Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

I was a slimming world member for a number years. Often when women started lose weight they had weird hormone issues, suspect it is because female hormones are fat soluble and we store them when we put on weight. As the fat breaks down some get released and cause weird periods, pmt and hormone headaches at unexpected times.

This is a theory rather than anything I know as fact but it seemed to reduce once people got nearer their goals.

Brief update, I’ve taken the advice of many on here and gone down to 3.75 as 5mg was giving me horrendous burps and upset stomach. So far, so good I’m glad to say.
I’m loving this supportive group with such a long way to go.

Food noise has slowly been creeping in, so I thought it was time to gently go up from 2.5. I did 45 clicks of my 5 pen, to give myself a 3.75 dose.

Im hoping that 7 weeks on 2.5 has got my body ready enough for a (slightly) higher dose - I'm a bit paranoid about unpleasant side effects.

In other news I somehow accidentally cooked the most amazing lentil & vegetable soup today. I just wanted to use up bits in the fridge so chucked in a very random assortment of veg and herbs and spices. I am sad i didnt pay much attention to the whole process as I've never made a soup thats this tasty.

Ok I am really struggling, I have had almost constant loose poos for 6 weeks. My eyes are going crusty and if I manage to sleep more than 5 hours a night I am lucky. And to add insult to injury I haven't lost any weight in two weeks... Despite being well under 1200 cals most days. Am begging to think this is not for me... 😕

Slimwannabe · 21/01/2025 21:34

@ThisAmpleFawn what are you eating in a typical day? Have you tried bananas/the BRAT diet? You might not be eating enough calories either, so your body is in starvation mode.

Slimwannabe · 21/01/2025 21:37

@Mjblues yes - my December period was late and extra painful! Seems back to normal this month.

Hi everyone I've not posted in ages! I'll try to catch up with the threads in a min.

Can't believe it's my 9th jab tomorrow - started on 27th November. Lost 1 and a half stone so far.

Suppression is so high still for me on 5mg so I'm doing another month on it. No side effects either so I'm really pleased about that.

I've managed two days of 10,000 steps - think the weight loss and feeling better is helping to motivate me.

shrinkingthiswinter · 22/01/2025 06:51

This is encouraging. (There’s a link in the article to the actual research publication)

Hi all. Reading some amazing stories and love the support being given here. Any tips for constipation. Been over a week since I been and not getting any feelings like I need to go, which I’m finding a little worrying. Do people take anything as a preventative measure rather than waiting until the problem arises?

TrinityWaves · 22/01/2025 09:16

W9D1 - just experienced the legendary 'pen jam' with administering dose 4 of my 5mg pen. The button just jammed and wouldn't pressed down, so I gave up and drew dose 4 out with an insulin needle that I usually use for the 5th dose.

SW 263.4 lbs
CW 235 lbs
TL 28.4 lbs

Last Tuesday I weighed in a day early and was 238 but then did it again Wednesday and was 237, so a 2 lb loss this week Wednesday>Wednesday. I've also hit the 2 stone mark!

I've just ordered Psyllium Husk powder capsules - recommended on here to keep you regular and prevent!
I've had very mild constipation, although still going everyday/every other day.

shrinkingthiswinter · 22/01/2025 09:23

Psyllium husk here too. Was recommended by a long term ozempic user.

I take fibre gummies every day in case of times when suppression is very high and I cant get enough fibre, and Laxido when needed. I would get something to take today, with Laxido you can take several sachets if things are bad, just check the instructions. Failing that glycerine suppositories.

I’ve started psyllium husk capsules (after a horrific weekend of constipation). It’s helped slightly but I think I need more fruit in my diet to further help.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 22/01/2025 13:15

I'm half way through my first 3.75mg week and I've had an upset stomach for the last 3 days, where the rest of journey has been mostly constipation or normal stomach. Has a dose change kicked in a few days after a dose change for anyone else.

Last week I had almost no weight change (+0.2lb) after consistent good weight losses on 2.5mg.

Straight after my 3.75 dose I've started losing weight quite fast, definitely faster than just calorie deficit. 4lb since Friday, 2.8lb over the weekend before I got this tummy upset so not just down to being empty.

I'm in my 7th week and have lost 1 stone 11.6lb so far. I stayed on 2.5 for the extra 2 weeks as I still have good suppression.

shrinkingthiswinter · 22/01/2025 13:55

@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow yes, something like this has happened to me. Weight loss and then runny tummy after increased dose. Has happened a couple of times now. I've been wondering about the mechanism. It's almost as if the runny tummy is caused by the weight loss. It's not ideal, but I'm feeling so much better in every other way that I can put up with some loo issues.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 22/01/2025 13:58

Thanks @shrinkingthiswinter that's reassuring as it was new for me. Let's hope it passes soon. Did you persevere at the same dose and it sort itself out?

I'm nervous to eat today (not hungry anyway) but don't want to make it worse 🤢

shrinkingthiswinter · 22/01/2025 14:00

I'm under 95 kg!

SW 103.6 kg
CW 94.8
GW 83? Under 80?

I had that as one of my sub-goals so am very pleased. Next one is 10kg loss, which I might manage by next weekend.

Had a major wardrobe clear out and realized hardly anything fits. I've been approximately the same weight for years, so I didn't have much saved. At first everything just looked better, but now it's baggy.

shrinkingthiswinter · 22/01/2025 14:08

@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow I'm carrying on eating as planned, even if not very much. So far (and now I think about it, this is the third time) my runny tummy has just got better after a few days. In fact has tended to go the other way. Digestion clearly off balance!

I'm trying to really optimize what I'm eating because I'm training quite a lot. So far I'm actually managing to build muscle as well as lose weight, but for that and broader health I'm paying a lot of attention to protein and getting a range of veg and fruit into what I eat, and I do need fuel, so don't want to not eat. Also a bit nervous about undereating and getting too hungry and overeating.

Really hope can settle into a clearer pattern so I know I'm getting the fibre/protein/everything else balance right. Also unpleasant to wake up in the night needing to go.

Mjblues · 20/01/2025 18:52

Has anyone experienced any changes with their periods with mounjaro?

Yes! I'm in the mini pill and usually have a light period every few months. I started mounjaro on 10 Dec, and I had a light period soon after, but now I have only just finished an almost 3 week period with awful cramps and heavier than usual. It actually was tapering off last week, but after my jab on Friday last week it was back full force until today.

glittermittens · 22/01/2025 15:09

Should add I'm 50 and def in peri.

JunoRoma · 22/01/2025 17:46

@TrinityWaves well done on losing two stone!
I'm hoping I'll have done so too when I weigh in tomorrow. 🤞🏻

JunoRoma · 22/01/2025 17:51

@NeverJustInTime I've been adding milled flaxseed to my cereal every morning which seems to be helping to keep things regular.

JunoRoma · 22/01/2025 18:03

@shrinkingthiswinter I went through a phase of my clothes being very loose everywhere except my waist, which was frustrating and made me feel self-conscious as nothing fitted properly. Thankfully my belly eventually got the message and caught up, I then went through a few days of my trousers threatening to fall down at any moment before realising I could comfortably wear clothes one size smaller than when I started.

I suspect I might be in a brief honeymoon period before parts of me start to shrink asynchronously again. I don't claim to be stylish at the best of times, so I'm not sure what the solution is. Stretchy trousers? Wrap tops? Baggy dungarees?
