Congratulations @HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow! You must be our thread's first almost-at-goal!
I've got a while to go - down 16kg from BMI 35 to 29 and now 14kg left to BMI 24. Definitely want to lose another 10kg, but I was pretty slim and fit on that weight in my youth, so not sure going the whole hog to BMI 24 will be a good idea. Will see.
For maintenance, my GP says he now recommends people stay on mj for at least 18-24 months after reaching their goal. My prescribing service recommends 'a few years'. So I certainly hope to stay on it for at least 2 years, but ideally indefinitely. I was getting into the prediabetic bracket for blood sugar, so I'd much rather stay on mj and have the blood sugar control than risk developing diabetes. And I just generally feel better on the medicine. Since I first injected, I've had much less inflammation and joint pain. I'm pleasantly cool (occasionally deathly freezing) instead of perimenopausally pink and sweaty. So I hope nothing comes up that stops me staying on this. It seems likely that generic and tablet alternatives will appear at some point and make it easier and cheaper.
I've just gone up to 5mg and have a lot of suppression. So I suppose once I get to target I might be looking at tapering back down to 2.5mg and reviewing? Then maybe 2.5mg every 10 days, or something like that? On 2.5 I was able to eat 3 times a day, though not much or anything fried. My calorie needs will be lower by that point, of course, so 2.5mg for a while may be a good idea. Hope to be dealing with this by end of June!
