Plodders Club 🐌

Hi,

Anyone on WLI and in the slow lane v. welcome here for a bit of plodding supportive chat!

Plodders, bobbers, plateau-ers, stallers and stuck ducks come on in! Would be great to chat with others who are in the same boat, ie travelling at the speed of snails on their WL journey.

I have a mountain to move (nearly 5 st), am not ready to give up on Mounjaro yet and would love a bit of company here on this long haul to reach a healthy BMI. 🦥 🐌 🏔️

Come join me if you have a long way to go (either due to slow losses or amount to lose) and would like some peer support to keep going when the scales are being stubborn. It’s hard being on WLI when it’s not working as well for you and progress is slow or stalled. This is a safe space to share anything, the good, the bad and the side effecty. Anything positive (scale or non scale related) as well as freedom to vent and grumble as much as you want

If you taking WLI and trucking along nicely or nearly at your goal weight that is fantastic but please post on a different thread.

Thanks @GeraniumRoseblush !
@AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo - glad you’re tolerating 5 mg so well and seeing some results. @PlodAlongPolly and me have exactly the same sub 30 BMI by Christmas/NY goal!

Hi @Elliebearblues ! Those losses add up, I’ve done 75 weeks now (and it really doesn’t feel that long since I started) and lost 4.5 st - most of that very slowly, slower than you are losing. It helps avoiding the threads with the fast losers!

I shared my weight loss data/graph with chatGPT. Along with my weight history (which is basically spending my entire adult life either losing or gaining to ever increasing weights and basically no maintenance of any weight) and age. These were the key takeaways…

  • Weeks 0–20: Rapid early loss (very typical with GLP-1/GIP meds + early behavioural changes). [1.55 lb/wk average]
  • Weeks 20–40 & 40–60: A clear plateauing phase — slower, more variable loss. This happens to almost everyone after months 6–12. [0.45 lb/wk average]
  • Weeks 60–75: A noticeable re-acceleration in loss. [0.98 lb/wk average]
  • This is right after reaching 15 mg, and you’re losing more in this block than in blocks 2 and 3.

extremely typical of

  • Women in their 50s
  • People who titrated slowly
  • People who switched to 12.5 mg or 15 mg later in the journey
  • People who started with higher BMI and had a long glide-slope downward

Most likely stable zone with MJ is BMI 23.5 to 25.5
I will most likely need 15 mg to maintain, for the first 1-2 years at least
Can experiment with dose reductions later but need a minimum of 6 months stable maintenance before attempting
My body will naturally stop losing when it is in the body’s comfort zone - hunger will increase slightly, so just let it find it.

Thanks for this, I know they say slow is better but it does get disheartening when everyone else seems to lose faster. To be honest I’m landed I’m at nearly a stone and yes it’s taken a while but it’s a loss. I’m curious about how everyone needs different doses to work, quite a few I was talking too had good suppression on 2.5mg whereas I only had it the first week and couldn’t wait to move up to 5mg to actually feel some suppression. I’m glad the suppression has been good on 5mg for theses 4 weeks. Not so much I don’t want to eat which I think is good xx

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 25/11/2025 10:50

Thanks for all that info @AlmostStoppedII - and congratulations on your huge achievement so far. I’m absolutely in awe. And you’ve done this patiently and steadily without having a tantrum at the slower rate of loss. Or is that just me!

If you’re T2 diabetic, it’s known that it’s slow losses - if at all. Amazing for your blood sugar levels though

Grecianrainbow · 25/11/2025 16:25

Did a bit of shopping this morning for Xmas, and tried on some clothes in the process for me. Down a size all over but bottom half still bigger than top which is annoying. Weird disconnect between looking down at myself in person and seeing my reflection- I can see the loss in the mirror but struggle when just looking at me. It’s taken 11 months but I’ve lost 3.5 stone! I think this might be almost at 3 dress sizes which doesn’t feel quite enough but hoping that will catch up soon.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 25/11/2025 20:33

Good news on the pound @tryingtobesogood , and having a maintaining spell sounds like a good focus over Christmas/new year - I did the same last year and no regrets.

The field doctor meals are nice and definitely more healthy than normal ready meals - I'm only having one every week or so at the moment, it is nice to have them there to help me eat better. Which remains an issue.

I left Mumsnet (lost count of the number of times I've done that now!) in a moment of 'I must stop wasting my time' and as soon as I did it remembered this thread! Thankfully the break has meant I've lost interest in the rest of the threads so fingers crossed - I think don't look is the answer!

I've had quick a good run of it weight loss wise these last four weeks (1.5. 1.3, 1.2, 1.9 lbs) which has been very welcome and very surprising - I haven't lost that consistently for a very long time. I'm now 1 lb away from NOT being obese (I have lost 4 st 8 lbs so far) so I should be able to meet that target by Christmas/the new year...should. I am bracing myself for a stall due to the good run of it though. Either way I am full of hope for 2026 - the main thing I am thinking is this will be the first year in a very very long time (ever?) that I will not yo yo. I will either STS or go down more, if I stay on MJ (and no intention of coming off unless there is a real medical reason). That in itself is exciting. Having a BMI of 30 feels 'normal' after being as high as 41. I love it.

That’s great going @AlmostStoppedII and exciting to be on the cusp of overweight BMI! Feeling normal and loving it is a huge win 🙌 I haven’t lost the last month but on a similar threshold of crossing obese to overweight. I’m glad we can celebrate our wins here!

Lovely to know our group drew you back! :) I know what you mean about being on and off with MN, I looking at threads you can get drawn in and lots of them are so sad / stressful I feel the need to step away for a while sometimes.

Agree with Oncemore, that is amazing @Grecianrainbow! 🌟 Did you pick up anything for you?

I managed to make time to get something for me yesterday when running family errands and shopping in town - a new bra! Have really needed one for months but just not had time to get one but was in M&S for other things and grabbed the chance. I was shocked at how much my bust has changed in the last 8 months or so! Even with really slow losses and the feel of having a bra that actually FITS and supports my chest and back is wonderful. I was so happy I picked up 3 :) two that fit great now and one in the next width down. If anyone else is like me I would recommend checking your bra fit if you haven’t in a while x

Thanks @PlodAlongPolly ! I’m a bit further away now as 1.2 lb up this week 😐 oh well!

Great news about all those dress sizes @Grecianrainbow ! ⭐️

Wish I could say I had made progress in other areas…but alas

PlodAlongPolly · 02/12/2025 19:16

Could it be hormonal fluctuation @AlmostStoppedII ? I had an annoying 2 lb gain with my period last week, thankfully it dropped back down after. In any case bobbing is frustrating and I hope it drops bk down again for you soon. Your overall progress is still amazing - over 4 and a half stone, well done! We will get there, week by week, month by month, plod by plod 🩷

Funny enough @PlodAlongPolly also a new bra 😁 and some gym leggings which my DH will give me for Christmas. Safest way to shop and get something I don’t need to exchange.

How are you getting on @Elliebearblues ?

I’m doing good thanks weight loss still slow. I managed 0.8lbs loss last week, up to a stone now. Scales don’t look promising for this week though as their slighly higher than last week (official wi is fri) I’m debating whether to up my dose slightly I’m currently on 5mg been on that for 5 weeks, not sure to unofficially move to 6.25mg as I don’t want the suppression to high over Christmas.. the suppression is there but I’ve never had the I can’t eat at all feeling like some others have.

I do have some NCV though, I got into a pair of 16 jeans that were to tight before and also a size 14 top I didn’t even realise was a 14,:it’s a Christmas top that I got out of storage and put it on, it is more fitted than I’d normally wear as most of my tops are baggy and I thought did my top shrink in the wash then I checked the tag and was landed it fits 😊

tryingtobesogood · 03/12/2025 13:10

I have lost 35lb in 39 weeks. It's amazing to think that week in week out, I have lost a little bit here and there and it has added up - 2st 7lbs/16KGs. My BMI has gone down 6 points.

I would have given anything to have lost that weight a year ago, and here I am one year on and I have. I know on the other threads there are people who lost that in half the time, but that was not going to be me. My body doesn't want to give it up quickly, but it is giving it up. I still have a long way to go, but I am heading in the right direction for the first time in such a very long time. In the first time in so many years.

I am excited about next year, and the next 35lb. I am 60 next year and hope to be near my target weight for my birthday. Its an exciting thought, at last I can see that I will be slim.

@Elliebearblues I love a NSV, there is something so wonderful about putting on something that you couldn't fit into and now looks good. @AlmostStopped those ups and downs are so frustrating aren't they.

@PlodAlongPolly I have a draw full of bras that I grew out of and am now shrinking back into, its great isn't it. It's the fact that I can do them up on the tightest setting that surprises me. My clothes look better with a better fitting bra.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 04/12/2025 14:36

Can I just have a little whinge please? I've been with MedExpress since I started in October 2024. This month, they have decided to start being arsey with me. I started out at 16 stone plus and a BMI of 39.2. I am now 12 stone 2 after plodding along for 14 months and my BMI is 28.2 they keep saying I need to send photos. I keep sending photos. They say no sunglasses. I say there aren't any sunglasses. They say no filters. I say there aren't any filters. They say they have to be recent photos and I tell them they were taken 10 minutes ago how much more recent do they want. It's starting to get to the point where I'm being arsey back to them and I hate them for not believing me, or telling me why all of a sudden there is an issue. I'm clearly still overweight, but I just feel like I'm being gaslighted. They keep seeing emails saying no longer fits their prescribing criteria. I do, but it seems pointless arguing further with what seems like a bot.

I'm now on the lookout for a new provider I think.

I had this - absolutely ridiculous. I needed to move up a dose and have gone to bolt - mainly because the price was good. It’s been a revelation, pics, driving license, a face scan and done. This was Sunday - delivered today nice and cold. What a win!! ( Do have a £40 discount code if you want to pm me) I. Fed up with price rises and bad service given I think I’ve got at least another year of plodding to go!

Thanks. At least I know it's not just me. I've sent them a snotty email with a cardboard sign saying 'photos taken today, 4 Dec 2025, still fat!'

Could you PM me your discount code please as I'm fed up now of being made to feel rubbish after plodding along and staying loyal to them for 14 months. Ta x

AlmostStoppedII · 06/12/2025 07:47

I'm not obese! 😯Today at least, but hopefully will consistently and definitely not be by NY.

I needed to drop to 80.15 kg to do that and I WI at 79.90 kg today. Helped a lot my a dental issue yesterday (crown fell out and cemented back in, but temporarily as it has failed - after spending £1K+ on root canal work + crown from endodontist only 2 years ago...will be extraction now. At back so not going to bother with implant. This is the less good news.) that meant I was very careful with what I ate and stayed clear of alcohol as takes 24 hrs to set properly. As I was 81 kg two days ago that was not expected.

Anyway, I am now 12 st 8 lbs (at 5'4.5'') and have a BMI of 29.9 (down from 17 st 3.6 lbs BMI 41.0). It has taken me 77 weeks and I have lost 29.7 kg/65.5 lbs/4 st 9.5 lbs/27.1% of my SW.

I've gone from a very large size 20 (I must've been a size 22 but didn't actually own clothes in that size) down to a size 16.

YAY! 😁

Sorry your supplier is being so ridiculous @RainbowZebraWarrior . Sounds like the right move to change - hope it goes smoothly with Bolt!

Ah some lovely wins there @Elliebearblues! Bonus with the Christmas top too as that will come in v handy✨ I needed something for a school thing and had a dig about and also managed to find and fit in an old Christmas jumper, same as you that felt like a nice win! (And change from previous years with the dismay of finding something but it being way too tight and unwearable!)

Upping dose is sometimes an easier decision than other times, like I’ve found it easiest to move up when I’m beyond the month long timescale being on a dose and suppression made an obvious drop down and feeling hungry etc. Might be time to move up if you’re hungry and getting food noise, you can always move back down if you find it too much x

I loved reading this @tryingtobesogood actually made me feel quite emotional! 🥹 that is a great achievement and in the grand scheme of things I think 1 year is still a relatively short period of time for a big change to our bodies like this. I am excited for you with your milestone year next year, keep us posted! 😃

I hope we can keep this club going and see where we all are in another year!

That’s annoying @RainbowZebraWarrior 🫤 what a pain. I did have one provider who needed a lot of photo and video proofs (stepping on scales, video of standing front on then turning to the side etc) which seemed OTT. Are you sorted now or switching?

Thank you @PlodAlongPolly ! 💙

I did a sneak peek today…wish I hadn’t. Obese again! 😂 At least I predicted it. Fingers crossed I will be overnight on Jan 1st though.

How are you getting on?

PlodAlongPolly · 12/12/2025 13:45

So I’ve done a little bob and basically maintained this month. I have also dipped into overweight bmi which is encouraging! Am thinking that even if I don’t make it to healthy bmi range, moving out of obesity is a huge step and hope to be able to maintain it 🌸

I decided to not jab this week as I’ve been poorly. MJ is so beneficial and I do plan to keep going with as long as financially possible, but one of the SE for me is that it knocks on to fatigue and I couldn’t face it ontop of illness so have skipped a week and will next jab on Monday or Tuesday. There has been more hunger the last few days which is good in some ways as have actually wanted and had some healthy meals. Need to keep a check on snack items though as a few have sneaked in!
