@discoballv that is amazing - well done you. New territory is very exciting. Maybe we just need to keep on and not focus so much on a number, but how we feel when we keep taking all the actions. We’ve all been so brainwashed for years about short term, quick fixes and target weights. Maybe the long term solution is to live the lifestyle and then see where your body settles. Rather like a final set-point that doesn’t change?

Thank you. That is a really good way of looking at it and I think I might take that approach!

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 16/03/2025 06:39

I'm the same @Jins, lost about a stone but no change in dress size yet. Having had a couple of days of very bad eating (not as bad as pre-MJ but close), I've had a bit of a wake-up call as to how easy it could be to get back into old habits. I need to beef up my mindset.

HeavyHeidi · 16/03/2025 07:01

I don't think there's an ideal weight for body frame, but what will make a huge difference is muscle mass. I didn't do any sports when I was younger, I remember at one point in high school I was 57 kilos and wearing size 12. Then discovered Bodypump in mid-20s and was 62 kilos, but size 8/10. So lift those weights!

DareDevil223 · 16/03/2025 08:16

I'm not sure that the wrist measurements thing works for everyone. I'm 5ft 7in , currently 11st 4 and wearing mostly size 10s now and my wrist measures just over 5in. I have very small hands, very thin wrists and small feet but I'm quite broad shouldered or maybe I just think of myself as big boned!

It's like my body gave up growing when it reached my extremities Grin

On 7.5mg now and having great suppression. I'm not sure that I'll have to go any higher to lose the last 10 or 11lbs but I'll see how the month goes.

SteveHarringtonsHair · 16/03/2025 08:33

Morning all, good to see everyone contributing lots of thoughts and feelings.

Sorry I haven't really added much in that way, I've had a really difficult couple of months since starting MJ and although I'm really happy with my weight loss it hasn't really been at the front of my mind.
I love coming to this thread though as even if I'm not posting regularly, I really appreciate all of you that do.

Interesting link @HeavyHeidi I'm 5ft 6ins with a wrist measurement of 6". I'd never have thought of myself as small boned.
Having a massive chest doesn't help there though. Usually vary between a 36G/H at all the various weights I've been in the past.
It's been a very long time since I've weighed anywhere near my GW though, it's too much to hope the boobs might shrink a bit.

The set point weight really resonates with me too. Thankyou for linking to that article @Thelittlestranger
I've hovered between my CW and my SW for years. Haven't dropped below that for 20+ plus years. So I think my weight loss might plateau for awhile too and I'm ok with that.

I stayed at 5mg this month because the side effects moving from 2.5 to 5 were rough for me.
I'm hoping it means I can actually enjoy eating food again and drink more water. And start some exercise finally.

SW 196lbs
CW 168lbs
GW 133lbs

Good luck everyone.

Thanks @GrumpyMuleFan 🥰. It might be just tiredness. I don’t think the novelty is wearing off. I’m absolutely determined to shift this excess baggage once and for all.

I think that realising I’m still above the weight I was when I first decided that I needed to take action about it has given me pause for thought. I’m so annoyed with myself for allowing another stone to creep on. I’m sure I’ll feel better when I drop below 10st.

The other thing nagging away at me is the financial aspect of it all. I’ve had such positive side effects from MJ that I want to continue with it long term. I don’t have IBS anymore and it’s worth every penny for that! It’s just finding those pennies! Once my fat loss piggy bank is empty I’m going to have to juggle budgets an awful lot. DH is right behind me though which is good

Interesting discussion about goal weights. When I lost weight on low carb I didn’t really have a goal in mind and just followed the plan until I hit a normal BMI. My body then took over and decided where it wanted to be and I maintained around 8st 7 for years with minimal effort. So I’d put on half a stone on holiday and it would drop off over the next few weeks. Once my BMI goes above 25 I lose that natural regulation. I really hope it’s the same this time.

Morning all

@SteveHarringtonsHair sorry you’ve had a difficult couple of months but glad this thread is keeping you going.

Another thank you here for the set point link @Thelittlestranger I’ve definitely gone past one or two of them already. I would routinely get to 76kg and go on a diet to try and get back down to 68, but give up at about 72kg.
I think MJ has hacked it though, because as soon as that extra grehlin comes in to get us back to the set point we just increase our dose. I’ve lost 14% of my starting weight - so would explain the small losses prior to this week.

@GrumpyMuleFan what lovely compliments to get from your mum!

Week 11 Day 1
Have gone up to 5mg for first time, even though I was doing ok on last week’s 4.17mg dose. Official weigh in is same as yesterday so:
SW 76.9kg
CW 68.3kg
GW 60-65kg

Loss this week 1kg - which is a lot for me! I’m expecting that to slow again this week.
Total loss so far 11.3kg
