Yes hair loss is the side effect I’m suffering from the most and it’s quite shocking. I’m losing an alarming amount every time I wash and brush it, which is only about 2-3 times a week anyway (curly hair, I don’t brush it though unless it’s wet). I started off with very thick hair and now it feels like I’ve lost about half of the bulk! It’s possibly not as dramatic as that but I can definitely do more loops of the hair tie!
I thought I ate a decent amount of protein and I’m not sure how to remedy it. Not sure supplements will help?

Fizzleawayyy1 · 29/03/2025 07:26

@LumionaMoonsplash well done! I cant wait til I'm as low as 11.9lbs!

@flowerlady2 To be honest my hairs always been a bit shit! its not thick at all and never has been. I wear extensions on and off, I had them taken out 2 weeks ago to have them reinstalled Monday for my holiday and my hair feels thin but I cant tell if its because iv gone from a full head of hair to my own hair 😂or if its the MJ, I haven't noticed any extra shedding though since Iv had them out when brushing.

One thing I do seem to be all the time at the moment is.... exhausted! I'm falling asleep on the sofa by 9pm most nights at the moment, even my husband has asked me if I feel under the weather.

When I go to the GP for my next B12 shot, I'm going to have bloods done and see if I'm levels are low again, I think I need the shots closer together.

BUT ANYWAY.... I lost 2lbs this week! That brings the total to an official loss of 4 stone in 23 weeks. I'm now 12st 11lbs.

Looking at my weight loss week on week and I dropped from the 16st bracket to the 15st bracket in one week (lost 13lbs the first week).
15st to 14st took 5 weeks
14st to 13st took 7 weeks
13st to 12st took 9 weeks!

I'm hoping my holiday doesn't hinder my 12st to 11st too much as Id like to do it quicker then 11 weeks if I follow the pattern above 😂

icantgetnosheep1 · 29/03/2025 07:33

I’ve also been concerned about hair loss!! My hair has always been thin but I’m pretty sure it’s worse and I’m losing more 😬 this was one of my biggest fears with the jabs. I take supplements and have collagen powder in my morning coffee - kind of a desperate attempt to avoid going completely frigging bald.!!

Bluenose1966 · 29/03/2025 10:12

Congrats on all the weight losses this week.
I haven’t really had hair loss but I know it is associated with weight loss so hopefully as we all eventually go into maintenance it will regrow. I have really fine hair and my nana wore a wig due to thinning hair so I really can’t afford to lose any of mine.!!!!
I am eating 120g protein a day and have Hunter Gather collagen in my coffee which I am hoping helps.
I also take creatine, magnesium and Vit D3 which seems to be beneficial for lots of things.

5th week of maintenance after 37lb weight loss.
SW 12st 2lb
GW 9st 7lb
CW 9st 5.5lb lost 1lb from last week (target to stay between 9st 4lb - 9st 10lb so ok with that)
Weight training / stretching twice this week and 4 mile walks with dog on 6 days.

Going to experiment reducing my dose from 5mg to 2.5mg this week as I think because I have been eating so healthy I am struggling to eat enough calories as suppression so high. The protein is really filling me up. Plus will make pen last longer.

My only complaint with MJ is like @Fizzleawayyy1 feeling very tired. Will be interesting to see if lowering my dose helps with that.

Have a good week all.

hopeishere · 29/03/2025 11:04

NSV I took my blood pressure yesterday and it was in the “normal” range!

fourquenelles · 29/03/2025 17:19

What ho again lovelies. AT LAST I have hit 3 stone down on Mounjaro having started on 16 October. Slowly slowly at about 1.5lbs a week but I am getting there.

SW 17 stone 10lbs
CW 14 stone 10lbs
GW 10 stone (and then revise if necessary) as I am a shorty with small bones.

I haven't noticed any hair loss tbh. I am now on 10 mg doses and so far (5th injection) I am missing the sulphur burps.

TheChosenTwo · 29/03/2025 18:02

Congrats @fourquenelles - I love the NSV so much as they’re evident day to day but there’s something satisfying about reaching mile-stones!
Weigh day for me today, lost 2lbs.
started on 26th October.
SW: 16st 0
CW: 11st 12
GW: don’t know. Maybe 11? I’m 5’8 so think it’s probably a reasonable weight for my height.

TheOtherSide21 · 29/03/2025 19:49

You literally cannot stop the hair loss retrospectively. By the time you’ve noticed it happening, that part of the hair cycle is already under way and will only slow once your body has adjusted / you’re out of a nutritional deficit.

good news is, any hair you lose will grow back. Will just take time. I have noticed a fair bit, and I’m a bit gutted as my hair is my favourite part of me, but I’ve had stress alopecia before so been here and done this before and it’s grown back so trying to take it in my stride.

in other news - I am 2lbs off 7 stone. My first goal weight is 8 stone off so not long before I come off and give myself a shot at maintaining - and regrowing my hair 😂

I'm in line with you! Started at 16 stone 3, currently 12 stone 9! Go us!

Also due to go on holiday but determined to eat healthily. I always have a lower appetite when it's warm anyway so hoping won't be too hard!

EVK · 29/03/2025 22:28

So many of you having amazing weight loss. My hair is horribly thin anyway especially since menopause, when I definitely had a period of losing loads !! I haven’t noticed it getting worse. I also take collagen and hair supplements. I’ve actually put on 1lb this week! Im not massively bothered as im close to goal and think im just plateauing again- just hope next week i can tip it back other way!
I realise that I need to wean my self off MJ now. I have one 5mg pen left to follow the one im on now and have ordered a 2.5mg - then im stopping - there’s a part of me
that doesn’t want to as im terrified of going back to old habits but i listened to the podcast someone posted on the previous page and i think it makes sense to come off - it does for me anyway. I didn’t think I’d be resisting the idea for as long or as much as I am but that’s because I’m so happy with the new me and so scared of falling back into old habits. It concerns me, the link between GLP1’s and growth of tiny new fat cells!! Just ready and waiting to fill up!! While muscle mass shrinks away - resulting in worse overall body composition!!! This can’t be my future 🫣 so resistance work has to increase and gotta come off soon!! Zikes !!! Thanks whoever posted this- it’s given me a kick up the behind !!

Finally found this thread! Been troopsing through Mumsnet for weeks!!!! Deleted the app and forgot to post my updates, last updated back in December and I lost my account (why does Mumsnet ban us for no reason?!)

UPDATE: I FINALLY HIT MY GOAL!

Started in October weighing 11 stone 2, I am now coming in at 8 stone (5ft 2) I can't believe it. I do not recognise myself in the mirror whatsoever. I tried a dress on for the first time today that I've had in my wardrobe for 4 years. It fit like a glove, but my god I've gone from a C cup to an A cup and I have nothing but nipples left. Has anyone lost all of their boobage? I look like a child, not only this I've also most my bum... at least I'm no longer obese though! Win some you lose some! Congrats to everyone else on hitting or nearing their target and for the ones that are still going, hang in there! You can do it! I never thought I'd see the light of day x

exhaustedandwholly · 29/03/2025 23:03

Also re hair loss, I've lost so much hair. It was finally the longest it had been in a long time (which took me years) now it's long but thin. Can't win 🫠

I’ve lost boobs and bum too !! I’m 5:2 and started at 11.7 - 8.12 - want to get to 8.8!! Getting down to 8 is amazing and a great weight for our height so well
done 🙌

Well done on getting this far. I’ve also lost my boobs. It wasn’t that big to start with, it was the first to go and that pissed me off a bit 😂 but it meant I made sure I have 3 days a weeks where I’m doing weighted glutes and legs work out because I can’t afford to lose my bum.
This was part of the reasons why I stopped MJ because even though I didn’t mind losing a bit more weight to get to a BMI of 23.5, I can’t guarantee where the weight is going to go from and I was happy with how I looked everywhere besides my belly. So far, I’ve been off for over 6 weeks, stopped at a BMI of 24.8 and at my weigh in yesterday, my BMI was 24.6 and I’ve lost 2 inches from my belly and gained almost an inch in my bum so the toning up is working. I also don’t recognise myself in the mirror since MJ, losing weight has been life changing, I’m enjoying wearing new clothes and all the lifestyle changes I’ve made.
With your glutes, you can start now with building them as well even if you’re maintaining with the jab. Try and hit your protein goals and there are lots of videos you’ll find online to help you with legs and glutes workouts, my favourite currently is the elevated goblet squat as it helps target my core and lower body muscles which I need.

recklessgran · 30/03/2025 07:51

Morning all today is my weigh and jab day and I'm pleased to report a 3lb loss after my spectacular fall from grace following my recent holiday. A little milestone for me is that at long last I'm in the 13's.
S.W. 15st 7lbs
C.W. 13st 13.5lbs
I've lost less than a pound a week on average since I started 23 weeks ago on 18th October. I'm sort of O.K. with the slowness because I have a medicated underactive thyroid and at least I'm still managing to keep going in the right direction despite my MJ lightweight status. Currently on 4mgs due to my extreme reaction and unbearable side effects on higher doses.I have reasonable suppression at this dose with no side effects.. I'll stay on 4mgs until I stall again at which point I'll try 4.25mgs. Nobody has noticed my weight loss yet and apart from DH I haven't shared that I'm on MJ with anybody. I think I'm starting to think about dumpimg my 18's and moving down solidly to my size 16 clothes. I've also noticed that my hair is thinner but not too concerned at the moment. I have a long bob with lots of fine hair so I think I still look O.K. and I doubt it's noticeable. Not sure what I should do about it. Shoulld I be taking collagen like some of you are or is it too late for that? If so, any recommendations?

letshavetea · 30/03/2025 08:10

Hello everyone, I’m back from my holiday. Delighted to read everyone’s successes. @recklessgran - well done! I’ve stayed the same after my fab holiday, which I’m pleased with. Being a slow loser (hypothyroid) and having had some side effects (nausea, burps, indigestion constipation) I’ve been cautious about doses. I’m currently on 5mg with a 7.5 mg pen in the fridge. I can either extract 5mg tonight or go up very gradually (I did this over a few weeks when I went up to 5mg). If I go up slowly I’ve just got to find a click chart! Suppression has waned slightly now.

I’ve only lost a stone in six months, but I’m delighted with having lost that (and kept it off). Next target is to lose 10 lbs which will take me to 11 stone and a healthy bmi (25).

Height 5 foot 6
SW 12 stone 12
CW 11 stone 10
GW (interim) 11 stone (then decide what to do)

In the same boat here, worrying about the new fat cells I probably now have just waiting for an opportunity to fill up! My BMI is now 25.1, (down from 35) just have the belly fat left to lose so I think it is time to start coming back down the doses and stop, it will take me about 4 months which should be enough time to maintain a healthy weight and find my new tdee and how much I can eat without gaining. I'm hoping that the fat will continue to go slowly with the new better eating habits and continued toning and exercise. The thought of slipping back into bad habits scares me.

igivein · 30/03/2025 10:13

Morning all!

First of all, just been catching up on the thread and can’t believe no-one’s noticed @TheOtherSide21 ‘s amazing almost 7 stone loss!!!!! Well done you!!

@recklessgran I told you you’d be straight back in the saddle - well done!

Weigh-in day for me:

SW: 20st 2lb
CW: 15st 2lb

So that’s 5 stone down 🥳🥳🥳

Next week will be six months on MJ for me and the week after is my birthday. I’d really like to be in the 14 stone range for my birthday, but if not then, definitely by the time I go on holiday towards the end of April.
Not sure how this week’s going to go though - DS has just presented me with 2000 calories-worth (yes I checked the nutritional info - how sad have I become) of dark chocolate truffles for Mother’s Day. He picked them specially as I love them and no-one else in the house likes them, so I’ll get to eat all of them…
Perhaps this is where I start trying to learn to pace myself rather than scarfing down the lot in one sitting 🤔

NoisyMintCrab · 30/03/2025 14:57

Could anyone share what the GLP and making new fat cells thing is please? What is this new horror?!

EVK · 30/03/2025 19:04
hopefully this is it - I copied from previous page. @CountingSleepySheep sounds like a good plan - I’m going to be doing a similar thing regardless of how much more I do/don’t lose.

Vegemite123 · 30/03/2025 21:20

Hello everyone! It's been an aaaaage since I last commented. I'm now at a 21kg loss (that's nearly 3.5 stone), which was 24% of my bodyweight. And my BMI is now 24.2. So, I'm dead pleased! And and AND - I just crossed my legs, and discovered that I can tuck one foot behind the other calf. I've never EVER done that in my life! Feels like an epic NSV.

Some people are starting to notice, and I don't love the comments but can explain it away if they ask (I'm a secret jabber). It's partly that the thick coat is now coming off from time to time.

I'm below my goal weight, and the lowest weight I've ever been since my early teens. I've reduced my dose a smidge to 4mg (I did 4 weeks on 5mg) and have switched my nutracheck settings to "maintenance" although I try to keep approximately 250 calories under a day. I'm going to try to get fitter (I already do loads of walking, but want to start running again) so plan to maintain my weight whilst building muscle. Though I wouldn't mind losing a few more kgs - I'm still a bit wobbly.

As I've always struggled with my weight, I'm thinking that I'll be on these drugs for some time (for ever?) as I feel my weight issues are chronic. I went through a phase of hating the injections (they hurt!) but now try to do some positive talking and say "I'm so fortunate" and "these are working so well" and "I'm glad I'm using this medication" whilst injecting. Sounds a bit weird, but it helps me.

One problem I'm finding is that even my "skinny" clothes from years ago are now too large. I'm currently seeking smaller versions of what I already have on eBay and vinted, as I can't afford to go shopping for new everything.

WRT the "more fat cells" concern ... I was doing some reading about mounjaro and lipoedema (I suspect I have a degree of this condition) and found this article which talks about the new fat cells being helpful, as they aren't diseased and function better. It's about 2/3 the way down this article. Of course, this is particularly talking about mounjaro and lipoedema, but I think it's talking about fat generally, as well. legslikemine.com/2023/11/09/tirzepatide-aka-mounjaro-approved-for-weight-loss-under-name-zepbound-what-are-your-thoughts/

EVK · 30/03/2025 22:02

@Vegemite123 congratulations on your fab successes and NSV’s - article sounds interesting and I’ll definitely give that a read. 👍

TheChosenTwo · 30/03/2025 22:06

I found myself getting very cross the other day as I’d been hanging on to my favourite sweaty betty leggings for far too long, they were so saggy around the things and knees but they cost £88 a pair and I was loathe to buy new ones until there was a sale (of course it’s rarely the plain black ones on sale but the horrible gaudy patterned ones 😭)
and the dc bought (supplemented almost entirely by dh I have no doubt!) me a couple of new pairs for Mother’s Day. So grateful! I can afford them for myself but was feeling rageful about spending so much money on essentially bloody leggings!!
i’m passing my old faithfuls on to my sister so they’re not going to waste but it’s irked me that it costs so much to replace them. No regrets about MJ obviously, best thing I’ve ever spent money on!!

Clever children!! I’m going to try to remember this for next year. Mind you, I’m a fan of the gaudy leggings myself (I’m currently wearing a BAM pair) so I might have better luck on the sale.

Morning all
W23D1
SW 17'10
CW 15'5

My second week of gaining weight this week, after my blip 2 weeks ago. 3 pounds on instead of a loss.

Its been a rough week food wise, had barely any suppression and been a complete pig, topped off with one of the DC's birthday yesterday so we had a party with plenty of food and drink etc, and I had little control 😬

However, i did some trying on of clothes, I have not worn for a couple of years, since my loss with SW and I have a good few outfits that range from being "fit but snug, would be better with another half a stone off" to "excellent, new clothes!" so this will spur me on this week I think.

Good luck everyone and keep going!
