Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

@shrinkingfi how slow is slow. I'm losing 1b per week and that's pretty good once you're settled on it and eating what you should. If you're craving foods and junk then maybe move, but if you've got good suppression then I'd stay where you are.

Hmmm. Stalled last week, lost a kilo this week. I am tempted to compromise somewhere around 6mg.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 21/02/2025 19:42

@shrinkingfi sounds like a good approach. I think that's about 48 clicks of the 7.5 pen

shrinkingthiswinter · 21/02/2025 23:06

A kilo per week is a good, sensible loss rate! I wouldn’t go up unless the dose isn’t working. The doctor-led service which prescribes for me doesn’t make money out of selling the drug (just providing advice and prescription) and encourages you to stay on as low a dose as possible.

LC4Life, thanks for the link, will give them a go. Have copied link below if anyone else is interested

Morning all, plateaued this week with no weight loss. Week 11, CW 197lbs, TW 161lbs. Total loss 16lbs which is good. Had my period in the week and hubby and my birthday’s last weekend so no gain is a positive result!! Going to stick to 5mg for the time being and see how next week goes. I’m off this week so going to try and up the exercise too.

TrinityWaves · 22/02/2025 10:34

@CrystalDeCanter I've read many posts on here re mood changes, it's definitely a side effect of MJ. I would try the 3.75 if it's having a big impact on your life. Well done on the loss too, that must feel amazing!
@LC4life I do think that a chubby face makes us look younger, I don't look loads younger but people usually assume about 5 years younger. I live where I grew up and get a lot of "did you go to school with soandso (who is younger than me)" So maybe now I'll start to look older and need to put in more effect like you're trying to do. Well done on 2 stone, too! My strength training is just at home with tins of soup 🤣 I love the idea of (non food) rewards, I remember one diet where I rewarded myself at 1 stone loss with a domino's and that was the end of the diet 🤦‍♀️
@Goinghome20 - enjoy your time away and great loss so far!
@shrinkingthiswinter - that must feel awesome, well done on the loss and hope the cold has gone now.
@NotMeNoNo - being in the 70s must feel amazing!
@Slimwannabe - that's annoying they've suddenly started :( hopefully a bug and not MJ
@glittermittens - 2 lb is a great loss! Hopefully someone will have experience of coming off for a couple of weeks but given it stays in your system for 30 days, hopefully you'll be fine to jump back on after.
@Julesni77 - wow, 4 lb is amazing!! I've had the same only side effect so far, it's manageable.
@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow - you're doing amazing and close to target!
@shrinkingfi - welcome! I moved up when the suppression wasn't doing much anymore. I'm now on 7.5 though and it's working really well. As hesdeadben says - you can always get a higher pen and do a lower dose. A kilo in a week is a brilliant loss, though.
@WittyLimeBiscuit - UK Medi must wonder why there's suddenly so many orders of those syringes 🤣 they've also put the price up by 1.50 so they must be their biggest seller lol
@Lindy0070 - STS is better than a gain and great on a week of birthdays and Aunt Flo. Good luck on the exercise!!

Been out the thread for a while now so need to catch up but just thought I'd pop on to say hello!

Week 11 now complete and lost a total of 24lb, down to 11st8lb which puts me in the overweight category. I was probably the same weight this time last year though 😅 I'm not dieting at all though so losing weight at a slow n steady pace.

Don't really have a goal weight as such...maybe somewhere between 9.5-10st. My biggest goal was just not to need to diet and just eat normally which MJ has already helped me achieve.

I feel like this is what I've been missing my entire life.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 22/02/2025 17:25

Hi all

Besides weight loss how are you all feeling?
I weigh every day and am nearly at the point of being the lightest I've been in 11 years.
BUT, I realised today, I'm walking taller, I'm actively making an effort to do some exercise, my body just doesn't ache as much as it did. I really enjoy choosing healthy options when shopping and when I run upstairs I'm not out of breath. I'm 18lbs down from when I started and just realised today I feel fabulous.
My 11yo DD got up on Thursday walked in the living room and just went "wow mum, you can really tell you've lost weight now". I think I'm just now at the point of I can tell. And I'm feeling better. I was really worried that 1lb per week loss would feel so so slow. But actually it's fine. And I'm just aiming for small wins. So next stop is 21lb, then I'll be 3lb away from under the next stone bracket etc. and then another 3lb to two stone loss. Small increments but feel like I'm winning.

How does everyone else feel?

frogpigdonkey · 22/02/2025 17:56

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals I could have written this! My knees don't ache any more. I hit the 21lbs last weigh in which was 10% of my start and a nice round 1.5 stone and that felt amazing. People are starting to notice and even if I still have 2 chins at least it's not the 3 I was previously sporting! And today I was brave enough to try on some old clothes and was very heartened that at least some of them fit, and not in an 'if I bend down these will split' way! I moved some of my fattest clothes into the spare room and moved some previously too small ones into my wardrobe and it felt wonderful! Reminded me of when I used to take pride in how I looked and enjoy nice clothes rather than buying any old crap as long as it covered my arse. Still got a long way to go. Next mini goal is 2 stone and when I get there I'm going to treat myself to a facial!

Slimwannabe · 22/02/2025 19:46

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm not sure how everyone else has experienced the gastro side effects, but given I've been on my current dose of MJ for 7 weeks it seems off that they would suddenly show up.

I'm not a religious woman but there was a point on Thursday night/Friday morning where I was literally praying for it to stop! Miraculously it seemed that I reached the point of true emptiness in the early hours of Friday and as of today I'm feeling fine again! Going to jab tomorrow as normal, which should tell me if it's MJ or bug.

Congrats on all the continued great losses this week!

frogpigdonkey · 22/02/2025 20:12

@Slimwannabe I had similar- 11 weeks on MJ and 3 on my current dose and suddenly had both nausea and an extremely upset tummy. Lasted a couple of days but was quite extreme- although it seemed to settle when I managed to eat more. Am trying to eat little bits even when I don't feel hungry but it's hard when you feel nauseous as well! Seems to have settled now- next jab on Monday so hoping for no repeat of that.

Thanks, good to know! Hoping it is just a blip! Was worst at night, spent two nights up every 30 mins or so, very grateful for a proper sleep last night. I have some pepto bismol now; did you find any medication helped? I avoided immodium in case it was a bug and just needed to work its way out.

frogpigdonkey · 22/02/2025 21:56

lol I tried to find pepto but nowhere near me had it! Gaviscon helped a bit but like you I didn't want to take immodium. I'm going to find some pepto for future issues. If it helps I've been fine since- my theory is just a combination of factors- the drug plus maybe suboptimal eating- too much, too little or the wrong stuff.

Wishing us both well going forward! 😁 I took one dose, but after I was over the worst of it, so hard to know how effective it is. Will remember to report back next time. It does smell like tcp-laced calpol, so not appealing!

Weigh day today. Another 1lb gone. Now at 19lbs down. I looked back at some photos from beginning on Jan and I can really see the difference.

About to jab this morning. (Once I get out of bed). Week 11 D1. Still on 2.5mg.

week has been fine, a bit of food noise creeping in yesterday, but will see how it goes as have three weeks left of this pen plus bonus dose, if it keeps happening I might try 3.75, but for now all fab.

Goinghome20 · 23/02/2025 08:08

Just spent the weekend away and it was so hard to find healthy options.... but it was all okay on MJ!

i literally ate half of what ai normally wouldm half a sandwich, a small piece of croissant and interspersed with apples and bananas and protein bars. Lots of water.

What i also found is that it is so much easier to walk uphill, upstairs and generally easier to be more active.

Slimwannabe · 23/02/2025 09:16

4lb off this week, taking me to 2 stone off in total, which is fab. I think for me it'll become real when I hit the next stone bracket down, as that will be the first time I've gone past my usual yo-yo range.

W13, D1, still on the 5mg and hoping to be side effect free this week 😁

SW: 273lb
CW: 245lb
GW: 154lb

I love the idea of having a reward for milestone losses! I've been treating myself quite a lot recently though (il makiage foundation, hairdresser booked this week) so I'll count those as my 2st loss rewards! For 3st I might get a pedicure! 😁

My ultimate aim is to lose enough to justify buying a Rain Sisters coat.

JunoRoma · 23/02/2025 20:31

I've been off my usual routine for the past week or so: we've been away and had a lot of meals out and get-togethers with family and friends. I tried to incorporate some long walks and make healthier choices from menus, which has meant that at least I haven't gained.

I'm looking forward to getting back on track this week and aiming to get the graph heading downwards again.

I'm in between clothes sizes again and would like to be able to comfortably fit in the smaller trousers and jeans rather than worrying that the larger ones are going to fall down at any moment (I'm still a long way from having a defined waist so a belt doesn't really help).

mjjourney · 23/02/2025 21:57

Week 12 weigh in and jab day
2.4lbs off this week and total loss 28.2lbs so have hit the 2 stone mark! :)
Also done the extra dose on the 5mg so will see how that goes this week
7.5mg ordered with a different provider

frogpigdonkey · 24/02/2025 07:27

Week 12 weigh and jab day
SW 15 stone
CW 13 stone 3 lbs
TW ?? 9 stone

Good week for weight loss but my first really bad week of side effects- possibly linked! 25lbs down in total now which feels great and getting into the 12s feels both realistic and quite close. Side effects eased through the week so hoping next week will be easier.

shrinkingthiswinter · 24/02/2025 08:57

12 weeks (11 on MJ)
SW 103.6 kg
CW 88.75
GW 78?

Thanks to a horrible cold I suddenly hit BMI 30 this weekend! From now on ‘only’ overweight.
