Actually, having said that, I do take the bonus dose every pen too, so I move up a dose every 5 weeks. I’m currently on 10mg.

lickycat · 08/03/2025 13:42

ChimneyRock · 08/03/2025 11:54

@OddBoots No, I haven't tried the golden dose - not with a syringe, anyway. Tried the "break the pen" method back in the early days and totally cocked it up and anyway, I don't think that works anymore anyway now. Don't fancy taking syringes with me on holiday for the first attempt.
ALTHOUGH..... if I tried that next week for the last part of this pen, that would push back the requirement for the next pen until after the trip.... Hmmm...
Where do you get the syringes from?

I got a big pack of 1ml syringes from Amazon. It’s really easy to use - far easier than trying to break the pen and count clicks! I was really apprehensive about doing it, but the idea of throwing away a dose every 4 weeks was so painful I had to try it, and it’s really easy.

lickycat · 08/03/2025 13:51

I think I’m on jab 21 today.

SW: 14st 13.2lb
CW: 13st 6.4lb
total loss 1st 6.8lb

Lost 2lb this week, which is quite a lot for me - my average is 1lb per week. I’d moved up to 10mg last week and the suppression has been quite significant. Oddly, side effects are zero. On previous doses I’ve had some nausea at least, but nothing on the 10mg. It does seem like the magic dose!

lapuf · 08/03/2025 15:21

ChimneyRock · 08/03/2025 11:56

@lapuf Not heard of that (shotsy). Obviously been living in a hole.
How does it work? Just looked on the app store and seen a few versions of it. They all say "in-app purchases." Does that mean you pay?

The free version is ok, and as mystic says, it will tell you how much is in your system. I recommended the paid one (£7.99 per month) so you can see a projection of your levels. Might only need it for the one month

ChimneyRock · 08/03/2025 15:42

Looked on Amazon and it seems you can only get packs of 100 needles! I need just one!
But at a fiver, I suppose I could just suck it up. 😂Hate waste though!

ChimneyRock · 08/03/2025 16:06

Oh, scrap that - turns out I was looking at the short needle caps that fit onto the Mounjaro pen.
Does anyone have a link for the actual syringes that would fit/work to remove the golden dose?

ChimneyRock · 08/03/2025 17:05

Thanks you. That needle is 8mm compared to the 4mm with the pen. Does that mean you don't push it into the skin as far? And if I'm taking 7.5mg, how far back would I pull the plunger?
(Sorry for my ignorance!!!)

OddBoots · 08/03/2025 17:14

If you go in at a 45 degree angle you can stay shallow enough.

A full dose (60 clicks) of any strength is 0.6ml which is to the 60 mark on those needles.

OddBoots · 08/03/2025 17:16

Sorry, the image didn't attach..

I have marked it as sensitive but it is only a diagram of injecting - I know some people are more squeamish though.

Thank you very much.

HansHolbein · 08/03/2025 20:34

Sorry I’ve been AWOL. Had a cold from HELL. I think it was the quiz we went to last weekend. It’s been a very long time since I was in a room with 70 people. My nose is now peeling from blowing my nose so often. Gross.

@Fizzleawayyy1 Hope 10mg kicks your arse!

@JustKeepsBreathing Lovely, well done.

@UtterlyQuackers Fucking fantastic! You must feel like a new woman 💪🏻

@flowerlady2 10mg has been wonderful for me. I’m on my second month of it now. I’ve had no side effects whatsoever. I don’t waver on day 5&6 which is great.

@lapuf How lovely that they noticed. Need to up my squats too. My knees make this really weird grisly sound when I squat. It’s given me the ick a bit. Maybe I need to wear headphones whilst I do it lol.

@Lillipops So happy for you 🥹

@ChimneyRock 3lbs woo!

@littleburn a 9! Woohoo!!!!!

@letshavetea Have an amazing time!

@recklessgran Great news about the loss. Have a lovely, lovely holiday. Enjoy the sun! Also wishing you a very happy birthday 🎂

@EVK Amazing progress!

@NearlyNewHip Incredible. It must feel so good to be ‘overweight’. Happy for you.

@PolaDeVeboise Wishing you the very best. Stay in touch.

@icantgetnosheep1 Happy birthday for tomorrow! 🎉 Have you got anything planned? Should be lovely weather, too!

@lickycat 10mg is the nuts! Another 2lb off, well done.

No ☕️ from me… apart from the vile cold. I did order some new bits and they look nice. It’s nice to be fitting in size 14 and M stuff but I must be honest and say that I think I’m suffering from a bit of body dysmorphia. I can’t really believe I’m nearly 4.5st lighter. I want to keep buying the tents and smock tops. I still feel like I’m taking up space. It’s an odd feeling. Does anyone else know what I mean?

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2025 21:52

I know exactly what you mean @HansHolbein - I’m finding clothes very confusing at the moment.
Lost 6lbs this week (been on my period and lost 0.5lbs the last 2 weeks so it’s kind of just shifted a lot of water weight/bloating!) and I’ve now officially lost 4 stone and am exactly 12 stone.
My old size 16/18’s have been piled up to donate, 14’s are loose but fine and 12’s fit fine but when looking at new clothes I’m struggling to get out of the mindset of looking for the largest sizes. Tried on an old pair of 14 jeans today, they were tight around my calves, snug around the waist and bum but when I sat down in them the material all sagged and bagged up around my crotch and made it look like I was wearing a nappy. So I’d have no clue what size to buy.

Autumnleaves4 · 08/03/2025 22:14

femininomenon · 07/03/2025 09:53

I think most people choose mounjaro as it's one of the cheaper options and generally has the least side effects (although as with anything they vary from person to person).
It is almost impossible to get prescribed from your doctor on the NHS so you need a private prescription/to buy online. Your BMI needs to be over 30 or 27 with certain other health conditions regardless of who prescribes it as they are the prescribing rules. If this applies to you then you can use monj.co.uk to look at the different online pharmacy prices and ratings to decide who to go with.

Thank you so much, that’s really helpful.

igivein · 09/03/2025 08:22

Weigh - in day for me and a welcome mini-whoosh with 3lbs off. Probably as a result of the stinking cold I’ve been blessed with this week (every cloud has a silver lining).
Well done @TheChosenTwo I haven’t had a loss like that since the very early days!
I should have jabbed yesterday and didn’t because I’m flying to Europe for the weekend next weekend and would prefer not to take my pen with me. I thought if I jabbed today and stretched to eight days this week as well I can jab on Monday when I’m back. I hope I don’t mess everything up and get all out of kilter. On a more positive note NSV: I won’t need to worry about if I’ll need a belt extender on the plane.
I’m struggling with my size too @HansHolbein . It seems to defy physics that I can now put things on that wouldn’t go over my knees before - how does that happen? God knows what I’ll be like if (when) I get to a ‘normal’ size (at 4.5 stone down I’m still a 16/18). I can’t get my head round the idea that I can go into a shop, and try to choose something based on whether I like it rather than whether I’ll be able to get into it. And also that they’ll probably have ‘my’ size and it may well not be the largest size - completely nuts!

Anyway - scores on the doors this week:

SW: 20st 2lbs
CW: 15st 7lbs

Total loss 4st 9lbs

Yep me too. Said to my husband yesterday when I look in the mirror I can't see any difference! I am not sure if this is concerning?

I have noticed my fitness levels are improving I can run for longer.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday xx

UtterlyQuackers · 09/03/2025 08:36

@HansHolbein also 4.5 stone? Smashing it!! 💪

Bluenose1966 · 09/03/2025 08:45

Congrats on the weight losses all. Amazes me when I pick 5lb potatoes up now and think I have lost over 7 times that. How did we manage to carry it all around!!!!

@HansHolbein That sounds a right stinking cold, I had one last year and went through two big boxes of tissues, you forget how horrible a nasty cold can make you feel. I find lip salve on your nose every time you blow your nose stops the drying out of the skin which can be so painful and I always have a box of Kleenex in as seem gentler on nose than other tissues. Hope you are over the worse.

My second week of maintenance after 37lb weight loss
SW 12st 2lb
GW 9st 7lb
CW 9st 6.7lb. Very pleased to be slightly below my elusive goal weight, though trying not too stress if I put a few pounds on.
I took 6.25 mg last week and going to reduce to 5mg this week and see how I go. Not in any rush to come totally off, though would quite like to reduce required dose.

i have been using 8mm insulin needles for the bonus dose, was a bit squeamish at first re the longer needle but felt no different, I just do it like my normal injection. Thanks for the info re injecting @OddBoots I had never even considered that, I have always just put it straight in. The thought of putting it in at an angle is making me squeamish now 😂.

Have started to list some of my better clothes on eBay and got rid of quite a few bags to Charity Shop. Some of the 12s I had got are now too big but they are Seasalt skirts which are quite generous fit. Would be happy to stay a size 12 as don’t want anymore crepey skin than I currently have.
The sun is shining and great that we all weigh so much less than last October.

femininomenon · 09/03/2025 16:40

Not much to report here other than I finally hit the 14's!! I'm not sure why that was such a big deal to me but I've been 15+ since Covid so it just felt like a good mini goal!
Weigh in day and another 2lbs down, I think it will be jab 8 of 10mg this week, I need to order another pen soon so will order another 12.5mg but as it stands I'll continue taking 10 from it like I am doing currently as it's working so well.
SW: 17st 4
CW: 14st 13
Hoping for another 2lbs to take me to 2.5 stone next week Smile.
Also did a lovely 11k walk this morning which I wouldn't have even dreamt of attempting 6 months ago!

ChimneyRock · 09/03/2025 17:51

Mixed feelings here. Went clothes shopping earlier and, whilst it was lovely to be able to fit into a size 14 (from an 18) and look nice in different styles, I got the shock of my life to see the wrinkles on my thighs and knees. Elephant skin! I guess that I'm just going to have to cover up more and adopt cooler fabrics that don't show much flesh. That's probably no bad thing at my age.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 09/03/2025 18:57

Evening all.

W20D1
SW 17'10
CW 15'5

First week of 10mg, and my best lost yet, 4 pounds off this week.

Most days I've barely been able to face dinner, let alone anything else, but no real side effects.

I've jabbed a day early as I am going into my office for 4 days this week instead of WFH. Also my stomach is looking a bit battered and bruised so am trying my thigh today, I've heard it's supposed to be stronger if you jab there, so see what happens.

Well done everyone!

I caught sight of my reflection and I have a wrinkly neck. Very upset!

hopeishere · 09/03/2025 21:14

Hello! Just to say I ordered two pairs of trousers. I got both in an 18 to be on the safe side - both too big! Delighted!!

TheChosenTwo · 09/03/2025 21:18

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 interesting that you noted being bruised etc on your stomach, I’ve often wondered if I will bruise or anything but I haven’t at all. It takes an awful lot for me to bruise though so it’s not that surprising but now it’s got me wondering if lots of people are also getting them and I’m getting away with it unscathed!
Hope changing your jab site brings less crappy results for you 😌
