Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Took my second dose this morning, I am still worried about potential side effects but so far mainly coldness, lost 3lbs this week

SquidgySquid · 05/02/2025 10:11

Hi to all February starters!
Another one here, received my first pen yesterday and plan to do my first jab on Friday, just in case of side effects.

SW 13st 10lbs
GW 10st 7lbs - 11st (I think)

I've already lost 3st since being diagnosed as type 2 diabetic around a year ago, but have hit a brick wall with any losses in the past 6 months.
Mr Sqidgy is already on his 2nd jab and is doing well and has encouraged me to get on it!

Roxymama · 05/02/2025 11:50

Hey all, I’ve just done my first jab this morning eeek!

I’ve read all your posts on here, well done everyone for starting this journey.

I’ve started at 12st 5lb, I’m looking to get to 9st 7lb if possible. I’ve never been this weight, but an under active thyroid & being 45, no matter how much I diet & exercise (childfree time permitting!) I just can’t shift the 3 stone.

good luck everyone!

DistantVworp · 05/02/2025 13:52

Hi all, I'm at day 5.

It's weird, I'm not feeling like my appetite is being suppressed that much, but I'm definitely eating less than normal. And for the first time in forever have been able to leave food on my plate if I feel full.

The biggest difference for me is the decrease in food noise - we had an event at work today and there was masses of free pizza (like enough for a large pizza each - they seriously over ordered). I'd already eaten and the past I would have sat at my desk thinking about pizza and eventually cracking and eating a whole one. And today, I just said to myself, I've eaten, I'm not hungry. AND THAT WAS IT! no constant follow up thoughts of 'well it's free' or 'you've been working hard you deserve it' or any of the million and one ways I usually justify overeating.

So definite win so far

Littlebitpsycho · 05/02/2025 14:08

@DistantVworp I can't WAIT for this to happen to me!

Feb2025start · 05/02/2025 14:20

@DistantVworp the absence of food noise is amazing isn't it?!

I'm also on day 5 and I have to admit I'm getting some (very mild) cravings creeping back in... late morning I really fancied something sweet that wasn't fruit for the first time in 5 days 😕. I did give in and had some ice cream but LITERALLY only two teaspoons and that was enough! Before I might have started on two teaspoons, but then it would just be playing on my mind constantly and I'd be going back in for more and more 'just two teaspoons' until I'd had the equivalent of a huge bowl! Instead it's been several hours and the ice cream hasn't crossed my mind until just now, and then only to remember to post here 😅

Looking forward to seeing how week 2 goes...

ClaireMarieJXN · 05/02/2025 14:34

hi I'm on w1d4.

DistantVworp · 05/02/2025 14:35

If this does nothing else but reduce the food noise then it's worth it to me. So often when I've tried to lose weight before I've literally stood in supermarkets arguing with myself before giving in and buying more crap - I hope the lack of food noise continues!

Startrekobsessed · 05/02/2025 14:37

@Feb2025start just two spoonfuls of ice cream is amazing!! I’m finding the lack of food noise amazing too, on day 4 post first jab and eating healthily has felt easy as I’m not getting any buzz or excitement from unhealthy food. I went to dinner last night and had a broccoli grain bowl whilst everyone else had pizza. I just looked at it and thought oh that looks nice whereas previously there would be no way I’d deny myself pizza.

long May it continue and good luck with week 2!

how is everyone else getting on?

OvertiredandConfused · 05/02/2025 14:42

I'm W1D4 and struggling to make myself eat. I can eat small, sensible amounts but I'm just not bothered and it is so counter-intuitive to make myself eat! Drinking water is fine, and I'm still having a latte each morning

Plan is to make sure I have at least the bare minimum for the rest of this week and am doing a meal plan for W2 so I don't get into bad habits.

Lola50 · 05/02/2025 15:15

@DistantVworp fantastic win. No food noise is enormous for me, too. It has been there forever for me, so this noiselessness is worth every penny on MJ.

ClaireMarieJXN · 05/02/2025 15:50

Hi. i started on Sat night so I'm day 4 of 1st dose!
i made the very bad decision to have a McDonalds on the Sunday after injecting on the Sat night and i have had Sulphur burps and terrible diarrhea since. Ive been drinking huel to get some nutrients back in but feel like i have started off so badly. Dreading my second dose. I'm looking forward to a proper (small) meal as nothing solid has gone in or out.
I hope these symptoms are not here to stay!!!
5lb down but I'm surprised its not more with how i have been.
Also, i did my 1st injection in my stomach with very little fuss but i have heard that injecting in the thigh sometimes lessens the side effects???

Housewife2010 · 05/02/2025 15:52

I've just administered my first injection! It did seem slightly naughty & seedy to be injecting myself with a drug I'd secretly ordered from the internet!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens. I'm sitting down now to recover from the stress of my first injection with a cup of tea and the first of my many pints of water!

Just done my first too And felt like that too 😆
Feeling anxious… 😬 and overthinking every feeling in my body 😆

Littlebitpsycho · 05/02/2025 17:07

Me too guys! Just done my first injection with the help of my very sensible 13 year old daughter (the only person in the world who knows)

I'm nervous but excited!

How tall are you? Im that exact weight today and looking to be a similar weight maybe a few pounds more

Housewife2010 · 05/02/2025 17:51

After taking my first injection this afternoon, I feel like Alice when she had drunk from the bottle marked "Drink Me"! Which way? Which way? Instead of Alice growing big enough to reach the keyhole in the door to the secret garden or getting small enough to sneak under the door, I feel that the "Which way?" refers to whether I get the dreaded sulphurous burps or something even worse further down! Hopefully in a few months the key will fit the door & on the other side is a sleeker, healthier & happier me!

Ke11 · 05/02/2025 18:27

Today seems to be popular, I've just done my first dose. Just like everyone said I didn't feel it at all, the needle is so tiny. I've gone with the top of my thigh for today, it seemed like the easiest spot for me.

Really hoping for minimal side effects to start. I'll be sticking to very plain food for a while to hopefully reduce the chance.

MJSpideySenses · 05/02/2025 18:42

Good luck to everyone starting today, there are a few of you! Hope it's side-effect free for you all.

I did my first one Friday night. No real side effects to report. I've felt slightly nauseous after eating spicy food but nothing else.

I've found it much easier to stick to healthy eating, lots of fruit and veg everyday. Ended each day on around 1200cals.

Roxymama · 05/02/2025 19:33

@timeformetolose I'm 5ft 5, I’ve always been thin ish until I hit my 40s & without any change in diet or routine the weight has piled on…. As a single mum of 4, I’ve completely lost all my confidence to go out etc I just want to feel like me again & am hoping this will help x

Mounjaroday · 05/02/2025 19:37

Totally overthinking food now.

Had a small bowl of roasted vegetables and two slices of grilled halloumi for lunch. Then a banana mid afternoon. And a small bowl of paella (like 1/5 of the size I would normally eat) for dinner.

Is it enough? Is it too much? Feeling mega guilty about a bit of paella rice. God I am so in my head!

Omg I'm exactly the same! Jab life is a strange one! I feel normal so far as in not really any side effects, I've managed to eat half my usual calories each day so far so that's good, but I'm not really sure how much my appetite is being suppressed as I'm SO aware of having done the jab so I almost wonder if I'm talking myself into being less hungry?!

sc0ttishlass · 05/02/2025 21:16

@LauraJustMe I was just texting my one friend who knows I'm on it (she has been on for 7 months and lost 26 per cent of body weight) , i was saying i don't even care if its physiological today but I've not snacked this evening and think i don't feel hungry. Also don't want to eat sugar and feel ill from it. Had 3 meals onky for honesty the first time In years....I'm so excited that this could be beginning of rest of my life! X

Mounjaroday · 05/02/2025 21:23

Haha thanks @LauraJustMe good to know I’m not alone!

I stress about eating anything! Worried if I eat something too delicious then my appetite might go “a-ha!” (in my head: suddenly appearing like Lord Flashheart, for those of you who remember Blackadder!)… then I’ll be right back to square one stuffing my face!

I've got a nasty headache this morning, it kept waking me overnight 😫

I can be prone to headaches anyway so I might be overthinking. Food noise is quieter but that could well be because of the headache.

Gotta get up for work now 😴😴
