@Reginaphalangeeeee I’ve just started and had the exact same debate about my goal weight- a healthy BMI almost feels like an unrealistic dream, I haven’t been that slim in a long time! For now I’ve gone for 12 stone 7, which is a 6 stone loss and would put me at the lower end of “overweight”. I decided I wanted something ambitious to make me feel like I’ve really committed to the process, and then I can reassess when I get there and decide if losing that extra stone to be a healthy weight feels reasonable for me.

In my head I’m just concentrating on half a stone at a time though, which feels a bit less intimidating!

NearlyNewHip · 27/01/2025 08:35

I've set myself loads of mini goals to get to my hypothetical (been obese as far back as I can remember, even as a child so setting an ultimate goal weight is a bit hypothetical at the mo) goal weight of 70kg, which would be a loss of 33.4 kg. I mix and match stone, lbs and kilo to get more goals 😂
I have 2 stone lost (0.5 lbs to go), under 90 kilo (1.4 kg to go), under 200 lbs (2 lbs to go) coming up and a little further away is under 30 BMI (8.5 lbs to go). I ❤️ ticking off my mini goals!!

NearlyNewHip · 27/01/2025 08:41

Lost 4 stone ish on slimming world (for the fourth or fifth time) before I started mounjaro after putting a stone back on as I was fed up of being starving, fighting every day with myself not to just have some toast and couldn't face another low fat jogurt.....

Can anyone remember what the website is where you plot your measurements in and it produces a body outline picture?
I'm not OK about having actual pictures of my body but outline pictures would be OK.

DH takes the pictures for me and then deletes them once they've been uploaded to the online pharmacy.

alwaysscared · 27/01/2025 09:49

21 jabs done, 51lbs down. Can see 14 on the scales! 14st 11.5lbs! Can't believe it.
Terrible week of diarrhoea though, I've gone back to thigh injection, see if that helps.

Hiya
This one amzn.eu/d/2ucKHlA

I started taking it a long time ago to help my chronically dry skin but only being strict about taking the full dose since starting MJ

I use Nutravita - its on Amazon and on the cheaper end. Tik tok Mj huns all say Wellguard but it tastes awful!! Can’t taste Nutravita in my coffee, just sort of makes it a but creamier which I like!

Darlinghag · 27/01/2025 10:09

@Arglefraster not calling you a hun though lol! 🤣 i really could taste like a beefy cast to it even with a sugar free syrup in my coffee!!

well done @alwaysscared @InfoSecInTheCity and everyone else!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/01/2025 10:14

@alltablenochairs you want this https://modelmydiet.com/

Its a bit magic but nice to look at occassionally

I take this collagen powder - though I keep forgetting. No idea if it works or not - I mean how will we ever know? But Nutrigold is an excellent brand & I've happily used their supplements etc for years.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/01/2025 10:16

taste wise the Nutrigold collagen is inoffensive - I usually mix with water and Vit C powder & knock it back, but you could add to a smoothie and not taste it at all.

Arglefraster · 27/01/2025 10:19

🤣 no tiktok here!

I can't take the marine ones (or at least I'm too scared to try because all fish/shellfish & their products make me vomit!)

Darlinghag · 27/01/2025 10:48

@Arglefraster Nutravita is bovine! But if I liked Wellguard I would take it as its cheaper haha!

@RobinEllacotStrike I’ve taken consistently for about 5 months and do feel my skin is better for it - not so much noticed anything else! It feels smoother - not like getting rid of wrinkles or anything, just generally smoother and plumper maybe?

Ha! Clearly my searching skills suck!
So long as I put it in a more strongly flavoured drink (& don't inhale through my nose 🤣) it's fine & I find it disappears into soup/yogurt etc so I'll stick to cheaper!

Started ancient and brave true collagen.
Bought online with a discount code but noticed they are also selling in boots

ThatPearlSeal · 27/01/2025 13:21

Hey, just thought I'd stop being a lurker and say hi :)

I will take my 3rd dose of 2.5 tomorrow- with the next pen waiting in the wings already!

I started off at 16 stone 5, weighed myself yesterday and now 15 stone 13...but had a terrible couple of weeks with my fur baby (West Highland terrier) having to be put to sleep and my dad being diagnosed with bowel cancer, so think there may be an element of stress at work!

Still- I have 5/6 stone to lose.. just ordered some peppermint tablets and Imodium - to make sure I am prepared... any other tips for supplements or how to keep skin from sagging with lots of weight loss would be welcome!

idrinkandiknowthings · 27/01/2025 13:45

Hey all

I'm pushing 16st and seriously unhappy. It's affecting practically every aspect of my life. I used to have a modicum of willpower before I gave birth to my DD 18 years ago but since then it totally evaporated and I've been steadily gaining weight ever since.

I've just completed an online questionnaire with Boots Pharmacy with a view to taking Mounjaro but I've stopped short of ordering because I'm frankly terrified. Should I just take the plunge?

For context, I'm 57, a heavy drinker of red wine and my food triggers are mainly carbs and dairy.

TIA

SilenceInside · 27/01/2025 13:52

@idrinkandiknowthings there are many places which are much much cheaper than Boots - there is a comparison site called monj.co.uk where you can look at the prices for the starting dose (2.5mg):

https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/

All the pharmacies listed there are regulated by and registered with the GPhC.

Regarding whether you should take the plunge, well, I would say yes as I've been taking Mounjaro for 6 months and got on well with it. You will likely find that you don't want to or can't drink anywhere near as much as you might currently drink. Many people find that they are able to just eat at mealtimes, no snacking, and that they are satisfied with smaller portions. Protein and veg become more appealing than carbs, for many people.

But, some people find they need to move up to the higher doses before it begins to work well for them. So you should be prepared for it to be a long term programme, it's the long term consistency that Mounjaro enables that produces the long term weight loss. And, for a small percentage, it doesn't ever really produce those effects. But it's worth trying, as most people get great results.

gimmemounjaro · 27/01/2025 14:01

What's worrying you in particular @idrinkandiknowthings?

Why not give it a go - if you don't like it you can just stop and it will leave your system pretty quickly. But if you get on well with it, your life could be completely transformed. If you'd like to be a healthy weight and to drink much less then you have everything to gain and not much to lose. Plus if you give it a try at least you can stop wondering Smile

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 27/01/2025 14:06

Welcome @idrinkandiknowthings. None of us (I hope) are going to tell you whether or not to take a potent prescription-only drug. We can offer you four full threads of honest accounts of our journeys so far if you want to do an advanced search and have a read to help you make up your mind, and if you do take the decision to go for it then we will be here to support you. Good luck Flowers

Major NSV bought my first ever size 10 as an adult, it's just taken me till I am 68, trousers from Next. Don't care if they are made generously, going to wear them with the label hanging out. Almost 6 stone lost since June 24

Caplin · 27/01/2025 15:06

@idrinkandiknowthings Obviously only you can weigh it up and choose for you.

I was quite a heavy drinker, not everyday, but was well over my recommended weekly amount. I started MJ in Dec and I am now well within the recommended amount, I just don't want to drink much, which has never been me since I was about 17! It may be one of the biggest benefits that I did not forsee, and I think my skin is starting to look so much better.

I have also gone right off fatty, processed and carb heavy food, so it is making it easier to stick to the 'right' food.

I am quite sensitive to MJ, and I've lost 2 1/2 stone since mid Nov and only gone to 5mg, but I have had a few side effects which got worse when I had a nasty virus. But generally it is working well for me and I can see and feel the difference now which is great.

gimmemounjaro · 27/01/2025 15:32

Love this 😂
Congrats to you @BakingNana
