@Lillipops bloody brilliant!! That is my secret goal (not so secret anymore!) before my upcoming 61st birthday : 60 @ 60!! It's going to be very, very tight, especially with a trip to Spain, but it is still possible. I can always include the six pounds I managed to lose immediately before starting mj if I really need to

@HansHolbein thanks, I might look into those. My UV gel stuff is great but temporary, so I'm aware that I could find it's worn off at any time and the ring hasn't got the extra thickness. Unfortunately, I'm likely to find that out when the ring is suddenly missing tho I do check it is still in place every morning.

I got my sewing machine back from servicing this morning and have just taken in the side seams of the top of a dress!! I'm no sewer but it's an elasticated bodice so pretty forgiving. The top part now fits well, tho the skirt could maybe be seen as a bit loose - but of course it can't be as the top plainly fits, it must just be the style of it!! I'm really pleased with myself. Even better, I have three others the same style so I know I can alter them, too. So that's four summer dresses I was wearing last summer back in the equation. I also had a go at the seams of a shift dress, I've taken off about 3cm on each of the front and back sides so that's 12cm in total. It's pretty good apart from the where the darts are so I'm going to have to try to do something there, just not sure what exactly...

littleburn · 21/03/2025 19:19

@CarridoesntlivehereanymoreI’m getting a sewing machine tomorrow! I’ve never used one before, but I’ve watched some YouTube videos on taking in clothes and am going to give it a go, starting with some simple linen skirts. I may have have total misplaced confidence in my ability to do this 😁 but definitely need to balance buying new with adapting some of the things I have.

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 21/03/2025 20:30

@littleburn Good luck with the new machine!

I've never taken anything in before using a sewing machine! I can just about sew with it but the intricacies of the machine flummox me... I need to finish off the seams of the dress I took in - the extra is lying surprisingly flat so I'm thinking I might just trim off the original top of the seam under the arms which is quite bulky and down a little bit, then I can just hand oversew a few centimeters of seam. I'm pretty sure I have a lot of misplaced confidence in my ability to alter clothes but I've got nothing to lose since I couldn't wear them anyway. I'm working up to somehow chunking at least 4" - 6" out of the back of a lined broderie anglaise skirt but that'll be after I do something about the dart re-arrangement on the shift dress

Fizzleawayyy1 · 22/03/2025 08:27

@ChaosDream How are you feeling now?

@EVK at least you have been going to the gym, my workplace pay for our gym membership and I haven't been once since I started MJ! I realllllly should start going. Maybe after my holiday in April Il start it.

@HansHolbein My eternity ring is to big, Iv had to remove it, I don't know if I will get it resized or not. My engagement & Wedding ring still fit fine though.

Weigh day for me and I lost 3lbs!.... 2 more lbs and I will be at 4 stone off!! so that's the aim this week.

I also went into a new stone category. I started at 16st 11lbs and I'm now 12st 13lbs.

Funny thing is... not a single person has commented on it... not even a women I hadn't seen since sept last year 🤔

EVK · 22/03/2025 08:32

Wow @Lillipops amazing - you must be feeling great. It’s so fantastic to hear the positivity and successes - this summer is gin f to feel very different for us all. Love the sewing machine approach to overcoming the big clothes problem! Creativity abounds. I have a sewing machine - so may have to get it out and dust it off! I can do simple up and down seems on fabric that isn’t too delicate/stretch but darts and more complex things I’m out! Like you said @Carridoesntlivehereanymore you’ve got nothing to lose by having a try.
Weigh in for me today and I’ve managed to lose 1/2 a pound from 8.11 to 8.10 1/2 - I’m pleased because it looked like I might have put one on earlier in the week. I’m still inching towards my goal. Maybe 3lbs to go!! I have two 5mg pens left and might order a 2.5mg for the next one. If I can’t lose 3lbs in the next 10weeks then !!! Exciting - I feel so happy, I haven’t been this weight since I was 30 something and here I am at 56!

Happy weekend everyone.
Hope our maintenance friends are doing well - would love to hear how you’re getting on.

With 4 stone off, it will be obvious to everyone! I just don’t think people think it’s polite to mention weight loss now, unless you know them quite well, because it could be for reasons such as illness and grief. I’ve only had 2 people mention it to me, close- ish friends. One just said “you’re looking well????” With a raise of the eyebrows, clearly not wanting to say the words I’d lost weight. But you’ve done an amazing job and you must look and feel so much better for it.

Mrsmajeeka · 22/03/2025 10:04

Wow amazing for everyone still sticking to it. Love reading about all the progress. I haven’t posted for a while as I’d stalled for a few weeks and felt myself slipping but another 1lb came off this morning and then I cheered myself up by finding an old note of measurements which I didn’t think I’d taken as I was so ashamed of how big I’d got and took my measurements this morning and wow 9” off my waist, 7” off my hips, 6” off my bum (which is surprising because it’s pretty much disappeared 😂), 4” off chest measurements. It’s amazing. I’ve had my first, but you’re not going to lose anymore are you. I’m still 3lb off healthy BMI and still have a bit of a mum tum so I’m going to work on that. My target is 10st7lb which was my pre wedding weight so another 1st1lb to get there. It’s definitely slowing down. I’ve only ever stayed on 2.5mg because of illness when I went higher. But hopefully only another month or two and I’ll come off it. Well done everyone 🤩

icantgetnosheep1 · 22/03/2025 17:59

Well done @EVKa loss is a loss 🙅‍♀️ we are so close to the finish line - I love it! Like you I haven’t been this weight for a while (got to 8.4 back in 2016) managed to maintain that until lockdown then.. well.. we all know how that went lol. Cheeky little weight in yesterday and I was 8.8 🫣 so close..!

recklessgran · 22/03/2025 19:12

Oooh well done everyone I love reading about all these big successes. I've come here to sit on the naughty step! I've been terrible this week for some reason. I can't seem to get my act together since returning from my week AI in Gran Canaria last Sunday. Today is my worst behaviour since I started MJ in October. I've eaten TWO crusty rolls spread with thick butter containing two large chipolatas each and then ate a kit-kat and a bag of wotsits. What the hell am I playing at? I think it's time to give myself a talking to and tie myself back on the wagon. Scary thing is I'm not even that bothered - well not like I would have been on a "normal" diet. I guess I just know another dose increase will probably see me right and I can make a fresh start tomorrow on my weigh and jab day. Has anyone else experienced this? I just hope it's not the start of a total fall from grace and top of the range self sabotage that's all. Hope you're all having a great weekend. Happy Saturday! I'm skipping dinner and parking myself and my knitting on the sofa out of harm's way as far away from the kitchen as I can get.

igivein · 23/03/2025 07:35

@recklessgran I had a whole weekend like that last weekend whilst I was away with my son. Completely threw caution to the winds and put 2.5 pounds on.
On a ‘normal’ diet that would have been the end of the diet, I’d fall off the wagon and the next thing I knew I’d be three stone heavier again.
I was the same as you last weekend in that I wasn’t bothered either, I just thought ‘oh well, back on it next week and it’ll come off again’ - and it has!
I think this might actually be a good effect of MJ, the ability to climb back on the wagon and keep moving, rather than self-sabotaging and wasting all the good work.

So, stats for this week:

SW: 20st 2lbs
CW: 15st 4lbs

Loss this week 3lbs (so what I put on whilst away plus a little bit more 😊)

I’m tantalisingly close to a 5 stone loss and I hope to hit that next week. Then next target is I’m going on holiday in 4 weeks and I want to be into the 14s (stones, not dress size - I wish!!) by then -should be achievable barring plateaus.

Gilly1C · 23/03/2025 11:18

Hi all, I saw someone post about 12.5mg and wanted to share my experience. I have moved up doses each month and believe it or not I have not experienced any side effects to speak of the whole time (feeling colder than normal was all) 5 weeks ago I took my first 12.5 and that first week I just felt odd, like not with it and felt dizzy and queasy. I continued with it but also noticed I started to feel a bit low in mood also. The worst thing I did and regret it so much was extracting the 5th out of that pen (I have done this with all pens) as I got 0.8 out of it, it was too much and oh my lord that last week I thought I was going crazy mentally and just felt horrendous. I naively thought it could not be connected and ordered the same dose again (silly I know) so took my first jab yesterday and hoping I don't experience the same. If I do I am going to count clicks next week and then move down. Has anyone else experienced a change in mood at all?

Witchlite · 23/03/2025 11:52

Hello, I just wanted to post a bit of a warning, especially for people who might be feeling a bit tired or dizzy. I’ve been taking Mounjaro since October and have lost over 3 stone - brilliant! My Diabetes has gone into remission- great. My blood pressure went into lowest level in the healthy zone, but was still being medicated. I had planned with my GP to bring the dose down when I hit my goal weight.

I passed out while on a walk last week and was taken to A+E. My blood pressure was so low that I lost consciousness and it took a couple of days for me to be discharged. I have lost just under 25% of my body weight and as being overweight is such a key part of the need for blood pressure control, it is disproportionately affected. I knew my blood pressure was coming down, but thought (as did GP) there was time to reduce it later.

So the warning? If you are on blood pressure tablets and have lost 20%+ of your starting weight, get a monitor and check yourself a couple of times a week.

I’m fine now (have completely stopped 1 tablet and reduced another) but it was a bit of a shock and I’m so glad I wasn’t driving.

i had a chat with my GP yesterday (on a Saturday 😮) and she is pulling all the patients who are loosing lots on weight loss drugs in for more frequent checks for long term blood pressure medication - it was always annually once stable.

Caffeineneedednow · 23/03/2025 13:11

@witchlite oh no glad you have recovered but that sounds scarry.

So good to hear your GP is on it regarding their other patients.

Yes I get really bad mood swings, hangry, feel faint and start to shake when my dose wears off due to having insulin resistance for probably over a decade, which is being controlled well with 10mg so far. On the lower doses it was more apparent due to wearing off quickly. I hope it reverses itself for the long run otherwise I won't be able to come off it fully. Currently bmi 27.7 11st 2lbs started 2nd October. I watch this group regularly but rarely post. Well done to everyone so far with their hard work and so glad to see some at or very close to maintenance ❤️

Witchlite · 23/03/2025 13:48

Thanks @Caffeineneedednow, my GP is very good. The problem is (as I understand it) weight loss drugs being prescribed on the NHS are being dealt with by a specialist team/clinic, who are monitoring this sort of thing. The GPs are a bit behind the curve in building up knowledge. Where the weight loss drug is being prescribed by a private pharmacy and the rest of the medication is prescribed by an NHS GP, there is a mismatch and things are being picked up (and reacted to) in retrospect.

My early call in to my diabetic check, earlier this year, was brought forward by 3 months following a problem with one person’s sugar levels falling dangerously low, as they were on weight loss drugs and Metformin. It is ok to take both, but you need to be careful of it overworking.

She said she wishes that the NHS had the ability to issue private prescriptions for things like this, but it’s not just the cost of the prescription - it’s the GPs capacity to deal with them. However, they do (and should) be monitoring drugs they provide, despite changing circumstances.

She is a very lovely and hardworking GP (hence catching up on Saturdays) but the practice is a lot busier than it was 10 years ago. She absolutely supports and approves me taking Mounjaro, she just can’t prescribe it.

HansHolbein · 23/03/2025 22:34

@lapuf I've had this comment over the weekend! 'Don't lose anymore, Hans!'. I think it's cause they are used to seeing me look like Mr Blobby. My BMI is still in the overweight category so I do still need to lose some more. Hope you're feeling better. There's so much around; we've had loads of it on this thread!

@Maarva I'm with Cloud for maintenance. Had 2 pens from them so far and all good. They have agreed to get to me to BMI 21 and then long term maintenance after that.

@Lillipops Me too! No point faffing around with re-sizing until then. Once I've resized it, it better stay that way! 60lbs is nuts! Amazing. SO happy for you.

@Carridoesntlivehereanymore Lovely that you got the machine out and wonderful NSV.

@Fizzleawayyy1 3lbs, woo and a new bracket! Annoying that nobody has said anything. Do you feel it in yourself?

@EVK Oh my! Not long for you now. You must feel so amazing. What this drug has done is incredible. Every damn day I am grateful. It's changed our lives. It's liberating being able to put on whatever I want and go about my day, finally fitting in and not hiding. Powerful stuff.

@Mrsmajeeka Lovely update from you and you are doing so well. Happy for you.

@recklessgran Gran, get off that naughty step! It's life, it happens. We all have days that go a bit awry. Dust yourself off and get back on it tomorrow. Maybe it's a sign that it's time to move up the dose a bit? @igivein it totally right and we've all said it before. Pre MJ, one day would turn into 3 months and 2 stone. With MJ we can write off a bad day and get back on it. It doesn't feel all or nothing anymore.

@igivein Your stats are nuts! In a good way. Life changing for you. You are going to feel amazing on your holiday.

@Gilly1C Thanks so much for your advice about 12.5. I have only felt my mood and mental health improve since October. However, at Christmas I injected a day or two early and I felt quite bad for that week. Spaced out and very flat. Maybe I had too much in my system. That's the only time I noticed a dip.

@Witchlite Thank you very much for this important warning. I will admit that I do often feel a bit lightheaded when getting up off the floor or the sofa (if I have been there too long!). I'm going to get my BP machine out and check. Thanks again.

@Bluenose1966 How are you?

@Losingthetimber Are you ok? Not seen you in ages.

@mincepieinthesky I haven't forgotten about you, either. Hope you are ok.

No real news from me. Have enjoyed the nice weather. The weekend goes very quickly doesn't it?

It's my daughters birthday next week and she wants some Dubai chocolate bollocks that I will have to go out and hunt for tomorrow. It sounds like the latest fad! First it was a bloody Stanley cup (I think you could actually murder someone with one of those? Might use it if we ever have an intruder?), then it was some elephant skin care thing... oh gosh and before that it was blue juice they all wanted... deary me.

Anyway, one thing I did want to ask you all was how are you feeling towards food? Since I started I haven't really cared about food and have just been eating because that is what I must do to stay healthy. As time has progressed I have got more and more disinterested in food. Everything is giving me the ick and nothing is taking my fancy. I look at it and I can't be arsed. Everything is boring.

Can anyone relate?

Sorry about all that word salad!

OP posts:
TheChosenTwo · 23/03/2025 22:47

Wow @Witchlite that’s a cautionary tale and a half, glad you’re feeling better now.
I’ve had quite a few dizzy spells over the last week or so, when I stand up. Takes about 5 seconds for it to clear. I’ve been eating enough (well, pretty much the same as I have been since I started at the end of October but have lost a quarter of my body weight) and staying hydrated but I think I’ll check my bloody pressure in the morning. I’m not on any other medication but it’s something I might keep an eye on.

TheChosenTwo · 23/03/2025 22:51

I wonder if I’ve got low electrolytes- how would I know? And if so, anyone got any recommendations for electrolytes that are tasteless?!

coastergirl · 24/03/2025 00:49

I've also struggled on 12.5 having been fine all the way through. Nausea, drowsiness, not wanting to eat at all which then leads to dizziness. I took the bonus dose last night and spent most of today in a deep sleep having very intense dreams. I'm going to try going back down to 10.

Mincepieinthesky · 24/03/2025 07:02

@HansHolbein hello lovely Hans, thank you for always thinking of me ☺️ I disappeared for a while as my dad died and life was just full on. Still on 2.5 and 5 stone down, though have been in a plateau for a few weeks now but have still been good for the most part.
Definitely understand how you feel re growing disinterest in food, before I used to get joy from food (too much admittedly!) now it is ‘just’ for nutrition. I make sure I hit my protein and fibre targets but does feel like a bit of a chore sometimes.
My daughter went to a party last week and the ‘cake’ was Dubai chocolate, can’t keep up with the trends 😂

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 24/03/2025 09:05

Morning all
W22D1
SW 17'10
CW 15'2

A nice 4 pound loss for me this week, after my 1 pound on last week. Walking 7 miles around the Ideal Home show yesterday might have helped, especially as I had a bit of a snack binge when I got home afterwards!

One more week of 1010m to go, then on to 12.5mg. Still no significant side effects yet, the odd bout of nausea here and there but nothing to write home about!

Well done on the losses and keep going everyone!

Fizzleawayyy1 · 24/03/2025 09:41

@lickycat Thanks, I defo look better... I tried on some dresses for a work event last sept and sent them to my friend asking her opinion and I came across them yesterday! OMG..... I didn't realise how fat I looked in these dresses!! I remember thinking one of them didn't look too bad and Jesus Christ that is the worst one of them all!!! I would share on here but the background is a mess as the lighting is better in my daughters room and the room looks a mess 😂

@Mrsmajeeka Wow you have lost loads of inchs, I think I took mine, I haven't measured since so I may do that today too!

@recklessgran I was like a couple of weeks ago, I ate crap for about 2-3days before I managed to pull myself together!! I had to go up a dose and keep myself busy for a couple of days but when I seen the weight come off again, it spurred me on.
Horrible though how easy it was to slip into such bad habits so quickly!

@igivein I agree, I think one of the best side effects or thing on MJ is the fact I found it 100x easier to get back to being good after Id been naughty, before I would of binged for 2 weeks easy and undone loads of work!

@Witchlite I hope you are feeling better now, how scary!!

@Gilly1C I haven't experienced anything connected to my mood but I haven't gone up that high yet, maybe coming back down to 10mg will help? I have read on here and other places that It can effect your mood and can make people feel down.

@TheChosenTwo I get dizzy a fair amount when I go from sitting to standing quickly but I'm not on any medication. The only electrolytes I take are a kiwi and strawberry flavoured one, never seen tasteless ones.

@Mincepieinthesky Sorry to hear about your dad.

@HansHolbein I bought my daughter the Dubai chocolate to try, I thought it was gross, it ended up in the bin ha ha. She also has Drunk elephant skin care. I'm lucky she's never asked for a Stanley cup although we have the knock off ones from home bargains here.
Most days I don't fancy food but on the odd occasion something still catches my fancy! The other day it was a salad and the time before it was sushi so not terrible at all.
My sweet tooth has massively reduced but not disappeared!!

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 4lbs is amazing!!

For myself... I survived my husbands Aunties but she did so much food, plus pudding!! AND she picked me up a couple of fruit ciders! which I like but I don't drink while on a diet as they are loaded with calories!! So I had the 2 bottles of fruit cider she got me and the buffet food. I was so so so full all night. I didn't eat anything else and I haven't eaten anything today either...
Its a lovely thing she does but not while I'm on a diet please ha ha

Is anyone else just exhausted all the time?? I honestly feel knackered all the time at the moment, falling asleep on the sofa every single night which I never did before and work/life is no harder then before MJ. I'm debating asking the GP to redo my bloods for my Iron/Folate levels again as I get a B12 shot every 3 months but I think I need it closer together to be honest. I'm also freezing all the time but I know that's 100% a side effect.

Nothing else to report here. Plodding along, wishing away this week as I go on holiday next week!

TheChosenTwo · 24/03/2025 10:10

Thanks @Fizzleawayyy1 - I’m going to look into the electrolytes stuff today, I only drink water and can’t stand the taste of artificial flavourings so might see which foods I can eat which may contain electrolytes! I do like salt but rarely add it to any food these days, maybe that’s what’s contributing to the dizziness. Might do myself some tuna mayo today cos I like that to be salty. Also have some salt and pepper cashews in the cupboard so could have a few of those after lunch.

I always add salt to my food and I cant drink water on its own to save my life... squash, fizzy or tea here!

@Gilly1C Thank you for sharing your experience of 12.5mg, I’m due to have my first 12.5 dose this week and am feeling quite apprehensive, don’t know why it just seems like a massive step. Please let us know how you get on with your next pen.
