Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

@Newshoesnewname welcome and yes I too would be happy with "just" overweoght and can relate to the impact on mobility. We dont really have the money for it but similarly nothing else has worked and I want to live...
@LeeLeeShez welcome - I think singing up for a year is good for those of us with a bit to lose and takes away that "shall I keep going/ which provder/can i get it cheaper" thoughts - we're in now!
@MelodicStarfall Hope you hear soon!

My pen is being delivered today 🤞🏽 I keep checking my ring camera everytime it notifies me of movement 🤣

Nervous and excited to get on this journey, any one with small kids/toddlers? How are you finding symptoms whilst parenting xx

tinyemmy · 18/01/2025 15:26

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden well done on the weight loss, long may it continue! Sorry to hear about the headache, are you drinking enough?Still no side effects, I'm not really sure if there is any effect, today is W2 D4 and I've had a much larger lunch than usual. I'm thinking about whether I should go up to 5mg when the time comes or stay at 2.5 although I'm still eating a lot less than I was and with no side effects I should probably stay on the lower dose for longer, I will decide after jab 3.
Still deciding whether to delay it a bit (until after my meal out) or if I'm mentally asking for trouble. I will figure it out whilst I'm away

kittykarate · 18/01/2025 15:35

I came out (about the jab) to the people I'm on holiday with, in case there were any issues. I think once you've told one person, it gets easier. Still haven't told my mam though!

Shmallow · 18/01/2025 15:58

Great it's working @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden and that's a great loss, period or not! You're extremely diligent going through the whole thread and picking everything out, it won't be too long until we need a second thread!

Today I've had one slice of the seedy rye stuff again with peanut butter, and most of a small Spanish tortilla and I'm a bit peckish now but not worried about what I have or when. It's like it's just calmed my body's screaming for rubbish.

bluesmartie83 · 18/01/2025 16:07

I am so hoping to get going! Really impatient this seems to have been the longest week ever! SheMed received my blood test this morning. Has anyone been approved over the weekend or am I looking at sometime next week to get my results? It will stop me constantly checking over the weekend! I am so inspired by all your results and journeys so far. Cannot wait to start mine!

LillithMorning · 18/01/2025 16:32

I think my pen is due tomorrow or the next day. But i don't get back till Tuesday/Weds from being away.

I google it and seems it can be out of the fridge for up to 28 days so that seems okay, not too concerned.

Mostly wondering if i should wait till Friday after work to start (despite my impatience!) because i know i have a lot on at work on Thursday and Friday. Any thoughts?

ForPeachSake · 18/01/2025 16:54

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I had a notification that my pen has been delivered today, but I am away this weekend so hopefully it will be okay until tomorrow not sure if my neighbours have taken it in for me 😂 I had hoped to jab over the weekend incase of side effects but think I will just jab tomorrow to get it started and pray for the best!

Needtomust96 · 18/01/2025 17:54

Just to update, I've now been accepted onto the program as of this afternoon. I've received an email saying my pen is going to be dispatched soon and hopefully delivered on Monday. Fingers crossed those waiting will hear soon!

That's great news! When did you send your bloods off?/how quickly did you hear back from them.

MojoJojo71 · 18/01/2025 18:33

What time of the day are people doing their injections? My pen arrived today (with a lovely little goodie bag of the side-effect medication which I’m hoping I’m not going to need). I don’t know whether to just do it tonight or wait until the morning. I know someone said that once you choose a day you’re stuck with that day for the duration so weekend is probably better for me but are you stuck with the time of day as well or can you vary that?

Mine has arrived too, I had dinner at 6pm so I'm thinking to do it around 7:30pm x

MojoJojo71 · 18/01/2025 19:06

i think I might do it tonight too @CleverKhakiBear i was thinking I might sleep through some of side effects if I do it tonight

CleverKhakiBear · 18/01/2025 19:14

@MojoJojo71 same here I'm actually now thinking to do it once my kids are asleep which will probably be around 8pm so can have quiet when doing the check in x

Just to update:
I’ve been accepted!
So they got my test back Tuesday, results came today (Saturday) at 9:15 and approved 20:15
I had high cholesterol, and moderate ALT.
Just know a lot of people are searching and wondering when/if they’ll get accepted.
Wish me luck!

MojoJojo71 · 18/01/2025 21:13

Good luck @Ajiveandaroar

I was approved Thursday, medication arrived today and I’ve just done my first injection!

MelodicStarfall · 18/01/2025 21:15

Those of you that have your pen already- does injecting hurt? Are there any places that are better than others?

CleverKhakiBear · 18/01/2025 21:16

MojoJojo71 · 18/01/2025 21:13

Good luck lovely, I've also just taken my first jab. Checked in, weighed and took the jab after the check in.

Here's to getting healthy 🥰

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 18/01/2025 21:22

@Bananaramram Yay you've got it! Hope it goes okay :)

@tinyemmy sounds like its working if you're eating less than you were - I don't know how it works with Shemed - whether we say whether we want to increase a dose and/or if they recommend??!
@kittykarate I dont mind people knowing but I want to wait until its obvioulsy working which may be 6 stone or so away in my case!!
@Shmallow I was wondering what we call the second thread. I think we're all January starters even if we signed up in January so may go for that . I'm similarly just not "wanting more" or urgent about eating. It's genuinely amazing thinking this must be how normal people function! I didn't think I was always thinking about food but obviously I did more than I thought!!
@bluesmartie83 I found that last wait took so long! Now I just want to be 10 stone lighter. Now!
@LillithMorning I know some people are in favour in jabbign when it comes - but I personally am anxious about side effects and having had some I wouldn't have been able to manage well. But I think everyone's different. Ha - as @ForPeachSake shows - go for it! Let us know how you both get on :)
@Needtomust96 and @Ajiveandaroar wahoooo!
@MojoJojo71 You keep the same day (although there is a button on there to request to change day) but time of day is just when you feel like it you log in. Hope it goes okay :) Ah just read up and you've done it well done :) and @CleverKhakiBear wahooooo! Finally there :)
@MelodicStarfall I am a bit phobic of things like this and I honestly couldnt feel it. I even properly looked the second time and its amazingly not one you can feel. I am doing stomach just as mine is huge. But I think you can go for any of them?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 18/01/2025 21:26

I am feeling so cold today. Like really cold! Normally I'm warm blooded.
I am feeling painfully full from a normal sized meal this evening too. I really must eat smaller.... I have eaten less than normal today already too but i feel like ive just eaten xmas dinner!

Bless you lovely! Layer up and get a hot water bottle on if possible xx

I'm genuinely cold all the time especially hands and feet so not looking forward to that part lol. It seems like it's definitely working small portions and often is key it seems.

Sorry if you've mentioned this before but how soon after jabbing do you feel you the food noise quiten?x

Thank you ... I'm so anxious I think I'll feel much better once I get through the first week

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 18/01/2025 21:35

I'm not sure really. I jabbed Friday and didn't really over eat over the weekend but told myself that's probably just placebo effect. Then during the week realised I didn't have urgency when it was time to eat or need to "just have a snack" and then after a few days realised I just wasn't craving in the same way.

Its not like it's totally put me off food but that I'm feeling less urgent!

I know some people don't feel that on 2.5 at all though.

OP posts:
TLMoo · 18/01/2025 21:41

@CleverKhakiBear I had my first jab 8pm last Wednesday and definitely felt a reduction in food noise from the moment I was up on Thursday. I'm finding the whole thing very bizarre to be honest I don't eat particularly poorly i eat good food but my portion sizes have always been on the large side and since I was a kid I've not been able to 'leave' anything on my plate (I blame the 90s when I wasn't allowed to go play until it was gone!) and the last few days I've not been able to finish my meals.

On a separate note I lost my sense of smell over a year ago and that's come back all of a sudden! You read about all this wonderful stuff GLP1 can do for your body! Wonder if it's just a coincidence haha! I'm nervous about when we move up to 5mg as I've been side effect free so far! I'm hoping none of us suffer with it!
