You just put the chicken in with cold water. I add a couple of bay leaves, peppercorns, two cloves of garlic, maybe stick of celery and a carrot. Press the soup/stock button and let it go. The heating up of the water = cooking time, as does letting it release pressure naturally.

2025istheyeari · 07/03/2025 20:44

i also struggle with lunch and have been trying these over past couple of weeks- quinoa salad with edamame etc, I pop in fridge and ds and I use for lunches with protein and extra salad stuff, this soup recipe is nice https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/spicy_parsnip_carrot_red_33026 or I love shaksuka or frittata if I’m at home- couple of eggs, I add spinach, feta, mushrooms, jalapeños and olives and it’s delish ( although I’m off eggs atm!). I also poach chicken, sometimes I add ginger, star anise, spring onions and a few other bits and make a kind of Vietnamese pho with the stock, throw in some noodles.

in other news, 7.5mg on Tuesday and I have felt awful since! Exhausted, nauseous and couldn’t really eat much until today. I have managed 1200 calories today though so hopefully much better!!

happy weekend everyone, enjoy your evenings out those of you who have them and well done on the amazing loss @JoanCollinsDiva ! @myladyjane you
have clearly lost if you’re in smaller sizes so well done!! My measurements do t seem to have changed much either but I’m def in smaller size clothes, weird!

Suffering today. Have had a busy work week for hospitality and too much fizz, and not enough eating at all - despite being out for dinner twice. Very uncomfortable stomach pains today - have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first time in weeks as I felt my body needed it. Succumbed to scampi and chips tonight thinking I wouldn't eat it all, and inhaled it - so I was clearly lacking cals. However, I suspect the pains are digestive so I have also taken a dulcolax for the first time.

That combined with the fried food is going to make an interesting event. I just hope the pain goes away. Wish me luck.

And I'm travelling next week, all week too. Fun, but not great for my body.

My go to brunch right now is poached egg, sourdough toast and smoked salmon. Delicious.

Has anyone moved up from 5mg to 7.5mg yet?

I've finished my 5mg pen now. Still staying in a deficit, still losing (slowly, but I'm a slow loser anyway!). But... I have been picking at biscuits etc again. Still 10 x more sensible than before but it's just a bit weird now as I'd completely cut out snacking for a while.

Also worried about side effects but the jump for me from 2.5 to 5 was manageable, a few days of sulphur burps but nothing horrendous and I actually feel my digestive issues have settled whilst on 5mg.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/03/2025 21:48

i had my first 7.5mg jab last night, no side effects yet, good appetite suppression but have still managed 2 meals today plus a banana for breakfast. I’m happy with it so far but obvs still early days!

cloudjumper · 07/03/2025 22:45

My 7.5 mg pen arrived today, but I'm not injecting until Tuesday. Having some doubts, suppression on 5 mg is still going strong - with the lower doses, I noticed them tapering off towards the end of the week by the time I was due to go up - but not now. Hey-ho, will see what the weekend brings. I don't fancy counting clicks tbh, so will probably take the plunge.

I feel the same! 5mg is mostly doing the job but I also don't think I can be bothered with the counting clicks. Will order my 7.5 pen this weekend x

Therealmetherealme · 08/03/2025 07:04

@2025istheyeari I felt the same on my 2nd 5mg shot last Friday. The food suppression was so high, I couldn't eat even small portions but I'm determined not to snack in between meals so it's been a struggle. As I'm not eating well I'm tired and dizzy at times. I want to learn healthy eating habits so it wasn't great. It suddenly disappeared on the Thursday. On Shotsy my level was around 6.2 over that weekend, so I can't imagine how the 7.5 might make me feel. Hope it settled down for you.

MananaMananaPenelope · 08/03/2025 07:36

@Thelittlestranger you deserve a medal for doing this while travelling all the time.

I’m unsure about moving up to even 5mg at the minute. I’m eating circa 1000 cals a day on 2.5mg, rarely going over that number. No side effects at all. I’m happy with everything atm but I’m not sure if I’m missing a trick.

Thelittlestranger · 08/03/2025 07:55

Well, I keep thinking imagine how much weight I would have put on if I wasn't on this and eating out so much?! 😂 Pleased to report I'm feeling much better today - but will be avoiding booze at my girls' lunch later for sure.

Still can't get over how easily I inhaled dinner last night - body was clearly telling me something.

Happy weekend everyone! Enjoy the sunshine. I have my son's football, a long walk and a girls lunch to look forward to. Hope you are all doing something nice for yourself (that doesn't revolve around food!)

HeavyHeidi · 08/03/2025 08:21

@MananaMananaPenelope I have not moved up and have ordered another 2.5 pen. It works well, so no need to increase the dose at least for now.

have a 5 in the fridge just in case, and ordered a few prescriptions in both doses just to stockpile. I'm abroad, at least at the moment there are no discussions here about restricing the prescriptions further, but you never know.

Some studies claim that it takes at least a year to re-set your body's weight set point. So once I get to goal weight, I am planning to stay on a small dose for a while and definitely not to cold turkey.

DGonMJ · 08/03/2025 08:24

W9 D7 3.75mg

Pen delivery was delayed with DPD yesterday, hoping it turns up today as jab day is tomorrow. Thought I was being clever ordering it to arrive the Friday before my Sunday jab, to minimise fridge anxiety.

Am definitely going up to 4mg, maybe even 5 after not much change on the scales this week. However in NSV I did have a close friend at work comment on my weightloss - they noticed my cheekbones, and said when I turned sideways they really noticed.

I’ve had to eat out a few times this week so I’m now craving homemade food, steamed veg, not cooked in oil. I ordered a big bowl of pasta with beef last night as I couldn’t face yet another Caesar salad. Ate all the meat first, had maybe a third of the pasta. And took the rest home for the family to have leftovers.

RosaBaby2 · 08/03/2025 08:31

What scales are you all using? I'm not sure what is going on with mine but when I first step on they tell me a different weight, then after that consistently the same weight (just tested it 5 times) 🙄

Twiceasnice25 · 08/03/2025 08:35

Hello,

What does NSV stand for ?!

Jins · 08/03/2025 08:35

I did my 4th dose of 5mg yesterday and although suppression is there it’s not what it was so I’ll definitely be moving up to 7.5mg after the bonus dose. I had hoped to be able to stay on 5mg for a while as it’s cheaper.

At least I haven’t been troubled with side effects. The first weekend on 5mg was great, it felt like Christmas Day as I just felt full and sleepy.

I’ve got 4lbs to go to reach the weight I was when I started Atkins years ago. It feels like a significant goal somehow. As if I managed it before so I can do it again.

Zempy · 08/03/2025 08:36

I had a good night out with friends. I did get interrogated a bit but nothing hostile.

Brought half my pasta home and didn’t drink. No starter, dessert or fancy coffees. Made the bill much cheaper too! I’m a really cheap date these days!!!

Looking at photos of last night was almost a pleasure. I didn’t look HUGE and I can really see the difference now. 😍

UnderandOverwhelmed · 08/03/2025 08:39

What Psyllium husks are people taking? I think I need to add that in as I'm often going 4 days with no BM (which is kind of how I've always been) and is feel so full and big with it. I seem to be alternating between that and crazy diarrhea, can't win so I'd like to be more consistent.
I normally do a mid week weigh on Saturday morning but I'm a bit scared to after no loss last week.

HeavyHeidi · 08/03/2025 08:40

@Twiceasnice25 it's non-scale victory. Things like clothes fitting, moving getting easier, skin conditions clearing up etc.

MananaMananaPenelope · 08/03/2025 08:42

@HeavyHeidi , thanks, that’s good to hear. I’ve got 3 doses of 2.5mg left if I use the bonus dose and I’ve got a 5mg pen in the fridge and another one being delivered at the end of March. I’m not worried about wasting some of the 5mg pens if I stick at 2.5mg as there’s only about £10-15 difference in cost from memory.

Stats are:

SW 104kg 1st injection 23/1
CW 97.2kg
I’m on dose 6 of 2.5mg as I skipped a week when I was unwell.

Nutracheck only lets you put 10% of your starting weight in as a target and so that’s currently 83kg but I hope to make it to 70-75kg. Lifelong weight pre cancer was about 60-62kg but I’ve got no desire to get back there at my age.

@UnderandOverwhelmed I’ve got the solgar ones, 500mg. One a day seems to work for me (you can have two).

@HeavyHeidi I’m with you on wanting to do a maintenance dose until my body has reset. I’ve read it can take up to two years to change the reset point, but that could just be other MN posts! Would like to find the research 🧐

@Zempy such a nice feeling being able to look at last night’s photos and see the difference. I had a work team night out on Thursday and I just looked old rather than old and fat!

It was a group photo from dinner with friends in December that finally convinced me to take the plunge with MJ. I nearly ordered it that night, but DH advised me to pause and book blood tests so we could check thyroid first.

OP posts:
Zempy · 08/03/2025 09:13

@DGonMJ That’s exactly right! Instead of fretting over my huge face and body, I was looking at my eyebags and frown lines!!

Old instead of old and fat is still a win!

@RosaBaby2 i have the juniper scales but also Renpho smart scales. The juniper one can be a bit flaky, sometimes I get on and off it if it shows a sudden overnight 3kg increase and it settles back to a more likely weight. But the Renpho scales have never fluctuated so I’m more inclined to believe it.

MananaMananaPenelope · 08/03/2025 09:36

@RosaBaby2 have you checked the batteries? My eufy scales were a bit variable last week (sadly in the right direction), I changed the batteries and it has solved the problem.

I realised that I am feeling quite positive last night.

I was discharged from one of the clinics I go to last week, chemo had caused soft tissue issues in an area of my body, after 18 months of physio it has resolved.

So positive that I've taken the brakes off my club membership, booked some lessons for a sport I haven't played for two years, booked a massage and booked myself back onto the weekly reformer pilates classes I used to love.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 08/03/2025 10:06

I braved the scales and am 1.2lbs down at the half week, so very pleased. I'm now (just) under 200lbs, which feels like a nice milestone, hopefully onwards and downwards!

myladyjane · 08/03/2025 11:07

@UnderandOverwhelmed fantastic! Super work mate.

@MananaMananaPenelope also fantastic work. It's lovely to hear you sounding so positive.

@Zempy @DGonMJ I spent a dull teams call looking at my turkey neck not my double chin. NSV indeed.....

I think the why we eat (too much) book by Andrew Jenkinson has a lot on set weight point and how long to 'retrain'. I don't know if anyone has read it - it's very interesting. That said I can't remember how long he said but I want to say it was 2 years. I am avoiding books like that atm just because I want to focus on doing a bit not understanding the theory but I do recommend.

I have woken up with mild sulphur burps again - I made myself a fakeaway fillet 'o fish last night which had a frozen battered fish fillet (it was nice but a bit oily). Hopefully just that. I do feel a bit ill though. Headachey and sore throat but I also get massive tree pollen allergies at this time of year so it could be that.

I was up very early again so I may go back to bed for an hour as I have a quiet day today and out all day tomorrow. I do also want to go for a long slow walk in the sunshine with a new audio book. Ideally away from bastard trees but that's a challenge when you live semi rurally....
