Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

Thanks everyone. Will try to sync my fitbit... why did I not think of that before!

Will up the calories to 1500 on days I do more than an hour of cardio see if that helps.

Im going to be using my first syringe next week.. please can someone share how much I need to draw out of a 5mg pen for a 3.75mg dose? and also how much is 5mg? (Havent yet decided whether to go up next week)

Maths is not my area at all and I want to make sure im doing it correctly!

JunoRoma · 24/01/2025 18:52

At the concentration that's in a 5mg pen:
0.6ml of fluid contains 5mg Mounjaro
0.45ml of fluid contains 3.75mg Mounjaro
0.3ml of fluid contains 2.5mg Mounjaro

TrinityWaves · 24/01/2025 22:39

@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow - yes, it's the 5 pen that's made me more constipated (so opposite to you). But, I was absolutely fine on 2.5. Hopefully we get used to it the longer we're on the drug. Brilliant loss you've had.

@shrinkingthiswinter - well done!

@CatRash - well done on the loss! That's interesting re the smell thing.

@JunoRoma - well done!

@Goinghome20 - well done!

@tally9040 - 2kg is a brilliant loss! I also really enjoyed watching the video, so interesting. Shame he doesn't say what he classes as micro dosing.

@LC4life - sorry to hear re mental health, it's horrible feeling like that. 3 lb is a great loss.

Goinghome20 · 24/01/2025 23:05

Thank you 🙂

NeverJustInTime · 24/01/2025 18:02

Oh my word @squidgymum thank goodness you suggested suppositories. I was in an absolute state this morning still having not gone, so much pain. Thank goodness I got some, you definitely saved me!! 🤩

Bet that was a weight off your mind 🤣 Glad it's sorted, horrible feeling.

Waymarked7 · 17/01/2025 20:12

Anyone else exercising?

Managed a few runs this week, first felt great as I'm 7kg down, second was tough haha!

Noticed this week that my hips are killing me, at the side at night time, having to toss and turn all night and sleep with a pillow between my knees. Not sure whether that's mountjaro, weightloss or something else entirely!

Not weighed in a week as use the scales at work but will check tomorrow. Hoping for a further loss but did have some chips tonight, hoping the run balances them out!

Yes, am swimming lengths three times a week, tried my first aquacise class last week and am trying to do little bursts of anything strength building while waiting for the kettle to boil etc.
Am definitely feeling better for it. Before losing weight (down a stone now) I was getting hip pain, but that has eased off

glittermittens · 24/01/2025 09:24

Good morning December starters!!
Weighed in today and had my 8th jab. Only lost 0.6lb this week, which takes me to 15lbs off exactly. A little disappointed but my food noise was so loud this week, I knew I needed to move up a dose. I did 4 weeks on 2.5mg, 3 weeks on 3.75mg and I've taken my first 5mg dose at 5am this morning.
Feeling pretty meh, headache is awful today, and nausea is pretty high, but food noise has gone. Hopefully that will be it for side effects.

SW 14.11.7
CW 13.10.7
GW 11.7
Height 5'4

Try not to be tough on yourself, that's a really significant loss.

I've seen a few comments re headaches, and I had a stinker yesterday — given that Mounjaro slows stomach emptying and gastric transit I am avoiding aspirin and other NSAIDs as a precaution

Slimwannabe · 26/01/2025 07:53

Another 2lb off, for a total of 1st 7lb in eight weeks. On 5mg MJ, injected in thigh, and 1700-1800 cals per day.

SW: 273lb
CW: 252lb
GW: 154lb

HT2025 · 26/01/2025 10:46

Hey all good to see the losses here! Really encouraging.

Started 6/12/24
SW 15 stone 3.5
CW 13 stone 13.5
TW Anything in the 12stone area! Am in my 50s and start to look ill if I get below a size 14.
Lost 18lbs in 6 weeks

I may well have punched the air when the scales tipped into the 13s 😁

I have a bonus dose from my 2nd pen to use ( also have one from the first pen but it is too risky to use as now out of date unfortunately) food suppression still high today though so I may put it off until tomorrow. And then take the first of the 5mg pen next week.

I havent changed the injection site for a few weeks, still in the tum. Does anyone else do this or do you rotate the injection site area?

Slimwannabe · 26/01/2025 11:01

I stick to injecting in the thigh, just alternate legs.

JunoRoma · 26/01/2025 12:06

I've only ever injected in my thigh (I do alternate sides).
Initially I chose my thigh because if there's a localised allergic reaction then I would rather have a sore / itchy area on my thigh than anywhere near my waistband.
And now I have effective suppression and minimal side effects and I don't want to do anything which might change that.

mjjourney · 26/01/2025 13:10

So weigh in an jag day!

Now at the end of 5mg pen- I reordered the 5mg as no side effects etc- but...I've only lost 4lbs these past 4 weeks! I was out for a meal and drinks last night which I am hoping has contributed to this mornings overall loss this week of 0.2lbs. I have fluctuated 2lbs all week as I'm a daily weigher

I've taken the next 5mg this morning and have tried my arm this time-

I've been in a calorie deficit all week but have noticed myself reaching for snacks which is new

How are those on 5mg finding it?

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 26/01/2025 14:21

Hey all. Weigh day and jab day! Week 7 now. Still on 2.5mg

I weighed yesterday and was 13st 9 which means I finally hit the 1stone loss!! I did go out for a friends special birthday yesterday and indulged a bit, so I'm ignoring the 13st 10 it said today and blaming that on profiteroles as yet undigested.

Im going for more regular meals this week and try to get some exercise in (but it's so cold and wet). Hoping to head towards that 13st 7 by the end of this pen in two weeks.

suppression is still really high for me, so my previously purchased 5mg will stay in the fridge and I'll aim for a 2.5mg again soon

@glittermittens , we started at similar weights and seem to be losing very similar too.

glittermittens · 26/01/2025 15:44

@WittyLimeBiscuit thank you, you're right. I need to think about the long term goal and not just each week. Headache has eased off now and nausea isn't there as much, on the whole feeling pretty good this week so far.

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals I'm weighing in at 13.9.7 today so yes we are very similar. Moving up to 5mg was the right decision for me this week, hoping to get to 13.7 by Friday this week 😊, but if not it should be next week.

SamJM2 · 26/01/2025 17:49

Hey! Love reading this thread makes me feel better about my slow losses.
@Waymarked7 I'm exercising too, 3 sessions a week.
Just done my 3rd dose of 5mg. This is the 1st week I haven't felt ill on the 5mg, glad I stuck it out and pushed through. Suppression is still good. Thinking of ordering the 7.5mg pen. Anyone on this? How are the side effects?

Week 8 currently on 5mg

SW:129.6kg
CW:123.5kg
GW: 100kg (first goal, dont really have a specific weoght i want to be)

Fedupdoc · 26/01/2025 19:49

I’ve lost 4lb in 5 days
do anyone who is a slow loser to begin with, this may pick up on the higher dose
now down to 14 stone 1
really hope this pace continues as I’ll be at goal in a few months time

Lindy0070 · 26/01/2025 20:45

Two pounds off this week which was a shock as had a 10 day period! Just took my jab for week 7 and have now lost 12 pounds in total. I took 3.75 dose last week and have done the same for this week too. My burps and diarrhoea cleared up but the food noise came back around Friday with two days to go until the next jab. Hope things settle down this week. I’m at 201 from 213 pounds and desperate to get under 200 pounds. Have a great week everyone.

BigTightropeWalker · 24/01/2025 14:57

Hi, I'm ordering my next dose (7.5mg) and am thinking of switching to the cheapest provider - Medicine Market Place. Has anyone had bad experiences of them?

I haven't but I use monj . Co. Uk as it is a comparison site - not sure if I'm allowed to add links but if you combine that it'll give you the website. If you show the prescription label from your box when you order with a new company then you won't have any issues. I'm going to switch every month to the cheapest - I've used 3 so far and no problems ordering.

ohmyohmy123 · 27/01/2025 08:22

@LC4life low mood is a side effect of this medication too - try to prioritise yourself if you can. Take time to relax, try mindfulness and breathing exercises. I listen to rain sounds or a funny podcast (who shat on the floor at the wedding is funny) or the Chris and Rosie Ramsey one.

BigTightropeWalker · 27/01/2025 08:42

Thanks @ohmyohmy123 I ended up sticking with my previous provider in the end coz I left it quite late to order and didn't want to risk a delay, but I think I'll do that next time!

Shmee1988 · 27/01/2025 08:53

Hi everyone. I hope you're all doing well. I'm looking for a little bit of advice and hoped maybe one of you could help. I took my 4th 2.5mg on Thursday. It's going well. Lost 13lbs so all good. However, I have not felt a huge amount of suppression. I feel like it's been alot of will power and calorie counting, especially the last 2 weeks. I've just ordered my new 5mg pen ready for Thursday. I've been feeling a bit headachy, a little bit nauseous and very tired so I'm a bit reluctant to go straight into 5mg. It's a double edges sword, more suppression for more fatigue. Would I be better using my 5mg pen to administer 3.75mg instead of 5? Would that maybe be give me more suppression but less tiredness etc. Will the pen last longer as I'd get 6/7 doses of 3.75 rather than 4 doses of 5? Does it work like that? Any help would be appreciated.

ohmyohmy123 · 27/01/2025 09:01

@Shmee1988

Are you eating enough? I find nuts, cheese etc helpful to just give me some energy.

Water is really really important - try to get minimum 2 litres - however for my weight I need 3.5litres otherwise I have a headache and feel sluggish.

I would move up to 5mg. Some people do 3.75 which is your choice - however the manufacturer says the pen has to be used within 30 days for safety reasons. It's worth reading up on that before you decide. Each time it is used there's a chance of bacteria entering the pen.

Hope this helps - I would definitely move up. 5mg has been the best thing for me and I'm on week 9 :-)

glittermittens · 27/01/2025 09:22

@Shmee1988 I did 4 weeks of 2.5mg then did 3 weeks of 3.75mg, and I took my first 5mg on Friday. 3.75 worked well for me the first 2 weeks, but the 3rd week suppression wasn't as good so that's why I moved up again. 5mg has been good for suppression, but I have had lots of nausea and a headache, so I'm glad I did the 3.75 first as I think my side effects would have been worse going from 2.5 to 5. But everyone is different of course.

Beebsta · 27/01/2025 10:47

I hope you don’t mind me
joining in here. I’ve got a prescription from
my Dr but haven’t filled it yet. A lot of people seem to be losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time, which is fabulous and encouraging.

Do you find people ask you about it? What do you tell
them? I’m interested in how open people are about using weight loss drugs. If you do tell people, what sort of reaction are you getting?

shrinkingthiswinter · 27/01/2025 10:58

I’m trying 3.75 to move up gently. And because I want to take as little as possible in order to have a low maintenance dose.

Fwiw, the doctor-led service that prescribes my pens says they are fine for up to half a year. The service doesn’t make anything from selling the pens, they just provide the prescriptions for a monthly fee. So they have no incentive to hurry you through them.

I was happy to buy a new one every month, not least since my health insurance refunds me anyway. But the doctor was like don’t be silly, that’d be really expensive and unnecessary, since they remain effective much longer. So I used the first 5mg pen at 2.5 per week for 8 weeks and now I have been prescribed a 15mg pen to use very slowly for 4-6 months, depending on dose.

I realize that isn’t what the manufacturer says. But I’m in a cautious Scandinavian country and willing to trust the dr.
