Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

I've just had my first shot eeeek!!!

Hoping the MJ makes dieting easier!

Really hope this works!

Ke11 · 06/02/2025 11:18

So far so good for me, woke up with a bit of a headache and bit of nausea, but I also ate very little yesterday after lunch so some of that is probably self inflicted.

Had about 25% of my usual porridge serving this morning, felt completely uninterested in it.

I'm sure there's some placebo effect here but promising so far and very little side effects.

I do feel quite cold today but it's also a very cold day

Hoping this continues, have stocked up on veg, chicken and fruit as plain foods for the next week or so.

I'm not planning to change anything else just yet, I'm going to take a few weeks to settle into the medication before I look at exercise etc

Day 4 post first jab.
Positives - lost 3.5lb, was hoping for more considering how little I’m eating but also struggling toilet wise so that could be it.
Absolutely no food noise. Don’t want to eat, feel sick if I do, barely eating 500 calories a day.

Negatives
Feel sick, particularly after eating
Constipation
Freezing cold
Itching at night - anyone else had this?

My thoughts at the moment are that it’s great to stop me eating but I’m hoping the side effects wear off as it’s not been pleasant..

If it continues like this I may use it to get a stone off quickly and then come off it and do it the hard way through diet and exercise which will be slower, but at least I won’t feel like I’ve got morning sickness all day!!

Feb2025start · 06/02/2025 12:33

@Justtryingthis oh interesting, I am feeling really itchy at night too! I thought it was unconnected to the mj as it's not listed as a common side effect I don't think? But maybe it is that! It definitely started a day or two after the first jab...

No other negative side effects thankfully - that does sound rough. Feeling a bit worried they'll hit when I do my second jab tomorrow 😬

Oh my god. My side effects have been terrible. I had my 1st dose on Sat night but made a big mistake on Sunday (ate McDonald s) then started with horrific sulphur burps. I work in a small office so just can’t be in work smelling like that. Rennie helped! Then Sunday night till Wednesday morning I’ve had dreadful dihorrea which slowed right down yesterday. I’d not managed to eat much in solid form until last night.I was actually hungry and hardly surprising considering what had come out vs what’s gone in. I had grilled chicken breast and rice and then hummus and strips of red pepper. I went to bed feeling ok and woke at midnight with sulphur burps again and terrible dihorrea. Is this going to happen every time I eat solids? I’m off work again today as can’t move far from the toilet and I feel very weak and shaky and feeling like I could be sick but don’t and the noisiest gurgles coming from my guts!. Any advice would help as I’m not sure I’m even going to do my second dose yet if it makes me feel like this!

I've got a nasty headache this morning, it kept waking me overnight 😫

I can be prone to headaches anyway so I might be overthinking. Food noise is quieter but that could well be because of the headache.

Gotta get up for work now 😴😴

I took first dose yesterday and have also been headachey. Trying to keep my water intake up to help. I’m also prone to headaches and migraines and I actually read that MJ for some has made their migraines disappear so I was/am feeling hopeful?! I wonder whether this one is a bit of a stress headache from worrying!

Littlebitpsycho · 06/02/2025 13:53

Guys I think it's working!

Normally I literally eat all day every day - no proper meals as such just grazing - toast, sandwiches, chocolate, pastries, everything.

This morning I wasn't hungry till 10am, had 2 slices of toast which i ate up as usual (and worried myself). For lunch I put together a plate of fruit when I started to feel hungry AND I DON'T WANT IT! I've eaten an apple and a few grapes but I don't want the couple of strawberries or the orange.

What a revelation! My boyfriend was planning to order takeout tonight but at this rate I won't want it - YAY!

obsessedlex · 06/02/2025 14:00

Hiiiii - can i join you lovely lot please?
Just done my first injection and also had to administer my husband's to him (needle phobic) which was all quite traumatic! it actually doesn't hurt at all does it - I was just petrified of doing it wrong!!
SW 15st 7lbs
No idea what my target weight is, we can really only afford to do a few months but hopefully using this as a kick start.
Onwards and downwards!
xx

Soooo I woke up this morning feeling... not hungry exactly, but just wanting to eat (was eyeing up DH's toast etc 😬) and a bit of 'food noise' re the ice cream sat in the freezer - this had started mildly yesterday and was noticeably stronger today. After reading up on it a lot I'm tempted to inject today, and then every six days if needed - then hopefully use the 'bonus' fifth dose for my final injection to bring me up to the full month on the 2.5mg pen. Has anyone else done/considered doing this? I can't see any actual reason why not - obviously all the official guidance says to stick to seven days but doesn't state any potential negative consequences of not doing so 😕

You’re so lucky! I’ve been dreadful!!

Dozycuntlaters · 06/02/2025 15:45

Did my second jab Monday and although I don't feel awful, I don't feel great. Struggling to eat as I really dont fancy it so my calories intake is quite low at the moment. Last night I had 2 little oranges, had the raging shits ever since. Maybe the acid in them but won't be eating them again. I think I'm going to stay on 2.5, I cannot even imagine how I'm going to feel if I go up to 5. I will definitely be using my bonus dose, so not going to make any decisions yet about my next dose.

Dozycuntlaters · 06/02/2025 15:47

@Feb2025start why are you going to inject every 6 days for the 5th dose? You can inject every seven and still use it within the timeframe.

I meant if I was feeling like I am today I would do it every six days - I know it lasts 30 days once opened so I could stick to the seven day schedule and still use the fifth dose. I just meant that I wouldn't be left 'short' at the end of the month by switching to six days if I needed to. Sorry, I probably didn't write that very clearly!

Dozycuntlaters · 06/02/2025 15:55

@Feb2025start Ah ok yes, makes perfect sense. Thanks you lol.

I had my 1st jab on Sat and all I’ve done is empty liquid violently!
I feel your pain x

Bluehels · 06/02/2025 16:06

It’s a mounjaro miracle! I’m not starving after work!

Still in general having little appetite suppressant at over times but i’ll take this small victory 🤣

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 06/02/2025 16:37

@ClaireMarieJXN and @Dozycuntlaters 48 hours after my first jab I shat myself in a work meeting. Thank God it was online. But there was no warning. I basically switched off my laptop and ran to the bathroom but it was too late.....

Thankfully I've been fine with subsequent jabs but I am going to ensure that I am WFH for a few days when I'm due to go up to 5mg. I cannot risk being anywhere away from the house if it happens again

What’s this 5th dose? Sorry, I’m new to the whole MJ journey x

Apparently each pen holds enough for just over five doses - the 'extra' is there as a buffer/to cover the little bit that comes out when you prime the pen, but most people are left with pretty much a whole dose after injecting four times as per the instructions. So people have been getting that last dose out either by using an insulin needle to extract it or by doing a 'hard twist' on the pen to get it down to 1 again.

I don't know any more than that I'm afraid as I have no personal experience - I'm only on day 6 of week 1 myself! But there's lots of info if you search on here or just Google it 🙂

Starting today - just had the trauma of the side and front photo for consultation. Holy crap. Looking forward to motivation of this thread!

CottonCandyLand · 06/02/2025 23:01

I've got a lot less food noise, just wish it would drown out the alcohol noise, too.

MJSpideySenses · 07/02/2025 06:06

Week 1 weigh in this morning - I injected on Friday night so only really done 6 days but I don't always get up at the same time on a Saturday so have chosen today for consistency.

I have lost 5.6lbs. Happy enough with that as it's been easy.

SW 15st0.8lbs BMI 38.6
CW 14st9.2lbs BMI 37.5

Hope those who were feeling ill are doing ok.

Littlebitpsycho · 07/02/2025 06:59

So last night my boyfriend ordered takeaway from the chippy. I managed half a pie and about a dozen chips before I was full.

Overnight I had terrible acid reflux and had to leave my boyfriends this morning and rush home to take a poo 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ (not yet comfortable doing that at his!)

Anyone else struggling with side effects 2 days post first injection?

Feb2025start · 07/02/2025 07:17

@MJSpideySenses that's a really great loss! I'm planning to weigh tomorrow when I go to the gym as no scales at home - I went yesterday too but managed to stop myself as I weighed on Saturday last week and want to keep it consistent. Fingers crossed as I can definitely see that my stomach looks less blobby 😅🤞

It sounds like that was due to the type of food you had - I'm only day 7 but the only time I've had a (mildly) bad tummy was after a small portion of spag bol on about day 5. It was really healthy too (5% mince, lots of added veg, teeny bit of parmesan...) but clearly my body on mj doesn't like red meat or anything remotely rich or carby! I'm using the experience as motivation to stick to fish/chicken/veg etc and eat clean 😊
