@Supercompetitivesibling welcome! That's a great weight loss

Sorry I haven't reported back for awhile, doing ok. Slow and steady weight loss

SW 86.7 kgs BMI 29
CW 79.7 kgs BMI 26.7
GW 68 kgs

Am on 5 mg for the last 2 weeks and suppression much higher. Feeling slightly more nauseous too and I've noticed - as many others - I can't really have wine and desserts comfortably. Not that I'm reaching out for them. But whenever I've had something like that or eaten late at night I get queasy in my stomach. Eg right now

To cheer myself up and enjoy the journey I've done a declutter of my wardrobe. Put away in a large bag a collection of clothes which I'll recheck in 6 months and if it's a no then, they will go to charity shop. I'm now comfortably fitting in my smaller size 12 clothes, the more fitted ones, so that's nice. Instead of buying new clothes - which I'm holding out for - I bought myself a new perfume after spending a blissful hour at a diptyque store!

Checking in… went up to 7.5mg on Friday and felt dreadful yesterday, awful reflux, tiredness and burps.
today tried gaviscon double action chews and seems to be a game changer. At least I feel way more human (was already considering going back to 5.
not been eating as clean as was so stalled a bit but down from 21st to 18st 10.
any other tips for reducing side effects welcome please! Also anyone tried injecting in leg not stomach? Does it help at all?
thanks!

Sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish. Hope it doesn't last.
I've tried injecting both in stomach and thigh but didn't make a difference, similar effect on both

I've noticed I get some nausea (my only side effect) a couple of days after jabbing on Fridays. Thus on Sunday. Anyone else noticing this delayed effect ?

cloudjumper · 09/03/2025 16:14

@Fruitbatdancer I have only ever injected into my stomach, so can't comment on whether changing injection sites might help.
Are you drinking lots of water? I find that when I don't get at least 2 L a day, side effects get worse. But again, I've been really lucky with those until now. I'll be going up to 7.5 mg on Tuesday, hoping that it'll stay that way...

stilllovingmysleep · 09/03/2025 16:17

@cloudjumper good reminder about the water. I will now go have some more as I've been in bed with nausea this afternoon and can't face food.Envy

The reason is that I had coffee and cake this morning as a treat for breakfast and no food since then so it's clearly hit my stomach. I think it's the blood sugar spike and crash

stilllovingmysleep · 09/03/2025 16:21

By the way while in bed with some nausea I was just now browsing the "I'm jealous..." thread. Really vile.

My impression has been for ages that attack on obese / overweight people is one of the most tolerated hatreds in society.

Not a taboo. It's a combination of patronising - "eat less and exercise"!!! - and downright vile - "it's pure greed and lack of discipline".

My sense is that people having a good tool to lose their weight more easily destabilises certain people's sense of superiority. Really sad to have that attitude.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 09/03/2025 16:22

My two attacks of side effects have both been two days after jabbing. One was third week of 2.5 and the other was second week of 5.

Went to gym this morning and sauna later. Feeling reasonably good about myself, but there was this friendly woman there and we chatted for a while. She was proper slim. And not skinny slim but gorgeous fit slim. First made me feel a bit shit, but then I wondered if I could now, this time, maybe get somewhere like that as well?
I mean I am still big boned and all, and old, but I'm willing to put the work in and lift those weights. So maybe?

@HeavyHeidi that's a lovely goal to have, to be strong and fit and feel good in your body. I always think the sky's the limit when it comes to dreams and goals.

On that note, I wanted to see if anyone here on this thread is almost completely unfit (like I am). If so might you want to help each other with realistic steps of exercise for beginners & slowly build it up?

MananaMananaPenelope · 09/03/2025 17:19

I’m very unfit @stilllovingmysleep , I used to be very fit. I’m finding trying to do things that suit my body right now difficult and demoralising.

I’m using my treadmill three times a week, just a brisk 30 min hike on ifit, walking three miles min three other days a week if I don’t have to drive for work. As of today I’m planning on one or two gentle reformer Pilates classes a week (if I can stomach the attitude of my thin comrades 😑🤣).

Have you got anything you really fancy doing or have enjoyed before?

MJalltheway · 09/03/2025 17:28

Urgh made the mistake of having a very sugary chai latte after not really having any sugar at all for weeks now and having terrible stomach pains and sulphur burps! Hope it subsides soon, I'm supposed to be going out tonight.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 09/03/2025 17:35

I am terribly unfit and have never really done any exercise. I am starting small by aiming to increase my steps to 10k a day, going on nice walks in local parks. It helps that the weather has been so nice! This morning I walked to a park that is further out from where I live, it took me 50 minutes to walk there, I would never have managed that before! I was so pleased I did it. After a good sit down on a bench when I arrived I then walked around the swimming lake, market and gardens, bringing my steps to just over 10k.

YourMerryLemonWasp · 09/03/2025 17:36

DareDevil223 · 09/03/2025 07:12

I know it's 7am but I have to tell someone! I just got on the scales and my BMI is 24.9. I'm not overweight anymore! By the slightest of margins I know but I couldn't tell you the last time that was the case.

I almost can't believe it. When I started on Ozempic 2.5 years ago my BMI was 44.3 and I was just over 20 stone. I'm going to carry on losing as I'd like to get to a BMI of 22/23 but I'm overjoyed.

It's still been hard work and effort, being in a constant deficit can be tiring and I've worked so hard in the gym to maximise muscle and minimise loose skin but to not have had the anxiety, the food noise, the constant urge to eat has been incredible and made it possible. But it's not the easy way out despite what some of the idiots on MN say.

I genuinely believe WLI have saved my life and sanity. I hope you all get to your goals too.

Well done ❤️

Pandora71 · 09/03/2025 17:41

@HeavyHeidi don’t compare! Honestly, it is the key to happiness!

For fitness, I’d highly recommend c25k. Once you can walk 1hr at a brisk pace then you’d be ready to start. Something hugely empowering about running, even that first 60s feels like a huge achievement and a dawn of a better lifestyle.

Thelittlestranger · 09/03/2025 18:02

Anyone else think the reactions don't match the emoticon? I want to congratulate people with the applause button - but it's the thanks button. Etc. Anyway, if you get a reaction from me - look at the pic 😂

Someone upthread asked about stomach pains after psyllium husk and it made me think. I was in so much pain with trapped wind on Friday - I thought I was coming down with pancreatitis because of the injections. But - I was dehydrated due to fizz the night before and had taken them that day with very little water. My water intake had started to drop dramatically.

I took them again this morning - started to feel the pain and read your message and connected the dots. Looked it up and apparently they can cause pain from gas if you're not drinking enough. I downed a glass of water, did a load of burps - felt better. Might be worth trying/remembering....

MJalltheway · 09/03/2025 18:08

I've never tried psyllium husks (and am most definitely NOT constipated on MJ!) but I have had chia seeds before and had similar pains so that's interesting. I just cut down the amount per day until I got to something that worked, haven't taken them for quite a while now.
also totally agree with the emoji - the one they use is clapping, so how is that 'thanks'?! I use it for congratulations too.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 09/03/2025 18:11

@stilllovingmysleep I'm very unfit, currently doing no exercise at all and I haven't really for getting on for four years. I know i need to make a start but the MJ and my toddler have wiped me out tbh.

stilllovingmysleep · 09/03/2025 18:26

@MananaMananaPenelope I'd love to have a small treadmill at home. We have a small house so am worried about space but I recently noticed some MNetters saying there are small treadmills.

The 2 forms of exercise I genuinely enjoy are walking and swimming - but with swimming I often avoid it due to the faff of going to the pool etc. I much prefer outdoors swimming.

For a while I did Joe Wicks body coach and loved it but recently I have struggled with very low energy so can't imagine taking that up again though maybe that's a mind switch and I'll get back to it.

Yes sugary things for me too cause nausea. Hope you feel better soon...

Yes I too feel quite exhausted a lot of time, more than I think is normal

HeavyHeidi · 09/03/2025 18:31

@stilllovingmysleep I have a small foldable underdesk treadmill, it can easily be stored under the bed or sofa. It's not really suitable for serious running, but fine for walking or a slow jog.

HeavyHeidi · 09/03/2025 18:36

Made some chicken soup. Had a bowl. Before mj, would have had probably 2 more. Now - I'm stuffed.

RosaBaby2 · 09/03/2025 18:48

Another one here that does no exercise. I hate going for walks (other than with my students as I'm their DofE leader🤣)

6yo wanted Chinese but he only eats chicken balls and prawn crackers. I had one battered chicken ball then took the batter off the rest for myself. Still astounds me the amount of willpower I have with MJ.

Hope everyone has a positive week.

Focussingonme · 09/03/2025 18:54

Sounds like lots of us are having good results!

I'm 23.5 lbs down now, W9D7 on 5mg now (second one tonight) but I'm heading out with some friends and have realised I'll miss my injection! I usually do it at 8.30, is it better to do it before about 7.30 or after when I get back about 10.30/11? I won't be drinking if that makes a difference? Argh! I've been religious about it to this point so I'm very annoyed with myself!
