Morning all, sorry for dipping in and out. Hope you are all doing well.

so today was weigh in day for me and stats are now after 19 weeks;

SW 15.6
CW 12.8
GW 11.0

im now a weight on the scale I’ve not seen for 10 years +
also currently on 7.5mg (2nd pen of this) but feel like I have absolutely no suppression etc. so working mainly on calorie deficit and will power. Have ordered a 10mg pen and have 3 doses left of this one but I’ve discussed it with my provider and going to draw 0.8ml from an insulin pen instead to top up to 10mg from tonight when I take my next dose.

icantgetnosheep1 · 18/03/2025 09:19

Morning all, lovely to see so many amazing results this week.

Stats at week 20:

SW: 11.13
CW: 8.9 (STS)
GW: 8.7-8.10

I’m officially at goal weight but would like to see 8.7 on the scales to give me some breathing space. Still on 7.5mg which I find works well but conscious I need to decrease this dose if I can. I feel confident my eating habits have now changed and I’m counting what goes in using MFP keeping to a calorie deficit and trying to drink more water! I’ve got to the point of needing to change my clothes size, the 12’s are far too big so I’m treating myself to a capsule wardrobe this month. My knee surgery is also going ahead at the very end of this month so I’ll be skipping a dose after this week to flush the system out ☺️

I was so apprehensive about starting at the beginning of this journey, I actually left the first pen in the fridge almost a month before I took the plunge! It’s been nothing short of a miracle for me, I’d resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to shift the weight at the ripe old age of 52 going through the menopause and here I am 5 months on feeling fitter and thinner than I’ve been in 10 years. I’m going to keep posting here and checking in, it’s been such an amazing group and such a huge support.

Summer is now something I can look forward to as I won’t need to hide away! I can’t wait 🥰

Happy Tuesday to you all x

Fizzleawayyy1 · 18/03/2025 09:21

@Bluenose1966 That is such a positive way to look at it and I should be thinking that way instead of being disappointed. Thanks for the info on the podcast, I will have to have a listen!

@LumionaMoonsplash Well done on your 1lb loss!

@HappyNewt I bet your friend will notice! such a nice feeling when others can see it too.

@recklessgran I hope you had a lovely time in GC!! Glad you didn't gain 100st on holiday and it was only a lb ha ha

@Missreginafalange Its tough when the suppression isn't there... The 0.8ml on a needle sounds like a good idea. I go up with every pen and that way I can take a lower dose from the pen instead of needing to take more... Just in case.

I am joining you on the rotten cold front @HansHolbein !! I felt horrible all weekend, tired, constantly sneezing and watery eyes... I'm starting to feel a bit better now, had yesterday off work but I'm WFH today. The whole family has it!! I'm normally very lucky and don't get many cold, maybe one every other year but I defo got this one!

I did a order on shein for some cheap holiday clothing, wanted some nice bits but didn't want to pay a lot as hopefully I will be smaller in the next few months and it wont fit properly! (fingers crossed). I did look at vinted but Iv bought stuff from there before and if it doesn't fit right etc then you cant return it so I don't tend to buy anything for myself from there now unless its a specific piece im after.

EVK · 18/03/2025 09:21

@HansHolbein so happy for you - in your size 12 jeans 🙌 you must feel great. @HappyNewt a healthy, sustainable weight where you look and feel good in your clothes sounds like a perfect goal. That’s what going for too. The number in the scales can become an obsession and we are so much more than a number 🩷 Trail running is something I love - unfortunately losing weight has done nothing for improving my running injury so I can only do short distances interspersed with walking but I’m trying to be patient which is hard !
I’ve eaten more and actually had a few drinks over the last couple of days due to two outings! Will be interesting to see how that impacts on my progress. Incredibly small
gains for those of you who’ve
been away on holidays - 1lb is a win I reckon @recklessgran Happy sunny day to you all 🌞

Fizzleawayyy1 · 18/03/2025 09:31

@icantgetnosheep1 Congratulations on being at goal weight!! bet you feel amazing! Good luck for your knee op too. Do you have plans to go down doses and maintain or will you stay at 7.5mg?

@EVK Hope you enjoyed your drinks 🍹

We are seeing my husbands auntie this weekend and She said she will be putting on 'nibbles'..... aka a whole damn buffet lunch! shes also asked my husband what I drink so god knows what she is planning now 😱 Ideally Id rather she didn't do any food/drink as I'm trying to be good and I find it hard to track calorie wise.
But... she makes more effort with us then my husbands parents so I wont be saying anything to anyone or complaining.

femininomenon · 18/03/2025 11:24

The new app has been winding me up so I’ve been avoiding MN since Friday but thought I best check in. Week 23 weigh in and I finally hit 2.5st!!
SW: 17st 4
CW: 14st 11

Also had a great NSV, about 3 years ago I bought a size 20 pair of jeans which I LOVED and after a few months I decided to buy another pair so that when they inevitably wore through between my thighs I would have another pair. Except by this point the 20’s were out of stock so being the optimist I always was decided to get the 18 and I’d lose weight to fit into them (ha). Anyway these jeans ended up being the best I’d had for years and lasted over 2.5 years of weekly wearing/washing although by the end I was comfortably a size 22 so they had obviously stretched with me. I started MJ on 6/10 and my beloved jeans eventually wore through exactly a week later when I was at a big event doing a lot of walking. At this point the 18’s were miles too small so it became a big goal to fit into them….well I got them out on Saturday and you guessed it I got them on! I didn’t wear them as they look too tight still but they did up and I think a few more weeks and they will be perfect Grin

femininomenon · 18/03/2025 11:43

Also thank you for posting that podcast @Bluenose1966I’m going to give it a listen as increased exercise is what I’m hoping will be the answer for me when it comes to maintenance. Hearing that experts are thinking the same is reassuring.

In terms of drinking when trying to loose weight, this may be helpful

Liquid calories
calories in common drinks
DrinkCalories (kcal)

Standard 175ml glass of 12% wine
up to 158kcal

Pint of 5% strength beer
up to 222kcal

50ml glass of 17% cream liqueur
153kcal

Standard 275ml bottle of 4.5% alcopop
154kcal

Large measure (75ml) of 17.5% fortified wine
102kcal

Double measure (50ml) of 40% spirits 100kcal

I understand that of spirits Vodka has the lowest calories.

I therefore drink Vodka with Diet Coke when I am out with friends as a long drink (full can or in a half pint glass if in a pub with plenty of ice)

TheChosenTwo · 18/03/2025 20:48

Just checking in as have been unwell for coming up to 2 weeks now. Dreadful razor blade throat (which has at least calmed down a bit now) and a body which is permanently aching and tired and weary. Haven’t been able to walk or even contemplate any other kind of my regular exercise and I’m missing it but every time I try my body doesn’t comply.
Frustrating but trying to listen to it and just rest.
SW: 16 st
CW: 12 st
GW: ? Maybe another stone off?
Not sure. I’m 5’7, insulin resistant PCOS and took my photos at the weekend and my goodness what a difference. I’ve been exercising throughout and am toned in some areas and less so in others but overall I’m delighted with my progress. Looking much healthier overall. Weight loss is slowing and 2 weeks into 10mg and it’s not having as much of an effect as I thought it was so back to good old fashioned willpower!

@EVK Thanks, I have had to work hard at getting back to running - right back to the beginning again after falling off the running waggon during covid...each time I got it it took longer to get over and I also fractured by ankle twice which took ages to fix.
Starting MJ in Oct was all part of a pretty massive reset attempt and I started back at the beginning of a Couch to 5K in Jan..
Hope you get back to it again if that is what you would like.

Otherwise I hope what I write is helpful to others who 'get stuck' a couple of months in to taking MJ... I really did have about 6 weeks of no change and it has taken quite a while to feel like I am getting there in the same way I did at the start....but that has changed now!

Fizzleawayyy1 · 19/03/2025 16:55

feeling very much back in the zone this week ... very grateful as I still have a couple of stone to shift at least!!

Sushi for dinner here and I just had a caramel fredo with a cup of tea.

What is everyone else having?

Good to hear your back in the zone 🙅‍♀️
I put chicken thighs in the slow cooker with peri peri rub and chorizo earlier today.. we shall have that with rice and salad when we are back from rugby training later. Lunch was tomato and mozzarella salad which is a new favourite of mine. Must drink more water!! 💦 that’s definitely my weakness.

HansHolbein · 17/03/2025 14:43

Hi all, it's been a while!

I'm still trying to shift this very stubborn cold. The cold symptoms have gone but I've been left with this intermittent achey body. Very weird and very annoying.

@ChaosDream Lovely NSV! I might order 12.5 next.. hope things are a bit better now?

@LumionaMoonsplash V annoying about the plateau. I think moving the day is a good idea. I've often done that. Weekends always go a bit awry with eating, don't they?! ETA - glad that pound came off!!!

@igivein Hope you had a wonderful time with your son. Of course! There are NO calories on holiday! ETA - pastries sound delicious. I love a pastry! Glad you had a wonderful time.

I also had that comment from my lovely MIL last week. She said don't lose too much more. She's a lovely person and very innocent, so I know she didn't mean it in a bad way. I think people are just so used to seeing us in a bigger body? I'm happy to go by my BMI... which still says overweight, so I disagree.

@Maarva Really lovely to read your update. So happy for you. Totally understand about the comparing thing. I now feel like I'm 'in that club'; I definitely feel less bad about myself and I am appreciating myself for just being me! There's nothing wrong with any of us.

@Crazydogmumma Oh god yes! My husband got a big bag of my 'fat' summer clothes down from the attic last weekend and I went through them all. Some really lovely fits but completely unwearable now... I just thought, fuck it. I have to commit to this. I've given them to the charity shop. This just has to be my life now.

@lapuf Woo! Whoosh for the win!

@Fizzleawayyy1 Great weigh in! Glad you've managed to git rid of those annoying pounds. I know it was pissing you off!

@NearlyNewHip Lovely, happy for you!

@ChimneyRock Hope that bloody plateau buggers off!

@Bluenose1966 So glad maintenance is treating you well, and some more! Thanks so much for the podcast recommendation. I'll listen whilst I am ironing the bed...

@lickycat Incredible achievement, well done you. Sooo agree with the mental benefits. This drug is worth it for that alone.

@Gilly1C You have done amazingly well! I fell the same about my stomach. It's always the most stubborn part.

@Taxiparent Me too!

@Mounjarocaro Finally being in the healthy BMI range must feel so good. I can't wait for that day. Feels like it will never happen.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Nooooo that is annoying! I did have a week like that a few weeks ago. Think it must have been a hormone thing because I am definitely in a deficit. It went quickly; hope it does for you too.

@EVK So close for you! How exciting! Makes me remember that it IS possible.

Current stats for me...

5'5 33yrs PCOS

SW: 16st 2.7lbs BMI 37.7
CW: 11st 7.1lbs BMI 26.8
TL: 4st 9.6lbs
To go: 2st 7.1lbs
GW: 9st BMI 21

I'm finally wearing size 12 jeans and tops... which I can't really believe. I've been an 18-20 for so many years. The mental relief of just going about my day and not feeling like an outcast is just such a relief. I finally feel like I can fit in. I know I say this all the time but I feel free!

I still can’t get over it. What an incredible loss. You’ve done so well.

EVK · 20/03/2025 07:30

I’m definitely noticing my appetite has increased a bit or I’m more able to eat more! I’ve stayed on 5mgs and my last couple of pounds to target are stubbornly not shifting! I’m taking this as a bit of a learning experience as I will have to manage my appetite as I come off MJ - I guess I don’t mind now if getting to goal takes longer - hope you are all doing well 💕🩷

Would you considering going up a dose to shift the last bit and then taper back down and come off MJ.
Or are you set on coming off MJ ✨

I never drink enough water! I'm all cups of tea. I really should try to drink more.

Your food sounded lovely! No idea what we will have today, everyone is down with a cold and feeling knackered! So it needs to be something easy to cook and something everyone will eat as I cant be bothered to make multi meals tonight!

Tohaveandtohold · 20/03/2025 09:18

@EVK , you might remember from the previous threads that I came off MJ on the 15th of February (BMI was 24.8). I still had around 6lbs to get to my final BMI goal of 23.5. I’ve not been counting calories or anything, just continued with my pattern when I was on MJ and increased what I was eating a bit and just mainly going with the flow but I’m still at BMI of 24.6 because the weight loss has been slow.
I’ve been weight training so it’s like I gain muscle and lose fat so scale movement is slow.
I’m not complaining as the loss was already slow during my last month on MJ because I didn’t up my dose and I’m not really focused on BMI anymore but thinking back, I feel as you’re still on MJ, maybe you should move on to 7.5mg to see if that’ll help you lose the last bit and then taper back down.

JustKeepsBreathing · 20/03/2025 09:23

Checking in after a few weeks away from this thread 👋🏼

Finally titrated myself up to 7.5 mg dose (23rd dose) after counting clicks on the pen for the last 3 weeks - a gradual increase definitely helps reduce side effects.

I finally have a healthy BMI 🥳

Total weight loss is now 3 stone and 7 lbs
SW 15 stone 1 lb
CW 11 stone 8 lbs
GW 10 stone 3 lbs

I’m still quite squidgy and my waist is too big so weight training is a priority right now. But I’m thrilled to have got here! I never thought this would work.

And NSV Finally went shopping for new jeans last week and the assistant looked me up and down and said ‘oh you’re really slim, you need a much smaller size’

Gonna catch up on all the thread news I’ve missed now 😀

HansHolbein · 20/03/2025 10:16

@HappyNewt Lovely update. Your friend will be overjoyed for you!

@recklessgran Funny typo 🤣 Glad you had a wonderful holiday. 1lb will come off easily. I went on a 2 week AI holiday a few years ago and put on 19lbs. Yes, 19lbs…

@Missreginafalange Good to see you! You must be feeling sooo good. Sounds like it’s time for 10mg.

@icantgetnosheep1 Made me a bit teary reading your update. I am so happy for us all. We finally get to live our lives and just be ourselves. 🤞 for a couple more pounds!

@Fizzleawayyy1 Really hope you’re all feeling a bit better? I’m still not right. Good luck with food fest weekend… can you jab today or tomorrow so you’re not as hungry at the weekend?

@EVK Thank you so much 😊

@femininomenon Amazing amazing NSV!

@TheChosenTwo We have very similar stats. Have you noticed any difference with the PCOS? Will you go up to 12.5 next?

@lickycat Thank you. Me neither to be honest. Is this slimmer body really mine now… surely I will wake up tomorrow and be back in my old body again. It’s so nice to be able to buy any clothes that I want instead of the tents and smocks. This weekend ALL of my tents are going in the bin!

@JustKeepsBreathing Healthy BMI! So happy for you. Must be so good to see that. To know that you really are healthy. Love all these NSV!

Is anyone else on 10mg? I’m taking my 8th dose tomorrow. It’s treated me very well. No side effects. Maybe I am a little more hungrier though?

I’m not going for nil by mouth but I think it’s crept up a bit. I’m wary of getting to 15mg as there is nowhere to go after that but if I do 2x months 12.5 and then 2x months 15mg, that should take me to my GW. What’s everyone else doing?

OP posts:
ChaosDream · 20/03/2025 10:43

I think I’m out - at least for a short time 🥺
Since starting on 12.5 I have had the most horrendous diarrhoea, reflux, and abdominal pain despite having zero side effects on previous doses.

I went back to 10mg but the symptoms have continued.

I’ve contacted my provider who suggest a break and to contact them when I return from holiday. Am currently in the Canaries on what is a long awaited holiday with DD and can’t be more than five mins from a toilet.

I’m hopeful I can recommence on a lower dose, the thought of piling on weight again is terrifying me.

sorry for the pity post but I can’t really talk to anyone about it in RL!

Oh no you poor thing! I’ve just ordered my first 12.5mg and it’s been pretty plain sailing with the other doses up to now. I just came on to read about anyone else’s experience of 12.5 and read your comment.
Did the awful side effects start with your first dose of 12.5, or have you had a few doses? And did you do just one 10mg pen before moving up?
It’s good that your provider is giving you advice, maybe going to a lower dose than 10mg and moving up again slowly might work? I can only sympathise, I know the thought of putting weight on is scary but obviously you can’t carry on with those side effects.

Pegsmum · 20/03/2025 11:03

@HansHolbein I have just finished my 10mg pen and ordered a 12.5mg. I just did the one 10mg pen as I was also hungrier, a lot less suppression than previous doses but thankfully zero side effects.
When I started this journey I never for one minute thought I’d get to the higher doses, don’t know why but they scare me! Yet here I am, I hope 12.5 is kind to me!

lickycat · 20/03/2025 11:04

@HansHolbein I’m currently on 10, with 2 doses left in the pen. I’ve got a 12.5 waiting to go. My appetite has increased this last week; I’m wondering if it’s the cold snap after the false spring! My appetite does react to cold weather generally - it wants to go into hibernation mode. I hadn’t thought about the nowhere to go issue of 15 pen. But you’re right, there’s no reason that our bodies won’t ’get used to it’ like with other doses. Im
still sticking with my plan to continue up the doses every pen, but I’m going to be a bit more conscious the next few weeks about better habits. I’ve really not changed very much on MJ so far, I’m embarrassed to say. I just eat less because I don’t have the appetite. But I’ve not made any significant changes in my diet and habits. I really need to address that.
