Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

@shrinkingthiswinter I'm only 165cm so considerably rounder than you!
I'm aiming for 75kg which for me will be the middle of the overweight range (BMI 27.5).
3 stone down, just over 2 stone to go...

shrinkingfi · 04/03/2025 17:31

I’m looking for a new supplier. Who do you all use? Are you happy? Service, reliability and support is more important to me than price. (i’m spending so much less on food and wine these days…)

shrinkingthiswinter · 04/03/2025 19:17

@JunoRoma 3 stone down! 💪💪

@shrinkingfi I use Yazen which has amazing support and I think is available in the UK, but I haven’t heard of anyone using it there.

Slimwannabe · 04/03/2025 19:34

@shrinkingfi I use Juniper. They have been really reliable and responsive for me, it's easy to change your next order date, and they have a support programme around nutrition, exercise, and strength building. You also get a health coach to support with nutrition, side effect management, calorie allowance etc, and I fund mine is really good - she checks in on me every day M-F.

BigTightropeWalker · 04/03/2025 21:57

Thanks @shrinkingthiswinter and @JunoRoma - I've ordered some protection powder!

Julesni77 · 05/03/2025 09:36

I am thinking of cutting my weighing down to monthly and am a little bit scared my second 5mg pen has seemed so much weaker than the first - last week weighed 3lbs heavier and much as my rational brain knows I put on weight 1 week a month (and bizarrely not the same week each month!) I am on combined HRT so you would think my cycle is regulated

Overall I have lost nearly 2 stone in 13 weeks which is great and have managed to mostly retain my strength (which is a priority for me over weight loss)

I cannot shake the emotional attachment to the scales! its so hard! Trying to unlearn a lifetime of weight=worth - so I thought if I keep it to monthly I will take some of the obsession out of it?

Does anyone else feel similar? And has anyone cut back to a monthly weigh in and how do they find it?

Sorry for my ramble lol

And to answer @shrinkingfi I have stuck with curate as they give you a discount every month so far - I dont like to pay over £130 a pen and I have found them responsive to queries and easy to deal with

TrinityWaves · 05/03/2025 09:49

End of week 14, -2.4 lb down.
Continuing with 7.5mg - I did 5 weeks of 2.5mg and 4 weeks of 5mg but they both wore off quickly, 7.5 seems to be my dose, so continuing with green!

SW 263.4
CW 219.6 lb
TL 43.8 lb

On the GP, what I meant to say what that he told me he's now recommending patients stay on the medication for at least 18-24 months after reaching their goal weight, in order to reduce the risk of going straight back up. He said there are new findings that suggest this is a good approach, though I don't know what studies those are. He said - which of course is true - that everyone is still trying to figure out how to get the best out of this drug.

This is really interesting. Im fortunate that the cost of the medication isn't a massive factor (especially since i no longer fancy endless takeaways) , so could potentially afford to continue to buy maintenance doses once I've reached my goal weight.

Im trying to stay on as low a dose as possible (currently still 3.75), to ensure i have slow but steady weight loss. Im averaging 1.5lb a week which i think is a healthy sustainable pace.

Google tells me that in the main mounjaro weight loss study those that stayed on 5mg for a year lost 16% of their body weight (for those on 10mg it had a better result of 21% body weight loss, and 15mg was 22.5%). Ive just taken my 13th dose, so 3 months in and I've lost 8.3% of body weight (7.4kg).

My BMI is now just under 30, which was my first target. My next big milestone I'm aiming for is to drop out of the 80kgs, and see a number starting with 7 on the scales. That would be magical. It's still a month or two away at my current weight loss rate, but i now have the belief that its not impossible. For my bmi to go into the green zone i need to get down to under 70kg, but that is long term goals

shrinkingthiswinter · 05/03/2025 11:33

@OrangeDonald congratulations on the milestone! I’ve also just got below 30 BMI. Was 35. So pleased!

Another 8.5 kg will show me a 7X.X on the scales, so that’ll take a while, but looking forward to it.

I've just gone up to 5 mg and have lost 15% of body weight over three months, at about a kilo a week. Hoping for 30% overall, but last third slower.

I’d really be feeling the difference, if I didn’t have an endless cold/cough which has been making me feel dreadful for 3 weeks. I hoped my immune system would be better at a lower weight with blood sugar at a good level, but evidently not. And now I think about it, it was always crap even when I was young and zippy.

@Julesni77 im actually doing the opposite - weighing every day dedramatizes it for me. Also I’m going to need to monitor my weight for rest of my life, so need it to be normal. The times I’ve gone up have been when I haven’t paid attention or have been scared to weigh, so im trying to make it part of normal self care.

3 stone down, just over 2 stone to go...

We have very similar goals (although I'm much larger than you now!). I'm 166cm and aiming for 12 stone/76kg, BMI 27-point-something.

Julesni77 · 05/03/2025 12:23

@shrinkingthiswinter I did used to weight every day when I lost a good amount of weight with team rh pre lockdown and my logical brain agrees but I threw out my scales vowing never to have them in the house again :)

I actually weigh at my gp surgery - then have free weight and BP machines and you have the option to give the slip for the receptionist to add to your record should you wish

Diet culture has a lot to answer for and I am sure that resonates with a lot of us - maybe the further into this journey I go I could chance having scales in the house again but I don't want my kids picking up on what an issue this is for me

JunoRoma · 05/03/2025 12:41

@OrangeDonald and @shrinkingthiswinter congratulations both for leaving the obesity zone, that must feel great!

shrinkingthiswinter · 05/03/2025 23:00

@Julesni77 there’s a lot to navigate here, isn’t there? Especially with kids around. I’m very conscious that I need to make sure my teenagers see me losing weight as loving and looking after myself, and about health not appearance, but I don’t always get the line right.

Unusually among people on these threads, I’ve never actually dieted before. Partly because my mother had very serious anorexia which permanently damaged her health. I’ve had phases where I’ve deliberately eaten better and exercised more, but scales never played a big part.

All the friends and relatives I’ve had who were always stressing about their weight just lost and regained more, so I felt quite justified in ignoring it all and liking myself. It’s only been with raised blood sugar and the arrival of these medications that make effective weight lost possible that I’ve thought ok I do actually care. And I want to do stuff like horse riding again.

my weight just crept up by about a kilo a year, and that eventually added up to far too much.

Goinghome20 · 06/03/2025 07:19

Here we are again!

Wk14d1 and just done my first successful bonus dose from a 5mg pen using a syringe 🙌 (Last months was wasted and spilled everywhere!)

New scales now showing 11.10 so Im now down by a total of 25lbs from starting weight of 13.7.

Noticed the last 2 days this week it was v hard to stay under 1300cals and I was tempted by the treats table at work for the first time since starting MJ!
Think it is time to go up to 7.5mg.. will start new pen next week.

Going on holiday in a month. We are away for 10 days so was thinking I will jab the day Ii go and then day I return.. didnt want to pack any medication as its still secret! is this a good idea? Or will I end up eating everything in sight for the last 4 days on my holiday? I would get back on a Monday and do my next jab on the Saturday

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 06/03/2025 14:35

@Goinghome20 I'm doing similar. My view is part of a holiday is to enjoy the food (within reason) and injecting on my return will make it easier to pick back up and regain focus

shrinkingthiswinter · 08/03/2025 10:01

How’s everyone doing this weekend?

I still can’t fully shake of this cold/flu virus. Been ill for over 3 weeks now. Getting better but still not well enough for even a brisk walk.

And this morning I felt very dizzy when I got out of bed. Checked blood pressure and it’s quite low, much lower than it used to be. Apparently this is a common effect of MJ and often good because of course lots of people have high BP. But that was the one measure I was ok on. So I guess I’ll just have to stand up slower.

On the plus side I’m down into another kilo bracket - 87.95. I love the ‘new kilo’ days!

Lindy0070 · 08/03/2025 10:12

Morning all!
Weigh in day and shot day today. After a blip over half term where I gained weight, I’ve had more positive results this week.

SW 213 lbs (15 stone 3 pounds) 14/12/24
CW 195 lbs (13 stone 13 pounds) 08/03/25
3 pounds off this week (Week 13)
TW 161 lbs

Total loss to date: 18 pounds

Im chuffed to bits to be under 14 stone at last! Don’t think I’ve been this weight for 20 years! I did eat out a lot over half term and it was period time too so I’m blaming both 😂😂.
I’ve got a new 7.5mg pen and debating whether to go up from 5mg or stay where I am. I’m still getting a bit of the burps for the first couple days but feel like the dose is waning sooner now.

Im getting the same thing.. dizzy if i stand up too quickly. Also my resting heartbeat has gone up quite a bit.

Well done on the new kilo!

Goinghome20 · 08/03/2025 15:17

@LC4life hope you feel much better very soon

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 09/03/2025 12:55

@LC4life hope you feel better soon.

I jabbed last night (3.75 bonus dose from 2.5pen) rather than this am as I wanted a lie in.
I've felt really tired and off this week. Even came home from work at lunch on Thurs and went to bed. But half the office is out with illnesses so I'm assuming that and not jab related. Although I've had low level sickness feeling all week too.

Lost .3lb this week, but I've rarely eaten. When I have it's not been great and I've not had enough water or exercise. I'm frustratingly 0.2lb away from 10% body weight lost too.

I've gone for 3.75 dose again and will be doing that from my 5mg pen from next week.

I've washed the car today and my arm is still hurting from pulling something doing some weights. I think I'm having a mopey week (sorry everyone) and I'm hoping next week feels better.

Slimwannabe · 09/03/2025 16:27

W15, D1 and another 1.5lb off, for a total of 29.5lb. Took my bonus dose of 5mg today, and still got a whole new pen to get through, but definitely ready to move up to 7.5 - suppression is pretty low on 5 now, and the weightloss has been stop-start.

Waymarked7 · 09/03/2025 18:38

Hi all,

I'm just deciding if to go up to 7.5mg, done 10 weeks on 5mg, last dose tomorrow. But have noticed being able to eat more this week but I have done 6 days of heavy exercise too. Weigtloss has slowed but I'm OK with that as getting closer to goal weight.

SW 89.9kg
CW 77.1kg
TL 12.8kg in 14 weeks.

Goal was 75kg but I would just like to be in a healthy BMI category, which is currently 26.8 I think so not far off

Really noticed the difference in last month in clothes and it's becoming expensive replying them all, hahah

shrinkingthiswinter · 09/03/2025 19:17

Sorry you're also feeling under the weather, @LC4life and @MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals. Hopefully we'll all perk up as the spring progresses.

@Goinghome20 I'm a bit disconcerted by this low blood pressure thing. Am quite woozy. Might also be what's making me tired, not just the after effects of 'flu. Hmm.

I'm now consistently on 5mg for the first time (2x 2.5) and feeling more suppression.

I also realize I'm less hungry when I make sure I eat really nutritiously, protein and lots different fruit and veg. I think I used to feel hungry but actually my body needed nutrition, not just calories, iyswim. I mean, I kind of knew that and my diet wasn't bad, but I'm more conscious about it now. And since i'm eating less, I have to be more deliberate about choosing good stuff.

JunoRoma · 09/03/2025 20:16

Half way through my second week on 5mg. Suppression has been on the strong side and gastric emptying is significantly slowed, but I'm managing to fit in three small meals a day.

I had a normal, healthy blood pressure before starting Mounjaro. Since starting Mounjaro I've had a bit of lightheadedness when I stand up too suddenly, I've noticed it more just after starting and just after increasing the dose. I'm not concerned about it, as it used to happen to me a lot in my teens and twenties. Staying hydrated helps.

In the past week I've lost another inch from my waist, and the two-sizes-smaller jeans I was so happy to fit into are now slightly on the loose side.
