Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

How do you know the date that they were received? I only popped mine in a postbox for quickness and wish I'd bothered to go in to the post office now and get the tracking reference :-)

Though I took a picture of the envelope the tracking number does not bring up any results.

I did get this email through though, I took this to mean that they had my blood results and were analysing them? Xx

Still no blood results for me, the bloods were received on Tuesday morning. It's so hard to keep waiting 😭

They do update the app on the main page saying they received them and they are analysing and can take about 4 business says. X

Needtomust96 · 18/01/2025 09:53

@Earthgirl3971 I dropped mine off at the post office, so received a tracking receipt. Hopefully you hear back soon!

I would message them on fb and ask them when you will get your results. They are good on there when I asked they were able to confirm that they had my bloods and were processing xx

Earthgirl3971 · 18/01/2025 10:07

This is the update that they post?

Sorry would anyone be happy to post a snap shot from their app if it's something different ?

Thankyou. Based on seeing other posts I won't expect mine until maybe Tuesday / Wednesday next week as it does look like they take the 4 full business days to analyse and publish the report in the app.

Does anyone have PCOS and or Endo here? After a private appt with a consultant Adenomyosis is suspected to join it's evil sisters above. I really am falling apart.

They have received the sample then! They got mine tuesday and i got my prescription ordered on friday night, expecting it to arrive tomorrow. Some peoples have been quicker though.

I have PCOS, and had endo lesions removed via laparoscopy in 2014. Thankfully mild and don't think I have had any re-occurrences since, if so low grade. I know people who suffer with it badly and I'm sorry for how you're feeling. PCOS brings a whole host of additional pain and suffering too, I know this isn't going to be an immediate fix but i know it will help improve symptoms eventually.

It you ever need someone just to listen please feel free to private message me x

Earthgirl3971 · 18/01/2025 10:31

Thankyou that's really kind of you to offer.

That's quite a journey , I feel for you as I know how those awful pains feel. Im dissociating myself from my hostile womb now, it's the only thing to do.

'm not sure how to private message but I'll figure it out. 💕

Bless you, I totally get that!

I've sent you a PM, i think you can only access on website not on app, but I could be wrong! No pressure to respond and hope you get your results soon x

RedHillLady · 18/01/2025 10:48

Just did my first check in.
3.8 kg lost

I'm expecting it to slow down in week 2.

Second dose is done.

Shmallow · 18/01/2025 10:53

Great loss @RedHillLady ! You must be thrilled with that.

To everyone waiting, I only jabbed Thursday but it's worth the frustrating wait. I'm feeling great, drinking loads, eating well, not craving anything at all just fueling 'like a normal person'.

Hi, did you record the tracking reference from the return envelope? If so you can use Royal Mail website to check it’s been delivered. Sorry if that’s already been mentioned

RedHillLady · 18/01/2025 11:21

@Shmallow

I'm over the moon!!! It's a great start.

Ajiveandaroar · 18/01/2025 11:30

Hi all!
I’m nervously waiting to see if my prescription will get approved (have lurked here since new years 😅)
Wanted to ask if anyone has been approved/denied with slightly amber ALT? I can see a few of you had raised AST and got approved, my stomach drops every time I get an email! 🙈

I had this message the second i got off the phone to Shemed when doing the id verification and blood test - so before I had even sent it.

badgersnakemushroom · 18/01/2025 12:02

Still no results for me or @BigBloodyStupidHat (my wife). We posted ours on Weds morning, tracking on Royal Mail says it was delivered late Weds night.

I'm not very good at waiting for things/results 😂 so hope it comes soon, more than likely will be next week now I guess though.

Earthgirl3971 · 18/01/2025 12:16

If it helps, I think we are on the same schedule having posted to a priority post box before 1 in the afternoon on Wednesday.
I'm still waiting to hear back and I'm now banking on Tuesday next week latest. Good luck! 🍀

KeenGreen · 18/01/2025 14:06

@Shmallow @ploot and others recently done first jab how you doing?

im 24 hrs post first one now and its ok so far.

I did jab off the call which I preferred as I could do it in my own time. Didn’t feel a thing.

Had low dizziness and lightheadedness yesterday maybe blood sugar 3 hours after jab, and headache at bed time.

This morning I had yogurt and fruit for breakfast. Was feeling dizziness again about 3 hours later so I think I need to eat little and often.

No other side effects so far, so feeling hopeful.
I am thinking a lot about food though, and trying to figure out what to eat when. So at the moment it does feel like a normal diet from that perspective… I feel like I’m restricting myself and tracking and worrying about protein etc. I’m not sure where to go from here re this. I would definitely like it to feel more normal and natural.
I’m also on the She Med Warriors FB not sure if that’s the one mentioned, and yes there is a lot of good discussion and tracking calories etc

Hiya, I did mine around 10:30 last night.

Slept like a baby!

Woke up hungry, had an Aldi actimel and a banana around 10:30am.

Then had some lunch around 12;30.

Just had a handful of grapes & have a cup of tea in hand.

So yeah I'm hungry & no other side effects to report.

However, I'm on adhd medication and don't tend to take it most weekends. I am usually ravenous but I've been good with my choices :)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 18/01/2025 15:00

Wow - I haven't been around a couple of days and so much happens on this thread! It's so lovely to see what a community we have all become already and to see everyone supporting each other. It's made me really happy :)

A huge welcome to anyone new on the thread - especially those that say they were previously lurkers or have signed up to join in!

My update- I did my second jab Friday - Like last week I have a headache today (fine with paracetamol) and am nauseous. I've had that on and off all week but it is manageable. I'd rather it wasn't like this forever. I've been struggling with fatigue although I'm not waking up to wee so much as I was with jab 1! I'm just tired. There could be other factors for that though tbh (Have been struggling since covid last Oct/ went to GP for blood tests to rule out other things).

Food wise - like @Shmallow says I feel like I can see food like a "normal person". It's honestly eye opening. I feel like "ah this is why people say they don't want to eat/ they are feeling full after a meal or why they turn down snacks or even choosing to eat the healthier options rather than Everything Right Now". Its lifechanging. And this is just on the starter dose - I wasn't expecting it to work already.

Weight - Technically I've lost 3.3kg. I do say technically as my period came on almost instantly and I gain and lose tons over my period so it was probably an inflated starting number!!! I am v heavy (bmi 49) so a long way to go.

Catching up - I'd love to reply to everyone on this thread but aware with being out of action for a bit there's a lot of posts so apologies if I miss people.

@tinyemmy I hope you are having a fab Skiing trip and you are still relatively sideeffect free!
@Catgrill welcome and congratulations on the first injection! Its amazing I wasn't expecting to feel like that this early!
@CleverKhakiBear Yay for finally being approved after all that time! Hope your pen arrives soon :) Like the others I agree its natural to feel anxious but even with some side effects overall this is so worth it already for me. I have a lot to lose so I know that long term this is so worth it too.
@gillirhys Hope the panto is going well - I think you were thinking of jabbing after your performance tomorrow - let us know how its going :)

@ploot - Yay for FIRST jab (I'm on the waiting list for autism/ADHD assessment to and complete relate to all the anxiety)
@KeenGreen How are you feeling? I'm similarly queezy and cold!
@RumPirate - did you do your first jab? Hope things have been okay
@Shmallow - as above yay for it working so early
@Tiredftmum @TLMoo @xxCatCrazyxx -also well done on first jab and sorry not to have been around/ missed the day!
@FeverDreamer welcome and yay for first jab!
@Bythe great to hear your story - and I can so relate - I have started feeling cold too - google tells me it seems to be a thing others feel too.

SECOND jabbers - @DIYMum I can so relate to the "hardly hungry". Yay for a loss and if you lost 2lb a week that would be a lot over a year!!! @OneAzureMaker wow that's a huge loss!
@RedHillLady wow huge loss too!

Those waiting - hope you hear soon!
@Annathomps @badgersnakemushroom (and wife!) @bluesmartie83 @Earthgirl3971 @FollyDear @Madcatwoman123 @Mazd323 @SassPot09 @fallenover @Needtomust96 @Bigknickers56 @BigBloodyStupidHat @Ajiveandaroar - I think all have bloods sent off and waiting for acceptance - hope you hear soon and all okay.
@MummySharkDooDoo Did someone contact you? Hope its okay and straightforward

@bertieallsort @BestDIL @Pandabananza @RachCmomma think is waiting for a blood test. @Mieliwood too (I have v fussy kids too and can relate to the making meals stress)

@Reginaphalangeeeee @Bananaramram @LillithMorning @MojoJojo71 @ForPeachSake (welcome!)I think is waiting for the pen to arrive

So many people on the thread now - sorry if I've missed anyone!

And as always so great to have @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne with us and her amazing loss is so inspiring

Newshoesnewname · 18/01/2025 15:04

Hi all

Hope I can join you.

I've signed up and waiting for my blood test to arrive.

I've yo yo dieted my whole adult life, but I've never been this heavy. I'm menopausal and it seems like the only way I can shift any weight is to be on 1000 calories a day, and that's miserable when you are constantly thinking about food, so I try for a couple of weeks then fall off the wagon.

My BMI is 47 and I would be thrilled to get down to just overweight.

I have arthritis so exercise is a challenge but now that I'm so heavy my mobility is being quite seriously affected which causes a bit of a vicious cycle. I do yoga and pilates 3 times a week but I'm struggling with that now because my wrists and ankles can't take the weight.

I've been ignoring it because I know the likelihood of being prescribed by my doctor iis 0 and I can't really afford to pay. I figure though with this price being fixed I could maybe make some savings on the food budget to compensate and I've come to the conclusion that I'm better off skint than dead.

I have high blood pressure but my cholesterol is normal and I'm not diabetic. I do actually eat a healthy diet full of fruit and veg and fairly low in refined carbs, but my problem is portion control (or lack thereof)

I'm a bit scared but this could be my only chance to get to a more normal weight and stay there.

I've read the thread so far and this sounds like a really supportive group so fingers crossed we all achieve our goals.

LeeLeeShez · 18/01/2025 15:08

Hi all
Hope I’m okay to join this community as I requested my test kit today and hope to be accepted to start on my weight loss journey.

I’ve struggled with my weight mostly for the past three years and I’m the biggest I’ve ever been. My bmi is extremely high for only being 5’1” and I’m currently weighing just under 17st.

MelodicStarfall · 18/01/2025 15:08

Hi I'm new here and have just started on SheMed. I did bloods on Thursday and they received them on Friday so now just waiting for the results. (Obsessively refreshing the app).

My BMI is 31 and I'm keen to get to a healthy BMI. I'm so sick of trying everything and now seeing results (diet/ gym) I also can't keep buying bigger clothes and growing into them! Blush I

I really like the idea that SheMed is over 12 months as I feel I can use the time to build healthy habits?

It's so nice to see what a wonderful community there already is in this thread.

Bananaramram · 18/01/2025 15:14

Well, I had quite a palaver getting my kit delivered. In the office on the first delivery day, second day they claim they tried but I was home all day. Today I sat outside my building for half an hour and managed to catch the postie!

Been training for two hours so eating some food and then it is TIME!! My mum and dad and my long distance bestie know, but no one else!
