Hi All. Thanks very much for the advice re supplements, I'm going to order some this weekend.

I've just weighed myself after the first week and I've lost 4lbs. I'm a little disappointed, just seeing that amount compared with others on the March starters thread who have lost way more in their first week, and knowing that the first week is often the biggest loss. I ate really well, didn't snack at all, and ate no sugar, so it's clearly not going to get much better than that. I do need to get some exercise though so that should help. Still I'm going to be happy it's a loss, and I think my personal mantra will be "It's a marathon not a sprint". Not that I could do either of those things right now, but maybe one day 😊

Start Weight: 18s 7.4lbs
Current Weight: 18s 3.4lbs
Total Loss: 4lbs

SilenceInside · 07/03/2025 10:07

Argh, "gained" 0.5kg this week, so annoying. I know it's only a temporary blip, I've been under the weather with a cold this week that's been giving me sinus headaches and my period has arrived a few days early as well. It's spurring me on to really crack down this next week or two and see if I can push on down to the 90kg barrier that is so close now.

Current stats at the end of week 35:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 93.4kg (14st 9.95 lbs), was 92.9kg (14st 8lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.
Total of 101 pounds down, or 45.6kg.
Current pen: 7.5mg, 25 weeks on this dosage

Righty ho @gimmemounjaro 's scales have arrived. What fun!!!

How the heck can they know all this? They must be making outrageous claims ? How reliable is the data on say bone mineralisation (excellent) & protein (low).

My weight and fat levels are as expected (EXTREMELY HIGH) and while I'm in no danger of osteoporosis, the ap advises me I might like to eat less 😂😂😂

Honestly I love them. I can see me starting to weight daily? For the data 📉

It's always fabulous to find a new hobby.

Same here! Fascinating stuff!

Here @gimmemounjaro - you'll need to get some commission on all these scales sales😂

gimmemounjaro · 07/03/2025 11:29

Haha glad everyone is enjoying the scales!

I too love a bit of data and keep track of my weekly eufy stats, colour coded to show whether each value is extremely high, standard, low etc (see attached terrible photo of an iPad screen - I find it easier to peruse than looking at individual markers on the app).

It's just one of those little psychological tricks to stave off disappointment when weight loss is disappointing - "but my bone mass is excellent and visceral fat did fall from 10 to 9 so well done me". Built in NSVs (or maybe non weight victories, seeing as they do come from a scale if that makes sense 🤪)

Nerd alert 🤓 - my BMR is low, probably thanks to decades of restrictive diets, so each week I work out what it is as a percentage of the lowest value that would put my BMR in the 'excellent' category that week. Slowly I am approaching that value, so that's another slightly niche but rewarding thing to track.

The scales are enjoying me so much they gave me an extra 2 kilos! 😁

I have decided to try daily weighing - in the mornings, before yoga, on my way out the door. Lets see how this goes. I really got out of weighing myself over the eyars - trying not to be in "diet mode" etc. I gained a lot of weight this way.

I think daily weighing could be a useful discipline for me moving forward maybe not so much now, but as part of my "post MJ reset" life that is to come.

I am accepting that I am built to store fat, & I am built for survival in a savage world. In this not so savage world, with supermarkets, unimaginable bountiful food supplies, a strong appetite, and a comfy sofa, I must be alert to the perils of inhabiting a body built to survive & store fat. And this will involve being grown up about my dietary choices and keeping a track of my weight. So I will work on becoming friendly with the Eufy.

dimples76 · 07/03/2025 13:12

@gimmemounjaro for someone who used to avoid weighing themselves (did not way myself at all between April and December 24 when I was stunned to discover that I had acquired another ten kilos) thanks to the new scales I have become obsessed with weighing myself. Hopefully this will wear off and I will find a happy medium!

5.5 weeks in and 9 kg down, I am feeling good about myself and hopeful.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/03/2025 13:21

@RobinEllacotStrike that's the hazard of new scales. I've been sorely tempted by newer, fancier, shinier versions of my Eufy ones, but not tempted enough to risk that the new ones won't give me the same weight as the old ones.

I think once I hit maintenance I'll treat myself to a new pair because then I can use them just to keep on top of my weight so it won't feel like I've gone backwards on my goal towards ultimate wonder weight.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/03/2025 13:27

I accept it - and my weight fluctuates hugely from day to day anyway. So I'm not bovvered. I do wonder why are "errors" and "differences" always heavier rather than lighter though 😁

Quickly dropping in to say: I’ve noticed that we’ll likely need a new thread over the weekend and will start one when we get a bit closer to 1000 on this thread.

As you were!

@claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer I know what you mean about T-shirts looking longer lol. Mine are definitely baggier, my PJ bottoms are falling down too, but to be fair they had got a bit stretched out when I was at my biggest.
Also can’t wear my engagement ring at the moment as it keeps falling off.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 07/03/2025 15:49

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one with suspiciously long clothes! I’m quite tall so very happy for everything to be a bit longer

Dug out one of my favourite Boden work dresses which I only wear when I’m lighter (“lighter” for me being in the 17s lol) and it’s looking good!

MamaNewtNewt · 07/03/2025 15:52

What are these wondrous scales you are all talking about? Mine are a bit iffy so I need some new ones.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/03/2025 16:12

I have these scales

anyone else having problems with replying using the app? I’ve had to move to the browser version.

we are a chatty lot aren't we?

I really enjoy & appreciate this thread - I'm not much of a 'joiner' but I am really enjoying all the support, advice, empathy, recipes etc that we share on this thread. Thank you all 🙏🏼

Happy weekend losers!

I'm on the Million Women Rise march in London tomorrow for IWD so I'm going to pack my lunch this evening & have nice healthy food to eat & I won't have to buy food when I'm out.

I'm now the lightest I have been in 12 years. Almost 7 months in and I have lost 23kg. However with a BMI of 37.2 (was 45 at the start) I still have a long way to go.

And my trousers are too big for me. If it wasn't for the fact I have a rather ample arse that I spend most of my time sat on my trousers would be much further south by now. I'm busy this weekend but looks like I need to go shopping sometime rather soon.

MamaNewtNewt · 07/03/2025 19:19

Thanks for the info on the scales. I'm off to do a bit of shopping!

MooBaggage · 07/03/2025 22:10

After a hell of a week, I'm now in that there London, visiting DS1 - the perfect antidote! Having a lovely time, but aware I'm completely out of my routine until Sunday night - staying in a hotel, so no fruit smoothies and protein drinks... We're eating out each night, so I chose Tapas tonight, so I could have a couple of small dishes - all protein and I couldn't finish them - but did have 2 x large glasses of sangria - tons for me now!

I had a realisation this afternoon though - even if I have a heavy weekend, I'll just go back to normal when I get home - like a normal person...! I won't just give up and pile a load of weight on - who knew?!

So - am enjoying myself and then back to normal on Sunday 😊

(Next week I've got a long weekend in Lanzarote - may need a couple of weeks to recover..!)

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/03/2025 06:34

164.6lb this morning which is a BMI of 25.02 I think I can reasonably round that down and say “Hey folks, nothing to see, just a healthy weight person standing over here, chilling.”

RobinEllacotStrike · 08/03/2025 06:45

Congratulations @InfoSecInTheCity
That's incredible 🎉🥳🍾🎆

dimples76 · 08/03/2025 07:08

Well done @InfoSecInTheCity

Well done 👏👏👏

gimmemounjaro · 08/03/2025 09:20

Weigh day for me, week 34:

SW: 241.2lbs / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 179lbs / 12st 11 / BMI 26.4
GW: 160lbs / 11st 6 / BMI 23.5

This week -1.9lbs
Total -62.2lbs / 4st 6 / 28.2kg

Very happy with that, been a busy and stressful week with not as much water, exercise or sleep as I'd like. And weirdly I have started having burpy / achy side effects for the first time, after 8 months on MJ 🤷‍♀️

Next targets:
178lbs = 4.5st loss
177lbs = 80% done
175lbs = clothes try on and sort
174lbs = closer to 12st than 13.

On we go 💪

CatTraveler · 08/03/2025 09:25

Yesterday morning was my 34 weeks since I started MJ

I have lost 26.9kg over that time, and yesterday fell from BMI Obese Class 3 to class 2. I currently weigh 107.8kg (16st 13.7lb) which is still very high but the numbers are going down. I have lost 20% of my starting weight in that time. I have just finished my first 10mg pen, did one pen of 2.5mg, one of 5mg and then sat on 7.5mg for a few months.

Its been a bit of a meandering journey for me - I have had quite a few holidays/long weekends away where I havent worried about what I ate, sometimes came back a couple of KG heavier but that soon came off.

I did have a goal of 100kg before Good Friday as I am flying long haul that day (6 more Friday weigh ins), not sure if that is achievable but I am still aiming for it, with a mini goal of loosing another ~5kg before then as that will take me to the 5 stone loss. And if I dont hit either then I will hit them in the weeks that follow...

Darlinghag · 08/03/2025 09:47

Congratulations @gimmemounjaro and everyone else!

its weigh day for me, and another .5lb off. Its lower than I was hoping for, but I ate a carb heavy meal last night which tends to affect me, and I have weighed a little less through out the week, so I am sure more will come soon.

So that brings me to 15st 1.1lb, and a total of 5st 12.9lb lost (not all on MJ!).

I had a goal of getting under 15st by the 12th, so there’s still a little time, but I won’t be disappointed if I don’t!

Some things this week:

  • couscous is great. I also associate it with my old slimming world days but I am loving it at the moment as a lighter alternative to rice.
  • I don’t tend to buy processed protein bars etc, but I tried a couple of the M&S ones - specifically salted caramel and cookies and cream and they are lovely!! Much nicer than any branded ones I have tried. I am eating them lunch times on the first couple of days after a jab when I could easily not eat all day.
  • I have to be at work in person for three days next week - which means I needed clothes. I work from home so tend to wear tshirts and I don’t usually go in person for that long. So I ordered some things on New Look - and I fitted in a size 16 shirt!! I ended up opting for the size 18, just because I liked the fit a little more, but the fact the 16 was on and fit was wild!! I have quite a few size 16s now, some tops, a jacket and a pair of drawstring trousers. Just WILD.
