@HansHolbein hello hans, just as I recovered from the chest infection I picked up the worst bug I’ve ever had. Had a rubbish week trying not to 💩 myself on teams 🥲. Oh to be away on my own, even with the geese chatter! Enjoy!

The silver lining of my germ fest has been that I lost another 6lbs, it’s my birthday next weekend and the dress I got is very fitted so every little helps. Annoyingly since being off MJ my PMS cravings came back and I now fancy certain things for dinner etc whereas before I could go all day without thinking about food. But staying strong and back to intermittent fasting to try and maintain, love hearing those of you who are doing so well in maintenance 👏🏼

Defo more food noise but it’s somehow more manageable now that there’s no additional feelings of guilt and depression about being overweight accompanying the noise. It’s a different game without MJ that’s for sure!

HansHolbein · 09/06/2025 21:08

@TheChosenTwo Gosh I am so happy for you that MJ has helped your PCOS. I wonder in time if it will be approved for PCOS too? My husband had a vasectomy in November and we’ve just had the results back… we are all clear! I see a lot of surprise MJ babies on Reddit. Two is enough for me!

@Mincepieinthesky You have had an awful time of it. I’m so sorry. Lots going on for you. 6lbs… every cloud and all that lol. Well done for not shitting your pants. No coming back from that one Grin

@Letshavetea1 Glad everything went on with the call. I always read good things about Oushk.

@igiveinLovely, another 2lbs off! All heading in the right direction. I’ll be right there with you on the long term front.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Oooo nearly in the next stone bracket, love that! I also find 15 a bit weird. Some days I’m full up, some days I’m starving?! Weird. Gym classes sound like a really good plan to replace MJ with.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Are you ok?

Well, I hit 7st loss today! Thats 98lbs! Fuck me! I have 2.7lbs to go until target. 16st 2.7lbs to 9st 2.7lbs. I can’t really believe it.

I say I have 2.7lbs to go but… I don’t know. Maybe a couple more? Maybe 8st 12lbs? I’m an apple shape and carry my weight on my stomach and there’s still quite a bit there. I guess I will have to reassess at 9st - but what can realistically change in 2lbs?

Anyone else not sure when is the right time to stop? How do you know?

TheChosenTwo · 09/06/2025 21:42

Thanks @HansHolbein - I’ve had such an overwhelmingly positive experience on MJ, I’m so grateful to be in the position to be able to afford it in the first place and indefinitely - I wonder what will happen in the future as it’s basically replacing what my body wasn’t doing in the first place in terms of the insulin resistance. The effect it’s had on my PCOS is nothing short of miraculous.

And a huge congratulations on the 7st loss, that’s phenomenal 👏🏾
I’m not planning on stopping in terms of the medication but I’m at a weight im happy with. Will need to continue for as long as I’m prescribed it! Looking into maintenance options.

lapuf · 09/06/2025 22:03

Amazing @HansHolbein that is incredible weight loss! We’re a similar weight now but you’ve lost well over double what I have Shock

I reevaluated when I got to 9st 7 and said 9st and I think that’s right for my small/pear shaped frame. My old way of telling if I needed to watch my weight was if my thighs touched, and they still do, but maybe I’ve changed shape.

It’s a quandary overall though as you want to factor in a bit of leeway/contingency Hmm

Letshavetea1 · 10/06/2025 07:37

@HansHolbein - really pleased for you! It’s fantastic. Are you planning on staying on MJ?

EVK · 10/06/2025 09:07

@HansHolbein incredible achievement- you must feel like a million dollars. Congratulations 🙌 @TheChosenTwo im so glad that your PCOS is now controlled and I’m also hoping that in the future it will be recognised as a medication to support women with this condition and that you’ll be able to receive it on the NHS. @Mincepieinthesky I hope you’re feeling g better this week - it’s totally miserable having back to back illnesses! Take it as easy as you can x

Im 8.10lbs this morning (admittedly pre- bowl movement!) so maybe 8.8-8-.9lbs. This has given me anxiety! I’m feeling like things are slipping backwards and I need to get a handle on it. I’ve started on my 2.5mg pen and feel like I’m failing 😩 I know this is a learning curve but it brings back so many negative feelings about being unable to control myself ! I need to find a positive mindset on this. I’m rubbish at counting calories and know what I need to do is reduce evening dark chocolate treat, adjust portion sizes and stop all nibbling while cooking!! That’s slipped back in. Also, I’ve been eating nuts with dried fruit left over from my sponsored 26 mile walk !! They’re all gone now and just as well as I know that’s high calories.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 10/06/2025 12:51

@HansHolbein Amazing loss! well done!

Still here, just had a really busy week or so with my wedding anniversary, sons bday, work and I was away on a hen do last weekend.

I lost 1lb last week, I will probably STS this week due to all the drink at the Hen do, then another meal out for fathers day this Sunday coming, after that I have a break from social stuff for about 3 weeks where I'm hoping to shift some more.

I feel like I'm so far behind where I want/should be by now. I still want to shift 2 stone give or take but I just have so much stuff booked in that I cant get out off in the time frame I want!

Gilly1C · 10/06/2025 20:45

Hey all. I need to ask something as feel like I am going mad. I am coming to the end of my journey with 5lbs to go. This is month 2 of 15mg, however. No matter what I eat these last 2 weeks I just feel rotten afterwards, ihave not suffered any ill side effects the whole time during my journey. Anyone else experienced
this? I know far fetched but it's like I am not tolerating food anymore 😭

I felt like this at first on 7.5mg. I just felt rubbish all the time, and couldn't face food. It did wear off but I felt awful for the first week after each of my first 7.5mg jabs. Actually, I probably felt awful because I didn't eat (low blood sugar I guess). When I began to tolerate food better, I felt better. It was because of that experience that I decided not to go any higher than 7.5!

surreygirl1987 · 10/06/2025 21:00

Congrats by the way - 5 lbs to go is amazing! Time to titrate down?

Letshavetea1 · 10/06/2025 21:01

@Gilly1C so sorry to hear you’re feeling like that. I think in that situation I would contact my provider and probably go down to the dose below (I’d that was working for you)? I hope you’re okay soon.

Letshavetea1 · 10/06/2025 21:02

lapuf · 10/06/2025 21:02

Can you taper down with this pen @Gilly1C?

Gilly1C · 11/06/2025 06:13

Thank you all as always. Agreed I think its time to start going down.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 12/06/2025 12:02

How is everyone getting on? Weather is awful here today, working from home and iv ran out of milk for a cup of tea. Tragic.

Iv just ordered two lovely dresses from zara for occasions I have coming up in July and sept!

I bought mediums as I'm in a size 12 at the moment and some 10s on top, I'm hoping by the time I get to wearing them, they will fit nicely as I find Zara runs small.

One is a red satin number, which wont be to every ones taste BUT last year I felt so fat, frumpy and gross at the same event and this year I really want to feel great so my aim is to feel amazing and wear something I wouldn't normally get the chance to wow in.

It would be amazing if by sept I needed a small but il see how big the M is when it gets here.

Morning All
Just a heads up that I received this private message this morning, and they're probably spamming everyone on the injectables threads:

Hi,
I hope you're doing well. I wanted to reach out to let you know that we currently have access to retatrutide the brand new glp-1 peptide. If you're interested in discussing availability, pricing, I'd be happy to provide more details.
Please let me know if this is something you'd be open to exploring further.
Best regards,
GLP-1 Peptide Uk

A cursory Google shows this stuff isn't due to complete clinical trials until early 2027 (when we'll all be sylph-like anyway 😁) so it's got to be counterfeit. Please don't engage, god knows what you'd be injecting.

I'm going to report this post to make Mumsnet aware, so hopefully they can get rid.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 12/06/2025 12:59

@igivein Thanks, I got one too. Reported and blocked!

igivein · 12/06/2025 13:24

Had a message back from Mumsnet to say the poster has been blocked and all messages removed - well done Mumsnet!

lickycat · 12/06/2025 14:18

@HansHolbein 7st omg that’s amazing! Massive congratulations.

I’m still here, still trucking along. I’m on my second 15 pen, and still losing slowly at average 1lb per week. There’s really nothing to report - I’m still reading how you’re all doing, but I’ve nothing much to post about.

I’ve still got quite a way to go, not really considering maintenance yet. I had said a number of times at the start that I would be so happy to be on Mj for life, because getting rid of the food noise I’ve had all my life has been the most liberating thing. These days, I’m not sure whether it’s just that the novelty has worn off and I’ve forgotten how bad things used to be,, but I’m sort of hoping there is a life afterwards without MJ. MJ has resulted in a loss of enjoyment of a few things, such as alcohol. I’ve barely drunk since October, maybe that’s a good thing, but I do miss enjoying a cocktail now and then or a cold G&T on a warm evening.

MissMarvelMum · 12/06/2025 15:20

I went cold turkey and took my last injection 4 weeks ago, I have gained 10lb and I am eating like a human food waste bin again! Finishing the kids dinner, picking everytime I go on the kitchen, snacking at night time, constantly thinking about food and what I will eat next! I have swiftly ordered another pen and I have to start back from 2.5! Reality has kicked in this will be a long term/life long medicine for me. I did lose 3 stone in about 4/5 months. Then I stayed the same even with a 7.5 every week for the last 8 weeks, then I went cold turkey. Looking forward to getting back in control!

I got that too, it will be research grade that they are getting from china somewhere.

Retatrutide is being used by some in america at the moment and it seems to have better results then triz so will be exciting when its finally here.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 12/06/2025 15:46

@lickycat Sorry to hear you are not enjoying other things, is it just booze or anything else as well? I think its a known side effect.
I only really drink on nights out so hardly ever now, so I haven't noticed it become a side effect for me.
I still dont buy as much clothing either as i used too but I think thats because I still have so much that now fits.

@MissMarvelMum Sorry to hear about the 10lbs! I think its very common to gain back unless you are super mindful. I have no plans to stop anytime soon.

EVK · 12/06/2025 22:11

@MissMarvelMum it certainly is surprising when the appetite really kick in again, I was definitely thinking about food more and eating more - although still healthy choices. I put on 3lbs in a month and because I had an almost out of date 2.5mg in fridge I decided to start it and try to reset myself again. I started on Saturday and food noise has reduced again. I’m now trying to focus on portions and think about how MJ helps with that too. I can’t stay on it indefinitely as I worry too much about long term medication but I have to admit I underestimated how helpful even 5mg was at sustaining quieter food noise and satiety. I only ever went up to 5mgs but it really did help. It’s a horrible feeling when you start experiencing the food thoughts again - not sure how you get over that one without MJ?!!! You’ll lose your 10lbs and then you could maybe consider a more moderate tapering and maintenance for a while. I’m now considering something more moderate like a month on and a month off? I have an Oushk Maintenance appointment booked for August so will see what they advise. Perhaps I might then be able to extend the time off it - I don’t know - before going it alone again. This is a complete change of heart for me and I am disappointed with myself but I’m definitely not quite there yet.

@igivein Thanks for the warning. Doesn’t sound good. @Fizzleawayyy1 red satin dress sounds fabulous- enjoy. @Gilly1C sounds like 15mgs is just too much for you, definitely don’t want to be feeling like food’s not for you anymore! If you you’ve kept it in the fridge you could use it maybe for longer and taper right back. What was the best dose for you have experienced so far and what made you try 15mg? Not everyone needs the highest dose. I really hope you’ll start feeling better soon.

Thanks for sharing that @MissMarvelMum. very sobering, and very much helps me focus my thoughts on maintenance. I don’t think I’ve changed my habits/lifestyle enough to make any difference if/when I come off MJ, so I don’t see how I won’t put the weight back on if I stop taking it. I’ve started going to the gym, but I was fairly active beforehand, and only started the gym to avoid muscle loss. It’s not going to have a significant impact on my calorie expenditure. I don’t eat chocolate or crisps or anything like that anymore, but not because of a habit change, I just don’t fancy it while I’m on MJ. I feel like when I stop MJ, my eating will go straight back to what it was before. Sigh.

Alcohol, and like I said in my pp just now, I don’t enjoy things like chocolate, cake, sweets, sweet stuff. I’m seeing that as a big bonus, but it is indicative of a loss of pleasure in a few things. I Rememebr reading that one of the effects of MJ that they hadn’t anticipated was a reduction in the endorphin release, so there wasn’t so much pleasure to be found in scoffing a big bar of chocolate for example. And this is why it might be having an effect on addiction, because our pleasure receptors are dampened so that the ‘reward’ isn’t as good as it used to be.
