Those waiting for blood tests /first pens hope you hear soon!

Congratulations to all those accepted or beginning their journey.

I was up a lot in the night with diarrhoea 😕

Taking imodium regularly, with little effect if I'm honest. It started on day 4, today is day 5 post jab which has taken me by surprise.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I was ok after the first jab, felt a bit 'off' some slight nausea, but nothing awful. I have to say it's taken me by surprise that jab 2 would be like this.

I've just cancelled a meetings for today as I can't be far from the loo!!!

Yes! Just figured out to actually respond to a message properly, I was all over the place before now!

I'm pleased you're in. Does yours arrive tomorrow aswell. ? X

I'm looking at a Thursday or Friday delivery I think. I'm going to have to designate a safe space for it and hope it doesn't come in massive neon packaging, I really don't want anyone to know I'm on it irl and I'm friends with my neighbours.

One thing I really detest about losing weight is the expectation others have of me! Even if I don't mention I'm on a diet, if I've lost weight and people notice I feel so much pressure to keep going or keep it off and I feel like a failure if I don't, which jeopardises future efforts. It's definitely all in my head but I feel like if they know I'm on this medication, I will feel this pressure tenfold...

That's a good point actually, does anyone remember if their pens arrived in subtle packagin?

Oh no! Sorry to hear that.
Isn't it strange that it can have this effect and yet by day 5-6 people are reporting reduction in effective hunger suppression.

Sorry if too graphic, but could it be constipation induced diarrhoea?

Just got my test results back - cholesterol and blood sugar high, which is bizarre as I had them done 2 weeks ago via my GP and they were both perfect, as they've always been!

Hmm did you test after eating something? Usually my bloods would be high after eating breakfast like cereal or something.

I think I've seen people say it's pink packaging which is bigger than your letter box.

I'm the opposite, I'm going to tell as many people as possible as I want support and understanding about why I may be changing shape and also not feeling physically well anymore just in case it's a big hitter for me with side effects. So my boss, work colleagues and friends and immediate family for definite. I think most of my nearest and dearest will have the most concern about how I'm paying for it. ! 🫣 X

Bigknickers56 · 21/01/2025 12:11

My blood test just came through and it was generally as expected (high cholesterol). But the GGT result is very high (75.8) which is a bit worrying. I don't drink much alcohol so I'm guessing fatty liver. Did anyone else get a high result and still get the prescription from Shemed? I am worried in case they say no!

JBJ · 21/01/2025 12:15

@themumformerlyknownas no, I did it first thing in the morning so hadn't had a thing other than water since about 8pm the night before. Also was just getting over norovirus, so hadn't eaten much at all in the previous few days. It's the cholesterol one that's baffled me as I've gone from the low side of normal to really quite high in 2 weeks!

TLMoo · 21/01/2025 12:17

@Earthgirl3971 I've told a lot of folk too, the last thing I want is to be sat in the middle of a debate about mounjaro and for my colleagues to feel bad because they didn't know I was on it 😂 and I'm hoping the results become obvious in a month or two so it will come out then! I was expecting to be met by a lot of judgement but if I'm honest a few of the work girls wanted all the details for themselves and my family know and understand I am MISERABLE in this body and they have seen how hard I have tried to correct it in conventional ways and failed so everyone seems to be excited that the might get the old me back soon! Everyone's journey is different isn't it but my gob is far too big to keep this secret 😂

This is the box the first dose comes in! Literally shoe box size but from what I gather the following doses come without the care package so likely much smaller.

TLMoo · 21/01/2025 12:20

@JBJ this is really interesting to me because I had my Thyroid tested in December and my TSH was 4.8 and the SheMed bloods came back as 13.7........ which is definitely hypothyroid and I've suspected the same since pregnancy 7 years ago but the GP has said absolutely not as my levels are always below 5....until now

No it's absolutely not!! I haven't been constipated at all on mounjaro, this is definitely diarrhoea!! I'm a nurse by background!!!

It's bizarre as my thyroid has been "borderline", but not enough to be classed as officially under active, for years, yet the SheMed test shows it well within the normal range, but my cholesterol and blood sugar, which have never been anything other than normal, are now really high! I'm in the pre diabetic levels now apparently! Liver function is also way higher than it was 2 weeks ago. It's just really surprised me and, to be honest, making me wonder how accurate these blood tests are.

CleverKhakiBear · 21/01/2025 10:50

I wanted to ask how are people doing their weigh ins because I find when I weigh myself before going into a shower I get an accurate weight as opposed to weighing myself fully clothed. I know clothes don't weigh that much however I feel like my weight is higher when I am clothed as opposed to not being clothed x

As long as you do it the same way each time for the official weigh in it doesn't matter.
I also prefer to weigh after shower and poop but not good for having to be online weighing.

My liver tests were all high! I'm happy to finally be able to say I've been approved 🥳

RedHillLady · 21/01/2025 12:56

W2 D4.
Felt a bit bloated Saturday night, had to go out for lunch on Sunday and really didn't feel at all like eating. I ate a very small amount but felt so full and nauseous.........I ended up vomiting before bed and instantly felt better!!!
Took things gently yesterday and managed to eat, but not much.
Today I feel much better. I've had breakfast and lunch, suppression is still high.

Bigknickers56 · 21/01/2025 12:56

Thank you @@FollyDear. That's good to hear. Hopefully my fatty liver will get less fat with the jab.

SeaStoat · 21/01/2025 13:28

Good afternoon all. I am new here - and just did my first shot. I was scared - but got a grip and did it. No pain on injection, unlike the two weeks of daily clot busters I had a couple of years ago that hurt like hell. I am aware of the injection site right now - but it isn't uncomfortable.

I was going to post on MJ UK on Reddit but saw the aggression against SheMed by established posters and felt unwelcome.

I have 100lbs+ to shed and chose SheMed because the compulsory tracking is an external support for the months (years?) ahead. So thank you, dear mumsnetters, for having this thread.

As they want to see at least your face on camera at the start of checkin, it's probably best to wear 'consistent' clothing than do it in the buff. Even if it's just your bathrobe,as that will weigh the same every week.

I've been a bit inconsistent on my clothing initially, but I'm trying to get settled into a routine where I am going to be wearing similar clothing.

On supplements, has anyone used Nutrition Geeks? They're super cheap and I can't work out why! I've ordered some Biotin and some vit D. Biotin because I'm a bit paranoid about hair loss as I used to have super thick hair and in the last few years, I think because of stress, it's definitely thinned.

I've also got some marine collagen powder from elsewhere which tastes not particularly nice but it was half price so I got two months worth. I haven't eaten fish in decades so we'll see if it agrees with me 😬

I have just bought accent and brave bovine true collagen power.

Got a 'blue light' discount but it's pretty pricey @ £25 a month.
Not really sure on serving size either.

Interested to know what 'cheap' is and how effective it is.

Read a few people taking Wellgard.
That's £19.99 currently.
Considered their multivitamin but concerned with iron it may sensitise an already sensitive tummy so just taking Barocca at the moment and normally have daily vit D anyway.

JBJ · 21/01/2025 14:18

Once I receive my first pen (assuming I'm accepted), can I pick a day to inject, or does it have to be done ASAP? I'd rather have a Monday, as I have a lot of camping and festivals booked starting in the spring, so don't want to pick a day when I might be away (can't imagine I'd get an accurate weigh in whilst in the middle of a field!), plus I'm aware I might get diarrhoea etc after the jab, so I'd rather be home if I have to deal with that!

Shmallow · 21/01/2025 14:25

@Reginaphalangeeeee I was going to go with A&B but was in the health food shop and they had some on offer (marine is supposed to be a little easier on the stomach, which is important for me as I've not eaten either meat or fish since I was very little), so just stocked up there and will move over when it runs out.

The Nutrition Geeks don't do collagen powder, but I got biotin tablets from them, along with vitamin D. I saw them recommended in a few places, but then was surprised when I saw how cheap it was.

Mieliwood · 21/01/2025 14:44

Prescription approved and due to be delivered tomorrow.

I'm ready to do this, I need to do this, prepared, researched etc so why now it's becoming real do I feel physically sick at the thought of it?

Shmallow · 21/01/2025 14:51

@Mieliwood I think we all did when it suddenly became real! It has such huge potential to be transformative though. You can do it!

Mieliwood · 21/01/2025 14:59

I think it's not helped by having the worst migraine i have had in a long time today. I actually emailed in sick and I never do that.

I am hoping by summer I will have lost a noticeable amount of weight. I have a holiday to visit family and have been informed that a member I have not seen since a child and when I was 8 told me I was as wide as I was tall (and I was a very tall kid!) will be there and that will be a two fingers up to them. They probably don't even remember saying it nearly 30 years ago but it's stuck in my head forever

tinyemmy · 21/01/2025 16:30

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I hope that you are feeling better!
I'm checking in on this post from holiday. I have definitely eaten a lot less than usual but I've still managed to have some treats which is great, but just having one canape, half of starter and main. I'm generally having half of lunch too. Normally I'd eat everything on my plate.
My third jab is due tomorrow, I'm going to do it when I get back from the restaurant around 10:30 at night (the last two have been midday - when the box arrived and early morning - my preferred time). I won't soban official check in as I don't want anyone to hear me and I don't have scales but I will check in when I get home on the Sunday / Monday.
No side effects still, perhaps a bit of indigestion but I used to suffer with this before.
