Can I please ask, how do you make your pens last for two months?? I thought they have an expiry date of 30 days once opened ..? I'm nearing goal weight now so very interested in how you manage it! Thanks!

They are ignoring the manufacturers guidelines.

If for example you wanted a 2.5 mg dose it would be cheeper to buy a 5 mg pen and take half doses making it last 2 months. The issue here is the drug is only tested for sterility for 30 days after first breaking the seal. Its not to say you will get an infection but they have not tested if the solution stays sterile for that long and it may cause an infection.

If you eat some meat past its use by date your stomach is fairly good at destroying microorganisms but you circumvent this security system by injecting the drug ( and any potential contaminates) . Basically an infection from an injected bug could be alot more nasty then something from food.

Letshavetea1 · 24/04/2025 19:18

Hello everyone. I haven’t been on here for a while, but have read all of the updates about how well many of you are doing - especially those at or near goal. I’m still plodding along slowly - another eight pounds to go and I will be a healthy bmi (just)! I think I’ll do another half a stone to give myself wiggle room. So about another stone to go. It’s taken me six months to lose one stone one and a half pounds. It’s been absolutely worth it. If it wasn’t for MJ I’d been in the putting it back on phase now!

That’s good to know - I’ve often wondered why! Tempting to eke it out but good to know what the risks actually are.

EVK · 28/04/2025 06:23

This has been a very quiet chat - I’m wondering if something’s wrong with my account or has everyone just been super busy ?! Or have you all moved somewhere?!

Letshavetea1 · 28/04/2025 06:44

Hi @EVK I agree, it is quiet on here! How is the maintenance going for you? What dose are you on for maintenance?
I’ve just taken dose 31 (!) yesterday. Second dose of 7.5mg for me. 8 lbs to go to a healthy bmi and another 7lbs then to goal. It’s slow for me but I’m determined to stick with it. 7.5 mg is feeling fine for me and I’m glad I titrated
up slowly. I’m hoping I can just stay on 7.5 mg now for the rest of my journey - but I’ll see how it goes.

fourquenelles · 28/04/2025 06:54

I'm still here plodding along at 1lb a week so now 14st 5lbs down from 17st 10lbs in October (18st 6lbs in Jan 2024). Still in the obese range but now size 18 jeans as opposed to 24/26. Hoping to be in the overweight range by the time I go to Canada for my 70th - yep I have no idea where the time went either!

Caffeineneedednow · 28/04/2025 06:56

Hi @EVK I am just plodding along.
SW 17 st 8 lbs
MJ SW 17 St 2 lbs
CW 13 st 8 lbs
GW ?
I am not quite finished my journey, similar to @letshavetea1 i have another 10 lbs to normal BMI and another 7 lbs on top of that to target.
I have chosen to go from 7.5 down to 5 mg as I am very tired on the 7.5. I am also struggling to do any exercise on it so hoping with some more gym time and some more calories on a lower dose I will get there albeit a bit slower. Overall I am 4 stone down from last summer ( 7 lbs pre MJ and 3 and a half stone on MJ). I still can't believe I am a size 16, I have never been below 15 st since I started weighing myself.

Hope everyone else's journey is going well.

icantgetnosheep1 · 28/04/2025 07:23

Morning all, I’m still here. Cheeky weigh in this morning tells me I’m at 8st6lbs still. Target was 8st7lb so happy with that.

I have a pen left of 7.5mg which is in the fridge unused.. 🙈 I’m focused on getting back to the gym to build up some muscle mass so don’t mind a little drop from 8st7lbs as I’ll likely build a little in the coming months. How you doing @EVK?!

lapuf · 28/04/2025 08:00

Morning all! I’m in early temporary maintenance as can’t jab due to surgery atm. I’m almost smack bang in the middle of my target range (9st-9st 7) and have one 5mg pen left. Think I’ll reintroduce it at 2.5 and see how I go in a week or so!
I had a tiger bread toast breakfast yesterday as my Sunday treat and then had a stomach ache all day. I can’t tolerate bread any more!

Bluenose1966 · 28/04/2025 08:30

Morning @EVK and all. We are over 6 months into our journey now and love reading how well everyone is doing.
Week 8 of maintenance!!! Down slightly to 9st 4.5lb on 3mg weekly and am debating whether I would now prefer a goal weight of 9 stone 2lb, I am never happy😂
Been weight training twice this week and daily walks of 4 miles with dog.
We are off to Lake Garda next week so been trying on all my size 10/ 12 clothes, mostly bought from Vinted.

We must of course each do what we feel comfortable with but I intend to continue to make my pens last two months. The MJ trials tested the pens out of fridge for 30 days and found safe. I keep mine in the fridge for the whole period and am scrupulous with the hygiene requirements so happy to continue as I am. It would be interesting if they did a trial for what would happen over 30/ 60 days etc if kept in/ out of a fridge. Pharmaceutical manufacturers are in this to make money and have been fined many billions in the past for unscrupulous practices so I don’t expect they will be interested in demonstrating if the pens are fine for longer.

Have sold over £300 of my size 16/18s plus resold stuff bought on Vinted I didn’t like on me. Though have spent well over £400 on Vinted as well as a couple of hundred more in M&S etc what I think are quite stylish items for the summer. I know they say MJ can stop you wanting to shop due to loss of dopamine but I have been the opposite unfortunately. I ordered some stuff for Easter from M&S that I can’t collect due to their cyber attack, hopefully they will eventually refund me.
Hope everyone enjoying the warmer weather where no matter what stage we are at we are all considerably lighter than last summer, albeit some like 58 year old me have more crepey skin.

Morning all

2 pound loss this week, which officially means 3 stone gone!

Still no significant side effects, although my suppression, as is normal for me towards the end of the pen, is starting to wear off.

Bonus dose of 12.5 done today, have my 15mg in the fridge to start next week.

Well done everyone on the loses!

lickycat · 28/04/2025 13:19

EVK · 28/04/2025 06:23

This has been a very quiet chat - I’m wondering if something’s wrong with my account or has everyone just been super busy ?! Or have you all moved somewhere?!

I wondered the same thing! Maybe people out enjoying the weather?

lickycat · 28/04/2025 13:29

I didn’t do a weekly weigh in as I was away at the weekend. But I took my last 12.5 on Saturday and have a 15 ready to go next week, but I’m torn about what to do.

i was really happy on the 5 back in November , and so did another 5 pen which led to about 6 weeks of complete stall. I swore to myself that from that moment on I’d follow the guidelines and move up every month, because it was so disheartening. But after 5 jabs on 12.5 the suppression is still very high, and I’ve still got the slightly nauseous feeling I usually get for the first couple of jabs of a new pen. I’m really tempted not to go up to 15. I suppose this time it’s different because I have the option of going up in a weeks time if I want.

Has anyone on here gone up to 15 yet?

And where has @Losingthetimber gone?!

Fizzleawayyy1 · 28/04/2025 14:38

lickycat · 28/04/2025 13:19

I think its a combination of things but mostly that we have all been at it for at least 6 months now and MJ isn't as new and exciting as it was.. so people are tending to not update/talk as much.

I still have over 2 stone to go though so I will be here for a while yet.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 28/04/2025 14:53

@lickycat I haven't gone up to 15mg yet but I don't think many people are on 15mg here (from memory) but I could be wrong.

I don't think @Losingthetimber has posted since end of feb/beginning of march at all as I just did a quick username search. Hopefully she is ok.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 3 stone! amazing! well done.

@Bluenose1966 enjoy lake garda!! on my list to go to...I also keep my pen in the fridge the entire time and make sure everything is clean.

@lapuf Good luck for your surgery!

@fourquenelles Well done for getting into size 18s, I bet you feel great!

------------------

I lost 3lbs this week, weigh day is Saturday morning.
I went for an Indian with friends Saturday night and Iv now got a dodgy stomach!!

No plans now for a couple of weeks so going to make a good push at shifting a few more lbs before I have more meals out planned.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 28/04/2025 14:54

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather too! ☀

EVK · 28/04/2025 15:22

Weather wonderful and so good to hear everyone’s news. I did my last 5mg bonus dose and have a 2.5mg in the fridge as well as another 5mg with a longer date. So I may just stop now and keep the pens for back up ? I’ve lost 3 stone. Which was something I could only dream of before ! I was going to use the 2.5mg to titrate down from 5mg - but I’m paranoid about my spleen even although I know the ache I have is due to hurting my ribs/intercostals ! - I just keep obsessing over every feeling in my left side and now wondering if it’s worth the worry - I’m at goal and don’t need to lose anything. If I dramatically find myself creeping up I can then use the 2.5mg - it runs out end of Aug. Which is annoying actually- basically sent me a short dated pen! (Oushk)
@Bluenose1966 - it’s very easy to keep adjusting the GW down! My brother, who I trust, said very kindly that I definitely didn’t need to lose anything more and I think he’s right - start to look a bit withered otherwise so I’m telling myself no more !!🤣 I guess it’s a case of how look and feel rather than what the scales say at a certain point?

EVK · 28/04/2025 15:23

Thanks everyone for flurry of responses 🩷

Pegsmum · 28/04/2025 15:32

I’m still here too, plodding along quite nicely.
@lickycat I’m on my second 12.5, it doesn’t really agree with me as all the other doses have so I’ve decided this will be my highest dose.

lapuf · 28/04/2025 16:28

@EVKso easy to think a little more off would be good! I’m a tight-ish size 10 at 9st 7 so 9st makes more sense for me, but my boobs have disappeared and I am missing that bit of fat padding out my face and making me look younger! I was down to 8st 10/11 briefly at 40 but didn’t maintain there

HansHolbein · 28/04/2025 17:08

Hi all, sorry for radio silence. Been a busy one with work and Easter. Everything back to normal now, thank goodness.

@MissMarvelMum Thank you for the link about set point!

@EVK Big congratulations to you on getting to your goal. Lovely to read.

@TheChosenTwo Woohoo! Sooo close! How are your PCOS symptoms?

@Bluenose1966 8th week on maintenance, wow! All of your retail shopping sounds great. How lovely it is to have more choice. Not long until your holiday, exciting!

@Gilly1C Oh I am so pleased that you broke your plateau! Really happy for you.

@igivein Hope you're having a lovely time in Florida!

@lickycat You're doing great. Well done. Can't believe how time is flying. October seems like years ago. Feeling the same about 15. I have 2 weeks left of my second 12.5 and it has treated me well. By day 6 I am having some food thoughts, so maybe I do need to go to 15. I am then worried that after that there is nowhere else to go. I just don't know. No idea where @Losingthetimber has gone... it's been a while.

@recklessgran Really hope you're feeling better now. Worried about you.

@Mysticmaiden Lovely to read your update and glad everything is going well for you. Lovely 2.6lb loss.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Great to read your update. 3st! Let us know how 15mg goes?

@Missreginafalange I know, right! October seems so long ago and I could never have dreamed that this was possible. 52lbs is incredible! Wow. Good luck with the gym.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Hope all your food related stuff went well! 3lbs, woohoo! Have you been on your holiday yet?

@littleburn Wonderful update from you. So glad that you're feeling comfortable and thinking about maintenance.

@Letshavetea1 Good to see you! I agree, worth it and totally priceless. Finally free and just going about my life without thinking about my bloody weight 85,000 times a day.

@fourquenelles Wow you've lost an incredible amount of weight in total. Such a big clothes size difference. Wonderful. Have you got anything nice planned for your birthday?

@Caffeineneedednow Woohoo another amazing loss! I had a very weird time on 7.5; it seems other people too. I wonder why that dose is troublesome for people. As soon as I moved up, everything was fine again.

@icantgetnosheep1 Wow under goal! You must be feeling great. Have you bought any new clothes? So many lovely bits online at the moment.

@lapuf Oooo I love tiger bread! Unfortunately, I'll shit my pants if I eat stuff like that. Sometimes it's worth it, of course! Have you had your surgery yet or are you waiting? Sorry, can't remember! Still happy to send that book to you if you want it.

No real news from me. Glad the kids are back at school... we went away for easter which was nice. Lots of chocolate about and I did have a creme egg. Fuck me it was sweet though! I've not eaten chocolate in months and I couldn't believe how sweet it was.

Current stats

5'5 PCOS
SW 16st 2.7lbs BMI 37.7
CW 10st 5.4lbs BMI 24.2
TL 5st 11.3lbs
To go 1st 5.lbs
GW 9st BMI 21
From size 18-20 to size 10

At the beginning of lockdown I was 20st and a size 28-30. I couldn't get below 16ish st by myself. I can't really believe this is me now. I can wear what I want, pick out what I want and just be free. Everything is easier. I am so grateful. Re maintenance, I'll be on this for a long time. As soon as I stop, the PCOS will wreak havoc again. I'm treating MJ as a medication to manage my PCOS, much like BP or diabetes.

That's it for now, love to all x

@HansHolbein thank you, how sweet of you to think of me - I'm OK now don't worry. I decided to take a couple of weeks off in the end after that health scare. I'm going to inject again tonight and see how I go as still a bit shaken after that close shave - which I'd like to make clear was nothing to do with MJ just by way of reassurance to everyone here. I am keeping up with you lovely lot don't worry!

EVK · 28/04/2025 22:11

@recklessgran im so glad you’re feeling better. 🩷

Fizzleawayyy1 · 29/04/2025 09:39

@HansHolbein Yes been away, back home now and back to work.

WFH today, may go and sit in the sunshine later in the garden.

I feel a bit picky today food wise, no damage done yet but I'm 90% sure its down to it being nearly that time of the month again. I always used to break my diets around this time of the month and although MJ takes the edge off and helps a lot, I still have more food noise around now for a few days over any other time in the month.

Iv bought Ashwagandha as I read online its supposed to help.
