If your pen is 7.5 and you've got 0.5 out with a syringe, that's 6.25 x A full dose is 0.6 so 7.5/0.6 x 0.5

ChimneyRock · 15/03/2025 11:42

OK, thanks @NearlyNewHip so if I really want 10mg today, what should I top up with? How many clicks from the next new (7.5mg) pen OR, what I could do, is to use dd's 2.5mg pen which she bough a few months ago but has decided against using. I was going to buy it off her when scaling back down but do you think I could use it to top up now?

NearlyNewHip · 15/03/2025 11:50

If you want to top up to 10 it would be an extra 3.75. Out of a 7.5 pen that would be 30 clicks x
I'm quite slap happy but to be honest I don't think I'd use a pen that has been opened after a few months (assuming your daughter used a dose to she if she got on with it) if it's unopened and in date you inject one dose and then another 30 clicks (you need 3.75, so - 2.5 and then another half, 30 clicks, full dose is 60 clicks x x

NearlyNewHip · 15/03/2025 11:52

Going forward if you use both pens, it's an injection of each pen (7.5 + 2.5) to get you to 10 x x x

ChimneyRock · 15/03/2025 11:56

No, it hasn't been opened. It's been in the fridge intact. Expiry date is November 2025.

ChimneyRock · 15/03/2025 11:57

Thanks for the click details. I'm stressing about the maths here in case I cock it up!!

NearlyNewHip · 15/03/2025 12:05

ChimneyRock · 15/03/2025 11:56

No, it hasn't been opened. It's been in the fridge intact. Expiry date is November 2025.

Thought that may be the case have way through writing the reply x Buy it off her and next week will be a lot easier with one full dose out of each pen to get to 10 mg x x x

ChimneyRock · 15/03/2025 13:06

All done. Have just taken an additional 2.5 which, on top of whatever I had from the bonus dose, takes me to somewhere between 7.5 and 10 which is fine for an intermediary thing. Then I'll take the full 10mg (7.5 + 2.5) for the next three weeks. The last dose of my new pen will be whilst I'm away so I'll make do with 7.5 that week and make sure the 10mg pen is here for when I get back.
That's the plan, anyway, assuming no horrible side effects in the meantime - not had any so far so should be OK.
And I will pray that this bloody plateau ends in the meantime. So frustrating.

Third week of maintenance after 37lb weight loss
SW 12st 2lb
GW 9st 7lb
CW 9st 6.4lb (very similar to last week)
Weight training twice this week and 3 mile walks with dog 5 out of 7 days.

I took 5mg last week, after 6.25mg the week before and not sure why but had three days of really bad diarrhoea and for the first time sulphur burps. Trying to titrate down anyway but seriously considering reducing the clicks further and only taking 2.5mg this week as can’t cope with that again.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Glad you have had a good weight loss after gaining last week. I know you said you are disappointed you won’t have lost more weight by your holiday but can you imagine how worse you would feel if you hadn’t lost the 51 lbs. Think most of us have had blips along the way with our motivation, but main thing is the overall trajectory is down.
Next month we will have been on MJ for 6 months so are bound to have our ups and downs in moods as taking this is now the new norm for many of us.
I am happy with my weight loss but not the saggy bum etc I am left with, though would take that any day for the weight loss.

Was listening to a good Podcast the other day from an obesity Professor James Hill who couldn’t say enough good things re the benefits of GLP’1s. When he first started doing research in the 80s he said obesity wasn’t even studied as the prevalence was so low.!!
He reckons to keep the weight off after losing on MJ will be difficult if coming off it for 9 out of 10 people. He said high protein, high fibre, a positive mindset and an hours exercise a day is the best chance, just movement more in general was his advice.

Dr. James Hill—a expert on obesity, metabolism, and long-term weight management—joins me this week to unpack the biggest challenges in sustainable fat loss. Dr. Hill has spent decades researching weight control and the factors that determine whether people can keep weight off long-term. We discuss the science behind energy balance, metabolic flexibility, and why long-term weight loss is about more than just diet and exercise. He shares insights from his groundbreaking work with the National Weight Control Registry, the role of GLP-1 medications, and why physical activity is the key to preventing weight regain.

22nd jab today and I’ve lost 22lb!

sw: 14 13.2
cw: 13 5.2
target: not completely sure, around 11st I was really comfortable in my skin.

I never had a target weight, because I guess I never actually believed that this would work, but I have started to think about one recently. On average I’m losing bang on 1lb a week, so wouldn’t hit my target till November. and I’m ok with that because:

What you’ve mentioned, @Bluenose1966, about how the odds are against us when we stop these injections, is something I’ve thought about for months. I think right from the start I knew I wanted to stay on MJ for as long as possible - forever if I could! Even if I ignore the positives of weight loss, the mental benefits are immense. I feel like I’ve dropped a metaphorical weight off my shoulders. So I’m happy to stay here on this thread till November and I’m hoping that by then there will be some well established maintenance plans available so I don’t have to stop!

LumionaMoonsplash · 15/03/2025 22:11

After a long stall, finally a 1lb loss. Not huge achievement but I'll take it. Down 22lbs since I started MJ and 51lbs down from my highest weight which is something I'm very proud of.

My new jab day of Thurs is much better, helps stop my bad habit of weekend unhealthiness.

Crazydogmumma · 15/03/2025 22:26

Thanks everyone for your messages about the clothes. I have put the bags in my car and will drop them at the clothing bank on my way to work on Monday. This is the new me, for life and I don’t need a back up plan!
onwards and downwards!

Hi everyone I have not posted for a while.
SW 14.6
CW 11.2
GW 10.5
I am currently on 12.5 and think I will stick there. I am so close to getting in the 10's now. I find it fascinating how the weight comes of certain parts of the body and not others. I strength train 3 times a week. My bingo wings have gone, boobs smaller but the biggest thing is my fat face has gone although I hate the fact I now have an obvious wrinkly neck, so probs Botox it is! I am finding it frustrating that I feel my hips and tummy are still big (obvs not as large as before) just does not feel they are shrinking. Anyone else feel the same?

I have found that whilst everywhere has shrunk, I am not losing from my stomach, yet my bum has disappeared. I lost 3lbs this week, I think it has gone from my knees as they were looking slimmer, now they are starting to sag, hopefully my stomach will catch up soon!

lapuf · 16/03/2025 20:54

@Gilly1C definitely never had my bum shrink so much when I’ve lost weight before! Normally I can see my hip bones at this weight too I think. Definitely different.
When I sat on the loo earlier I thought the loo seat was up, as it felt really hard on my seat bones, it wasn’t up, I’ve just lost that padding Blush

Maarva · 16/03/2025 21:00

It is interesting where we’ve lost weight. First to go was from my waist and face, but my post-baby lower stomach is still big and saggy and now out of proportion. I am also taking a while to lose fat on my legs as that’s where I’ve always carried most of my weight. I’ve also got a really wrinkly stomach and bum. Bit disappointing, but still better than being overweight. I am doing lots of weight training to try and build muscle.

Mounjarocaro · 16/03/2025 21:43

I've been following these threads from the beginning but haven't posted before. I'm 7-10 pounds away from my goal and today crept into healthy BMI. I'm 54 and have lost 2 stone 5 pounds since October. I'd managed to lose two stone myself beforehand by low-carbing over the previous 18 months, but I lost a stone initially, stayed the same for months on end, then lost half a stone, plateaued again before another half stone loss.

In my early twenties I managed to lose 4 stone and kept it off until I had children in my early thirties. Although I had always been big, even as a child, my skin just shrank with me back then, and thanks to exercise I lost weight all over. Now, I have a turkey neck, wrinkly stomach, arms and upper inner thighs and the rest of my legs are just awful - I suspect lipoedema (sp?). I hike 4 miles daily and swim twice weekly, so despite exercising my legs a lot, the knees and above are swollen and wobbly. On the upside, I feel a hell of a lot better and fitter than I've been in at least 15 years.

Thank goodness for midi/maxi dresses and trousers!

Well done everyone on the fabulous losses!!

Well, its finally happened, during my 21st week of injecting, I have had my first gain, of an entire pound!

It was my second week at 10mg, and I decided on jab my thigh, to give my bruised stomach a break. I have had barely any suppression and been snack-ish most of the week, and ended with an indian takeaway last night!

I am not too disappointed as I have had a good run, and have ordered my next dose of 12.5 to start in a couple of weeks.

Onwards and upwards everyone!

EVK · 17/03/2025 09:45

Hi everyone,
It seems lots of people are at the ‘hand there and keep going’ stage. I too now have saggy bum, neck and arms! Exercise?! Cosmetic surgery 🤣?!! I dint mind as I’m 56 and feel sooo much better than I’ve felt in many years about my body. I’m as at peace with myself as I think I can be (stay balanced- we can always look at ourselves and want something else!) I’m now almost at goal, weighing between 8.12 - 8.11. I have two pens left so loads of time to knock off the last two lbs! People are constantly telling me not to lose any more! I know at least one friend who’s personally challenged by my weight loss and desperately chasing me down the scales ! It’s a strange feeling being the slimmest in the group and the new issues that seems to bring up. Anyway, just musing ! Hope you all have a great week and keep going 🩷

igivein · 17/03/2025 11:02

I'm a day late weighing in and jabbing because I went to Europe for the weekend to meet up with my son who's backpacking.
I had a fantastic weekend, but we lived on pastries, ice-cream and chips...
So although I've recorded a stay the same I'm actually 2.5 pounds heavier than I was last Thursday. Hoping some of that is water retention from all the carbs (who am I kidding 😂) and it'll fall off again this week. Hard to feel bad about it though as it was so great to see him and we had a fab time.
I've started my first 10mg pen today, but I just took 8.3mg. I know that sounds a weird amount but it's 50 clicks, so a straightforward bridging dose. I didn't want to go straight from 7.5 to 10, especially since I'm jabbing late I thought the amount in my system might well be quite low and I didn't want to take too much and get side effects.

So
SW: 20st 2lb
CW: 15st 07lb

Hoping for a decent loss this week (just discovered there isn't a 'fingers crossed' emoji in the emoji list so 😊will have to do)

HansHolbein · 17/03/2025 14:43

Hi all, it's been a while!

I'm still trying to shift this very stubborn cold. The cold symptoms have gone but I've been left with this intermittent achey body. Very weird and very annoying.

@ChaosDream Lovely NSV! I might order 12.5 next.. hope things are a bit better now?

@LumionaMoonsplash V annoying about the plateau. I think moving the day is a good idea. I've often done that. Weekends always go a bit awry with eating, don't they?! ETA - glad that pound came off!!!

@igivein Hope you had a wonderful time with your son. Of course! There are NO calories on holiday! ETA - pastries sound delicious. I love a pastry! Glad you had a wonderful time.

I also had that comment from my lovely MIL last week. She said don't lose too much more. She's a lovely person and very innocent, so I know she didn't mean it in a bad way. I think people are just so used to seeing us in a bigger body? I'm happy to go by my BMI... which still says overweight, so I disagree.

@Maarva Really lovely to read your update. So happy for you. Totally understand about the comparing thing. I now feel like I'm 'in that club'; I definitely feel less bad about myself and I am appreciating myself for just being me! There's nothing wrong with any of us.

@Crazydogmumma Oh god yes! My husband got a big bag of my 'fat' summer clothes down from the attic last weekend and I went through them all. Some really lovely fits but completely unwearable now... I just thought, fuck it. I have to commit to this. I've given them to the charity shop. This just has to be my life now.

@lapuf Woo! Whoosh for the win!

@Fizzleawayyy1 Great weigh in! Glad you've managed to git rid of those annoying pounds. I know it was pissing you off!

@NearlyNewHip Lovely, happy for you!

@ChimneyRock Hope that bloody plateau buggers off!

@Bluenose1966 So glad maintenance is treating you well, and some more! Thanks so much for the podcast recommendation. I'll listen whilst I am ironing the bed...

@lickycat Incredible achievement, well done you. Sooo agree with the mental benefits. This drug is worth it for that alone.

@Gilly1C You have done amazingly well! I fell the same about my stomach. It's always the most stubborn part.

@Taxiparent Me too!

@Mounjarocaro Finally being in the healthy BMI range must feel so good. I can't wait for that day. Feels like it will never happen.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Nooooo that is annoying! I did have a week like that a few weeks ago. Think it must have been a hormone thing because I am definitely in a deficit. It went quickly; hope it does for you too.

@EVK So close for you! How exciting! Makes me remember that it IS possible.

Current stats for me...

5'5 33yrs PCOS

SW: 16st 2.7lbs BMI 37.7
CW: 11st 7.1lbs BMI 26.8
TL: 4st 9.6lbs
To go: 2st 7.1lbs
GW: 9st BMI 21

I'm finally wearing size 12 jeans and tops... which I can't really believe. I've been an 18-20 for so many years. The mental relief of just going about my day and not feeling like an outcast is just such a relief. I finally feel like I can fit in. I know I say this all the time but I feel free!

OP posts:
HappyNewt · 17/03/2025 14:58

I am now starting to feel the difference..... yippee...
so this is something of a self accountability post...
SW 91kg
CW 76kg
So from over 14 stone to under 12 (I think)

I mentioned before that I had a good
initial 2 months start, got stuck for about 6 weeks before I started losing again. I really do think that I got stuck at about 10kg down as that took me to a weight that I had been at for about 5 years..before I crept up during and after covid to my all time high last summer.

Moving below that point would it seems have been a big physical and mental block...so it took some getting through the barrier.

Incredibly happy overall. Pleased to be losing, delighted to be able to fit into clothes I used to wear...I still had them buried in the wardrobe!!!

I am lucky not to have had any real side effects. I'm working really hard on fitness and looking after myself...and I'm hoping that I am making good food choices that I can maintain. Generally, I do feel really good.

Not sure on goal weight as I don't want to look scrawny..and i think following BMI might lead to that. I'm definitely not keen on the 'how low can we go' MJ effect. Healthy and able to look good in clothes again at a weight I can maintain would be ideal...
Getting back into trail running is definitely helping..2nd 10mg pen next week.

I'm seeing my 'oldest' friend in April, and we've not seen each other for a year....I was almost my largest last time....so we'll see what she has to say....

Thanks again everyone for all of your comments, huge congratulations to everyone!

recklessgran · 18/03/2025 06:56

Morning all. I'm back from my week AI in Gran Canaria.
I weighed and jabbed a day late due to the holiday.
I have gained a pound in the week so guess I should be happy with that. I was hoping for a small loss similar to my experience in January on the identical holiday. Oh well - I'll take it as I realise it certainly could have been much worse!
SW 154st 7 lbs
CW 14st 2.5 lbs
Currently on 3.75mgs being a MJ lightweight. Will catch up with everybody's doings now. Have a great week everyone.

recklessgran · 18/03/2025 06:57

Oh Lord start weight 15st 7 lbs - not 154 stones!!
