Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

Is it too soon to say mj is doing its job 20 hours in?

I had some porridge for breakfast around 10:30am and just been sipping on water till around 1:30pm I still wasn't hungry so I just made a protein shake with a shot of coffee.

Usually by this time id be ravenous raiding my fridge and cupboards but i feel fine, still sipping on water, going to cook dinner soon so will see how much i can eat xx

Shmallow · 19/01/2025 16:40

It was the same for me @CleverKhakiBear, or it's a strong placebo effect! I know 2.5mg is supposed to be sub-therapeutic but I'm sure it's already working because although I'm eating very differently it's just not a struggle to stick to like it would be normally.

KeenGreen · 19/01/2025 17:04

Enjoyed reading how you’re all doing 😊

Update from me! Day 2 post first injection.

I’ve not felt hungry at all today really think it’s kicking in!

This morning I did my usual exercise class where I usually burn around 400 calories.
but before hand didn’t want to eat at all. Managed a yogurt!

After I had a protein shake, I was thankful I wasn’t dizzy and lightheaded as that’s been my main side effect so far and thought the exercise might trigger it.

At lunchtime my DH and son had McDonald’s which is a frequent Sunday after swimming lessons. I had zero desire for it! It was great! I sat in the same room having my lunch and didn't feel like I was missing out at all!

I am amazed at how well it’s working so far! Is it just in my head?
I definitely need to eat little and often as that helps.

yaseuk · 19/01/2025 17:07

Hi all!

Just ordered my blood test kit. Really excited but a bit apprehensive.

Can't wait to log my journey and see how we all do

Yeah the same @Shmallow and @CleverKhakiBear

Could it be a placebo or just lucky it’s working already?

I am choosing to believe it’s working 😊🎉

PurpleClare50 · 19/01/2025 17:31

Oh god. Just had a message that my lab results are in. Too scared to look....

Needtomust96 · 19/01/2025 17:44

Has anyone had issues with delivery? Was due to be delivered tomorrow. Still saying 'dispensed' at the pharmacy, which is now shut. DPD tracking shows they are still expecting it. Typically tomorrow I'm at home all day so was hoping to start then. Oh well, Tuesday it is!

TLMoo · 19/01/2025 17:48

@Needtomust96 mine was dispensed and delivered the same day so don't lose hope! Fingers crossed it's tomorrow!

CleverKhakiBear · 19/01/2025 17:52

@Shmallow @KeenGreen yess I am taking it as it's working because this is amazing.

Not thinking about what snack to have etc, I'm just trying to hydrate and keep up with my protein xx

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/01/2025 17:59

@CleverKhakiBear @Shmallow @KeenGreen I think some of us are just lucky it works on 2.5. I'd completely assumed before I started it was placebo or the normal "starting diet excitement" but I really, just don't need to eat. I am eating main 3 meals to try and address my nausea/tiredness and as a family we've cut out upf foods but brain side of this is something else.

I've actually felt uncomfortably food a couple of times after an ordinary meal. It's great. I do have a slight niggling anxiety about what happens at the end but as that's a year away I've got a whole to think about it.

@PurpleClare50 Hope it's okay!
@yaseuk Yay and welcome! Hope it comes soon.
@Needtomust96 Hope it comes soon! You're so nearly there!

I'm so very tired again. It does seem to affect some people this way so I'm glad I'm jabbing Friday but also wondering if I'll need to allow a rest day each week. Not ideal but I need this to work so that may be it.

Edited

It's W2 D5 and I'm hungry, still probably less hungry than normal and I ate all my breakfast in the airport but then had indigestion for most of the flight, skipped lunch and had a brownie when I arrived - I just had half when I might have previously had app of it, not sure if it was because the brownie wasn't as good or if it's the mj, to be honest I'm not sure normally I care whether it's good or not!
Anyway I think I will jab the evening after my meal out on Wednesday (rather than the morning) and I think I will go up to 5mg when it's time, so torn because I don't want to make maintenance more difficult but then I may be one of those who needs to take it for life, there is talk of a pill so hopefully it will be cheaper by then? I've got a year!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 19/01/2025 18:15

Yes hopefully there will be more options or a more established route in a years time!

Let us know how it goes I think with jab 3you get a longer questionnaire?

I will go up to 5 I think as I want to get settled into it and any more side effects out the way.

Ideally I'd be hungry when each meal time comes round longer term.

Oh wow.. have you looked? How are things?

I'm still waiting for mine, didn't post until Wednesday though so probably no news until Tuesday 🙏

FollyDear · 19/01/2025 19:20

I have had my results back, anxiety now starts as I've seen elevated liver levels. I've never had a blood panel like this before so nothing to compare too. Obviously my catastrophic brain thinks I have liver failure or something. Has anyone else had high levels and been accepted? I'm guessing if it's something like fatty liver disease then weight loss should help that massively. I'm also going to lay off the alcohol 😅

Reginaphalangeeeee · 19/01/2025 19:56

Its injection tonight! My first one 😬 and I'm feeling nervous.

I have been really brave and gone to the gym for the first time in 3 years tonight ... so I can muster up more strength to inject.

I have watched the videos on YouTube and read instructions (a lot) but don't really want to do it on a call with SheMed, but have done my weight in with them.

I think I will do it on my tummy (I have big legs but no idea how you pinch here as mine are quite tight.

Question: is it sensible to do right before bed?

OneAzureMaker · 19/01/2025 19:56

Talking of side effects. I jabbed Friday morning and today I just can't get warm, and so tired. Yet tiredness isn't supposed to be a side effect!!!

SassPot09 · 19/01/2025 19:59

Hey everyone
Just got my results back! Awaiting review from clinician.
By the way there is a fb group for shemed users if anyone wanted the link as its super helpful and everybody is lovely.

Well I got home this afternoon and my jab had been delivered yesterday to my neighbours who were out! 😂 they've just come back and have delivered it and I have just done my first injection! Found it really straightforward and then connected instantaneously to log my weight...here we go! Fingers crossed for no/limited side effects

MojoJojo71 · 19/01/2025 20:01

my first injection last night at 9pm. Totally painless, didn’t even feel the needle go in.

About midnight I was lying in bed and started to feel shaky and dizzy and a bit anxious but I think it was low blood sugar as I got up and had a glass of milk and felt much better.

today has been weird. Had yogurt and granola mid morning and then nothing but water and tea until a bowl of chilli this evening. Even took my daughter through McDonald’s drive through and didn’t fancy anything. Usually I would have something for the sake of it, hungry or not. It may be placebo but I’m happy with that 👍

TLMoo · 19/01/2025 20:06

@Reginaphalangeeeee I did mine around 9pm then went to bed and had the best sleep I have had in years 😂 slept really well ever since which is madness I'm usually a terrible sleeper! Go for it I say!

I posted mine back first thing Wednesday morning and results came in a couple hours ago. No news on acceptance yet. Slightly high cholesterol but no thyroid or pre diabetes but liver enzyme thingys raised but that is normal for me.
Seems they are working 24/7...

Earthgirl3971 · 19/01/2025 20:36

I've been very surprised that they are working weekends but I guess that with 1000 plus people to process and get going it really needs to be a 24/7 operation.

I hope for good news for you. From what I can see lots of people have elevated levels and they are approved. I'm a little worried about this myself; I have a naturally low levels of thyroid as an example. So I'm worried about low levels rather than high affecting my results. 😊

I'm sure we will all be fine as I guess they need as bigger selection of people that they can get to fulfill the study requirements.

badgersnakemushroom · 19/01/2025 21:04

I just got my test results back 😀. All good apart from high Total Cholesterol and high LDL Cholesterol, I am guessing this is from being a fat middle aged woman and will improve with weight loss 😂. Fingers crossed I get approved and that @BigBloodyStupidHat (the wife) gets her results soon too

Earthgirl3971 · 19/01/2025 21:36

Yay! Youre in!

Happy to see this as I'd said I'd posted mine out around the same time as you guys did .. so I should be hearing something back soon also.

The waiting is excruciating! 😁
