Well done everyone.

So, I'm slowly going down and had the second jab from my first 10mg pen last Thurs. Suppression better than 7.5, but not overwhelmingly so - which I think I like as I don't think super high is helpful for building good habits for eating well in the future. Still no negative side effects either, which is great.

I'm about half way through the Kgs that I hope to lose....depending on how I feel I actually look once I get down...it's so long since I have been in the healthy BMI range that I'm not sure how I'll feel to drop too far into that zone.....

I have had a think back on the 6 or 7 weeks that I got stuck at the same weight and in case it is helpful to anyone else I think that the following applies to what happened to me...

I stayed on 5mg for a second pen (I lost well up to that point, and it was over Christmas and New year and I was afraid of new side effects as I wasn't at home). I was OK to stay the same weight over that pen, but when I went up to 7.5 I still didn't lose for a couple of weeks and only a tiny fraction for the rest..

I think that, without really realising, whist I was away I didn't eat as well as I had at the start...and I learnt that my body could do that ...kind of in spite of/despite the MJ...so I'm thinking that my portions slowly increased.

Also I had lost the weight I had put on in the last 4 or 5 years. Effectively I had lost the most recent increases and was down to a weight that I had been within a kg or 2 of for quite a long time....my set weight???... and certainly for me a subconscious mental block weight....!!!!

I've done a lot of reading up and now that I am conscious of this, it almost feels like I have, in the last couple of weeks, had to make a whole new pact/agreement with myself about losing the next set of Kgs....pretty much the same as at the commiitment i made at the start....and to be OK with it....and to be OK about becoming that thinner person again......and letting it happen....after all I know MJ works for me so......I just needed to really focus!

I'm slightly unsure about whether to stick on 10 or go up for the next pen....I guess I could get 10 and then use the bonus dose to titrate up if I feel I need to.....???

Hope some of the waffle helps someone who feels stuck....

Thanks again to everyone for your posts. I dont have kids and I only signed up on here because I had followed the MJ posts here for months before I ordered my first....I'm glad this group is so supportive....there are some really crazy comments on other subject matters....which is really sad.....
I'm glad I hadn't seem any of that before I joined up....

I had exactly the same - stayed on 5 over Xmas and then weight loss virtually stopped. It’s really interesting to read your thoughts on why, because I’ve not allowed myself to think to deeply on it (I love being in denial) yet I knew I was behaving differently too. Sort of become laisez faire about it all and letting bad habits sneak back in. I had to have a proper word with myself when I started the 7.5. But it took a good 3 weeks for the 7.5 to build up and I’ve found a better suppression coinciding with me trying to sort my habits out.

TheChosenTwo · 24/02/2025 14:42

Wondered where you’d all gone!
Lost 1lb on Saturday which takes me to 50lbs done or roughly 3.5 stone since the last Saturday in October. My starting weight was 16 stone on the nose. I can’t believe the transformation, physically and mentally. It’s totally incredible at times.
I ordered myself a dress which has just been delivered, a size 12 and it fits like a glove. It’s been probably 15 years since I could buy a size 12. I had been in 16s and even some 18s before.
I know people scoff at the notion that it’s ‘easy’ but I genuinely have found it a total breeze compared to all other attempts at losing weight. With insulin resistant PCOS food noise and sugar cravings were always there. Even during the spells of time I didn’t give in to them they were always there.
Yes I’ve had the permanent feeling of coldness, a bit of constipation here and there and about 4 sulphur burps but overall I’m so much more energetic and can move easier and my body isn’t just always aching.
I suspect I will need a maintenance dose forever more in order to keep my weight from ballooning again but my god it’s a tiny price to pay compared to the cost of feeding my cravings.

lickycat · 24/02/2025 14:47

@RunSlowTalkFast @recklessgran I too have only told my husband. I don’t intend to tell anyone else, and like you say, Reckless, I’m not having to explain away any dramatic weight loss anyway! I had a period of illness last year and following it I decided to make a few changes to improve my health and immunity - more exercise, less refined sugar etc - and I told my friends about that. That was before I’d even heard of MJ. So I’m hoping they’ll all assume it’s because of those changes, which I’ve still kept up.

HansHolbein · 24/02/2025 15:22

@YummyCookie Congratulations on getting to goal. Amazing loss. I think maintaining is sometimes harder than losing, isn't it?

@Bluenose1966 There's some really depressing and frankly antagonistic stuff around online. You can clearly see who reads (and believes!) the Daily Mail. It's all words on a screen though; we know the truth.

@RunSlowTalkFast Is this at least easier to 'stick' to? Before MJ would you have given up after a few weeks? That is always what used to happen to me. I don't know anyone on it, that have told me anyway. I work from home so don't really interact with that many people. I think there is also a reluctance for people to talk about it at the mo, with all the bollocks flying around. I would only tell someone if I knew they struggled with their weight and/or would be receptive to it. I won't open myself up to anyones ignorance tbh. My husband and a few family members know but other than that, nobody.

@letshavetea Glad to see you're still with us. I understand. I'll forever be grateful for your tip about my thigh! Enjoy the jeans.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 How did the house move go? Are you unpacked yet? Have you figured out how to work the oven and all that fun stuff? Not long for 2st! I'm sure you'll hit that by next week.

@Fizzleawayyy1 I have another 10mg coming tomorrow. 10mg has been very good to me so I won't dare mess with it lol. I'll see how it goes for another month and then consider moving to 12.5mg.

STS is annoying but you're right in that you've done well considering the eating out and stuff. I've turned into a daily weigher, seems to be working well for me. I don't want to wait a week to find out what the damage is. I am also relieved that the children have done back... I don't miss them at all lol!

@HappyNewt Thank you for your waffle! Makes total sense.

@TheChosenTwo Your weight loss is incredible! We have a very similar story. I was 16st 2.7lbs and that wasn't even my highest weight. Originally it was 20st and I've battled with that 4st for bloody years. PCOS has make it just about impossible to lose weight ever, let alone consistently. I started putting weight on around the age of 11. My parents and brother are all slim, healthy, and active and our house was always full of good and healthy food; why was I different? I spent so many years deep in shame and loathing trying to control something I couldn't control. Well, it wasn't my fault and it isn't your fault. MJ has set me free.

I don't really have a set weigh in day anymore as I am weighing most days but currently this is where I am at..

33yrs PCOS 5'5
SW: 16st 2.7lb/102.8kg BMI 37.7
CW: 12st 3.3lb/77.7kg BMI 28.5
To go: 3st 3.3lb/20.5kg
Total lost: 3st 13.4lb/25.1kg/55.4lbs

My size 16's are getting baggy so will be making a trip to Marks&S this weekend. We have a quiz to go to on Sat night... this will be the first time I've seen these people since October, so it will be a shock for them. This will probably be the hardest thing for me so far because I don't really know what I am going to say. We are shit at quizzes and have come last 2 years in a row, might as well make it 3 Grin

Love to all x

Have had a skim of updates, some brilliant ones! I have too much going on at the moment and it's so lovely to see the positive updates, all moving in the right direction Smile

lapuf · 24/02/2025 18:21

I'm a bit annoyed with my scales, I saw a flicker of 9st 9.8 yesterday and was 9.11 this morning! I swear I always weigh heavier on a Monday (my official weigh day) as I only have toast on a Sunday these days Blush it's the weight loss gods' way of telling me to have some yogurt Grin

TheChosenTwo · 24/02/2025 18:25

@lapuf don’t forgo your normal
foods when eaten in moderation! When we come off this or even just on a low maintenance we will need to be able to eat a sensible balance of foods and for most of us that will include small amounts of things like toast - it’s a normal food!!!
I’ve stopped eating anywhere near as much bread as before but I certainly wouldn’t ever get rid of it completely, it’s too fucking gorgeous 😂😂

lapuf · 24/02/2025 18:27

Ha I know, it's tiger bread for Sunday brekkie. No way I could give it up so that's why I've tried to keep it one meal out of my 21 whereas previously it could've been 15/21 Blush hence the weight creep! When I first read why we eat too much I did cut right down but MJ helps me ignore the "eat me" squeaks from the breadbin Grin

femininomenon · 24/02/2025 20:29

Just catching up as realised I didn't post my weigh in yesterday, not much to report but another 2lbs down, I'm hoping to stay in this rhythm now!
SW: 17st 4
CW: 15st 1

@HansHolbein going back a couple of days but re 10mg, I ordered 12.5mg for my next pen as I have always felt the need to move up but I am now on dose 6 of 10mg as I've just done 48 clicks from my 12.5mg pen the last couple of weeks. It has been working so perfectly it seemed silly to move up and risk side effects.

@igivein 60lbs is incredible well done!

@Bluenose1966 ahh goal weight HUGE congrats!!

@YummyCookie and you as well! I am a long way from maintenance but I can imagine it will be hard to switch the mindset after a life of wanting to lose weight constantly.

@TheChosenTwo 50lbs is fabulous well done!

@recklessgran I hope the increased dose was ok for you and you haven't suffered at all.

Thanks for posting this, you've put my thoughts into words! I've lost 10kg and STS for 2 months.

I've just made a new pact with myself for the next 10kg.

If i need to re-agree with myself 7-8 times to get to goal that is what I shall do!

Oh I recognise that too well, something like toast or crumpets at 11, a pitta or sandwich when dh got home from school around 4 and then normally some bread served with dinner. Not 3 meals every single day but certainly more days like that in a week than not.
Now I limit bread but when I really want it I will enjoy it not just use it as a lazy way to feed myself.
Ive got so much more energy and I’m eating way more whole foods and raw stuff!

Anyone had any friends start Mounjaro?

I haven't told anyone I'm taking it but a friend has recently started and said she was telling me and a couple of other friends as she knew we had also struggled with our weight and she didn't want to lie to us and pretend she was suddenly losing weight easily.

I feel so guilty but really don't want to tell anyone 😩

Me and my closest friend are taking it more or less started together. It's good as you can support each other through it all and understand each other

Bluenose1966 · 24/02/2025 22:10

@recklessgran So sad to read about your DD5 and her fertility problems, must have been so stressful for you both. My eldest and his wife are starting IVF next month, she said if she hadn’t been about to start IVF she would have gone on MJ as has PCOS and struggles with her weight.

Thanks @YummyCookie Just ordered the Barebell Marshmallow protein bars, if I prefer them will hide from my husband.

@RunSlowTalkFast I totally get you not telling people about MJ. The people I trust know I am on it. In fact my sister, two of my cousins, my best friend and her sister are all on it now. However I have not told most of my friends as know how judgemental some family and friends are. Most of them have commented on how well I look and I just say thanks and if questioned further waffle on about Fast800 which is true as I did follow that in the beginning.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Re my old clothing. I have several bags to give to the charity shop of the size 16s but have decided to keep some of the 14s under my ottoman bed for now. Some of the decent makes I have put to one side as may try and sell on Vinted, but not sure if I can be bothered.

I know how frustrating it must be for the slow losers on here but agree in the long term it is the best way as more likely to be body fat. Several of the health podcasts I listen to say slowly is the way to go for better health but for some reason we seem to celebrate quick weight loss, when it is more than likely muscle mass we are losing.

Lovely day here today, did 3 mile walk with dog in the woods, went the gym then came back and washed my filthy car in the sunshine. Can’t wait for the nicer weather.
Trying to be more active as too easy to plonk on the sofa and not move for hours.

I actually lost 2st before starting mounjaro and kept it off for months months so not really. The issue was I wasn't trying to maintain I was trying to lose more but seemed to have hit a wall where I struggled to lower my calories any further!

Mounjaro has slowly got things going again and I'm at the end of my 10mg pen so going to keep going up to 15mg I think.

My friend was struggling with her weight and had mentioned mounjaro a few times so she did know about it but she only started recently. I feel so awkward.

TheBeeGees · 25/02/2025 11:01

It's been soooo long since I checked in on these threads. Life, and time, has just run away with me for a couple of months...

I think I last posted my progress in early December(!) since then I've been in the US twice on business for 2 weeks at a time, which is always a nightmare because of the lack of available veg-heavy, but lower carb, meals that I prefer. I've also gone 2 weeks between doses while away as I didn't want the hassle of carrying pens with me - I only take cabin bags on business trips.

Anyway, since my last check in I've moved up the various doses to now being on 10mg (2nd dose this week).

SW 12st 9
CW 11st 8 10st 9
GW 10st 4

So very nearly there now. My GW equates to BMI of 23/24, which I think is ok, and im losing around 1lb per week.

If you feel the need to confess, can you be vague about the start date? I’m not a fan of outright lying because I’m totally shit at keeping it up and end up dropping myself in it, and then it’s even weirder because I spun a web of lies about the most mundane thing 😂. But lying though omission might be ok!

Not posted for ages but following everyone’s progress and so glad to see some fab results.

I am on week 18, on 5mg, moving up as slowly as I can as I am very sensitive to the drug and want to reduce side effects.

Mounjaro has been beyond incredible for me. I feel free of my obesity struggles which I’ve had since childhood. The relief is incredible. I’ve gone from a size 16 to a 10 which is the slimmest I’ve ever been. Lifting weights at the gym to try to keep muscle tone and really enjoying it. Here’s a graph from Shotsy, too.

Good luck to everyone on this journey!

My own angle on this is that I've previously lost weight - quite a lot of weight! - through consistently eating a low-carb diet. I'm also eating a low carb diet while on Mounjaro.

So if anyone was to ask, and if I didn't want to talk about it with them, then I'd say I'm on a low carb diet again, which is completely true.

I have been missing in action a bit and its lovely to catch up with you all and see what's happening. I am starting on 7.5 mg this Saturday after 2 pens of 5 mg. I found that I got severe munchies Thursday evening so the suppression wasn't as great. Despite upping my protein and reducing calories I plateaued at 15 stone 5 lbs for a month!! However I stuck with it and was 2 lbs down this morning (despite promising myself to weigh just once a week I don't Grin) So a 33 lb loss in total. Slowly slowly catchy monkey.

I tell people I am on the jabs as I am rapidly approaching 70 and frankly,my dear, I don't give a damn. In fact it encouraged my lovely nephew to start on Mounjaro too - our Yorkshire mill worker ancestry leans towards the porky side when we are not working 12 hours a day in t'mill.

Onward and downward

@HansHolbein I bet that feels amazing - your DH will have to start hiding his jeans!

As of this morning I'm 3 stone down! Still a long way to go, but I'm so pleased. Here's my chart.

Morning all, thanks for sorting out new thread @HansHolbein
Week 18 weigh in - age 58 and on HRT.
Lost just over a pound this week.
SW 12-2
CW 9- 7.9
GW 9-7
So close to GW, in fact sod it I am classing myself as at GW.😂

Going to be two days late taking my jab this week as decided to start taking it on a Sunday so I have more appetite by the following weekend. Going to reduce from 6.25mg to 5mg and see how weight goes over next few weeks until pen runs out. Will then start official maintenance.
Lots of stories on Reddit on halving the pen dose and making it last 2 months, though obviously no prescriber would officially allow that. Though they will allow month on/off strategy. I want to reduce the costs long term so may order more pens then pay for monthly maintenance. Likely I will then reorder at least one pen when coming to the end of the 12 months to keep myself on the scheme. It’s going to be a balancing act staying at goal.

Have bought loads of clothes from Vinted in a size 12 and delighted with most of them. However I am going to have to bite the bullet and get rid of my size 16s as wardrobes chocker. I’m really worried about getting rid of them though 😱

Still eating 120g protein and weight training twice a week to counteract any muscle loss. In fact think my strength is going up as lifting heavier weights.
My cousin same age as me is on MJ and doing brilliantly, she is on a permanent high as has really improved her mood, she reckons before her blood sugars were haywire which really affected her.

Oh goal weight - that’s amazing 🤩 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Mrsmajeeka · 25/02/2025 17:40

Random NSV today, working in London office, haven’t been down since last October before I started on MJ. Generally wear jeans, comfy clothes when working from home but had a dress and tights on today. Was walking through the underground and had the realisation that not only were my thighs not rubbing together, they didn’t even touch while I was walking 🙌
