Two months on 2.5mg, three on 5mg.

I think that’s your problem to be honest, staying low works if you’ve got good suppression, but you don’t, I’d move up, as it is just a waste of money injecting a low dose that’s not doing any thing for you.

It was fine for the first two months of each dose, but I think I need to move up.

lapuf · 20/02/2025 21:24

Well done @Losingthetimber 👏

lapuf · 20/02/2025 21:27

I had a STS this week but been away and eating food on the go. My suppression has been abnormal this week, I'm on my third 5mg pen (well, fourth, but did 3.75 from the first one). I inject on a Sunday and have been completely disinterested in food Confused I thought I'd regret not moving up to 7.5 but I've been completely fine. Hoping for a whoosh on Monday like I usually get as I've got my period today so blaming that for the lack of scales movement

ChimneyRock · 20/02/2025 22:01

Hi all - haven't posted on these threads for a while but I started back at the end of October.
I have had good suppression and good steady weight loss (currently on 7.5mg and not really hungry at all) - have lost 27lbs and am down from 14st10 to 12 st 11 (at 5'8")
BUT.... feeling quite fed up now because I have lost precisely one pound in the last month. I'm quite constipated (taking Dulcolax once a week for a clear out!) and definitely look and feel slimmer but it's just not showing on the scales.
Any ideas to help? Pleease!!!!

Are you calorie counting and ensuring you’re in a deficit?

ChimneyRock · 20/02/2025 22:12

Hmm, not really. I've been assuming so as I'm eating so much less than I did pre-jab. But that's probably something to look at.

Yes, for a stall this long i would be counting cals as my first step.

EVK · 21/02/2025 01:22

@ChimneyRock i had a stall like that, i don't calorie count but knew I wasn’t eating too much. Things just started shifting again - slowly. I’ve slowed again now after a good couple of weeks, I know it’s frustrating but also part of the process for some or most of us at some point. Try not to lose heart as I’m sure things will start moving again - just eat clean and healthy, keep moving, get some resistance work in and all should be well. I’m on my third pen of 5mg I think and I’m a day off next jab - hardly thought about food today (apart from this morning when I was really hungry.) I don’t think I’ll lose more than 1lb this week and the week before last I had a STS week. I do think once you’ve lost a certain amount things slow down - your body is desperately trying to hold on to the weight by slowing all your autonomic systems down eg. You may feel colder as your body stops burning calories as heat, your metabolism will slow down, to try and compensate for the lack of calories it’s receiving. If you then cut down on food some more it can make this worse so do make sure you’re eating enough - your body will be freaking out - sensing its in starvation !

ChimneyRock · 21/02/2025 08:07

That makes sense, thanks.

lapuf · 21/02/2025 08:46

Good advice from EVK, definitely eat more but better. If you're nourishing yourself with salads, protein, veg, etc you should be fine

ChimneyRock · 21/02/2025 09:02

That's the thing, I AM eating healthily but I do have the occasional treat, by which I mean a glass of wine once or twice a week and maybe a biscuit. I should have thought I could do that but maybe not at this stage. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, I disagree with my lovely fellow posters. I think tracking calories over the course of a week, and working out your tdee is a key first step to understanding this.

portion size, treats, drinks, all of it, make sure everything is done accurately, take the week, divide by 7, use an online calculator for tdee.

500 cals a day on average under tdee results in a weight loss of 1lb a week, 1000 usually 2 lbs.

if you’re under, then it is just a very big stall and it will start to move, but if not, then there is no point continuing or even eating more, as you will continue to not lose, be frustrated and waste money,

so understanding that for me, is first step.

HansHolbein · 21/02/2025 09:16

@lapuf Period has a lot to answer for, I swear! Mine is due on Sunday so I don’t expect much movement for weigh in on Monday.

@ChimneyRock Sorry about the stall. Annoying! As women we’ve got a lot to contend with, with all the hormonal stuff going on in our bodies. Definitely start tracking what you’re eating, you might be surprised?! Keep going, it has to move!

Gah that's shit then! I ignore calories now after learning that our metabolisms will speed up or slow down by up to 600 per day to try and fight to keep us at that weight, hormones are great when they're working for us, not so great against us Grin

We’ve seen your pics, you don’t look dreadful. You look lovely and as much as we didn’t see before images, keep in mind how far you have come.

but I hear you, I got similarly stressed about work, I’ve got four dinners next week, then a dinner out on sat with family/friends. So I’m mentally planning what to wear and wtf to eat..

Thanks for your kind words. I think I'm just having a bad day ha... I don't look that bad, the dresses are all a 14 but I'm still so much bigger then I was for years so I think that's sticking in my head.

One 3 course gala dinner is bad enough in a week, let alone four dinners out!! 😳I'm already stressing that I'm clearly going to have a STS this week and then next week will be 50/50 if I lose any weight due to working away for 3 days!

Anything that I can avoid or put off socially I am if it involves food at the moment!! Lucky really my mum is also on MJ so if anything involves them she's also avoiding ha

I'm going to stop being lazy and walk to the shop for some milk!! it might cheer me up marginally!!

Yeah, but you’re also so much smaller than you were, so think of the positive, I get it’s frustrating though. We have moments like that.

and yes the meals out is shit, it’s not just the food, it’s the booze too and everyone drinking round you.

im going to pack some Huel blacks in my hold bag, and just have them for lunch, and also take packets of dried fruit for breakfast, as that’s what i normally have, avoid hotel breakfast, and if anyone comments, fuck em, I will say I’m still on my diet and want to stick to it, which is true.

dinner I will avoid starters and pick the healthiest options for the main, no dessert.

on sat we are going for an Indian, so will have just a tandoori or shaslik with a salad.

ahh booze doesn't bother me. I don't overly drink to be honest, normally only on special occasions or a girls night out with my friends will I really go for it. Never at home unless its xmas.

I doubt il drink at the gala dinner except the welcome drink.

You sound very prepared! with the meals I pick i will go for steak and veg and for the stuff I cant pick I will just pick something sensible.

I had a dry Indian recently, honestly wish I hadn't bothered as it was so bloody dry and crap. It was a waste of money. FX yours is better 😂

Iv had a cup of tea and I'm now in a better mood. I may even log off work early and have a hour to myself before my kids get back from their grandparents.

Great news @Losingthetimber. I think it really is good to remember that what we’re doing can and will bring significant health benefits.

Yes steak and salmon/seabass I often go for. Chicken is difficult as it is often smothered in some sauce. I don’t mind dry Indian if I can have an onion salad with it,

booze it is more about my change of behaviour, as normally I was the one shouting “cmon, bar for a swift one” at the end of the meeting, and the last one standing at the end of the evening. Now I’m not able to stomach more than a couple of sips of wine, don’t want a spirit, and fizzy drinks don’t appeal, and folks commented on it. At home it is fine. With friends more difficult. I will drive I think on sat.

I’ve also had a quiet work day, another meeting at 3 then I might log off too.😛

Missreginafalange · 21/02/2025 16:03

Hi all, been absent for most of the last thread as life has been hectic. Will try and have a flick through and catch up.

Currently 3 stone down and on 7.5mg. I've noticed not a lot of difference in terms of suppression to be honest to the 5mg, going to try a different injection site next and see what happens, I have another 7.5 in the fridge so may have to work more on my calorie deficit than I have been which isn't a bad thing for the long term.

The last 2-3 weeks my weight loss has been minimal but without MJ I would be gaining and losing the same 7 pounds at a slimming club so all positive.

Losingthetimber · 22/02/2025 08:07

Morning all, happy Saturday!

weigh in day, another 1.8lbs off this week. its definitely slowed down a little, so injected in my tummy this morning, see if I can give me a little boost as always do thigh, especially as away all next week. But suspect it’s as I’m getting close to target.

Sat 12 Oct, starting weight 32.7 bmi/14.12,5 stone /94.6kg (🥹)
Current weight 25.2bmi/ 11.7.1 stone/73.3kg
total loss 3stone 5.4lbs. /21.3kg, think that’s just under 23% of body weight, but my maths is crap.
19 weeks done.

Initial target weight 23 bmi, 10.7 stone /66,7kg
likely final target, 22 bmi 10 stone/, 63,5kg.
height, 5ft7.

bp readings were still fine this morning, so fingers crossed. They were 110/67. But noticed yesterday the dizzy/whoozy feeling I’ve been getting when I stand up, didn’t happen at all, and I felt less knackered , I googled as I was surprised, and it is a side effect of the bp med, so hoping stopping has maybe resolved that. 🤞

onwards and downwards, good luck everyone with your weigh ins.

NeverJustInTime · 22/02/2025 08:12

@Losingthetimber … this is me! No one seems to understand how hard food choices are when your job entails meetings over lunch, evening events, networking breakfasts and dinners. I am so often not in control of what I can eat. It makes me hate my job, particularly when I’m someone who finds it so hard to lose weight. It’s like my job sabotages my efforts…. And o top of this there are the personal social events too like a relative birthday meal out. Restaurant menus are so tricky to navigate… they even manage to make salads fattening! People say you can’t let a meal out stress you so much, but when it’s regular it can make such a difference to weight gain/maintenance. I’m terrified of putting the weight back on. I find losing weight the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve never managed to maintain. I’m coming off the jab due to bad side affects so I’m really panicking about work functions (they were v quite Jan/Feb, start to ramp up again March) 😥
