to chip away as best possible! Staying the same over Christmas isnt bad is it (or just a small gain even) have never managed it pre WLI .

Enjoy your choc log @0ncemorewithfee1ing! I’m addicted to M&S chocolate coins at the moment (bought for the kids, whoops! 😅) x

Morning everyone - hope you all enjoyed a lovely Christmas!

I went out on Christmas eve for 1-2 quiet drinks with friends and ended up getting stuck in on an empty stomach. Christmas morning was full hangover and a cold. I had also done no pre-prep for the dinner so had to force myself through cooking the dinner including making sticky toffee pudding from scratch. I had absolutely zero interest in eating any of it. That is not unusual for me but this year was particularly marked. Next year there will be changes! Yesterday I ate very little again and just chilled with the Christmas jigsaw. Thankfully, think I am over the worst of the cold already so starting to get interested in 2026 plans!

Due to barely eating anything the last three days my weight dropped by 3 lbs this week (so I've dipped into a sub BMI 30 weight again after two weeks out of it, it does not feel secure yet though). Today is also the end of my fourth 20 week block so graph time!

I asked chat gpt to predict the next four blocks...
Block 5 (Mid May 2026) - lose 6 to 7 kg - strong continued loss BMI estimate 27-27.5
Block 6 (October 2026)- lose 4 to 5 kg - approach phase BMI estimate 25-26
Block 7 (Mid Feb 2027)- lose 1.5 - 3 kg - set-point emergence BMI estimate 23.5-25
Block 8 (July 2027)- maintanence band

We'll see! This year is mainly going to be about my weight loss adjacent goals. So thinking about those...

Morning everyone and hope you had good Christmasses!

Sorry you were full of cold @AlmostStopped and hope you’re feeling better now? We had it fairly non-stop too (between me, DH and the kids). Flu at the end of Nov followed by a round of colds and my eldest had painful ear ache the few days before Christmas. Thankfully by the day it had eased off so she wasn’t in pain, just blowing their noses all day 😅 I had a delightful post Christmas present too on the 27th - the arrival of a 3rd Christmas cold, yay! Starting to re-surface from that now.

I delayed my jab again and enjoyed Christmas dinner and festive food before and after, the upshot being a 2.5 lb gain but will take that as we’ve had a rough 6 weeks and was nice being able to enjoy eating with the family. Due to jab tonight and thankfully most treats gone now so resolving not to replenish!

Great progress @AlmostStopped with the 3 lbs off and seeing the sub 30! 🌟 The chart is an encouraging visual too :)

Merry Ploddmas everyone and look forward to seeing how we all get on in 2026!

Well done everyone who's been battling colds and illness for the last few weeks and STILL kept Christmas going for loved ones!👊

I stepped on the scales this morning expecting a bit of a disaster. And that I had! 😅 4lbs on in the last 10 days, mainly down to mainlining cheese and chocolate, and not doing enough walking. I sorta expect some of it to be water retention after all the carbs I've had and I'm hoping most of it comes back off once I'm being more mindful again. But truthfully it does grate a bit that, as a plodder, I eek out 1lb a month loss and then put on 4lbs in a week 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, onwards and downwards for everyone in 2026!

tryingtobesogood · 31/12/2025 10:52

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone is having a good break.

I made the decision to drop my dose by half for christmas, as my supression was high, but despite this I have still found it hard to eat much. However I do seem to be able to eat a lot of cheese!! I have stayed the same so far, happy with that and today will be the last day of indulgence, before I go back up to my full dose at the weekend, and get back to eating well and exercising more.

I've enjoyed my christmas being 2.5st lighter, being able to wear my nice clothes and feel that even if I have indulged its ok, its only for the holidays and i can soon get back to it in the next few days. 2026 feels hopeful, I am going to focus on exercise to tone up and get stronger and fitter, with weight loss making this easier. I fully accept that it will probably take until the end of next year to reach my target, but that is ok. every lb lost is a bonus.

@PlodAlongPolly I had a clear out of bras and bought some in the next size down, I'm now wondering what to do with the ones i no longer need. I'm going to look for a charity to donate the nicer ones to. I am sure there must be one. It seems a shame to just throw them away when many are in good condition, and they are expensive.

Deadringer · 01/01/2026 11:37

Hi all, i haven't lost anything for a few weeks so decided to go up to 10mg but I really haven't noticed a huge difference. I am not exactly hungry but well able to eat iykwim, looking forward to all the Xmas crap being gone from the house. I got a smart scales from the dc so hoping that will help me keep track of things better. Happy new year all.

AlmostStoppedII · 01/01/2026 13:28

💛💚💫Happy New Year 💫💚💛

Hope your 3rd cold of the season has left already @PlodAlongPolly and those annoying 4 lbs come off as quickly as they appeared @GeraniumRoseblush !

I only stayed on 10 mg for one pen @Deadringer , which suprised me given I didn't manage/need to get up to 5 mg until I was 6 months in. What surprised me even more was just how well 15 mg is working, even after six months on it. The smart scales sound motivating!

What is your plan for the exercise @tryingtobesogood ? What I absolutely love about MJ is the fact that I can look at goals I may reach a year away and it doesn't feel daunting or a long time - it just feels like it is going to happen at some point. I'm starting off with Pilates - recognised I need help to get going so will be booking a few 1-2-1 sessions to kick start that, and then hopefully I will be able to find a good class again.

AlmostStoppedII · 03/01/2026 08:46

2.2 lbs up today and back to obesity (30.0 kg/m2) 😁! Almost daily alcohol this week, not loads…I don’t regret it but time to stop that now.
On a more positive note I’ve started working through the house deep cleaning, decluttering and reorganising - which I em enjoying now I’ve finally managed to get started! Got a hobby group new year party tonight - I am driving so that will put a stop to my drinking.

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 03/01/2026 16:51

I’ve put on 5lb over the Christmas period, which I am just going to roll with. Hopefully I’ll be back to where I was by the end of Jan 🤞🏻

Beachcomber74 · 04/01/2026 17:24

Hello fellow plodders!! Think I’ve found my people.
I’m really cross with myself as plodder it’s taken me bloody ages to lose the weight & I put 3kg on over Christmas.
I jabbed on Christmas Eve then 10 days later yesterday so have had first day back in the saddle today. However it feels less daunting than a usual post Christmas re focus.

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 10/01/2026 10:25

Morning all! I am back to my pre-Christmas weight today, which I was really surprised but really happy about. I think being back to work and my normal routine this week really helped, despite the shock to the system!

tryingtobesogood · 10/01/2026 10:36

@AlmostStopped my plan was to start couch to 5k on my treadmill, but it stopped working!! I'm not sure what to do now, as I broke my ankle a couple of years ago and lost confidence with running outside. (I didn't do it running, just walking down the street and missed the kerb dropping).

I am starting pilates this weekend, I got a new mat for christmas, and a subscription to peloton. Accountability check - I will do a class this afternoon, and come back here and say I have done it!

Well done everyone who's managed to get back to pre-christmas weight, I jumped on the scales this morning and I have lost my christmas gain. I am excited that I am starting this year 2.5 st lower, and like you say almoststopped, I can see that I will be lighter even still by the end of the year. Its a good feeling.

AlmostStoppedII · 10/01/2026 13:48

Well done on losing the Christmas weight so quickly @AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo !

How are you getting on @Beachcomber74 ?

Sorry the treadmill is playing up @tryingtobesogood - how annoying. The broken ankle sounds horrible, no wonder you don't want to run outside (even if that isn't what caused it). Hope you enjoy the Pilates this afternoon .

I've lost half of the weight that went on last week and just dipped below BMI 30 again (third time lucky?) .Conscious that I am not hungry for a proper meal so have the 'odd biscuit' a little too often instead now. Will stop buying them. I need a healthy grazing box in the fridge or something...so that is my next challenge.

GeraniumRoseblush · 12/01/2026 11:47

@tryingtobesogood @AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo congrats on losing your Christmas gain, must feel good!
@AlmostStopped I'm like you and have lost half of it so far. We carry on.
Have to confess I've found it harder than expected to stop eating cheese and bread 🤣 anyway, think I'm now there🤞
I'm considering whether to up my dose for a few weeks to try to kickstart a bit more of a loss. Has anyone upped a dose temporarily to push things on a bit? I'm on a low dose so definitely have leeway. What think ye, plodders?

AlmostStoppedII · 17/01/2026 07:48

Oh dear - back to obesity for me - guess it wasn't third time lucky with getting to overweight and not bobbing back up again...

My mantra/resolution for 2026 is 'reset and routine' and I definitely need one here sooner rather than later. Alcohol crept in over Christmas and didn't leave. So did biscuits but I have already stamped those out. Alcohol needs to go again. I can start that today without any thought. Then I definitely need to start prepping healthy snacks/small meals so when I am actually hungry I eat proper food. I was the same weight I am today first time on 22 Nov so that is quite sobering.

Today I am decorating, my legs ache a bit just from the prep I did yesterday. I am so unfit! Still, I am pleased I have managed to motivate myself to do this and we usually use a decorator but don't want to wait until he is available (also should be an easy job). I think it is good that this is highlighting how out of shape I am.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 17/01/2026 19:11

Happy new year fellow plodders.

I hope everyone had a good one and are avoiding the January blues.

I went away after Christmas to Porto for my fiancé’s birthday. I drank an alarming amount of port for someone who doesn’t like it. I did like the pastels de nata however.

Now I really have to get my head down. I’m getting married at the end of April and have my first wedding dress fitting at the end of this month. I know my tortoise like speed at weight loss isn’t going to result in me being slim (I only lost 2st in the whole of last year), anything is going to help and I might make another half stone.

I definitely need to drink more (any!) water for a start.

tryingtobesogood · 19/01/2026 11:19

Morning everyone, I’m beginning to think that we shouldn’t be called the plodders Club but the bobbers club. I keep bouncing up and down the same 2lb, today I was down and I’m hoping that the scales stick there.

I’ve been doing more exercise, nothing major just trying to get a walk in most days. I still haven’t managed to start Pilates, but I’m going to try and do that tomorrow.

I think I need to give myself a bit of a push and be more focused, so that I can set a bit of a time limit for taking the injections. I’d like to stop in about six months, that is when the pens in the fridge run out. I don’t think I want to spend any more money. I don’t find mounjaro particularly pleasant to be on, I do get quite a lot of gastrointestinal side-effects.

Of course it could just be January blues that are talking, but I went out for lunch yesterday ate small portions but did have some cake and a couple of glasses of wine. And then paid for it with an upset stomach and insomnia all night. I don’t want to live like this in the long-term, but probably could manage for a few more months. So I really do need to make these next months count and get myself down a couple of Stone if I can.

I hope everyone is getting on alright, I believe that today is blue Monday. Hang in there, lighter brighter days are on their way.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 19/01/2026 13:16

The gastric stuff sounds really rotten @tryingtobesogood - I’m not surprised you feel a bit down about it. Hopefully you can bob/plod your way to where you want to be within the next 6 months - have you got far to go? I’m someone who likes a Plan B so I guess you could think about Wegovy if you’re not where you want to be by then - you might not get the same bad side effects. I’m slightly wondering about Wegovy as some people who are slow losers on MJ have better results on Wegovy.

BackToWegovy · 19/01/2026 14:10

Hello everyone. I have not posted for ages because I felt my story was a bit too depressing. I have had gastric side effects on both Wegovy and Mounjaro so have been taking fibre supplements and probiotics for months alongside 1 mg Wegovy and gradually gaining weight. I have made the switch to Mounjaro recently. I had a quick gap when my weight gain accelerated but now that I have started the Mounjaro I’d also reigned in my eating at the same time I have started to lose a bit of weight again, thank goodness. On the bright side I’ve not had any gastric side-effects for a long time but now I have to lose all that weight that I gained since last May which was when I stopped completely for a bit as I just wasn’t tolerating Wegovy at all.

I genuinely think that I can tolerate both the drugs really well until I weigh about 72 kg. And then I don’t seem to be able to tolerate either, even in quite low doses. I am back up above 80kg now. I’m not really sure what my long-term plan is. I don’t think I want to go above 7.5 mg on Mounjaro. Maybe I will plateau at about 73 kg if I’m lucky and be happy with a BMI of 28.5. I certainly can’t live with the side-effects when they’re at their worst.

PlodAlongPolly · 20/01/2026 19:28

Hello lovely plodders 🌸 I’ve been awol a while again trying to get back in the swing of post Christmas routine. Just read everyone’s updates and I honestly could mirror lots from what people have shared. It’s not easy is it, there are so many of us in this camp where losses are hard won and we have to deal with se’s alongside a crawling pace. Haha yes we could just as easily be bobbers club couldn’t we?! I am also getting gastric se’s, not everyday but now and then, was late picking the kids up yesterday as was stuck on the toilet! I blame myself for succumbing to brie, must just be too much for my system on MJ! Haven’t weighed for a couple of weeks now as don’t think there is much in the way of good news there based on clothing fit, but probably need to book one in with myself for a reality check as it’s all drifting a bit. Anyone else eating too much chocolate or is it just me? 👀 Jan has been so full on, need to re-kindle some motivation and focus!

Would love to hear ideas if anyone has successfully managed to get geared up in these long cold January days and boost their motivation!

I thought after reading your update @0ncemorewithfee1ing that I might pretend I’m going to be a guest at your wedding, to try and whip up some enthusiasm to get losing 😂

Hi @Beachcomber74 and sorry for missing your message a couple of weeks ago. Welcome to our friendly group of slowbies! 💛 How’s it going? Looks like lots of us were in the same boat with Christmas gains but hopefully we can chip away and keep plodding onwards. I know what you mean about the frustration with how quickly it goes on though, when it is slow to come off!
(I sometimes wonder if my body doesn’t realise what century it’s in, and remains set to ‘18th century famine risk’ mode 😅)
