@Lostatsea10 sorry to hear you have been struggling, I second the herbal tea. I drink twinnings digest and metabolism tea throughout the day which seems to really help me. It's interesting to hear about your period returning, I am 8 years on the mini pill with no periods and had some bleeding today. Not a proper period, but like the start of one. I did wonder if that would happen as they say it makes the contraception less effective. Let's hope it doesn't happen every month!

Lostatsea10 · 22/02/2025 19:51

I agree re the confusion around thigh but have to try I think as I can’t carry on like this. I’m going to try and see what happens.

I’ve been drinking herbal tea and it’s not helping. It’s horrendous wind and bloating that is so painful, starts holding every Friday day, by Friday night/overnight I’m in agony and can’t sleep and equally can’t pass wind. Then on Saturday I’m freezing and my whole body feels like flu aches, I hurt all over, and then Sunday is more of the same before settling down. I haven’t eaten on a Friday or Saturday at all yet since starting Mounjaro because I feel so ill and sometimes sick. By Monday I’m fine but I just can’t tolerate the 3 days every week of feeling horrendous.

FollyDear · 22/02/2025 19:57

Eek, I just did my first 5mg jab too! I also thought that I would do it before bed instead of tomorrow morning. I still want to weigh on a Sunday morning so didn't request a change, I figured it wasn't that many hours earlier than normal. I could really do with an extra nights sleep on the meds as I'm usually wiped out on Mondays. Hoping I don't get too ill. Really looking forward to increased suppression again, this past week was soooo hard and I could eat normally again like pre mounjaro. Will power certainly tested! Not expecting to lose any weight but I shall see what the morning weigh in brings.

FollyDear · 22/02/2025 20:01

I'm so sorry to hear it's been such a struggle @Lostatsea10. I've had days where I wondered if it was worth it, I've had awful nausea and fluctuated between constipation and diarrhoea. This certainly is a battle at times. Maybe a thigh jab is worth a try just to test the theory.

afromom · 22/02/2025 20:04

That sounds horrible @Lostatsea10 sorry to hear you are feeling so bad

OneAzureMaker · 22/02/2025 20:17

@Lostatsea10 I'm sorry to hear that. I jab on a Friday and I have to say I find the symptoms similar. Saturday and Sunday I always feel dizzy and lightheaded, alongside wind and discomfort.

I've found a windeze and Rennie's before bed does help a bit.

Does anyone inject in the thigh? I’m going to have to give up otherwise, I can’t tolerate the side effects or the pain it’s causing. But did read that in the thigh has less gastric effects. Just wondering if that’s been anyone’s experience?

Me! It could be a coincidence but my side effects have been minor and I haven’t jabbed anywhere else. Suppression isn’t as high as some people’s but still plenty.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 22/02/2025 23:03

Thank you for thinking of me @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden
I do appreciate the support here as only husband knows about MJ and really difficult considering keeping going with the grief to deal with too.

I am pleased I kept to 3.75mg this week.

It is weigh in and jab day for me tomorrow. Minimal side effect except day one headache, bit cold and occasional nausea which is mostly short lived and eased with food.

Still not sure what to do tomorrow, maybe 3.75 again or try 4.25mg
I know I have been a bit of a wuss about going 2.5 to 5mg but know life is hard already, my eating is off and this early post death of loved one part is so so busy sorting admin/forms I can't cope with side effects too. Hope to be up to 5mg by the end of this 2nd pen, just a slower transition.

Sorry if I missed this, is this since injecting 2.5 or with a move up to 5mg?
Is there any way to reduce dose to allow you to accommodate?

The Shotsy app interesting as shows how injection concentration/accumulation changes through week and then point and rate of decrease. This may help you to understand your specific tolerance amount?

Lostatsea10 · 23/02/2025 06:17

This is still at 2.5mg. The thought of 5mg feels impossible. I shall try jab 4 in my thigh and make a decision from there but so far, it hasn’t agreed with me at all. It works without doubt for the suppression and food noise but the side effects have been awful.

MrsMidgeMaisel · 23/02/2025 07:53

@Lostatsea10 I am really suffering too so solidarity here from me. I do my jab Thursday morning and by Friday lunchtime I start with the notorious 'sulphur burps'. Then for three weeks in a row I've been up for 2-4 hours in the night on the Friday, vomiting and diaorhea. TMI but it's like my body won't stop until I'm empty, the worst sickness bug ever or something. I am TERRIFIED to move to 5mg. I don't think I'm going to, I've already broached it and they said I can stay on 2.5 for another month. As an aside, I did also hear about injecting into thigh, and tried it this week and sadly it made no difference for meSad I guess it just affects everyone differently. For me, I've lost 13lb in a fortnight, and I have a LOT of weight to lose so I'm going to have to stick with it. I'm just hoping I get used to it and these symptoms are less severe!

Newshoesnewname · 23/02/2025 11:03

@MrsMidgeMaisel and @Lostatsea10 , sorry to hear you are suffering so badly.

No idea if this would work, but how about trying a preemptive dose of pepto bismol before you jab, and then keep dosing with it to try and fend off the symptoms before they start?

Or alternatively try half dosing. No one would know but you might be able to tolerate the lower dose for a couple of weeks then move back to 2.5.

Lostatsea10 · 23/02/2025 11:24

Solidarity @MrsMidgeMaisel. I don’t want to give up but can’t carry on like this, it’s definitely working in terms of noise suppression etc but the side effects currently outweigh the benefits. I shall try the thigh this week to see if it makes any difference .

Thanks for all the kind words and support everyone. What a lovely group of supportive people.

Mazd323 · 23/02/2025 15:31

Due to take my 2nd dose of 5mg tomorrow and think I'm actually more hungry on 5mg than I was on the 2.5mg. Anybody else experienced this?

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 23/02/2025 17:07

Hi All, I’m really sorry to hear about the side effects some of you are experiencing. It sounds horrendous. I hope it all settles down and you are able to continue with the programme. I have been injecting in my thigh and haven’t had any issues with feeling unwell, just a slight headache in the evenings.

I have had a strange week. I’ve been off work and without my usual routine. I hadn’t really noticed any appetite suppression in previous weeks, I thought it was just helping me resist any snacking. However, this week I have not felt hungry at all and haven’t eaten very much. This is not a great idea as I ended up with pretty horrific constipation! Lesson definitely learnt…regular meals and lots of water are important.

I have completed my 4th weigh in today and will take my first 5mg jab this afternoon. I’ve lost 13lbs so far. Not quite the stone I was hoping for but I’m not complaining.

I hope everyone has a good week and any side effects are minimal.

OneAzureMaker · 23/02/2025 19:03

I've just been approved for a second 5mg pen. I was concerned they would want to up it again, but thankfully not. I did request that it stayed the same.

Monmonss · 24/02/2025 08:03

Hi all, sorry to hear some of you struggle with side effects. I'm W3 D3 and had bad digestive issues for a couple of days after injecting, especially nights. I tried with changing injection place and taking it in my thigh but that didn't help. Really hoping it will settle soon because I'm fed up with sleepless nights. How long it takes them now to issue a new prescription and send pen? I'm away until Saturday and not sure should I wait or fill in the questionnaire now. Thanks

Needtomust96 · 24/02/2025 09:20

Has anyone successfully gone to 7.5mg that wanted to? I've just taken my second 5mg dose. Since starting I've lost 4kg, but this is with sheer determination, my suppression has been minimal. Lots of people are getting on great at 5mg, even 2.5mg which is amazing. I'm just not having the same experience and wondering if anyone has successfully gone up?

JBJ · 24/02/2025 09:54

Final 2.5 jab this morning and another 1.5lb off. The last week has been a struggle as suppression has been minimal (starving hungry most of the time, but not craving chocolate for once in my life!) so looking forward to starting 5mg next Monday.

floweryjones · 24/02/2025 14:46

Hi, can anyone taking Shemed please tell me if the postage box is discreet? Does it come in brown paper or is it posted with the pink box and a note for it to be refrigerated for all to see? I have a great postie who will sign for us if we aren't in but I didn't want the world and his wife (small village close neighbours) knowing about the jabs. Thank you.

afromom · 24/02/2025 14:48

It's the same pink box with SheMed on the front and instructions to refrigerate from what I can gather.

kittykarate · 24/02/2025 15:10

Hi @Lostatsea10 I'm a thigh jabber - my side effects have been alright mostly.

It can't hurt to try, and I couldn't work out the co-ordination for belly or arm so that was me working my way around my thighs (left leg odd weeks/right leg even weeks)

kittykarate · 24/02/2025 15:12

@floweryjones The first 2 boxes were big pink boxes with SHEMED written on them. My 3rd box was even bigger, but plain white with a 'refrigerated item' sticker on the outside.

So I would say, discretion is not guaranteed.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 24/02/2025 17:18

Hi all a good result for me yesterday with another 1.2 kg off. That's 10kg in 6 weeks which I am very pleased with but of course have a very long way to go still.

Did measurement check too: 7cms from waist (most of which I suspect was bloat).

I am transitioning slowly from 2.5mg to 5mg.
1st week 3.75
This week about 4ml (50 clicks)
Depending on how it goes this week may stay same or go up to 4.5.

Hope side effects are settling for most now? Out of interest, those who went straight up to 5mg, how many weeks has it taken to get used to it? Have you noticed more weight loss since going up?

It's the pink box with SheMed all over it. Fridge item
. Hope that helps. Lots of people think it's cake to be honest! 😉
