Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

Hi everyone. So nice to read all the positive comments... I'm after a bit of advice, on 2 things really.

Firsty, I was supposed to jab last night (currently on 5mg) but when I went to jab I realised that I had none left. Just about 1.5mg and the bonus dose. I tried snapping the pen as with my last one but it didn't work so I'm getting a syringe tomorrow. Can I extract my full bonus dose and inject the rest tomorrow? Or do I still need to wait the recommended 3 days?

Also, I've felt really rubbish all the way through my 5mg pen. Last week I dropped down to 3.75 and felt better but ALOT hungrier. I'm unsure now about what to do. I've heard people struggle with side effects on 5mg but they seem to get much better one moving to 7.5mg. Does anyone have any advice on this please? I dont know whether to move up, or order another 5mg pen and stay at 3.75.

So did you inject the remaining 1.5mg? But were unable to access the bonus dose?

If so you can inject the bonus with your syringe tonorrow. Just make sure it adds up to your weekly dose of 3.75mg if thats working better for you than 5mg. Then maybe go up on your next pen.

Im staying as low as I can dose wise and just accepting the last 2 days will be hardest.

TrinityWaves · 12/03/2025 10:09

End of week 15, and a humble -1 lb down.
SW 263.4
CW 218.6 lb
TL 44.8 lb
Targets are to get below BMI 35 (around 15st), then get below 200 lb, then hit 168 lb

I also started my 2nd 7.5mg pen. Although I think I may have broken the pen, after doing the dose, I was fiddling with the dose button and twisted it round and ended up pressing the button down slightly (no needle on the pen at this point so the plunger can't move). Now the button isn't making the clicking noise when I twist it - so possibly jammed! I shall find out next week. It's not a problem though - I can extract with insulin needles if required. I need to just put it away when I'm finished 😂 I also used the CarePoint needles when I was doing the dose but they're so crap and always need about 4 clicks to prime, 2 doesn't work and I need to check the needle actually works. The BD ones are so much better, I'll use those next time if I haven't broken the pen.

I like how I'm fuller quickly, happily can eat at a deficit and not be starving and reduced cravings. However, also still willpower is involved and helping some brain re-training. An example could be I might still fancy some chocolate so rather than eating the family sized dairy milk 20 minutes later, I wait until the next day and just have a mini bar size.

@TrinityWaveswell done on your progress, that is a great loss in 15 weeks.

shrinkingthiswinter · 12/03/2025 21:16

Wow @TrinityWaves! You are doing brilliantly. I felt better as soon as I was under BMI 35. Hope you do too. It made me think ok maybe they are not just arbitrary cut-offs.

Goinghome20 · 12/03/2025 22:11

Well done Trinity!

JunoRoma · 13/03/2025 07:44

I've been on 5mg for two weeks now. So far it's been very (slightly too?) effective in terms of suppression and delaying gastric emptying, but my experience on 2.5mg and then 3.75mg was that my body got more used to the dose as the weeks went on.

SW 107kg
CW 87kg
GW 75kg

Loss this week: 1.5kg
Total loss: 20kg

Goinghome20 · 13/03/2025 10:40

Well done @JunoRoma

Goinghome20 · 13/03/2025 10:47

Anyone watching Lorraine this morning? 3 women who have lost lots of weight on MJ being restyled. Very inspiring.

Just did my weekly jab and weighed in.

sw 13.7
cw 11.8

nearly 2st loss! 1lb to go!

Decided to so 45 clicks on my new 7.5mg pen 5.62mg) as I lost 2lbs thia week on 5mg which is brilliant I dont feel ready to increase to 7.5mg yet..

I may regret this by Monday when Im eyeing up the biscuit table at work...

In other news one of my BF has disclosed that she has started MJ. I have told no one and am feeling guilty now that she thinks im losing weight with no help. Should I come clean? Im torn. I quite like having a secret!

shrinkingfi · 13/03/2025 10:54

Just tuning in now! Badly need some inspiration as am experiencing a frustrating plateau. I think I would tell my BF, it’s not something I shout about and I’m super tired of ‘helpful advice’ from disapproving naturally slim people!! However it’s good to have a support network, you might be able to help and share experiences.

Goinghome20 · 13/03/2025 11:02

Thats what im thinking.

She knows ive been dieting and thinks Im doing so well. Will need to admit to her I have had help from MJ! Fully expect her to take the piss out of me for missing that small detail out!

We are going on holiday together in May so we will both be packing the MJ in our hand luggage!

shrinkingfi · 13/03/2025 11:07

At least you’ll both be looking and feeling fabulous🤣

Julesni77 · 13/03/2025 11:09

I am telling anyone and everyone as I dont care what they think - at the start I had all the faux concern for my health but now when they see it isnt quite the magic bullet and my weight loss is slow and steady and I am still grafting hard in the gym they have shut up about it! I am itching to weigh in but am sticking to my new plan of only weighing in at the end of each pen!

OrangeDonald · 13/03/2025 11:12

I started to plateau on 3.75 so i went up to 5mg on Tuesday. Its absolutely knocked me, I'm tired. Feel slightly sick and burpy (thankfully not sulpher) and have zero desire to eat. I forced myself to have a small bowl of yoghurt, fruit and seeds this morning and im doing my best to stay hydrated.

I'd assumed that 6 weeks on 2.5 and 6 weeks of 3.75 would mean that my body had plenty of time to adjust for the 5mg dose but apparently not. Hopefully it will ease off in a day or two.

@Goinghome20 go ahead and tell your friend, its lovely to have a real life buddy to share your MJ highs and lows with.

Im also telling people, mostly because i figured if i told A and B then eventually C, D, E, etc would overhear something and then I'd have to explain my secret keeping. Just seemed like too much kerfuffle to hide it, so I've mentioned it whenever its come up in conversation or I've gone out for a meal with friends.

Overall people have seemed surprised but I've had no negative comments (and one friend has now admitted she's also on it)

Goinghome20 · 13/03/2025 11:39

I kept it quiet intially because I didnt want to be talked out of doing it! Also because not everyone can afford it.
Think Im ready to spread the MJ love now 🙂

frogpigdonkey · 13/03/2025 11:40

lol on the telling people. I started thinking I wouldn’t. Told my whole family over Xmas then all my colleagues, when my boss promptly disclosed he was on Ozempic and since then several other people have told me they are on it! I might as well wear a t shirt saying I’m on MJ now! I’m neither proud nor ashamed of it but I quite like having a real life community to discuss it with. It’s been an amazing tool for me.

shrinkingthiswinter · 13/03/2025 11:44

Also got a lot of suppression here now I’ve gone up to 5.

The info from my provider is thet the body gets used to the digestive effects (slow gastric emptying, fullness), but the brain effects (reduced food noise, less compulsive, etc) don’t reduce over time.

To me that implies it’s worth moving up slowly through the doses and getting as much weight loss as possible for each one. Also I think it means I need to use the experience of fullness to learn to listen to my body and to get used to portion sizes being smaller, changing expectations, because I’m not going to have the slow digestion forever, even though I plan to stay on the drug indefinitely.

But everyone is still just figuring out how to get the most from this medicine and there are really different reasons for being overweight, so I guess the best approach is going to be pretty individual. I liked eating until I was too full, and I need to kick that permanently now.

JunoRoma · 13/03/2025 12:00

@shrinkingthiswinter the delayed gastric emptying is one of the effects I appreciate the most.

I can resist a certain amount of food noise by keeping busy and distracting myself, but I find it very difficult to focus when I'm physiologically hungry. If I eat a healthy meal (protein, low GI carbs) I don't want to be stomach-growlingly hungry three hours later.

shrinkingthiswinter · 13/03/2025 13:04

Yes, I find the lasting fullness absolutely brilliant!

Goinghome20 · 13/03/2025 18:04

I like the steady blood sugar level most it keeps me really stable enwrgy wise. I always had highs and lows before.
