@Gilly1C Thank you for sharing your experience of 12.5mg, I’m due to have my first 12.5 dose this week and am feeling quite apprehensive, don’t know why it just seems like a massive step. Please let us know how you get on with your next pen.

I am actually OK now, took my first shot from my 2nd pen on Saturday and so far so good. I will be honest the worst thing I did was extracting 0.8 5th dose from that first pen, it was way too much for me. Keep us posted how you get on

HansHolbein · 24/03/2025 22:18

@Mincepieinthesky I am so sorry to read about your dad. I won’t ask how you are. I can’t imagine how you must feel. I am thinking of you and your family 🥰

On a positive note, 5 fucking stone! Wowee. Just incredible. Relieved you feel the same… a chore is the right way to describe it.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 4lbs! Amazing! Ideal home show sounds so much fun. Did you see anything you liked?

@Fizzleawayyy1 I found the stupid chocolate. I did taste a bit and it was like chocolatey shredded wheat?! Very weird.

On a side note.. I’m going to take a little break from Mumsnet. I’ll be back! Just need to focus on some stuff. Lots of love to all xxx

Enjoy the break @HansHolbein it’s good to step away sometimes and refocus.

Morning all.
Hope all ok @HansHolbein you will be missed while you are absent💕

Fourth week of maintenance after 37lb weight loss
SW 12st 2lb
GW 9st 7lb
CW 9st 6.7lb (not much difference to other maintenance weeks)
Weight training and stretching twice this week and 3 mile walks with dog 6 out of 7 days.
Took 5mg this week with eventual aim to reduce my dose as much as possible.

Have had a bit of an iffy week eating wise. Have been eating rice/ pasta / bread as got quite complacent as at goal, however I know from past experience it makes me crave chocolate etc. I have had 3 creme eggs over last couple of days and crisps, so need to pack that in. Been fortunate as not reflected on the scales.

Going to start eating a healthier low carb diet and stop ultra processed food again, it is frightening how easy to revert back to old habits.

Was listening to a scientist on a podcast where he supported GLP-1 use but wasn’t as enthusiastic as others and thinks the aim should be to get off them if possible by following low carb strategy, intermittent fasting and strength training exercise. He says although calories matter main thing is keeping insulin levels low to support fat burning.
He also suggests only ever taking the lowest effective dose. He said in USA 50% of people have come off them at 1 year and 70% of people come off them within 2 years which I was really surprised at.

I will be my own guinea pig to see if reducing carbs helps with my cravings etc. Worth listening to for an alternative view especially for those wanting to get off eventually.

I still have chocolate every day nearly... I just have it within my calories and a small bar like a Fredo and not a big bar.

I'm surprised that 50% of Americans come off it within a year, everything I see online leads me to believe that they stay on it long term unless their insurance stops paying and then they may switch to a compound version. Very interesting.

Going to meet a friend for a coffee now, will resist the cake! Egg salad for dinner tonight to use up bits in the fridge.

How's everyone else's week going?

Fizzleawayyy1 · 26/03/2025 09:57

We are saving a fortune on food still too! I rarely take the kids to the shop for sweets anymore and our food bill is around £80 a week in Aldi for us 4! Mostly meat and veg with a few pack lunch pieces. I didn't realise how much junk I was buying on the shop before that just wasn't needed and no ones missed it!

icantgetnosheep1 · 26/03/2025 10:42

Good morning all, I’m having a break this week as I have surgery booked in for next week. I have to say I’m surprised I still have no desire to eat anything like what I’d previously done before MJ. I’m conscious about what goes in and seemingly unfazed about food still. I had imagined I’d be stuffing my face by now! 😆 presumably my brain is now conditioned to not snack like there is no tomorrow.. hooray for that.

Tohaveandtohold · 26/03/2025 13:02

@Bluenose1966 , that’s an interesting podcast. For me, I’ve not completely cut out carbs because I need it for muscle building, I’ve just reduced the amount I eat and I eat the cleaner carbs. So far, I’m maintaining nicely off the jab without having to put so much effort into it.
I can understand why most Americans will come off the jab because it cost a lot over there and insurance companies won’t cover paying for it indefinitely surely.
However I’m seeing some people on tiktok who are trying to maintain with the Jab but they are having to increase their doses, etc because the lower dose wasn’t effective as they thought it would, etc
I guess over the long term, everyone will workout how best to maintain as more people might need lifestyle changes even if maintaining with the Jab.

Medicine market place are out of stock of my next pen 😱. Hoping that it’s a temp issue, I’m not in a big rush for it yet, thanks to bonus doses!

ChimneyRock · 26/03/2025 18:07

@lickycat Which mg pen is that? I read something a few weeks back about shortages but can't remember which ones. Was it 12.5??

It seems to be all these companies who are out of these doses... all 12.5 and 15mg pens. I just ordered a 15mg pen from pharmacy 2 U while they still got them in stock as worried they will be out for a while!

I read a couple of weeks ago someone couldn't get 15mg on MMP but it seems other places are having trouble getting stock now.

Good luck for your surgery coming up! Glad you still have no desire to eat!

I just had a huge egg salad for my lunch (and breakfast combined) to keep me going today. Need to work out the calories when I have a minute but it was mostly iceberg.

Eek 11st 9lbs on the scale this morning, this is excellent for me. I'm now 21kg down from my heaviest. The 20kg dumbell at the gym is a very heavy one so I'm in shock that was carrying that around.

flowerlady2 · 28/03/2025 23:52

Can I just check in to see if anyone else is experiencing thinning hair? I have pretty thick hair so it’s not really an issue but I’m taking Perfectil hair supplement trying to keep protein high - but I’m definitely losing some hair. I think it may be age/hormone related as I’m early 50’s but is anyone else experiencing this? Any tips?

Omg I thought it was just me - I’m losing a lot of hair at the moment. Not sure how to fix it 😞

Mysticmaiden · 29/03/2025 00:11

Yes been losing hair pretty much constantly for last few months. Trying to up my protein with shakes to see if that helps. I'm not a fast loser either just 1lb a week but I definitely don't eat upto my deficit and rarely have from start so I don't know whether it's a calorie or protein thing. I do take collagen and biotin
