Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

I’ve hardly eaten anything today….but I’ve drunk nearly a whole bottle of prosecco tonight 🤦‍♀️ I only drink fri -sun, I think that’s a massive mindset I need to shift.
im going to a spin class tomorrow morning so planning to have a couple of tablespoons Greek yogurt and some seeds/ nuts so I don’t do it on empty tummy.

does anyone else take levothyroxine for an Underactive thyroid? I’m on 100mg so I need to juggle that as well…..

Yes - also dealing w hypothyroidism - thinking I will get a blood test 1-2 months in - not sure how quickly it might impact on thyroid medication…I’m also on t3 medicine which has really helped get my thyroid functioning well - so don’t want to mess it up too much…

Hi everyone,

Introducing myself to the thread... it's reassuring to hear so many similar experiences to me.

I'm late 40s, autoimmune condition which has led to weight gain which i can't shift.

5' 5"
SW: 13st 3lb
TW: 11st ish (will assess nearer the time)
Jab day Wed.

I was so nervous doing my first jab last week! But it didn't hurt and then I was just nervous about side effects. Like many others, I've only told DH, I feel really embarrassed.

I eat really healthily most of the time, cook from scratch, almost never eat takeaways etc (which made the weight gain even more frustrating). So far the only side effects I've had is heart burn last night after a home made curry, I've been cold sometimes and my sleep isn't great (but it isn't anyway!) And I think I'm constipated.

What's been incredible is that immediately I just don't think about food, the noise is gone. I normally think about food CONSTANTLY! I've had tiny portions compared to normal and have made a conscious effort to eat protein. I haven't felt a jot of hunger since I had the first jab. It's an utterly bizarre feeling... I'm eating because I don't want to mess up my autoimmune condition by unintentionally fasting.

Hopefully I'll continue like this for a while and can finally feel better in my skin (and get back into a whole wardrobe of clothes!)

Littlebitpsycho · 09/02/2025 07:30

Anyone else's food noise returning a bit 4 days after first jab? So far I'm managing to keep control but yesterday was a bit harder!

Hopefully as it builds up in my system it'll last longer?

Plus side I caved yesterday and weighed myself and lost 3lb - but will do a proper weigh in for you guys Wednesday once it's been a full week ❤️

Startrekobsessed · 09/02/2025 07:34

@Feb2025start that is an amazing loss! You could do 3 weeks of this and be done 🤣
@bel i think it was you that said they’d ordered their next pen, are you going straight up to 5mg?

I lost 3lb this first week which I won’t lie I was a little disappointed with but good to see others say the first dose isn’t necessarily going to lead to weight loss. I had a lot of suppression days 1-4 then appetite back with a vengeance after that.

jab day today but husbands away so am waiting until he’s back this evening, felt light headed and don’t fancy looking after the kids alone feeling like that!

welcome to all the newbies and well done @BrendaSmall
On basically losing 3 stone already! Good luck on your journey

RememberDecember · 09/02/2025 07:35

@Jack1975 when did you apply? I also haven’t heard anything and wondering if that means it is not going to be approved (ZAVA).

Yes I had this too, I think I hadn’t really noticed the suppression properly until it went away!

billysboy · 09/02/2025 08:34

Just taken my first injection
SW 15 1/2 stone I will be interested to see how this goes and combines with Concerta XL that I take for my ASD

OvertiredandConfused · 09/02/2025 09:00

Just done my first weigh-in and I’ve lost 7lbs. Not a huge loss like some first weeks, but still amazing! Suppression has been pretty strong and no side effects, yet.

SW 21st 5lb
CW 20st 12lb

Not sure on final target yet but would love to manage a stone by the end of the month.

That's a great loss well done!

imdesperatedan · 09/02/2025 09:53

So far I’m noticing zero desire to eat at all, and a bit of tummy pain. Difficult to tell as I’m doubled over with period pain too, but seems to be a bit of pain a bit further up. I’m drinking a bottle of vitamin water as I’m aware I need to eat something, but can’t stomach any more to be honest.

Feb2025start · 09/02/2025 10:16

@Littlebitpsycho I had quite strong suppression on days 1-4 but definitely felt the food noise come back by day 5! Managed to power through the last couple of days by willpower (with a couple of slip ups...) and ended up taking my 2nd jab really early on jab day (I had originally taken it in the evening) just to shut the noise up 😅.

Now on day 3 of jab 2 and the suppression is WAY stronger than it was on jab 1 so I think it does build up... yesterday I had to force myself to eat some salmon and veg for dinner after realising I'd only had about 300 calories all day (which obviously isn't healthy...).

Well done everyone who's had losses!

Mounjaroday · 09/02/2025 10:26

@Littlebitpsycho I had similar experience with food noise coming back a bit, too.
@Feb2025start we’re both at similar stage aren’t we (week 2).

The difficulty I’ve had this week is not drinking for social occasions - basically drank all my calories Thursday and Friday! Did manage to go to the cinema and just have water, though, so felt that was a win 😂

@RememberDecember I ordered mine on the 2nd Feb with Medexpress, I wondered if the reason they were not accepting my photos was a delaying tactic, but finally 3rd attempt worked. Just had another email now to say it has been dispatched and I should have this by the 13th. Good luck, I hope yours is accepted soon

ChillyMint · 09/02/2025 10:44

The end of my first week. 5.5lb off, I'm happy with that. The food suppression kicked in but faded towards the weekend. I didn't have any obvious side effects, let's hope that lasts! Good luck for the week ahead everyone 😊

Mounjaroday · 09/02/2025 10:48

@Catmum100 I don’t see anything to be embarrassed about, I really really don’t.

All my friends know, I’ve been very open about it. It’s none of their business of course but equally I’m happy to be open about it. Most people seem to be genuinely interested to know how it goes. One or two do the whole “I just worry about you, be careful” shtick but that’s fine.

I have not told my family at all apart from DH. They are the ones who have been most worried about my health, so I’m looking forward to doing a big reveal (hopefully!) when I see them in a few weeks.

I'm a bit concerned as mine seems to be stuck at the royal mail sorting office. I had planned on starting today 🙄

How long has it been there?
My next pen was delayed with RM. It was meant to be delivered by lunchtime Friday, then it changed to Friday evening and in the end it didn't turn up until Saturday late afternoon. I was a bit worried that it would no longer be cool but cool pack inside was still cold.

It was meant to be delivered yesterday morning. It's on the way now apparently. Fingers crossed that it's still cold

Hellooo you lovely lot!

So I have been wondering about starting with mounjaro for a few months and finally went for it this week. I applied for it at Superdrug, sent photos and had them approved just before 72 hours, I was a little nervous they would reject even though its clearly visible how much weight I'm carrying. So I'm waiting for it to be delivered some time this week.

I'm so nervous. I haven't told anyone yet but I'm probably going to have to fess up to my partner once he wonders what it is in the fridge. I don't know why I'm so embarrassed ha!

Hope you all have some fab losses. I have tried EVERYTHING and the weight wont budge. After 4 babies and unhealthy binge eating due to stress and sooo much food noise I just want to be able to get in photos with my children without hiding myself or avoiding them (which probably sounds silly to a lot of people).

Height: 5ft 1
SW: 13 stone 10 (biggest I've ever been)

Good luck ❤️

I wish I could be more open about it, but I've listened to so many friends and family with strong negative opinions about it. And my mum has a really weird relationship with food and only eating "healthily" and has often judged me for my size. So for now I'm just going to have to keep quiet, which isn't my usual way of doing things!

I can relate to the photos. Carefully placing my 6 year old in front of me to cover the most shameful parts!

Mounjaroday · 09/02/2025 12:12

@Catmum100 can totally relate with the judgemental mother thing. That is tough.

Best of luck with your journey. If they do find out, everyone can shove their judgement and hopefully marvel instead! 😂

I think WL drugs are going to become totally normalised in our society. Give it 5 years and nobody will give a hoot.

Aww it's horrible isn't it I think I've actively avoided photos for the last couple of years so I don't face the reality of how much I've actually put on. Knees are struggling and my cholesterol now into the high bracket. I've really tried hard but nothing seems to be helping and I don't see my friends much anymore out of "shame" which seems silly but i can't help it.

The photos were the worst thing
