Shemed Starters - Support thread.

Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

Pen is due tomorrow but I have 2 birthdays this week. Would people wait till after them and start things properly or just go for it?

Yay! Youre in!

Happy to see this as I'd said I'd posted mine out around the same time as you guys did .. so I should be hearing something back soon also.

The waiting is excruciating! 😁

Hope you hear back soon too

Honestly I’d just go for it!

there is never a perfect time always some event or other!
Hopefully you can still enjoy the birthdays in moderation.

Well I got home this afternoon and my jab had been delivered yesterday to my neighbours who were out! 😂 they've just come back and have delivered it and I have just done my first injection! Found it really straightforward and then connected instantaneously to log my weight...here we go! Fingers crossed for no/limited side effects

Hey @ForPeachSake we can be Sunday jab buddies 🤗

Just plucked up courage and did my first jab.

It was painless and straight forward (slower plunge than expected).

Really hoping for a great journey.
Fingers crossed for the great sleep others have mentioned.

I eat a normal meal this evening but probably silly, I finished off the last chocolate melt pudding dessert 🙄because I wanted it out of the house.
I think maybe having that within 3 hours of jab I will regret.
Really hope no sickness or bowel issues 🤞🏻

ForPeachSake · 19/01/2025 23:01

@Reginaphalangeeeee well done!! Yes not sure what I had in my head but definitely was easier than I was expecting!

I've been away for the weekend and it was slim pickings in the house food wise, so I ended up with some of our take away left overs from last night it was boiled rice and curry sauce so hopefully that won't cause me any issues! Fingers crossed you don't get any side effects either 🙂

Lanaa · 19/01/2025 23:07

I've just done my first jab! I've had the pen since Friday but I've been too scared to do it. I was debating about waiting until next week after a planned meal and some parties I have to attend but there's no time like the present.

I'm rather impressed with SheMed. I did my blood test on Monday and sent it off that evening. I had the results on Wednesday and the clinician prescribed MJ on Thursday. My pen was delivered on Friday.

I'm hoping I don't get the bad side effects too. I've ordered the wellgard my journey vitamins to ward them off and I'm planning to eat as clean as possible this week.

Has anyone found any useful guidance on what to eat? There's lots of conflicting info online.

I have done first jab today too.
Where did you read about those vitamins?

Feel bit lost about supplementation like vitamins and collagen

Lanaa · 19/01/2025 23:48

Hi Regina, how are you feeling?

I heard about the vitamins on Facebook and lots of tiktokkers are swearing by them. It's probably just clever marketing but I'm easily influenced and could probably do with some vitamins anyway!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/01/2025 07:36

Thank you @Lanaa

I'm ok this morning after my first dose.
Feels a bit like a nervous jittery tummy, not sure what's going to happen 🫣
Maybe just a little bloated/ windy.

Need to consider the vitamins, supplements and collagen now.

Anyone have good recommendation?

Or maybe somewhere reputable to read rather than marketing material? I know Davina McColl takes bovine collagen but marine is common.

PurpleClare50 · 20/01/2025 08:32

Well....
I'm assuming I'm in as they've taken the first payment! No notification on the app just an email receipt.
Now I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing. Tried explaining to OH today but he just says he doesn't understand. I know if I start to get side effects he will say just stop.
Might try and explain a bit more in the car on the way home. He tends to listen more then.

Why collagen? I'm also looking and already take vit d so thinking about a multi vitamin.

Is anyone have any issues with the app this morning. Its just saying "shemed" and not doing anything else

PurpleClare50 · 20/01/2025 09:15

@Reginaphalangeeeee my other post came across a bit rude. I was just wondering why you take collagen. What does it do?? I’m so in the dark ages with all that stuff. People are saying they are using probiotics as well.

Shmallow · 20/01/2025 09:51

How is everyone? Cheeky weigh today, I know I shouldn't have, but I'm 2.5kg down at the moment and I only jabbed Thursday morning. No side effects except being more thirsty than usual.

@PurpleClare50 I think collagen can help stave off hair loss, possibly? And maybe help prevent really saggy faces as we lose weight. An old friend of mine used to say 'you don't get wrinkles on a balloon' 😂

We're very close to needing a new thread! @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden do you want to set one up, if you see this, or are you happy for one us to?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 20/01/2025 09:54

Oooh thanksn@Shmallow just see this as I got the email alert. Wow 40pages!!!!

Ill start a new thread now but will also read up here in a bit too as I've not looked today!

I think I'll call it Shemed January Starters 2. Not very inventive but does what it says on the tin!

Seems to have fixed itself now, I did get a pop up about site maintenance.

Still waiting for my results (sent Thursday) and get excited everytime I get an email. Hopefully not much longer to wait because I'm eager to get started

Thanks for sorting 🥳

Earthgirl3971 · 20/01/2025 10:41

Thanks for sharing this, I was really interested to read, I'm a big fan of RAG reporting 😁

So, are you in now?

I'm STILL waiting. But I have a tracking update now, and my test was only received by them on Friday morning.

Now it looks like the app is down. So don't out much hope of a response today.

BruhWhy · 20/01/2025 10:45

Blood test kit was received by SheMed on Thursday evening and this morning I've got my results! That's a great turnaround.

Can't view them however, the app is down... just my luck 🙃

themumformerlyknownas · 20/01/2025 14:20

Right, joined the thread last week and went AWOL. I've been waiting for January pay day but today I've just taken the plunge and paid for and ordered the blood test 🙌so, hopefully won't be long until I receive the test.

I have my bloods checked annually due to GD in pregnancy and my last test (June '24) I was borderline normal/pre, as in bang on 42 mmol. Fingers crossed this is actually a reason to start the injections in their view, help get that number back down to below 40 mmol.
