Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

full disclosure 3 lbs gain this week but I always have 1 week of the month where I get a gain (not always the same time of the month though so its weird!

Did have a small portion of chow mien last night and 2 glasses wine so could be that too

On the plus side my weight training is going well and am very nearly at where I was weights wise 10kg heavier! So I am taking all the positives trying not to freak out too much re scales I know I am not overeating so going to trust the process

week 13 jab 1 - stayed on 2.5mg for 2 pens and am on the first dose of my second 5mg pen - am ordering a 7.5mg pen today and am going to move up in 3 weeks

SW - 19stone 1
CW 17 stone 6
GW 13 stone ish??

I have stayed with curate for the last 2 pens as they seem consistently lowish - I try to keep each pen no more than £130 - and same for 7.5mg pen- but I am experiencing problems with their pay screen today and have emailed them

Hi Everyone,
I’ve just been catching up on the comments over the last few weeks. My Mum hasn’t been well so I have been driving 3 hrs to Wales to support her a lot recently. I’ve just started W13 on the MJ and in total have lost 22kg since Dec 5th. I gradually moved through from 2.5mg to 5mg and took my first dose of 7.5mg yesterday.
Over the last month / 6 weeks I have really slowed down to barely a kilo a week (hence stepping up to 7.5mg yesterday) but I think it may be a bit strong for me.
TBH since I started on MJ I have had zero appetite and have to force myself to eat. I’ve tried to concentrate on high protein foods ( and protein snacks / shakes just when I just couldn’t face food ) I’m exhausted all the time and have zero motivation and low mood. Whilst I’m delighted to have lost the weight and be wearing my old clothes again I’m struggling to keep going on the MJ. I only have 4kgs or so to reach my target of 11 stone and it can’t come fast enough lol. I just haven’t had the energy to exercise and before my knee replacement I spent years playing hockey and rugby and was really fit. The way my brain thinks at the moment I can’t imagine joy in food ever again which is such a shame because I have always loved cooking and food.
Sorry for the gloomy message, perhaps the 7.5mg was just too much for me and I will have lower doses and make the pen last longer :)
Best wishes to you all x

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 27/02/2025 09:57

@Goinghome20 I think it sounds like you're ready to increase your dose.

With the scale change there can be significant difference so your baseline may have changed when you started to use the new scale. But once you had a new baseline the progress should be unaffected.

Although my scales are really temperamental if not on an absolutely flat surface. I've got them placed carefully but occasionally DH moves them and it can make a 2lb difference either way so I spend ages moving them around until they are reading consistently again

I think youre right.
I did 5 weeks on 2.5mg
4 on 3.75mg
and just did wk4 of 5mg.

Think its time for my new 7.5mg pen.... but it seems like a such waste of the mj left in the pen if i dont do the "bonus" dose. Am in a quandry...😂

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 27/02/2025 11:30

@Goinghome20 I'd do the bonus dose and adjust what I take from the new pen according to what you had from the previous pen. I don't like waste either 😊

JunoRoma · 27/02/2025 12:27

Also end of W13 I think?
(I've lost count but my first 2.5mg dose was 27 November)

SW 107kg
CW 89.5kg (nice to get into the 80s!)
GW 75kg

I had been eating too many "just a small slice" cakes and desserts during the half term break (family celebrations) and for the first part of this week I was craving cake, biscuits etc while simultaneously being aware that I wasn't actually physically hungry. I think the Mounjaro was still doing its best, as I've noticed that these cravings happen for a day or two after I've eaten too much high-sugar, high-fat food.

In some ways I'm finding this stage the hardest so far. The initial novelty and enthusiasm has worn off, but I'm still a long way from my goal. I've set myself a mini-goal to try to lose another 5kg by Easter.

Having titrated up gradually from 3.75mg over the last couple of weeks, I've now taken my first 5mg dose, which the Shotsy app shows as a lovely purple colour.

JunoRoma · 27/02/2025 12:30

@Julesni77 well done on the weight training progress. I'm only doing body weight exercises rather than actual weights but have forced myself to get back into the routine after taking the half term week off for logistical reasons.

TrinityWaves · 27/02/2025 13:32

I finished week 13 (I'm W14D2 today), -1.6 lb down yesterday. Continuing with 7.5mg pen as it's working well.

SW 263.4 (morbidly obese)
CW 222 lb
TL 41.4 lb
TW 168 (still a stone OW) 54 lb to go!

Slimwannabe · 27/02/2025 13:50

@tally9040 sorry to hear that you're having a tough time. Hopefully your body will get used to the MJ and the side effects will subside, and there's not too much left for you to lose!

Londonlady365 · 27/02/2025 13:57

Hi all. I didn't know where to put this but hopefully it's useful. I have been ordering fro AJ Hill for about 18 months. Great service but was worried about bank transfer payments. I prefer PayPal for security. I searched to see if there were any comments on here. There weren't so adding one. All went well nothing dodgy just saving a bit on PayPal fees.

BigTightropeWalker · 28/02/2025 11:07

Hi, i went to do my injection today and realised I had no more doses (delays with next injection combined with general idiocy on my part). So I tried to do what others have described as the hard twist, to get another dose out. I haven't tried this before. I twisted it til it showed '1'. When I tried to inject, nothing really seemed to happen. So maybe I just broke it? The button you push in at the end of the pan did move, but nothing else did if you see what I mean. I'm a bit confused about what happened but definitely think no liquid went in.

Just wondering whether what I did was bad for me?

I have chased up Medexpress but they are having real delays at the moment. I've never had to wait so long for my next injection.

Ugh I'm so annoyed at myself.

BigTightropeWalker · 28/02/2025 12:29

I think it's going to days before I get my next pen 😡 (so annoying when I ordered it in time). So I might try to get diabetic syringes to extract the last bit from my last pen. (I hadn't really wanted to do this but I don't want to be without medication.) I can get them from Amazon by tomorrow evening, but can I buy them over the counter from pharmacies? Hoping I could get them today.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 28/02/2025 13:11

Bad luck @BigTightropeWalker I hope you're able to get some needles soon

I've finished week 12 now and first week on 5 has gone ok. Weight is still coming off quite fast. I'm into the bigger 12's now and it's starting to feel like I'm almost there. It won't be long until having to think about maintenance 😱

Week 12 weigh in

SW 14 stone 3.8 BMI 32.2
CW 11 stone 7 BMI 26 19.4% body weight lost
TW 11 stone BMI 24.9

W1 -7lb 2.5mg. - 7
W2 -4.4lb 2.5mg. -11.4
W3 -2.4lb 2.5 mg. -13,8
W4 -3lb 2.5mg. -16.8
W5 -5lb 2.5mg. -21.8
W6 +0.2lb 2.5mg. -21.6
W7 -4lb 3.75mg. -25.6
W8 0 3.75mg. -25.6
W9 3.2 3.75mg -28.8
W10 2.4 3.75mg -31.4
W11 3.2 3.75mg -34.6
W12 4.2 5mg. -38.8

Slimwannabe · 28/02/2025 13:42

@BigTightropeWalker I think the design of the pen has been changed to prevent the mechanism from administering a fifth dose, so if your pen is a newer one then this might be the issue.

I'm afraid I'm not sure if you can buy syringes over the counter;I would presume so but perhaps only in larger pharmacies.

I would be wary about buying syringes from Amazon, I am not sure that they are medical quality. I would order from a pharmacy.

JunoRoma · 28/02/2025 15:02

@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow great progress, nearly 20% down from your starting weight and so close to your goal! Have you thought about how you're going to approach maintenance?

Ah this happened on my last pen which did have a later date. Previous 4 had been fine. I ordered some insulin syringes from UKMEDI will come tomorrow although I don't need for a week. I don't really want the extra complication but a dose is a lot of money..

I've started thinking but not reached a decision yet. Given that I've only just got up to 5mg and react quite strongly too it one option is to go down to 3,75mg or 2.5mg to see if that stabilises my weight. Another option is to keep the same level but further apart, but I'm a bit nauseous on 5 at the moment so I think I'm preferring the lower dose idea.

Have others thought of maintenance plans?

Londonlady365 · 28/02/2025 19:50

Yes. I have been maintaining since November. I got to 15mg but only take 1/2 dose. With 5th dose I get 9 from a pen. Just buy extra needles. I just feel normal. I get hungry, I snack ( love a bag of frazzles) but absolutely can't over eat. It's like I just don't need to think about what I eat.

Londonlady365 · 28/02/2025 21:24

Apologies for gatecrashing your December start thread. I started in June maybe. Maintaining since November

JunoRoma · 28/02/2025 22:28

I still have a long way to go, but if I manage to get close to my goal weight then I'd like to try titrating down doses gradually as a plan A, and then see what happens.

How have you approached it @Londonlady365? And how is it going?

Sounds like you are a super responder to MJ! Lucky you!

Im still quite a way off this dilemma however I think tritating down slowly sounds like a sensible thing to do rather than just stopping.

When my BMI dropped below 30 I changed provider to one that supports maintenance.

HT2025 · 01/03/2025 10:05

Am so fed up with this lark. Very expensive to be not losing.
Stayed the same for a month or more now.
Feel sick ALL the time so I know I am not overeating.
£110 to just stay 13st 10. May as well not have bothered 😩

Sorry, in a real aggy mood today as am stumped as to how to lose that last stone.

1200/1400 cals max a day
3 litres of water
8k steps a day (illness prevents me from doing more)

Anyway - best of luck to everyone else! So good to see the losses

Lindy0070 · 01/03/2025 11:26

@HT2025 I feel your pain. I’ve gained a pound this week after plateauing the week before. Been doing this since mid December and lost 16 pounds. Got another month of MJ sent and I’ll see how it goes after that. It’s the expense that worries me too.
