That's absolutely wonderful @DareDevil223 ! Congratulations, you've done so well 🎉
Definitely not the easy route!

Re the weight loss getting more noticeable, someone on one of these threads likened it to a toilet or kitchen roll: when you take the first sheet off a full roll it doesn't look like much, but as you take off more sheets it suddenly makes a huge difference to the diameter of the roll. Here's to all looking like cardboard tubes! 😂

GrumpyMuleFan · 09/03/2025 08:55

@DareDevil223 bravo - huge congrats on your weightloss. What do you now that you didn’t earlier on? Would also love to hear more about your gym routine - I’m worried about saggy skin too!!

@DGonMJ congrats to you too! A new swimsuit is a great marker and motivator. I had a look this week and there are some gorgeous ones coming out.

@MananaMananaPenelope i would book both too! I love the Lakes so much. Haven’t been to Amsterdam since I was a teenager, but city breaks are like a shot in the arm.

@HeavyHeidi i def notice this. Even on weeks when I don’t loose much, I notice a change in my clothes. Feels good!

@Zempy hope you feel better in your body.

I love catching up with all the news on Sunday mornings.

myladyjane · 09/03/2025 08:56

@DareDevil223 that is absolutely awesome. Well done

@MananaMananaPenelope enjoy Pilates. I think chill break although I do love Amsterdam

@Zempy hope you feel a bit better soon.

I feel a lot more rested today after lazy day yesterday. I had my lovely long walk at a snails pace then did my lent challenge weights mini work out and oddly that helped.

Period ended (normal for me, only ever have 3/4 days) and whilst d1 was quite heavy it was broadly normal so the mj delayed it arriving but nothing more. Let's see if it does that again.

I did a slightly delayed weigh in due to period and lost 3lb which takes me to a 16lb loss in 8 weeks. If I take out the week one water weight then averages out an about 1.5 lbs a week.

I am trying to avoid too many targets but if I could get my bmi to under 35 by the end of my next pen (6 doses) then I would be thrilled. That's about 8lb so hopefully doable. I still haven't moved up to 5mg but will probably do so on the next shot and stay on 5 for the next pen.

DGonMJ · 09/03/2025 08:59

@HeavyHeidi @Zempy I’m one of those who instantly loses weight from my face so I got a few comments on my face last month. But I think this month dresses are hanging off differently, so it’s more noticeable, even my shoes felt looser.

Just did my first jab from the 5mg pen. 50 clicks, so just over 4mg. Took a few extra clicks to prime properly, maybe 6 before the liquid started to come out properly.

So far I’ve done: 5 x 2.5mg, 3 x 3.33mg, 1 x 3.75mg and 1 x 4.17mg. Will see how this week goes and whether I can titrate up on this pen to get to 5mg.

I’ve lost 0.2lb this week which is a bit meh, but I knew it was coming as I’m a daily weigher. It was a bit lower during the week. I’ve had a stressful, tiring week and not handled it as well as I hoped. I have felt so tired and had two days where I “stress-ate” licorice and chocolate. Felt crappy afterwards and then didn’t want to eat proper food. I ate three small meals yesterday and had a very long sleep last night. I feel as if I’m def learning what works and what to avoid. I just need to remember all that ‘in the moment’.

it’s my 8th 2.5 injection today and day 51 of MJ. I can’t remember the last time I stuck yo a health regime for so long or so consistently.

Weve booked a beach holiday for December and I’m really, really excited. Never done something like that in winter and I’m looking forward to feeling confident and proud (in my new swimsuits!). 🩱🤿👙🏊‍♂️🌞

2025istheyeari · 09/03/2025 09:07

First of all, massive congratulations 🎉 @DareDevil223 what a phenomenal achievement, so inspiring, I bet you are over the moon after all that hard work!! Hope you’re celebrating!! I’d also love to know about any weights you’ve done, I definitely need to do some strength work.

@MananaMananaPenelope, well done for doing your class and agree with others, book both trips!! But seriously they both sound wonderful!

@zempy, feel better.

@myladyjane great weight loss, well done! And @DGonMJ !!

I do love following this thread and everybody’s journeys! Sorry if I’ve forgotten anybody!

I had my hair cut and coloured yesterday, quite a lot cut off and I love it, need to figure out how I style it though! Also bought myself a trench coat in a 14🎉I’m v booby and thought it would be ages before my top half was a 14 so v pleased! Lunch out with friends and after a few days feeling grim I managed a bowl of fish soup which was delicious!

A long walk in the sun today and maybe some gardening tidying. Happy sunny Sunday to you all!

Seaitoverthere · 09/03/2025 09:18

@DareDevil223 , how congratulations, that’s amazing !

Thelittlestranger · 09/03/2025 09:30

@DareDevil223 what an I inspiring post. It is hard work - people can be so judgemental.

@MananaMananaPenelope I'm a big fan of Amsterdam - used to work there. Beautiful city.

@Pandora71 enjoy the cycle and sunny day !

WI today - lost 3/4lb. It was lower in the week, but sticking with the weekly one. STS last wee. It's made me realise I can't stop tracking calories yet. It calms me when the scales are being slow to move - as I know I'm doing what I need to. Without it, I would start to second guess. That's my crutch for now.

SW: 168.5
CW: 148.7

Went out with all my friends yesterday expecting them to notice my weight loss - haven't seen them since I started. Not one did! The only person who did was the one who knows I'm on this 😂 But I can see it in the photos and in the clothes that don't fit, and on the scales. I liked the photo of us all. That felt good.

Enjoy your days ladies - I'm off to catch a flight later, so will make the most of this morning.

Jins · 09/03/2025 09:36

@DareDevil223 well done! I love to hear success stories.

DH and I had theatre tickets yesterday and it was lovely being able to travel there in sunshine and dry weather. I got my steps in easily! We decided against a meal out afterwards (match day - say no more!) and had a homemade briam instead which we became addicted to in Corfu last year. I suspect it was slightly too high in fibre for me as I feel a bit bunged up this morning but it’s only one meal so hopefully will sort itself out quickly. It’s much easier adding fibre than reducing it!

Sunny again today but I really need to get on with making curtains for our bedroom. I hate making curtains but it’s a room with 3 windows and I couldn’t find any to buy that had the variety of widths and lengths I need. I’ve finished one pair so far 😢

HeavyHeidi · 09/03/2025 09:38

Where are you going to, @GrumpyMuleFan ?

CurlsandCurves · 09/03/2025 10:00

@DareDevil223 congratulations! You must be absolutely buzzing this morning!

@MananaMananaPenelope we went to Amsterdam at the start of this year, right before I started on MJ. Beautiful city, so much to see.

@GrumpyMuleFan love a bit of winter sunshine, where are you off too? You’ll need a whole new holiday wardrobe by then, exciting.

Went to the gym and saw some friends yesterday. Then in the evening we had a takeaway. I kept it fairly healthy with tandoori chicken and salad. But the chicken was so dry I couldn’t eat it, it’s usually so lovely from the place we get it. So a bit of naan bread and salad it was.

I was going to go for a walk today as it’s so lovely, but talked myself out of it, legs are aching after the stair master at the gym. Then DH gets up and says ‘it’s a gorgeous day, shall we go for a walk?’ So the exercise in the sunshine is back on!

GrumpyMuleFan · 09/03/2025 10:06

@CurlsandCurves @HeavyHeidi we are going to Mauritius! I will need some new clothes, although I still have a box of summer clothes that I haven’t worn for a decade. I kept all my favourites. But, like others have said, old clothes don’t always hit the mark. 😀

cloudjumper · 09/03/2025 10:25

@DareDevil223 that is so amazing!! Massive congratulations, you are an inspiration!

MJalltheway · 09/03/2025 10:35

Congratulations @DareDevil223 ! Amazing achievement!
@GrumpyMuleFan mauritius!! So jealous, that's one of the places we've looked at so often and have never taken the plunge. You must report back after you've been.

Inspired by reading about all the exercisers on here, I've just done my second Davina strength programme workout. Bloody hate squats!! But then I was thinking, if my DH was doing the same squats as me, he'd effectively have to be holding 20kg weights to match my weight. One of the things I hope is going to get easier when the weight is down a bit!
I find the strength training workouts so boring - 3 sets of the same thing. Much prefer dance/cardio/boxfit/yoga. I go to aquarobics at the local gym and LOVE that, it's so fun.

RockyisMYRhino · 09/03/2025 10:41

Just done a mid week weigh in and gone up a little. I'm hoping it's going to disappear along with a it more by official weigh day on Thursday but not holding out much hope! Not too sure what's going on but it may be the HRT I started last week playing havoc with hormone levels etc?
I was hoping to go to the gym this afternoon but DC1 woke up feeling a bit poorly today so wants a pyjama day with mummy. Will definitely have to make up for it next week though!

fudge77 · 09/03/2025 11:00

Hi all,
Bit of a lurker on here but read your posts with interest everyday, it’s so nice to read about others on the same journey as me and well done on all the loses no matter how big or small we are all taking control of our health!
I started 6th Jan now on 5mg and going up to 7.5mg in a week, I’ve lost 21lbs so far so very pleased.
My current side effect is constipation to the point I’m worried I’m going to get piles! So after reading some of you on here have found psyllium husk helped I ordered some (800mg) and took my first one last night. Overnight I had horrendous stomach ache, is that normal and will it pass? Should I continue? Would really appreciate some advice?
Thanks and good luck to all.

MJalltheway · 09/03/2025 11:10

Did some measurements this morning too, have lost 7cm off my waist and 11cm off my hips so far! And a whole.....1.5cm off my bust 🤦🏻‍♀️

TicTac80 · 09/03/2025 11:27

@DareDevil223 that is absolutely amazing effort, work and results. Well done my lovely!! You're bloody awesome!!! And yes, whoever says that this is easy can bog off.

@DGonMJ , I'm 5ft 4 and I think my target weight would be about 60kg. Maybe 55 - 60kg. Not sure yet. As long as I am healthy, I'm not tooooooo worried. I think for future, I'll be taking stronger action if weight creeps up to 65kg. I definitely need to be watchful of it. I am going to need to buy new bras/clothes soon, but I think I'll wait til I get to target weight and then invest in some lovely items.

@HeavyHeidi, I felt like this too. I didn't really feel like I'd lost much but I know I have...and it's been in the past week or so that others have really started commenting, and I've started feeling it. God, it felt so bloody uncomfortable having the excess weight on me!! One of my DCats is just over10kg (he's an MC) and I can't imagine carrying that extra weight on me now.

TicTac80 · 09/03/2025 11:30

@fudge77 , make sure you drink plenty of water. I've started on the magnesium (as recommended on here) and I think that is helping. I've not needed to take a bisacodyl this week, which is great.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 09/03/2025 11:30

@daredevil that's amazing! Well done, such an inspiration!
My goal targets are aimed at holidays as well. We are going to Kos in October and the Maldives next Feb, I would so like to look better for both trips!

HeavyHeidi · 09/03/2025 11:52

@MJalltheway have you tried Caroline Girvain? She has plenty that do not have any repetitions, more fun.

@TicTac80 I have a MC as well, yes indeed would be quite a bit harder doing everything carrying him around.

@GrumpyMuleFan we went there last year, lovely island. Have you booked the hotel yet, which coast did you choose?

2025istheyeari · 09/03/2025 11:55

GrumpyMuleFan · 09/03/2025 10:06

Ooh that will be amazing, what a great motivation for you! Mauritius is lovely, and the weather will be fab at that time of year, whereabouts in the island are you going?

DareDevil223 · 09/03/2025 12:20

Thank you for all the kind comments everyone, much appreciated.

It took a long time to see a difference and the last couple of stone has made the most dramatic difference in my appearance. I'm an hourglass and lost all over so it took time to drop clothes sizes but now every pound makes a difference, especially on my legs which were the last thing to get slim. I still have my chunky calves though sadly!

For those asking about exercise, I've always been a keen weight trainer but for the last couple of years I've ben heavy weight training 4 times a week and that has minimised any muscle loss and loose skin. I've lost very close on 9 stone and I have a bit of loose skin on my stomach, thighs are a little wobbly (but with loads of muscle too!) and a bit of underarm wobble and that is it. I use an app The Harriet Harper Fitness Method (she's on IG and the app is the HHF Method if you're interested, it's great).

I'm in my late 50s but I have very few lines so I think I must have really elastic skin which has helped. I've not had any hair loss either but I do have very thick hair.

I feel like a different person (half a person?) Getting dressed is a pleasure and I have totally changed my style. It's very different to wear something boxy or oversized when you can tell it's the clothes not the body. Vinted has been my friend in building a new wardrobe as I've gone from a 22 (I didn't wear anything fitted so hard to judge my real size tbh) to a 10-12. A few more pounds and I'll be a straight 10.

Anyway, that's enough from me.

MananaMananaPenelope · 09/03/2025 12:44

Well done @DareDevil223, inspirational 👏👏👏👏.

I can only do one trip 🤣, I’ve done both before. I could either drive to the lakes (70 miles or so from me), relax and walk, or cram a lot in going to Amsterdam. I’m leaning towards the former. I’ve done 2 or 3 nights a year in this gorgeous hotel in the lakes since COVID, always feels like a bit of a reset. DC will join me if they can, they’ll both be at uni by then, I guess the Lakes is easier to arrange on a maybe.

I survived my class 😬, my local town is full of very active people (with obesity rates being much reduced on those nationally). As expected I was the only fat old bird in there. The instructor was really lovely and it felt mostly achievable although I did feel a bit nauseous and had a breather at one point. I did feel very out of place tbh in a fat sense. It wasn’t a nice feeling.

You will love going away in your new body @GrumpyMuleFan how lovely to have that to look forward to. 😍

I’m going to make myself two boiled eggs and soldiers for lunch. Interestingly some of the group at my class were talking (judging) about supermarket bread being unhealthy and not ever going down two of the aisles in Waitrose because they were full of rubbish and viewing the supermarket as a social experiment 🤦🏻‍♀️. I just thought crack on (🐄). I’m sure my two portions of sliced sourdough a week aren’t going to make a massive difference to my health.

I’m listening to this in the car atm, let’s hope it sinks in after this morning 😉.

Checking in… went up to 7.5mg on Friday and felt dreadful yesterday, awful reflux, tiredness and burps.

not been eating as clean as was so stalled a bit but down from 21st to 18st 10.
any other tips for reducing side effects welcome please! Also anyone tried injecting in leg not stomach? Does it help at all?
thanks!
